I have found some really nice things here. Although, the prices are a bit high for a consignment shop. You do have to be a smart, discriminating shopper since not everything here is quality, but many things are. You definitely have to sort through things carefully. Unless you are 16 years or younger do not bring clothes there on consignment. They only TAKE trendy clothes worn by teenagers, but there is stuff on the racks a 50 + year old woman such as myself would wear. Go figure? I've definitely seen ratty, old clothes that have torn seams and bleach spots hanging on the rack, but be prepared to have "20-somethings" turn their noses up and hold up your clean, laundered and pressed, gently worn clothes with disdain and say, "These styles are not the current trends that we accept for resale." (LOL) I teach high school and my students (15-16 year olds!!!) always complement me on my clothes. I will still shop at Sandy's, but will not bother bringing clothes there. As an avid thrifter I have good and bad things to say about Sandy's. One big positive: they stock quality items. So, if you're looking to buy, you're going to be able to find some decent products. However, knowing when Sandy's has sales is key- otherwise the items are overpriced. I can buy a dress at Forever 21 for $12.99 and see it used on the rack at Sandy's for 10 bucks. Thus, being in the know about sales is integral for success. Sandy's has a rewards punch card as well as a text discount service- I recommend both. As far as selling, they are going to be very picky about what they take. This said, they give a pretty fair price for items in my opinion. My biggest beef with Sandy's: the super-cute clothes on the mannequins aren't for sale. read more

Recently had over $500 jewelry stolen from my drop-off. It was neither returned to me nor put out for sale. Police were involved and Sandy's did not seem concerned about my loss. Sandy's is a local find in Gainesville. The store is very similar to Plato's. However, the differences are Sandy's pay more for your clothes, you can sell gently used household items, and better organized. Sandy's also has sales throughout the month, so you get discounts on top of discounts. I love the how the interior has rustic decor. The dressing rooms are well lighted and very spacious. Don't be fooled by the small parking lot out front, there is more parking in the back. The store is very big and has racks of used clothing, shoes, and household items. I personally like how the store is organized compared to Plato's. Sandy's organizes their shoes on shoe racks on the wall depending on size. They only put one shoe out so you can try it on. You can ask the store associate for the other shoe. They do this so people don't steal. They have a really good selection of designer handbags, sunglasses, wallets, and other accessories for reasonable prices. Behind the counter, they display their gently used designer brand items such as Prada, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, etc. Personally, I think the prices for these designer brands are too expensive. You can get some of the items cheaper (and for new) at outlets. When selling your clothes at Sandy's the concept is the same like Plato's. You drop off your clothes and other items. Then, you fill out a form. They do buy certain items depending on the season. However, if they don't buy your clothes Sandy's gives you the option of leaving them with the store. At the end of the day, they donate those items to local charities. I will say that the wait time can get annoying (can be up to 2 hours) especially if there are a lot of people selling. If you want to sell your gently used clothes or other items, go to Sandy's first. They pay more money for your items and have a better selection of items to look at. I was treated very kindly by all staff and all my questions were answered clearly but their was clear disorganization and the place was dusty and their were clothes on the floor. The new store is spacious with a great variety! Buying~ Lots to choose from and decent prices on the clothing. However, the houseware ( pictures, furniture etc..)is WAY over priced. Selling~ You can wait anywhere from 20 min- one hour while they look at your clothes etc..to buy. They can be generous at times and then sometimes, I dont understand the thought process as to why they wont buy certain clothes. I have had them tell me they are not in style anymore or they looked worn...hmmm. Its weird because I have taken shirts in that I have only worn once so I know they are not "worn." I would rather them just say we dont want to buy them! Overall, they buying experience is good. If you are a female between 15-35 and you can find some trendy clothes that wont break the bank. Sandy's consignment shop is probably one of the most unique and well staffed consignment shops in all of the United States. And believe me I've been in all of them. The prices are exceptionally reasonable and the quality and variety makes me coming back for more all the time and usually it's the bargain of the century. Please support them because I never want them to go out a Business. They represent the best of Gainesville their stuff is exquisite and they are always there help you and they are not only smart but also care about their customers. Sandy's generally has some good finds... They do not give you nearly as much as they once did for items you want to sell. When you do bring things in to sell it takes them foreverrrerrr... SCAM!! I was told it would take 2 hours to review my items ( only 2 grocery bags worth) and would receive a call when they were ready. I get a call at 6:40 pm ( FOUR HOURS LATER) that I have only 20 minutes to come pick up my items or they will be donated and was blatantly lied to that they called and left me a voicemail at 5pm ( I was next to my phone all afternoon waiting for their call to drive back and reviewed my phone, no calls, no voicemails ). ( keep in mind some of those items included atleast $250 worth of brand new high end scrubs with tags like FIGS and Januu)They refused to let me pick up my items the next day ( I live farther than 20 min away) even though they had clearly messed up. They were extremely RUDE, did not apologize or care , horrible customer service! It's a complete SCAM so they can keep everything you dropped off and sell it all mean while giving you a joke offer. I WILL NEVER use you again, I'd rather pay 20% to Poshmark than this horrible experience. Good luck read more

They know me by name there and I always feel welcome. They have relocated their store to a much larger location that is absolutely WONDERFUL. The decor and spacious interior is such a better shopping experience. From small beginnings, to a currently large and beautiful shop they have now, I am proud to say I am a Sandy's shopper. Sandy is one of the original consignment store owner's in the Gainesville area, and she and her co-owner, Tabitha are an amazing team that have grown their business with the loyalty of their customer's. Sandys is a JOKE! My wife called me upset about an item that we purchased during their recent pack the bag sale. She noticed that the ink tag was left on and the zipper was ultimately missing/broken. Instead of rectifying the MISTAKE they made, they made her feel as if she stole the item and that the item was from two years ago. Completely understandable you cant exchange or return w/o a receipt but to treat your loyal customers like a criminal IS CRIMINAL!!!! I had to call just to get the store manager to agree to take the tag off of a .80 item. I've worked in retail for years and there was always an honor code. We NEVER made customers feel some type of way especially if the mistake was made on our part. If you are sooo concerned about loss prevention then get you a LOSS PREVENTION TEAM. The clothes here are usually nice and are priced reasonably. They also have housewares. I've never seen a surprise tear or stain on anything I've gotten, which is good since you can't return anything. However, the staff is what earns this place two stars from me. The other day, I bought $100 of items - three large bags worth, including an entire dinnerware set and had my toddler with me. Not only did no one offer to help me out with the heavy bags, multiple staff members even said a flat out "No, we can't do that" when I politely asked them for help. The staff generally has a bad attitude; avoid any interaction with them and this place seems a lot nicer. Make sure you get a frequent shopper card. read more

Everything is very good quality and organized in a nice way that was easy to navigate. If you come here, I suggest giving yourself a good hour to browse and try things on, because there's such a huge selection and the sizes can be kind of tricky with consignment items because there is a wide variety of brand names and styles. read more

I've been to this store several times and am always disappointed in what I see. I was hoping to find a dress or two but what they seam to think is "in fashion" or "trendy", totally misses the mark. There was nothing trendy to be found. They either put out cheap evening wear or ridiculous teen type outfits which is fine if you are a teenager. Brought some very nice jackets still nwt and nwot , that were a nice color and stylish (trench) , plus another newish coat (3 years at most) . Told they were not the right style. Had to wait more than an hour in the store just to get that answer. I was told that if I wanted to leave and come back (to get a receipt) it would be 4-5 hours at least. I'm very distrustful if I can't get a receipt right away . How long can it take to sort through some clothes? Then I had to share personal details (drivers license, phone #, name ,email ) just to get a $14 cash payout for the one (second hand bought ,coat that they did take). Just went this week for the first time. There are good and bad things about Sandy's. First, the good. The store is clean, organized, and does not have the dingy smell that many of these places have. The ok...they have a good selection of women's apparel, though very, very few plus sized items. The men's selections were less impressive, and the items for older kids were horrible. I went here because one of the reviews said that they had tons of storage boxes. I saw NONE. We also brought about 100 items in to sell, including 5 separates that still had price tags on them, each costing around $50. They didn't buy any of that. They only wanted some used children's swimsuits from old navy. We got $19 for just a couple of pieces. Overall, this is a great place to go if you want clothes for your teenage or college daughters. If you have a purse addiction, this store is also for you. Otherwise, this is an easy pass. read more

I've never really had a pleasant time here. Selling or buying. They do have lots to look at. But not everyone is pleasant. If you try to sell things there you get told that the clothes are not the style they are looking for (eventhough it matches other things they have or are more current than what they have). They don't pay much when they do buy from you. When buying, I agree with other reviews that their things are overpriced. I purchased a cute sweater dress from there once, got it home and after wearing it I could smell the body odor from the previous owner. Not such a cute dress anymore. I was not impressed. While they have a large amount of stock I felt the staff looked down on you. I brought in 3 large bags of clothes with my teenage granddaughter most very pricey items and popular with the teenagers after going through all 3 bags what they offered me for 3 pair of "Miss me jeans" was crazy, other name brands such as Hollister, Gap and American Eagle they were not interested they said they would not sell my granddaughter couldn't believe her ears the only reason she was selling them is she grew 2 inches since March and they were to short all her friends wear these brands. However the girls said they would take them and donate them to Goodwill, which would have been okay but they had these brands in their store and I know they sell. As we were standing there taking back my granddaughters things a young girl was watching us and stopped us on our way out the door and asked what size they were and then how much We wanted. After so conversation my granddaughter sold 4 pair of hollister and gap jeans for more then they were willing to give her for 3 pairs of Miss Me jeans. The young lady really wanted the one pair of Miss me jeans but said she couldn't afford them I was that girl once so we gave her have the pair she really liked. My granddaughter said it best, the look on her face was worth more then the money and while I won't go back to Sandy's I'm glad we did the other 2 pair she sold online both girls were happy my granddaughter learned how good it felt to give back to someone less fortunate the 2 girls exchanged email addresses and became email friends and we will give to Hospice or Goodwill from here on out. One of the best consignment boutiques I've ever been in, and definitely the best in Gainesville. They usually buy half of my things, and for a decent price, unlike Plato's Closet, which offered me two dollars for my wool blend peacoat! I feel that their furniture is pretty pricey, but everything else is affordable. Very hard working and friendly staff. The store is well organized, and has a broad range of items (they even have kitchenware, baby clothes, and high-end brands). Their only flaw is their crappy and limited shoe selection, but I'll take one drawback over everything else! I visit Sandy's on a regular basis for good deals. I can't comment on the old location but I love the new location. I relocated from VA BEACH to Gainesville 2 yrs ago and I have been looking for quality thrift stores ever since. I am glad a friend introduced me to this place. Great quality selection of clothing, shoes, accessories, and home decor. They will even give you cash for the items you donate! ( I got $19 for 4 shirts) Don't get your hopes up though... they will not accept every item you turn in. They can be very picky ( hence the great clothing selections). But if you want to get a few bucks for the old Express blouse or Forever21 bracelet from a few seasons ago....this is a great place for that! I find something unique every time I visit Sandy's. Pricing is a hit and miss, there were some items I found that were a great deal and others that I found to be a bit overpriced for gentlied used stuff. I would definitely come back and gave it 5 stars because of the selection and overall quality of the items. You really need to be able to spend time browsing to find stuff - not a dash in and out kinda place, so much to look at. In addition, the attitude and friendliness of employees left alot to be desired. While I waited for my clothing to be looked at I shopped. In Sandy's defense, she did apologize and offered me to be a secret shopper in order to have me return! In Sandy's comment she provided an email, she did not reply to my email. Bad service from Sandy's Savvy Chic Resale Boutique. New to the area, as we were entering I saw a shirt on the mannequin, tried it on, looked at price tag - went to pay and during the transaction I informed them they needed a new shirt on the mannequin... you would have thought I stole something. I was then denied the shirt, told they don't sell items on mannequins despite their price tag! It would be nice to know the reason, which couldn't be provided. Aren't they a "resale store!?" My review is about more than the actual shopping experience. I began working at this establishment about 6 months ago, started with about 35 hrs a week and am now down to 0 scheduled hours. I am a "call in", this means I am scheduled to call in and see if they need me. I do not get paid for this scheduled "call in" therefore I can make no plans. Sandy's had 40 employees when I started, however there are more than that now and she is still hiring. She does this so she does not have to give breaks or lunch. With all of these employees you would think that there would be better customer service, but most employees that are there the most just stand around and talk. The customer gets ignored. When bringing in your items to be purchased, chances are your best stuff will be sent home with you. I believe in customer service, and I just don't see it. If you are looking for a great shopping experience avoid Sandy's, if you are looking for a decent part time job avoid Sandy's. She cares nothing for the people that work for her unless they are her closet friend. By the way there is only one of them, and everyone else has to do her job, because she doesn't know how. The people that do her job, get no recognition or respect. Sandy has become very wealthy on other peoples stuff, and hard work. Don't let that be you.
