Plenty of free parking available right infront of the sanctuary. There is a cute little shop attached to the sanctuary, where you can buy their handmade truffle chocolates which are so delicious (coming from someone who isn't a fan of truffle chocolates), fresh farm eggs, honey, and other delicacies. With your zoo "ticket" you get 2 free samples of their chocolates and a hefty bag of feed for the animals. The animals are mostly in their own pens, with some together. There's even a couple of the pigs you'll find out of pens, just hanging out on the property, laying beside the building. You're able to go into the tortoise pen and feed/pet him as well, 2 people at a time inside the pen, as he does get anxious. You're not able to feed all of the animals, but for the most part you can. Each pen has a sign for which animals are ok to feed/pet and which are not. They are very calm and friendly, as long as you are too. They take the feed very gently and don't bite your fingers. On the weekends they offer pizza made fresh for the visitors, and have plenty of covered outdoor seating options to enjoy. They also offer wine tasting, but we did not partake, as we had just left a winery, but I'm sure it is quite enjoyable as well. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and it's a 5 minute drive from the wineries!

I moved my stroller near the gate where the ground was smoother while waiting for my friends to buy buckets for us. One staff member came up to me and immediately told me I couldn't go in without a bucket. I politely explained that I was not entering yet, just waiting because the rocky path was very hard for my stroller, and my friends were buying the buckets for me. Instead of explaining the rules kindly, she spoke to us with attitude and embarrassed us in front of everyone. The whole line was looking at us, and it felt very uncomfortable. She was impatient and rude instead of simply explaining the rules nicely to first-time visitors. We didn't know that each person needed their own bucket, and we also didn't know group picking was not allowed. That could have been explained respectfully. Customer service is not just about enforcing rules -- it's also about treating customers with kindness and patience. What disappointed me the most was how her attitude suddenly changed after I told my friend she was not friendly at all. Then she started smiling and acting nicer to the next guests. First-time customers who don't know the rules deserve clear explanations, not embarrassment and attitude.

I also love though how Peltzer has kept some of the favorites around since 2002 like our favorites: the pig races, gem panning, pony rides, the petting farm (especially the turkey) and the "how tall" sign. Violet who is serving the cotton candy is super sweet girl too!! Of course and a little mom break over at the sangria silo . Overall I think there is a lot to do and one day is probably not enough time, so plan for a couple of visits. Started with a short presentation about the facility and alpacas, then on to the visits. We had a blast getting to feed them and petting them occasionally. Apparently they aren't real fond of it, but you can get a head rub in while they eat. They have such great personalities and are fun to be around. We also got to spend some time getting a lesson on the process of spinning alpacas fur from Nancy. Such a great job showing us how it is done. They also have a small gift shop you can visit after for some really cool alpaca products, post cards, and such. This was an unbelievable experience that I would highly recommend. I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. I swear she knew I needed a little extra TLC! It made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free. I even got to do a tiny bit of trotting, which was such a fun bonus. It was actually a lot more calm and peaceful than I thought it would be! Even my friend, who's afraid of heights, did it! Sure, she was pretty scared at first and stayed close to the center of the basket, avoiding to look out and down, but she started feeling more comfortable the longer we were in the sky. We booked on their website and used the promo code "Groupon" for a discounted price of about $180 per person. The meeting point was in the parking lot of a shopping center in Temecula at 5:30am. There, they went over some rules, info about hot air ballooning and there was a photographer/videographer, Wesly Cajuste, selling packages for stills and a video. He has a drone that follows the balloon. My friends and I decided to go for it since it was our first time and it was a special occasion (friend's birthday). We were very happy with the way the video and the photos came out. Then, a couple shuttle vans took us to where they were setting up the hot air balloons, which varies depending on the wind. Before getting in the basket, we got to go in the balloon while they were inflating it. It was chilly in the morning, but it gets pretty warm being under the propane tank, so hats and layers are suggested. We were 4 groups of 4 and were assigned to a huge balloon with 4 separate compartments we were snug in. The knowledgeable and experienced pilot, Brian, was in the middle. I read that the baskets have doors but we had to climb in ours. The ride was about an hour long and we had a spectacular view of Temecula valley. I was a little nervous about the landing, but Brian is clearly a pro and did a magnificent job with a smooth landing on an open field. No mimosas in the air since there are no restrooms, but they busted out the Crooks when we got out! The website said breakfast, but they actually just give out ziplocked bags of snacks. Lol! Totally not necessary. The balloon ride was the ultimate highlight! They also give a certificate, which includes a list of wineries you can get discounts at for having done the hot air experience.
