My experience with Barbara was awful! I never even got to see her. After 2 or 3 weeks of communication she told me that she doesn't do that service (perm) anymore. Also, in one of the texts she called me a "B". She had asked me for some information about the rods I preferred, and I responded 2 days later because I was dealing with the passing of a friend. She got back to me freaking out that my appointment wasn't that day and she had someone else that day. I told her no, that I was just answering her question. She responded "wow b you scared me". ??!! I also had asked her multiple times for an estimate, which she didn't answer until she decided to cancel the appt, 2 days before the scheduled day and time. She was just so unprofessional in communication! The manager/owner should not recommend her for perms, IMO. Super disappointing! read more

I have a lot of hair but not a lot of luck finding someone to give me the short, loose , choppy cut I really want. Until I came to Santa Barbara to visit my son and found Barbara at Studio S Salon! She cut it just the way I always wanted it and I love it! Thank you Barbara. Great salon. Nice people too. read more

Karla was the absolute best she was so sweet and my hair came out amazing. 10/10 experience

I've gone to Karla here a couple times now.. and I recommend her to everyone that compliments my hair!! I went in initially just wanting to get some blonde in my hair (and actually feel blonde, places I've been before did NOT do a good job) and Karla did incredible!! The amount of compliments I get on my hair, especially when it initially got done, is crazy!! If you're in need of going lighter, definitely ask for Karla. She does incredible and is the sweetest! read more

Best salon I've ever been to in Santa Barbara, CA. Roxanna Bina is an excellent esthetician and I would never go anywhere else for a healthy skin program. Thank you for your professionalism and expertise. read more

Hi..I never write reviews but Vanessa Kent deserves 100000 stars. I am a new client and now I won't be going anywhere else. She can do EVERYTHING. She's just too good. I came in with shoulder length hair asking for a short bob with some certain layers and Vanessa took her time to talk with me and help us both understand exactly what I wanted. And then she executed it PERFECTLY! She is so fun and humorous and I left the salon with a huge smile on my face! She does short cuts long cuts and she lovesss color. If you're looking to take your hair to the next level, go to her! read more

I will start off by saying the hairdresser I had been going to at a different salon no showed and I was super upset/disappointed since I made my appointment 3 weeks ago. I called Studio S and I wish I remembered the name of the receptionist because she was super sweet and referred me to Victoria. Victoria immediately knew what wasn't working with my current color/cut situation and I trusted her recommendations from the start. Victoria actually listened to my concerns rather than doing a partial highlight and sending me on my way. She came up with a game plan which made total sense after her explanation. Her knowledge, expertise, and attention to detail says it all. Not to mention I was in a scramble to get my hair done for my Birthday this weekend and I know she stayed super late for me. I can't recommend Victoria more for color and cut. Also she educated me on which products and brushes I should use.. and a better way to part my hair! read more

I have been going to Victoria at Studio S for the past year and a half and I have never been disappointed! She always does exactly what I have envisioned :) she is a perfectionist and will do whatever it takes to get it just right! She is always so happy and bubbly, so the whole experience is perfect 10/10 recommend her - she also works Sundays which is unusual for a hairdresser and I am so thankful to her! This is the color + cut she did the day before my wedding day, I loved it! read more

Cindy G. Does the best color and haircuts. I've been going to her for years, she's always on time, and gets me in and out.

Selena is the best. I tried a new hair person in LA and needless to say my hair needed a little help so while vacationing in Santa Barbara I found Selena. She color corrected my hair and even made some great recommendations for products that would help my hair. She took the brassiness out of my hair and got me back to my sun kissed blonde/brown. Most importantly, she did a killer job so quickly! She definitely knows what she's doing , if only i could ship her to LA!! read more

Studio S is absolutely perfect. Alexis, the owner, is the sweetest person on the planet & does an amazing job on my hair every time whether it's just a trim or taking 12 inches off. They always offer you tea, water, etc. as soon as you walk in, and the entire staff is just so wonderful & talented. Crystal does amazing, painless, long-lasting waxes. Her eyebrows & brazillians are fantastic. I'm 110% loyal to Studio S. They treat you like family & are the best in SB. read more

I am here visiting Santa Barbara and was having trouble managing my hair. My daughter recommended Selena Munoz to me at Salon S, Selena got me in right away and was extremely knowledgeable on hard to manage curly hair. She gave me a fabulous conditioner treatment and blow dry. My hair looked and felt so great and stayed that way for days, I actually went back and had her blow-dry it again for me the next week. She is very sweet and accommodating. I highly recommend her services. read more

I called the day before and was able to get an appointment with Brittany! I didn't really know what i wanted, but knew something was definitely needed. She helped me choose the best cut & color and made sure i was happy the entire time. I've had so many compliments on my hair since. P.s. She even offered me wine and lemon cake! Lol. I will definitely be back for Brittany! read more

I had an appointment at 4 and texted the stylist at 3:10 to reconfirm the appointment. Upon arriving at 3:50, the stylist said she'd "gotten involved in another project" and wouldn't be able to do my haircut until after 5. I left. There's no excuse for this lousy behavior. read more

I must update this photo to reflect the great new cut Vanessa gave me. I have never had so many compliments on a new hair style as I have had after Vanessa Kent cut my hair recently at Salon S. "Sassy", "sophisticated" and "your haircut makes you look so pretty" are some of the remarks I have had. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I feel very flattered as my friends now have done variations of my new cut. In the past I have had many compliments on my blonde hair color Vanessa gives me because it looks so natural with the many colors she includes. Always known as an excellent colorist and the one to see for correction of a bad color job you may have had elsewhere, she really gets great results and has the technical skill and patience to restore your look. Her years of training and experience and the way she actually listens to what you want and cares about modifying looks to suit your face, hair texture, lifestyle gives you great results. I hate to book ahead but she is busy. so I do. You see, she is my daughter, and when I tell people who does my cut and color I love hearing what a great person she is as well as a skillful professional. Don't take my word for it. Check her out yourself. Dr. Marilyn Perry. read more

Sherry, my favorite esthetician is really good and professional. Actually everyone there is friendly and easy to get along. I like the place for the easy parking, cleanness, lightness & Sherry's pricing is fantastic! I recommend her. read more

I came to this salon with a scattered plan of purple hair. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but the receptionist introduced me to the color expert Selena. We got to talking and finally agreed on a fun amount of purple. We had to dye it twice but she had no problem with that, all she wanted was for my hair to make me happy. I have really long hair and she cut and colored it all for a VERY affordable price. I would highly recommend Selena and this friendly little place if you're looking for a new salon. read more

Brittany is so wonderful! I purchased a groupon for a haircut, highlights, and blowout and she did an amazing job on all three. She's super sweet, friendly, and fun to talk to. She listened to what I wanted and was always asking what I thought, yet she seemed to know exactly what would look good and she was right! Honey highlights for me- they look really natural, yet they added the slight change I was looking for. Also, my hair is wavy/curly and just above shoulder length. I used to have an a-line cut that I'm growing out and I think with all of these combined my hair is not the easiest to give a badass trim to, but Brittany did. I am moving to Santa Cruz in a few months, but I know I will be sure to schedule an appointment with Brittany every time I come back down to SB. read more

My stylist for quite a few years has been the fabulous, Vanessa. What I like about Vanessa is that she is honest and she always goes with the vibes she is feeling off you. I walked in wanting a peek a boo streak in my hair and she assessed the situation and thought I might just need a change. She likes to keep my hair healthy and soft looking. We decided to try something called a "balayage sombre". It basically made my hair look sun kissed. I am loving it. I cannot stop looking in the mirror. If you are looking for a person who is talented, can do a killer sexy blow out and is great with color and cutting look no further than Vanessa. She is very bubbly and kind. I am really satisfied with the way my hair looks and cannot wait to see what it looks like in many different styles. Thank you Vanessa!! read more

Barbara cut my hair and she totally surpassed any expectations I had, even with all these positive Yelp reviews. I showed her a picture and talked for half a minute about what I was hoping for. She got it right away, and gave me exactly what I wanted. She also talked me through what she was doing and showed me how she was fixing certain things with my hair that had been messed up before. The point is, I can't recommend her and the salon highly enough. I should also mention that the receptionist was lovely, kind, and respectful. Five stars without a doubt. read more

Selena is great! I didn't want a lot of length off my hair but i still needed a trim to start getting my hair more healthy! She did a really good job and on top of that recommended products for me to use because my hair is curly and dry. I love the way she blow dried my hair and gave me really good tips. I love knowledgeable hair stylist that are willing to help a sister out with their unruly hair like mine. I love the salon as well, its really cute and in a easy area to get too! read more

I just walked into Studio S randomly to get a consult on how to fix a bad haircut. I met with Stacy and she listened to my concerns and instantly I knew she could help me. Fortunately, she had a little time before her next appointment and was able to fit me in right then ! It is one of the BEST HAIRCUTS EVER ! I have finally found a new stylist ! I would highly recommend Stacy Wallace at Studio S. read more

Yesterday I went here to get a Brazilian wax from Sherry since there was a Groupon deal. I arrived here a little bit late since there was traffic. And it was graduation weekend, but she was understandable. Sherry was very friendly and quick. It was the quickest wax I've gotten, and she used high quality wax, which is not as painful than using strip wax. She did a great job! read more

I discovered Studio S through my roommate. I love the feel of Studio S. It's clean and usually running on time (max I've ever had to wait is 5 minutes). I have yet to see someone leave looking unhappy. I have alot of hair and am very cautious when it comes to cutting it. I forget the woman who cut my hair (Maranee I think) was so patient and garrulous that I didn't feel like a burden with my massive amount of hair. We passed the time and instead of feeling like I was at the psychiatrist she offered just as many details about her private life as I did. The haircut was cheap compared to what I'm used to paying in the Bay and what I would expect to pay in Santa Barbara. One side note, the esthetician is decent. Her wax has been so hot it's burned me and left me with temporary scabbing. After I told her she offered to tweeze my eyebrows which regrettably didn't have the same effect. That aside she is not an over zealous eyebrow shaper and gives a great, natural look. She only takes cash or check. Parking is really easy with a large garage right across the street. read more

Ode to Vanessa Kent at Studio S.... When it comes time do take care of my roots and crop my haystack, I'm admittedly a bit of a trauma case... I never know what I want, and am totally useless with helpful suggestions like looking in magazines and bringing in pictures. I make efforts here, I really do. Vanessa has repeatedly gone above and beyond to deal with me and agree on a style that looks good, but also fits my lifestyle. I don't own a hairdryer(and prob never will) and don't like the majority of products or the way they smell. Major pain in the tooty to a stylist. Vanessa deals with all this without batting an eye. She managed to make my hair look not only tamed, but shapely. The head and neck massage in the shampoo bowl is a big perk too. She also does my color, and we've created many custom reds- that only look fake when you want them to. Vanessa also does my boyfriend's hair. I think he just likes the shampoo bowl head/neck massage. She delivers a hair style that we both like that fits his personality, hair type, and upkeep level. I have roots. I should call her. read more

Angela is the esthetician at Studio S and she is amazing! I have been going to her since I was 14 or so. Her charge is reasonable and she is the most efficient wax specialist there is. I lived both in San Francisco and Los Angeles, she by far is the best I have found. Precise, gentle, clean, and a sweetheart. read more

Anyone can (or should if you had a degree) be able to cut hair effectively. Most of these reviews describe hair cutting, but a salon is supposed to be able to provide high quality hair services as well, such as dying hair. I came to this salon and consulted with a hairdresser (name omitted) to lighten my hair to blonde. After discussing all the options and procedures, we decided to go along with it. When the job was done, my hair looked brown. Almost darker than what I came in with. She told me, "it will lighten in the sun," and "some might wash out in the shower." I am curious why I would have to wash my hair and sit in the sun in order to have the color I came in to get? Needless to say, my hair never "lightened up on its own," and I was out nearly $300.00. If you need a haircut, any hair dresser can do that; if you want a real salon, keep looking. read more

I saw Carrie for an express Keratin treatment and haircut (where I decided to go bold with new bangs). She was great! The entire staff in there are very welcoming and pleasant. Brittany did my hair and I was blown away! She spent a ton of time with me, figuring out what I wanted and checking to make sure it was perfect. At the end she even styled it perfectly. I went and got a Brazilian from Sherry (found on Groupon) and it was probably one of the least painful Brazilians I've ever had. It was incredibly quick (but I also don't have a lot of hair) and Sherry was very friendly. I will say that she is incredibly direct and didn't even have me attempt to cover myself at first, just had me strip down and get on the table. I was a little bit taken aback because most of the time, estheticians will allow me some more modesty when I'm getting ready for it, but to be perfectly honest it was kind of refreshing. I mean, they're going to be seeing it anyway, so what's the point in covering up? The wax she used was also very high quality (she said it was Italian), and didn't even leave a residue or cause any irritation! I was very impressed because most places where I've gotten waxed usually leave at least a little residue. Furthermore, she said that you can get the Groupon price for a year with her! I'll definitely be coming back for my next Brazilian! read more

I have been going to Constance to get my hair done for over 10 years now! She is the only person I trust. I can tell her "do whatever you want with my hair," and she always give me the best, fun, new style that she knows is going to fit my face profile. She always makes me feel so beautiful and after every time I see her, the next day I always get compliments. She's been a hair stylist for over 30 years in Santa Barbara, but just recently moved to this location at Studio S. This is my favorite salon that she has worked at so far from staff being exceptionally helpful and they even had cake, coffee and water ready to offer to me (bonus points).
