Sugarplum Zoo - Festive decorations

Sugarplum Zoo

Yes--as other reviews have stated, the cost may seem like a lot of the visit. If you love animals…read morethough or you want your kids to remember an experience, I would recommend the place. I enjoyed petting them and feeding the animals and being able to spend that time with the animals unlike in a crowded carnival style place that has a petting zoo. The staff who greeted us at the front were super sweet and friendly and playful too which makes the place feel just like another alternate world full of good, happy people. They have a little shop full of chocolates and when you enter, a staff member offers you a sample. She asked what we would like to try while kids received a milk chocolate with sprinkles on it. Because they're probably made with a lot of love and labor, the chocolates aren't cheap but not ridiculously overpriced either. I'm for sure the type though who would have spent a lot more on the chocolates if the tickets were cheaper but that's just me. I'm sure the ticket sales are better. A lot of people do walk out with purchasing any chocolate when I was there. I had fun looking at all of them though and deciding what I wanted. I will be back again when my children are a little older and it's a good excuse to stop by a winery while you're in the area.

Mine was living her best life the entire time. Meanwhile, I was just trying to keep up and not get outsmarted by a goat Pro tips: the gelato is SO good (like, treat yourself good ) and definitely do *not* wear your nice shoes... unless you're okay with them becoming part of the farm experience 10/10 for laughs, memories, and a little bit of dirt

It makes sense because you think they'll just let anyone in and pick blueberries for free? You know people will be eating some too. We went with our toddler and we got a medium and a small. Which are these Chinese take out containers. The field is huge and hot! No shade. So bring a hat. No water over 20oz allowed. They also have a rule where you can't "sample" any berries you pick, which I think is kind of crazy, especially that younger kids will just eat some berries while picking. My 1 year certainly ate a few but got bored real quick and just liked running around in an open field. My husband had to chase him around, while I picked the rest of the berries. My son also picked the worst berries, all mushy/overripe ones and green ones... he'll learn and be a better picker next year. lol. Yes, it's expensive for blueberries, especially for the amount and price. But it's the experience and a fun family event. We'll be coming back every year! Come early bc it gets HOT! They have some farm animals, picture spots and tractors to entertain the kids. It's seasonal too.

Everyone needs to purchase a bucket for picking so that is your entrance fee, I wish I would have bought the bigger bucket bc the berries were simply delicious and sweet. I definetely will come back when I'm in town. We also got the blueberry pound cake at the store, very soft and lightly sweeten so must get. They have little goats that you could feed, fun for the kids.

Our tour guide, Julie was great at going over the do's and don't of being around them. Also, she shared beautiful stories of how this all started and information about Alpacas. They were all so cute and well behaved (didn't get spit on) haha. I apologize that I can not recall the name of the great woman who showed us how their coats are handled. I think I was so intrigued with what she was sharing that I didn't catch her name. With that said, it actually was my favorite part! If in the area, I would recommend booking this! Great for all ages :)

Started with a short presentation about the facility and alpacas, then on to the visits. We had a blast getting to feed them and petting them occasionally. Apparently they aren't real fond of it, but you can get a head rub in while they eat. They have such great personalities and are fun to be around. We also got to spend some time getting a lesson on the process of spinning alpacas fur from Nancy. Such a great job showing us how it is done. They also have a small gift shop you can visit after for some really cool alpaca products, post cards, and such. This was an unbelievable experience that I would highly recommend. We are already planning to go back with other family members. Please, give this place a visit!!!

Traveling Tidepools - My daughters really enjoyed this at their school (May 23-24, 2022)

They came to our school! It was so cool! We've been to many aquariums in California, & Monterey Bay Aquarium is our absolute favorite because the sea otters are just incredible! We've also been to Sea World, Santa Cruz Aquarium, Long Beach Aquarium, and many others. This tide pool experience was unique because each child had an opportunity to touch each sea creature. My son absolutely loved it so much! The kids got to touch sand sharks, sea stars, mini manna rays and so many other amazing creatures. They even saw octopus-looking sea stars, and more. Unlike big parks like Seaworld, where you don't always get to touch every creature because of the crowds, and sometimes the sea creatures swim away, this tidepool experience was perfect. I definitely recommend them for bday party or school field trip experience!

Although this even was solely during school hours, so parents were naturally not invited, I have to put the word out there about how much my kiddos really enjoyed their visit with this traveling aquarium. With PTA volunteers and the oversight of each class's teacher, each classroom was able to participate in touching and even holding some of the sea creatures. Sure, my kids have been to several aquariums over the years, but never in a formal learning setting. My oldest said Captain Bobby went around with several live creatures with a towel and gave fun facts about each one of them. Both girls came home with their own individual raving reviews. They both have cited this as being on of their favorite activities that they participated in all school year long.
