We decided to visit Sanjh for a friend's birthday. It was quite busy on a Saturday evening. Our reservation was at 7 pm. The atmosphere was upscale and the prices reflected it. Our server was attentive and explained the menu was more "Modern Indian" food versus "Traditional Indian" food. We followed our server's lead and ordered the Bharwan Paneer Tikka along with traditional Somosas for appetizers. The Samosas were tasty but were a bit on the tiny side. The Bharwan Paneer Tikka was the standout dish of the evening. For our main dishes, we ordered the Dal Tadka, Bhindi Do Pyaza, and New Delhi Butter Chicken. We ordered some additional Garlic Naan and White Rice to accompany the main dishes. All the dishes were pretty standard without being too spicy. You might be a little disappointed if you like your Indian Food on the spicier level. We finished off with Rasmali and Kulfi Falooda. The Rasmali was the highlight of dessert. Went for the weekend buffet. It was pretty tasty, but I'm only giving this spot 3 stars because the $50 per adult and $25 per child 5+ years and above is not warranted. At that price, I would expect more gourmet ingredients - perhaps seafood curries, prawns, oysters, etc., or a greater variety of breads (not just butter naan, but also cheese naan, garlic naan, etc.). This buffet really doesn't hold itself above any of the other area restaurants that offer buffets for $15-$20. Also, there's minimal options for young kids (mine are 6 and 3), because everything has medium levels of spice to it. Celebrated our anniversary at Sanjh When the question came where to celebrate with fine dining vegetarian options, from friends recommendations and reviews in Yelp and Google narrowed down to Sanjh and Jashan. Reviews pointed Sushmita's service at Sanjh and decided to celebrate at Sanjh. In the open table reservations, spelled out few requirements and expected a response, thought they are too busy hence didn't respond. But the moment we walked in they greeted, remembered every aspect of our asks. Mr Akash, general manager of the restaurant came and greeted, inquired about food. Ambiance is very good too. Food quality is excellent. We will be returning to celebrate more occasions here. In my opinion, Customer interacting Staff like Sushmita and Aakash coupled with mgmt decision not to compromise on quality of food will be key to succeed any restaurant business. High Tea at Sanjh in Irving. Had a great time trying out Sanjh's Diwali High Tea menu. We were able to choose our own tea and then our own savory bites, sweets, and sandwiches. An exiting twist compared to other high teas with set menus, or menus for the table specifically. Between all four of us, we were able to try everything . They have a nice variety of loose leaf teas that are steeped at the table and a good variety of bites to try as well. Everything tasted good but the vibes were definitely giving fancy high Tea. I started off with the anarkali mocktail, and this drink was amazing! We ordered the dahi puri as an appetizer, and it tasted good. Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits, and I was pleased to see it used as a garnish on the dahi puri. It was plated well, and I loved the crunch of the puri as I ate this dish. I thought the dahi puri had a great mix of flavors in terms of sweet and spice. Paneer is my favorite Indian dish, and the way the plate was presented with smoke added to the dining experience. While I thought the crispiness added from the tandoor was great, the paneer wasn't as soft as it should be on the inside. It's difficult to conquer this cooking technique of crunchy outside, softer interior in dishes such as fried mac & cheese balls, fried cheese with honey, and more. For the main, we ordered the gulnar kofta. This dish was plated with edible silver that resembled a foil-like texture. The idea of figs mixed with paneer to create the kofta was interesting. However, this dish was more on the sweeter side than I would have liked. I wish there was some spice to balance out the sweetness of the fig. Garlic naan to accompany this dish was great! The rasmalai presentation was unlike any rasmalai presentation I have ever seen. I loved the visual presentation that included the waitress flambéing the dessert. I thought the dessert was perfect with the white chocolate mousse, however the cookie that it came with felt slightly stale. Only thing I would change is having a crunchier and fresh cookie kind of like a pirouline. Our waitress, Sushmita, went above and beyond in terms of her service. The staff was very attentive (and helped when the toddler made a little mess). We ordered a large variety of food but I tried the spinach kebab (spicy and absolutely delicious. I knew I was in the right place when the waitstaff was able to pronounce my name correctly and more than half the tables were old South Asian men (in other words, my age). The food is quite good, a sampling from across the subcontinent but their strongest dishes are the usual Northern Indian choices like butter chicken and the goat curry. Service was a bit sketchy though -- they checked on us a few times early on, then disappeared for a while when we needed things, and eventually came back. Unfortunately, all the breads were overcooked and borderline burnt, which took away from the experience. Having read about the difficulty in obtaining a reservation soon after the restaurant opened, I was intrigued. Fine dining Indian restaurants can be considered as oxymoronic, given the nature of the cuisine. Which is a shame since south Asian cuisine is vast and has much to offer. Our server, Akhriti was the star of the night. She was kind, prompt and effortlessly explained the various drinks and desserts. She seems enthusiastic and was invested in our experience. I must note that a 20% service charge is applied on all checks as gratuity automatically. Given this, the service could've been lackluster, but it was anything but. Items we ordered: Mocktails: - Dilli 6: Absolute let down. The drink was served in a highball glass and was identical to a Masala soda I could get at Kwality Ice Cream for ~$5. Unfortunately this was $12. - Anarkali: calling this a mocktail is simply misleading and inadequate. It was a subpar experience because this was more juice than anything else. I don't remember if it had pineapple in it, but if it did, that was the most overwhelming flavor profile. Also $12. Dessert: - Rasmalai: our server recommended we get this. Her description was vivid, persuasive and helpful. She explained that this was a contemporary take on a classical dessert. We enjoyed it, but once again, definitely not as much as it was priced: $25. None of the flavors in the dessert seemed unique. Given our experience with drinks and dessert, we will not be visiting again. Maybe they truly have entrees/apps that would knock our socks off, but if our current experience was any indication, I wouldn't bet on it. I will mention again, Akriti our server was extremely kind and she truly did a remarkable job. I just wish the fine dining aspect wasn't a gimmick used to up charge guests. I mean, $7 for a single naan? $35 for biryani? That's absurd. Maybe the biryani truly has something magical, but how can you justify $7 for a naan? Top notch restaurant with a great view of the fountains and water features of the Las Colinas area Restaurant has a great high end ambiance with excellent customer first service. Amazing customer service! Incredible really! Modern ambience and so chic! Loved their punjabi style food! So tasty. However believe they can lower the amount of heavy cream and nuts in their preparation so the food is enjoyed and doesn't feel heavy on the stomach! But so flavorful! We went for an official lunch, team of 4. Every item was made to perfection. Seems pricey, but worth every dollar. Mutton curry, chicken tikka, and best part falooda.
