We recently dropped by on a Saturday for the buffet. We had not been here in a long time. The service was prompt and we were seated right away. The server let us know about the buffet. It was priced at $24.99 which I thought was a pretty good deal. Our 9 year son does not like Indian Food so we were able to order Chicken Tender and French Fries for him. We finished off with some tasty desserts including rice pudding and mango custard. The ambiance was nice with nice tables and booths. I am sure it is more upscale in the evening when the buffet is not open. We will definitely be coming back again. read more

Went to an event here and enjoyed it. There was not a lot of people in the restaurants, so the service was pretty fast. The inside is very calm and peaceful and it was dark. A good place to have a date night. The food was fantastic. My favorite was the chicken tikka masala with the rice. It was very creamy and tasty. Lots of flavor, not bland at all. The kind of place you stop calling a restaurant and start calling "ours" I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants. India Palaceis the only one where I've been greeted by name on my second visit. The food. This is cooking with a memory behind it. The butter chicken doesn't taste like the sweet, orange stuff you get everywhere; the tomato is roasted down until it's almost smoky, the cream restrained, the fenugreek unmistakable. The rogan josh falls apart under a fork and leaves that slow, blooming heat that builds three bites in rather than announcing itself immediately. The dal makhani has clearly been on the stove for the better part of a day -- you can taste the difference between hours and shortcuts. But the real tell is the vegetarian side of the menu, which too many places treat as an obligation. The baingan bharta is charred properly over flame. The chana masala has depth instead of just tang. And the paneer is house-made -- soft, squeaking slightly, nothing like the rubbery blocks I've resigned myself to elsewhere. The bread deserves its own paragraph. Garlic naan blistered and pulled straight from the tandoor, still too hot to hold, shattering into steam when you tear it. Ask for the laccha paratha if they have it. The service. Attentive without hovering. Someone noticed I was struggling with the heat level and quietly brought raita I hadn't ordered and wasn't charged for. Water glasses never hit empty. When I asked what to order for a friend who "doesn't like Indian food," the server didn't upsell -- they asked three thoughtful questions and recommended something perfect and inexpensive. The ambience. Warm lighting, low enough to feel intimate but bright enough to actually see your food. Real spice in the air, not air freshener pretending to be it. Music present but never competing with conversation. It's comfortable enough for a Tuesday alone with a book and handsome enough for an anniversary. The people. This is why I keep coming back. Owners come by every table, not the performative walk-through, but genuinely sitting down for a minute, asking about your week, remembering that you mentioned a job interview last month. When my order was delayed once, they brought out samosas unprompted and refused to let me pay for them. That isn't a service technique. That's just how they are. Go hungry. I came here around 6 pm Sunday and we got seated immediately. They also have customer reserved parking right in front of the restaurant which is so convenient. The ambiance was very upscale and clean, had a romantic vibe with the dim lighting. We ordered chai, pani puri, samosa chaat, and a main dish. Everything was soooooo delicious and the portions were huge! I have a low spice tolerance too so it was great that it was exactly up to my standard. I ended up needing to box up half the meal afterwards which the workers did for me which was so kind of them. The service was amazing and I drank a lot of water. Look - I've travelled to India many times, so I feel qualified to rate the food - it's good. Solid. Nothing out of this world, but well above average. The paneer in my paneer masala was actually baked, it had good flavor. The free chutneys they provided were really tasty. I'm sure the sit down experience here is wonderful, however, as a visitor ordering takeout, I had some issues... First - the price... $25 for a curry? I understand inflation is real, but I live in Los Angeles and I can get way better curry for less than $20... Secondly, I ordered rice pudding (Kheer). Though it advertised raisins, mine had zero raisins. If I'm paying $6.50 for a dessert, it better come as advertised! Finally, even though I requested them, no plates or utensils were provided. Went here with a large group for their weekend lunch buffet and it was so good. The price is around $25 and they also do the buffet during weekdays as well. The manager Dolly was so sweet and kept checking on us to ensure we had everything we needed and the service was amazing and continuous, constantly asking if we needed anything, clearing plates, bring us fresh dosas from the dosa station. I mean it was really attentive. The space inside is fairly small tbh and no frills, but the food makes up for it. They have a pani puri station, an aloo chat station, and a freshly made dosa station. All delicious. They also have a buffet with all the meat dishes: butter chicken, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, goat curry, fish, chicken Tikka and a separate one for the veggie dishes: mutter paneer, naan, saag, malai kofta, hakka noodles, etc. I wish they did have more veggie options considering they only had mutter paneer, maybe a gobi dish or baingan or even palak paneer. I think that would've been a good addition for me. The food was really tasty, and for dessert they offered rice pudding, mango custard and my fav gulab jamuns. This is my favorite Indian spot in Dallas! I ordered the Chicken Korma (extra extra spicy). It was HOT but wasn't unbearable and the flavors are soo delicious you want to just keep eating. Paired that with some rice and Garlic Naan and all washed down with a classic Indian Beer Taj Mahal... wow this place is truly a hidden gem in the area. It's very clean and the service is on point. It had been many years since we ate here. No particular reason why other than so many different restaurants to try in DFW. We were in the neighborhood after the kid had a swimming competition so we had lunch here on a Saturday. The restaurant was quite busy, which was something of a surprise. Another surprise was the lunch buffet. I had expected to order from a menu, but the buffet was large (at least 20 items) with a good mix of meat dishes and non-meat dishes. There is also a dessert table, which I did not try. So we opted for the buffet. I tried chicken tikka masala, which was not spicy at all but had good flavor; tandoori chicken which had nice flavor and was smoky; saag (creamed spinach) which was spicy and excellent; yellow rice; potato curry (not spicy) and potatoes were really soft; some veggie dish with cheese and peas that was spicy; and naan bread. Everything was warm and tasted fresh. Naan bread was not as hot or crispy as I like, and tasted like it had been sitting under a warmer, but it served its purpose. Of note was the tandoori chicken. It is not easy to keep tandoori chicken from drying out at a buffet, but the three pieces I had were tender and while not exactly juicy, were not dry. As you can see, I definitely overate, which is why we try to avoid buffets! The Wife had much the same as me but also tried the beef coconut curry which she said was excellent; and the goat curry which was excellent and really spicy. So, the food was very good and we had no complaints. The ambience is fine, the restaurant appears to have been remodeled since our last visit many years ago. The eating area is smaller and darker than I remember. There is now a bar which I don't remember, and that is probably a money maker. Service was a bit slow, but to be fair one guy was doing the bar and the entire dining area where we were seated by himself. So he was busy. The reason for 4 stars is that the buffet was $23 for an adult, which I think it is rather high. Kids cost $15.95. Drinks are separate. So, with tax and tip it was an $80 lunch, which is a lot I think. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the food and definitely will not wait so long to return. read more

Great variety with many dishes I've not seen elsewhere. India Palace has a very upscale vibe and a weekend lunch buffet that includes cook to order stations (check for hours). There were so many delicious items, I was only able to eat a little of each! The Chicken Tikka Masala is as good as I've had anywhere, and the Chili Chicken was a combination of sweet, spicy and savory that will have you wanting more! I also tried some Chicken Biryani, Beef Madras, Goat & Broccoli Curry, Vegetable Samosa, Mixed Vegetables and Saag. The cook to order station featured Masala Dosa with Cutney and Panipuri with spicy green chili and/or sweet tamarind sauce. Both are something to be experienced. Dosa is a thin, savory crepe made from fermented rice. Panipuri is a light, fried hollow sphere that's filled with potato and chickpea and then to a spicy or sweet sauce. They are eaten in one bite and are a pop of flavor that is unlike anything else I've tried. India Palace also offers a full lunch and dinner menu and a full bar. Hi, foodie friends! Yes, my review on their buffet last week was just done BUT I was craving them again today. I'd noticed on their website, they have a "lunch box" for $13 - and that sounds just fine to me since I was in a rush. I called in my order for lunch box with chicken tikka masala and the charming person who took my order recommended the yellow dal (lentils). She said it would be ready in 20 mins. Undeterred, I whipped out of my office and took the short drive there. She went back to check on my order and it was already ready. I was so excited because the box also has a plentiful amount of rice and naan. I think I may have been very hungry because the aroma tortured me on the way back to my office with it's delicious smell! I hurried back to my desk in the corner and unpackaged everything. The naan, oh my god, was a full piece of bread. It is the most fluffy, buttery naan I've ever had. I took one bite of the yellow dal, discarded my spoon and began scooping it up with pieces of the bread. The chicken tikka masala is the best I've ever had. Normally, I think this dish is basic but it was done so very well. The basmati rice was perfectly seasoned and had those aromatic cumin seeds that I love. I couldn't eat it all. I saved half the naan, the tikka masala and the rice for lunch tomorrow. I cannot wait! So for $14.07 + tax, it is quite a deal for two meals. What are you waiting for? Go there, get some. Life is too short for boring food. I'd highly recommend you bring some little containers just in case you repackage the food, it is helpful! read more

We have been frequent in this restaurant for the past 35 years. Tonight we had a horrible experience. I had to go to the restroom and I was in the water closet when the lights went out and the room turned totally black you couldn't see, and unfortunately, I'm use a Rollator or mobility scooter and I was fumbling around and tripped because I couldn't see where I was. We mentioned this to the manager is oh yeah I've had that happen to me too. It's the sensor to which we replied well we will suggest that you get the sensor fixed. He says well I'll talk to the Oner about it and that's where they left it and I am just absolutely flabbergasted. That's a hat the way we were treated. Secondly I have never complained about the food there before but tonight our food was terribly over salted everything we tried was over overly salted. I feel like India Palace has really upped its game over the past few years. I've never had problems with the food but I think it has continued to improve. Their many varieties of naan are made fresh and are very flavorful. The dishes themselves are made very well. Obviously North Indian cuisine tends to be very saucy and rich at times, but they do a great job at balancing out the flavors so I don't just feel like I'm drinking spicy tomato paste like I do at some restaurants. Honestly, my biggest gripe about this place used to be its terrible toilet paper, and I don't know if they've improved in that area because I desperately try to avoid needing to use toilet paper when I'm eating at a restaurant. However, the service has definitely improved, to the point that I found myself actively impressed at multiple points throughout my dine tonight. Although I wished crayons and coloring sheets had been proactively offered to my kids instead of me having to ask for them, I appreciate that they had these available. Our server at one point noticed that an iced tea had not been drunk and that the ice had melted; he proactively offered to refresh it. And, I appreciated that when we were finished eating, he unobtrusively cleaned off the rice and random stuff from our table (kids are messy) so we could enjoy our last bit of time there and contemplate (and order) dessert without sitting in a mess of our own filth. Some places don't give a crap and just clean it after you leave. Finally, I dig that these guys use Toast so you can pay your check from the QR code on the receipt without having to give your card to anyone. So many times, the check kills the experience; the server kind of forgets about you at the end, it takes 5-10 minutes to bring the check, they take, then maybe another 5-10 minutes to bring it back to the table... it happens! Terrible timing too since that's literally the period where i'm deciding how much to tip. Being able to just take care of it myself from my phone is awesome and saves everyone time. The only thing better would be if there was a QR code you could scan on the table like on some systems so you can order things or access the check at-will. I don't understand why all restaurants don't use a system like that; it would save so much time. I only see it at those conveyor belt sushi places (and only sometimes). All in all, I think India Palace has struck the right balance across the many complicated variables involved in running a restaurant. This palace is way past its prime. There is a reason monarchy's around the world have collapsed. The naan was pita. And not even good pita at that. The green chicken was boiled and dumped in a curdled sauce. The saving grace is that the lamb biryani is generally really good. Just wish someone would pay attention to detail and not half ass what they serve. read more

Boasting a great Indian lunch buffet with Northern and Southern dishes, India Palace basically just offers yummy food. The servers are hard working and attentive. Many are from India and seem like they are personally committed. The ambiance was casual and kind of busy feeling, but friendly. We had to wait a little while to be seated because we got there on a Sunday afternoon. It's possible it would feel less busy on another day. All the food was tasty and fresh tasting. I eat a lot of vegetables and was happy to fill my plate with so many different veggie dishes. The meat dishes are succulent as well. There is a crepe station and a dessert station for those who like this. We've been eating there for years (albeit infrequently due to it being far for us).
