Last month I visited this thrift store with my elderly mother. When we entered, we noticed a "service dogs only" sign. My mother has a legally recognized service dog in Massachusetts, so we didn't anticipate any issues. We spent about 15 minutes browsing and had items we intended to purchase. When my mother's back started hurting, I grabbed her small dog to help. At that point, two employees approached us in an aggressive and confrontational manner, demanding to know why she had the dog and insisting it needed to leave. The way this was handled was extremely upsetting and, frankly, humiliating, especially toward an elderly customer with anxiety in the first place. Rather than addressing the situation respectfully, we felt singled out and surrounded while simply trying to shop. I ended up taking the dog out to the car, and we left shortly after. Unfortunately, this experience completely overshadowed what should have been a simple visit. Between the high prices and the way customers are treated, I would strongly recommend choosing one of the many other thrift stores in the area. Compassion and basic respect go a long way, and this was a very disappointing experience. read more

Great place to thrift! Store is clean and well organized with a nice variety of inventory. Prices are just right and staff kind and professional. I'll be back soon! read more

The prices were extremely high for what the products were. You'd have better luck finding the item on eBay for 30+% less. Only plus I'd say was that the workers were kind. read more

The workers are friendly and the place is packed with shoes, clothing, home decor, housewares, luggage, you name it. Most things are overpriced ($20 for a platter) and the vast majority of the shoes and clothing looked quite worn. read more

Outreach Thrift Store - Entrance - Thrift Stores Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

This was once the best thrift store in Gainesville. But sence the owner retired it has gone down hill fast. The new owner is rude to his customers and employees. Prices are up. Service is down. We no longer feel welcome read more

Worst thrift store EVER! Poor organization-like a yard sale gone awry. And the pricing OMG-so high it was ridiculous! Want a dress? $20. Want a jacket? $40 want some little porcelain Chachki? $15 Some things were priced higher than the full, brand new retail price! Stay away from here. Rude people and expensive junk! read more

Loved this place! Huge selection at the right price. Staff were courteous & helpful. I'll be back!

This is by far my favorite thrift place in Gainesville. They get new items every day, so the selection is always nice and fresh. Every staff member is very attentive and extremely generous. This place is my home away from home. Love you Outreach! read more

amazing service. the younger staff member was very outgoing and helpful! I found many vintage items and was pleasantly surprised by the fair prices on the clothes. I love this store and I definitely will be visiting again. read more

Best thrift store in Gainesville!!! Amazing selections !!! Amazing deals !!! Five stars all day !!!

friendly staff and was able to find some great clothing pieces here for great prices!

The staff was not wearing masks- there was a tall grey haired man, I believe the owner, who wasn't wearing one. I've had multiple bad experiences at this thrift store witnessing the staff be extremely unprofessional. read more

This store is terrible. One of the three staff members was not wearing a mask, and another one pulled down her mask as she walked by me. There are many costumers and they are not checking costumer's temperatures. Oh...did I mention that the worker was coughing? I hate this store. read more

I have been a customer at Outreach for several years. Love the store and the items. The manager, (old gray haired man) should be removed. He is incredibly rude! My husband and I tried to donate items and he informed us that we had garage sale items! We had very nice things! We called in advance and arrived an hour before closing. He clearly didn't want to be bothered. This is a store that relies on donations!! We went to Goodwill instead. They were happy to accept our donation. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place. INCREDIBLY well organized and prices that just can't be beat! I've always found the salespeople to be kind and helpful. read more

My husband and I were greeted by the employees when we first walked in. I purchased a belt for a $1 and my husband picked two dress shirts for $3. We were impressed by the fact they had clothes categorized and all items in the store. Price tags were more than reasonable. read more

As good as it gets for thrift stores. Inexpensive, clean.

Happened to be in Gainesville and Yelp advised this was the closest 5 star rated thrift store near me, so I decided to check it out. The public ladies room was very clean, which was a pleasant surprise. Store doesn't carry any furniture. It primarily carries clothing (lots of clothing), some linens, very few toys, very few small appliances. I don't get the 5 star rating from others because the selection wasn't very exciting and the prices were much steeper than I am used to paying in thrift shops. The staff was nice. Maybe these are typical prices for thrift stores in Gainesville but they still seemed over priced to me. read more

This is one of my favorite shops to find kids clothing for very good prices. I always stock up on school clothing from here. Most is kept in very good condition. They have a pretty large selection of shoes as well. The housewares section is small and they have a decent area for purses/handbags. There is plenty of women's clothing and they even offer a decent sized men's clothing area. I love that this place has $1 racks too. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! So organized and terrific prices! This is my go-to thrift store. There a sign on the door saying to leave all backpacks and large bags at the cash register Bruce there have been people who steal. It's not anything to be offended at because EVERYONE is asked to do so. Fabulous place! read more

i was showing this store to my mom when i saw the reviews on here and now i feel compelled to help set things back in the right direction. this thrift store is GREAT. i was in there yesterday and very impressed by the layout and what was for sale. the 1 star reviews on here are from insane covid obsessed busybodies who need to quit looking for things to complain about. read more

My favorite place to thrift and shop in general! They will take any donations of clothes, shoes, accessories, household items, etc. The prices are perfect and the clothes are high quality, ironed, and many are brand name. Well kept store and friendly staff. read more

I was just driving past and decided to randomly stop. I'm glad I did! I'm from Tampa so I was excited to find a vintage USF shirt for $1. I also got two nice Halloween plates for $1. My boyfriend found a pair of black Converse in his size for $6.50 and they were in good condition. I would definitely stop by this store next time I'm in Gainesville. read more

This is a solid thrift store in town that is really wonderful for clothing. My wife and sister love it, they have a huge selection of dresses especially. My wife got a dress here that she wore to my brother's wedding. I've scored many gently-used pairs of jeans and shorts here over the years as well. Keep up the good work! read more

This store is a true hidden gem in Gainesville. The reviews that are under 5 stars shouldn't even be on this yelp page. I found so many nice clothes for cheap! Crazy cheap! I would most definitely come back here read more

I have gotten some nice pieces of clothing at shockingly good prices. The clothes I've found range from casual and workout gear to office appropriate, fashionable tops, skirts & pants. It is rare to find a garment costing over $5. I get a lot of things in the $1.95 to $3.95 range (That's including brand name items). I've even made some good finds within the quarter rack. This place has been a godsend after recent weightloss and several sizes dropped. The Outreach Thrift Store has been a vital asset in rebuilding my wardrobe. Also, the staff is always very nice! read more

A+ All around excellent, 5*, community focused thrift. Save your family money by shopping here!!

I love this store and it became one of my favorite thrift stores in Gainesville. I normally shop there when I drop off my donations. 9/10 times I came out with a few things that I really liked. The price could be a bit pricey for some items. But for most of the clothes they're reasonable (from $1.50 - $2.95). It's not like you will find items to your liking all the time. That depends on their turnover selections at the time you visit. But overall it's a fun shopping experience on a cheap!! read more

Store was clean but had a little stale smell when first walked in. Found some good condition clothes for my kid & myself. I'd have no issue returning but have an issue w/ a staff mbr. An older man, made comments about where we moved from then made underlining comments about the tattoos on my mother & myself. Also had a staff mbr, a female, kept adding to items to where ever we were looking at. They lost a star due to staff mbrs. We don't steal. read more

The BEST place by far !!!! Always a great place to find amazing deals !!! I've never left disappoint, in fact I leave feeling like I just got the best deal and that is a great feeling ! read more

Since they moved the store has gone downhill for me. Toys & kids clothes were cheap, & they had a $0.25 rack, which is gone now. Not worth it anymore. Will shop ebay from now on. read more
