Jamie is a very sweet lady and her salon is very quick & convenient if you live in IV. Unfortunately, she does not wear gloves when waxing her clients which even includes intimate waxing (brazillians, etc.). Not only is this quite unprofessional, it puts Jamie & all of her clients at risk to spread any bacteria or diseases. Also, she charges $5 more if you use your card instead of cash. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Jamie! I have been coming to B Boutique for a little more than a year and it is by far the best Brazilian in town. I don't think I ever spend more than 20 minutes there. Jamie is so easy to talk to and she definitely remembers her repeat customers. Phenomenal service, really! I also love that you can book everything online and keep track of upcoming appointments through your account. You can even set up recurring appointments. Even though prices did recently get raised a bit, it's still a great deal and if you're a student you also get a discount! I know they used to charge extra for using a credit card, but that is gone now. I have sent a few friends here already, and I would definitely recommend more! read more

Jamie is very friendly and always conversational, but her services are just okay and her studio does not seem sanitary. I've gone to B Boutique on and off for several years, and every time I've gone back, I've been more and more disappointed. My main complaint is that the treatment room isn't clean. Just looking around the room, you can see grime. The wax pot looks like it's never been cleaned, and Jamie doesn't wear gloves. Jamie is almost always running late; so while the treatment itself is very short, I always end up waiting past my appointment start time. I went for a long time because it was close to where I lived and it was cheap; however, the price keeps going up every couple months, it became inconvenient as B boutique seemed to be always behind schedule. I don't feel that Jamie's services, products, and facility are worth the increased price. I found a wonderful esthetician who uses completely natural, high quality products, maintains a very clean treatment room, and performs a much more thorough wax at a much lower price, so I won't be going back to B Boutique. read more

Jamie did not hold the skin taught at all throughout the entire wax. I've been waxed for years, and no one has ever ripped the wax/strip off without holding my skin at the same time. Also she did not press the skin afterwards to help with the pain. She also used the same strip many many times before getting a new This was easily, and by far, the most painful wax I've EVER had. Truly so painful that I couldn't finish, that has never ever happened. I just don't understand how someone who runs a waxing business wouldn't know to do that. As other people have noted, she also did not wear gloves, but that didn't really bother me. Lastly, I called to let her know that I might be late, and she said that she charged a no-show fee (although she had no credit card info), and that because I called she'd just cancel it ?? Jamie is amazing! Her salon is very clean and sanitary! I've come here many times over the years and have gotten my arms, legs, lower back, and underarms waxed. I was SUPER self-conscious during my brazilian bikini wax, but she made me feel super comfortable! I was looking for a last minute salon visit in IV. I looked into the B Boutique and even tried to call a few times. Their voicemail was rather uninformative without so much as mentioning their hours of operation. I walked all the way to the salon in order to find their current hours (the website is outdated). I waited until after the posted hours on the door said they'd opened and I called again. No answer. So I went to the salon, hoping for a walk-in since the door said walk-ins we welcome. They were closed up tight. There was no explanation posted anywhere. I'd say that's poor business practice. If you are a service-based business, you have an obligation to inform people if you will not be open. Especially if you are the only place in the area that provides those services. They've lost me as a potential customer. read more

I have always left the B Boutique a satisfied customer. I have gotten several Brazilian waxes here and each time took less than 20 minutes. Jamie always talks to me the whole time though so that I am distracted. Prices increased last year, but it is still a relatively affordable Brazilian for the Santa Barbara area. I went in for a last-minute eyebrow wax because I was getting my senior yearbook pictures taken. The whole process took about 15 minutes, and at first they looked great! But after a day, I realized that oh my god, she took off a chunk of skin from my eyelid. I've never had this problem before and I'm certainly not on any acne medication. Considering both Benefit Brow Bar and B's Boutique eyebrow waxes cost the same ($20, which is why I usually wax my own eyebrows), Benefit is the way to go for your emergency waxing needs. read more

I went to Jamie for my first Brazilian this summer and now I'm hooked! She's so great and make me feel comfortable and relaxed even in most awkward situations lol. She talks you right through it and gives great tips on pain relief. And she remembers your name and the little things you talked about before. I was used to a European Wax center at home, and once i moved to IV, I needed a brazilian really badly. I made an appointment here after considering the other options. I decided to book an appointment here with the super easy process online on their website, and it was really close to campus. Jamie is very nice but the service was not. My skin is scarred and in pain from my eyebrows down to my Brazilian. My skin is still red and in pain and itchy from a wax that was three days ago. I do not recommend for anyone with even mildly sensitive skin. She also does not use any gloves which is highly unsanitary. The shop does not pose a sanitary vibe either which I should have been aware of with the lack of gloves. I came on a whim just for shits and giggles and was completely amazed. I had never gotten a brazilian and to my surprise, it wasn't what I had expected (in a good way). Jamie helped me and she made me feel comfortable. She told me that she's been in the business for a while and she knows what she's doing. The only thing that made me give this place a 3 star in stead of a 4 is that Jamie doesn't use gloves. She makes sure not to double dip, which is good, but she touches you without any protection. Who knows how many other girls punannies that she's touched. Frankly, I don't want to know. So for those who are curious to know, keep that in mind, that you should always have your hair removal-ist wear protection. read more

Probably one of the worst brazillian waxes ever. 1. They use strip wax instead of hard wax. For a sensitive area like the vulva, you NEED to use hard wax as it's just better for the skin and it hurts way less. I've never had a wax hurt as badly as this place. The other places I've been to don't even hurt compared to this. 2. My smoothness lasted a week, maybe two if I'm lucky. I'm Asian and I have very thin and sparse hair... The lady just didn't remove all the tiny hairs-- just the main growth. My other brazillians last at least a month! 3. This place hurts. Like I said, this is the worst pain I've ever had when if came to a wax. 4. The ingrown hairs are crazy... I've had so many, more than ever, and I know it's due to this place's method of aftercare... Neosporin ain't gonna go that far, if anything it clogs the newly opened pores and causes bumps. 5. Their method is awful. The lady doesn't pull back the skin to ease the pain. She doesn't rub over or put her hand over the waxed area to ease the pain. She just let's you hurt. Don't get me wrong, this lady is nice, and it's convenient in IV, and it's pretty cheap-- $35 for students... But they suck. Painful, not thorough, hate it. But 2 stars instead of 1 because the lady was at least nice and it only took about 15 minutes. read more
