Quite possibly the best service I've ever had! The clothes and furniture were top notch! Everything I bought was quality material and I'm happy to it it in my home! When I sold them clothes, they gave me more than I expected to leave with and when I asked about the clothes they didn't accept, they were extremely polite about why they didn't take them (not the style that's selling at the moment, slight stains or tears, ect.) I am so sad to say that Sandy's is now extremely overpriced, and the customer service is less than great. I would guess that the increase in prices is due to having to compensate for their new rent, but I'm not sure. Sandy's used to be affordable and a great place to find stylish, name brands, for less. Now, the designer clothes they DO sell are priced at the same prices you will find at Macy's, and the Walmart clothes are more expensive than they are at the corporation! I have to say though that the worst part of going here is the customer service. I went with my infant in a stroller and an employee literally stood over my son and re organized wallets while I stood there dumbfounded. She proceeded to drop one of the wallets, just missing his head. No apology, no regard for what she was doing...I was baffled. It's just so disappointing after years of being such a great place to shop! read more

But today I was with a friend and she started looking at the clothes, quickly filling up a basket with great fines ... so I started looking as well and also found a nice selection of quality items. I visited Sandy's today for the first time, and I was amazed by their selection of clothing and home decor. Many of the items were on sale for 50% off, and the full price items were fairly cheap as well! I ended up buying a Topshop dress for $10, tank top for $5, and cookbooks for $.99 each. I was, and I do mean was, a weekly shopper at Sandy's and referred customers there until October 12. At the time I was there with a long time customer who referred me. I visited there not looking for furniture but found a table and four chairs that did not have a price tag. I inquired as to the price of the table and was quoted a price of $250.00, I asked the sales persons to check the price to ensure that it included the four chairs, she checked and said yes the table and four chairs was $250.00. I asked that the table and four chairs be put on hold because I needed to make space in my car plus I wanted to sell my table to go towards the purchase. I was given until 1:30 on October 13 to pick up the table and four chairs however on the morning of October 13, I received a call from Sandy's informing me that the price I was quoted was incorrect and the set was actually $499.00, the sales person got it wrong. The person who called vehemently refused to honor the price I was quoted and in fact told me that if I had purchased it on October 12 I would of had to return it or pay the difference, which was not the response I was expecting. She also said that it was probably better that I did not purchase it, because this item was placed on consignment and Sandy's had a contract to sell it for a specific price, again not the answer I was expecting because if it was not ready or priced to sell then it shouldn't have been on the sales floor or the right had should have known what the left hand was doing. In this case, no one knew what they were doing and they quoted the price not me. The person who called, if I had her name I would post it, was rude and unapologetic, her focus was the money (the sell of the item) and not me as a customer. At no point during this call did I receive the level of customer service that would be expected from a company who was in the wrong. This entire exchange was Sandy's error and at no point did they do anything for me as a customer to rectify their error, in fact, it came across as if I was in the wrong and made the mistake, which maybe I did make a mistake when I walked in the door. While this place has some nice stuff, they are really over priced. They used to not be this way, but over the past few years they have become too big for their own good. It used to be a place where you could make some decent money selling some of your items, but now they rarely take anything, and if they do they overcharge for it. Sandy's is a nice store. Their clothing runs the gamut from children's to prom and other dressy event gowns. Household and decorative items come in all the time. Check in often; it it's not there today, it may be tomorrow. They will pay you the day you come in with anything they accept from you for resale. Nice staff. read more

I was shocked at the prices of the furniture at Sandy's. For consignment, it just doesn't make sense. You can go to Leonard's or Furniture Kingdom next door and buy NEW furniture for half of the price! I visited a few consignment furniture shops in Gainesville and found some great deals and helpful service. A friend of mine recommended I try out Sandy's Consignment Boutique, so I drove out to browse through their inventory. The majority of the furniture was scuffed up (and the dim light made me feel like they were purposefully trying to get away with more cosmetic damage), yet still had price tags indicating only a small knock off from the original NEW prices! I even checked the West Elm website and found something new at West Elm that was $799. Sandy's had priced it $599 and it was dinged up and the drawers were wobbly and didn't close easily at all. I simply cannot understand shopping for furniture at Sandy's if you could just drive down the road to another shop and get something antique and beautiful for less than $200. read more

Having taken items over for my daughter on several occations, I was shocked by the treatment I & a friend of mine received recently. I have never puchased any type of clothing there before only home furnishings. So I only know that for the things I looked at during a preconsultation trip to check out the clothes, we brought new, still with tags clothing, never worn, from the spring season 2 months prior to the visit. So I know the clothes weren't overused, & older style as the young woman stated who took a look at the items we brought in. unless she thought by saying older, that meant she figured I was too old for their demographic. We both had brought in resort wear, all size 4 thru 8 (not bathing suits or undies) but stuff we had impuse puchased on vaca & really didn't need because it was too young looking for us personally. I also had 2 pair of name brand shoes (9 west & Steve Madden) never worn, still in boxes. The only thing I can figure is that if you but on the questionaire that you are not a student, they dont give you the time of day. Alot of the stuff I saw already hanging there had stains & looked used, sio I have no clue, unless Sandy herself is reliving her childhood though the store & thinks she has a mission to compete with Platos Closet. Maybe I am old fashiod, but I believe in treating people with respect when you speak to them & not using rude behavior hidden behind a cute bubblegum popping teenage face to insult someone due to their age. read more

I have found some nice things over the years but the customer service at Sandy's is sorely lacking. Quite frankly, the last two times I was there the college student checking my items brought in was very snooty and and did not even look at my items before denying them. She said, "Those dresses are too formal. They won't sell." I looked at her and said, "I beg your pardon. These are Lilly Pulitzer dresses." I left and went to WeeCycle. They bought all of them on the spot. On another occasion, I was treated very similarly with a lovely dollhouse that I had brought in to trade and was abruptly turned away. One of Sandy's customers bought the dollhouse off of me in their parking lot. I think the staff need more training in customer service and in what items sell and what items to turn away. I don't feel like this store caters to all types of shoppers and is trying to be the cool consignment place for university students only. It used to have more of a family feel with great customer service. I feel like I waste my time every time I try to bring nice items to trade at this place. read more

I used to go to this place at their original location on 13th street by the McDonalds when I was in college. When I saw that they had moved I figured it was going to be better. I mainly went here to sell my clothes I no longer wore and what they take depends on who is working. I have brought in hundreds of dollars worth of brand name clothes at any given time and only a few items would be taken. Kind of shocking when I have Coach, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Victoria's Secret Pink, etc. I used to able to firmly say that the money I got for my items they did take was more than say Platos Closet but not anymore. Ever since they moved to the bigger location I think their prices are kind of outrageous. My mom even said "$5 for a glass cup?" The selection of items for sale, though bigger, is still mediocre at best. Another thing that ticked me off when I was there recently was the workers' lack of customer service and complete ignorance. The girl working in the back taking clothes noticed that a girl standing behind me was the same race as me and assumed we knew each other and was going to put our clothes together. I had to blatantly tell her I did not know this girl and we would be doing separate transactions. Stereotype much? read more

I have also have experienced the same rude attitude from the staff. Especially the ones behind the counter where you drop off your clothes. I brought in two huge bags full of clothes, shoes, and purses and they only picked 3 items. Honestly the clothes they have there are very reasonably priced but the staff's attitude brings down the place. The only nice person that was there was a little boy running the clothes back to the racks from the dressing room and thanked me for coming in! I figured with people writing some many complaints about the staff that they might try and get it together in that aspect. read more

The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because of the woman who contacted me after I was waiting for my items to be "reviewed". The last 2 times I have brought items here I have been offered $2-$6. And these are for non used kid clothing or kid toys. I don't think it should take your cashiers 1-2 hours to say that they are only going to accept 1 piece of clothing out of basket of clothes. And then only offer change for that 1 item. Also the people in the back of your store should be more friendly and chirper, like a person would be if they like their job. Honestly I'm disappointed in this place. I have been a Sandy's patron since high school (12 years ago). I regularly visit to buy and sell and always have a pleasant experience. Today, Sandy and her staff went ABOVE and BEYOND with incredible customer service and genuine care during my visit. I had an emergency situation and they dropped everything to help me, walk me through it and ensure my son and I were ok. It made me proud of the city I live in and the small business owners who support it. I will continue to buy and sell at Sandy's and I encourage you to do the same. Just okay. This store specializes in things for college age and babies, so if you're looking for high-end or fashion, go elsewhere. When I took in new clothes, mostly from Nordstrom, the only thing accepted were two tops from Banana Republic. They clearly serve a demographic that doesn't include career/business or upscale. The furniture and decorative accessories are definitely over-priced. Example: picture frames I saw at Michael's for $.99...tagged at Sandy's for $2.99. It's such a shame to leave a negative review. Sandy's does have nice clothing most of the time, and for a good price. The problem is the staff behind the counter. I understand that these are mostly college kids trying to pay the bills. Their attitudes are always TERRIBLE. The girls are exteremely rude. They should really do some research on customer service. I've been in there multiple times. Each and every time I've ever been in there, I've been made to feel like I am bothering them by merely walking in the door. True shame for a local business. I've been going to Sandy's for about 6 years now. At first, it was the best - efficient employees and cute clothing at a reasonable price. I've been selling the clothes I don't use/want there for a while now but the last few times the wait time for the buybacks has been ridiculous. Two hours or more. When it's busy on weekends I understand, but when half your parking lot is empty and the store isn't overcrowded, then two hours is ridiculous. The prices they offer for used clothing seem to have gone down as well (they gave me $4 dollars for an item they were pricing at $14.99). Add to that the line at the counter where I stood for 5 minutes before finally setting the one pair of shorts I had down and promptly taking my happy butt to Flashbacks. Flashbacks on University may not be as pretty but the buyback prices there are much more fair (I don't feel as ripped off as I do at Sandy's) and they have a quicker turn around. I am sad to see the quality of Sandy's degrade but it happens I suppose. read more

Very disappointed in Sandy's. It seems each time I try to give it a chance they let me down. The clothes almost ALWAYS have something wrong with them. I have come home multiple times with clothes where the buttons are missing or it has small rips so please please look over the item very well before you purchase. Last time I went, I found a dress I really liked but the strap was in need of full repair so I asked for a discount. They offered 10% I was a little confused as it was obvious I would have to take it home and repair it so I asked if 15% would be OK and they refused. Come on... really? I'm not coming back. I have been shopping at Sandy's for about ten years now. There is a reason I choose Sandy's over other consignment shops. It's a very friendly environment where all the employees are always joyful and ready to help wherever assistance is needed. The pricing of their items are very fair and they have a great variety of items that they sell! This is the type of store where you won't leave empty handed! Another great attribute is the cleanliness. The store smells fresh unlike other consignment stores that just smelly musty and like moth balls. I was a huge fan of Sandy's for many years and have referred many customers to the store until recently. The store refused to honor a price they had on furniture. The furniture to purchase actually was marked one price and when the store manager found out, it was determined that it was too low, so they upped the price by $250.00. They said it was a "mistake". What they should have done was honored the purchase price and the advertising price, but they did not. They lost a long time customer and I will never refer another family member or friend to the store. Customer service is better than a dollar and sometimes you need to remember how you became successful. read more

I took several clothing items of upscale name-brand clothes, most of which were very little or never worn. The staff was less than friendly, and my Maggie London's, Chico's as well as Talbots, even a Lilly Rubin dress went back out the door with me. Not good enough. Believe me, most of the clothes I saw in there were not even in the same league. They made no offer whatsoever, and bought only a QVC pearl necklace, which had been a present & I had considered it less than name brand. It is totally overpriced and they give you next to nothing for items your trying to sell. I have brought in name brand clothes in perfect condition and they turned them away but then I looked on the shelves and all the had was really crap. This store has gone downhill a lot in the past couple years! They use to only take name brands but now you will find wal-mart and target brand clothing that they sell for pretty much what they cost brand new! Its silly! I must say that whoever sandy is she is smart to move to a larger store and to put pretty knick-knacks in the front window. It looks clean and is well organized and there is lots of space to roam the store. But buyer beware! I say this because she certainly has fooled the public as to her WAY OVERPRICED and low quality items. I shop around quite a bit and do research before purchasing and I am very disappointed. I had two experiences with Sandy's; buying and selling. Buying: I have browsed all sections of Sandy's and I can say that shopping the clothes wracks are just like any other consignment shop. A lot of used and worn clothing that is much cheaper than buying at a retail store. The shoe wrack is a joke. A lot of very used shoes that are too overpriced for me to be convinced that I would ever want to put my foot in. The baby items are seriously overpriced for the quality and cleanliness. I looked at bassinets, cribs, gliders, and other baby items and all of it was dirty and, yep, way overpriced. For example: I saw a crib that was probably 2 years old with teeth marks and other various dings. The price $250, found a new one same model on Amazon for $275. A wooden glider probably 15 years old with very dark soiled and worn blue cushion that wasn't removable $99. Granted it was wood, it was still a piece of very dirty crap. Lets get to the worst part, the household furniture and decorations. Don't go there expecting to find a reasonably priced piece of furniture. Everything is over $200 and a lot of it can be $1000 or more! I can go up the road to Cecile's and find antiques in great shape or fairly new items for far less than that. I really think the buyer is paying for the hefty lease instead of getting a good bargain. Selling: Yeah just like other comments left here she certainly is a low baller with purchasing items and her staff can be rude. Here was my experience. I brought in 3 used mens button up shirts, 5 pairs of never worn expensive wedge shoes from madden, a never used 3 year old brushed nickel lamp and clean lamp shade, a clean stroller (I broke it down, unscrewed parts, and washed and cleaned it myself) without signs of wear that was on amazon for $100, and a few women's tops of light wear. She offered me $25. $15 for the stroller, $5 for the mens shirts, and $5 for the lamp! Are you freaking serious??? She gave back the rest of the items and said they weren't in style anymore which I found shocking since their entire shoe wrack is full of outdated used and worn out crap! That lamp alone was worth $75 brand new and I never even used it! It makes me wonder what she offered those poor schmucks to buy all that really overpriced furniture. In conclusion: Don't think you are getting a good deal at Sandy's unless you are buying the house hold knick-knacks, jeans, dresses and children's books. The rest I would look around online to see if you could get the same thing new or look on craigslist for used furniture instead. Don't bring her items to sell thinking you will get a good deal either. She is taking advantage of the fact that you spent time and energy to clean it, pack it up, and bring it in and are willing to just get rid of it. Post it on Craigslist and even if you sell it for pennies on the dollar that you spent, you will still end up with more money in your pocket read more

NOT a place to go for customer service or families. I have gone to Sandy's a total of 3 times and every time I have been disappointed. No selection of maternity clothes, a poor selection of children's clothes and overpriced clothes for everyone else with the very rare good deal. Two times I've gone to sell clothes and been insulted. The first time I had never been before so I wasn't sure what to expect. They took over an hour and a half to go through 10 items, then didn't accept anything which was fine. I did not appreciate the snide remarks that one male employee made to a female employee about the fact that I brought the clothes in a reusable shopping bag. The second time I brought in some baby items I had bought from them a few months before as well as a few things that my daughter never got to wear because she grew out of it before we even took the tags off. I checked the website before I went and made sure everything fit their requirements and checked their hours and when I got there the girl looked over at my basket and told me that they stopped taking things in 10 minutes before I got there and I'll have to bring it back tomorrow. It said nothing on the website about them not buying within an hour of closing. The girl wrinkled her nose and said well I'll just have to look at it later. I have shopped consignment as long as I can remember. Sandy's old store, I did not shop at much if at all. I found it very dark and hard to look through. Yesterday was my first time to the new store. I found it very clean and much better lighting. I was dropping off a few things to sell, they did not take too much, but some I have a feeling it was because it was out of season. I understand most people feel their stuff is as good as gold, so I do not read too much into peoples reviews. As I was shopping around I found things very hard to understand. First: I found a Miss Me Skirt for $7.99 (wow! for a shopper that is a the best!! but for the girl that sold it I'm very sorry) Second: that skirt was next to a forever 21 skirt for $6.99. I'm sorry Forever 21 skirts cost lest then $20 New and well this one is more like a $14.99 new. I did also find Miss Me Jeans for $14.99. In the end, Sandy's is not my first stop to sell my clothing to but, I will stop by and shop around. Staff can always be more friendly almost every where you go. They are human just like us. I understand someone can have a bad day. The way I see it, get their names. Let the first time slide and try again. If it is like that every time, call the store use names and times. Also, remember people only seem to talk about the bad. Call the stores and wright reveiws about the good too. read more
