I've been going to Cedar Point for 30 years, never would I have considered staying at a KOA in all the years. We probably could've stayed in the cabins and still pay way less than any hotels around town. I could not believe how close this was to CP. We literally turn out of the KOA and was at the light where the giant sign is in less than 60 seconds. The grounds were clean and our spot was very centrally located and it has a paved patio, a gliding bench, built it fire-pit, table with chairs and umbrella. We were easily able to come back to the campsite in the middle of our trip to eat lunch then go back instead of paying $20 for hot dog and fries, which was another big plus. I was also super impressed with the amenities. It has a pickleball court, which I've never seen before but definitely worth noting. Because it's one of their Halloween weekends, they had trick or treating, a mini carnival games thing that sells food and include games like tire toss where you're tossing heads into the tires, etc. At night, after it got dark, they literally set up a haunted house, which apparently was pretty awesome. I stayed back to watch the dogs, but I could definitely hear screams and clowns banging on some metal barrels and made it pretty legit. Being October, their 2 pools were obviously done, but there were 2 pools! We're definitely staying there again when we go back. read more

With being KOA workers we know what the standards are for a KOA cabin. Without doubt they delivered!! First thing I checked was the grill and it was clean. The cabin was spotless and all the linens were there. We had a great stay and the office staff was friendly every time we went in there. I took off 1 star because of the pool. They said it was heated but it was cold. I asked what they heat it to and they said 72 degrees. That's 5 degrees below the recommend swimming pool temps. We were a bit worried after reading a lot of the reviews, but once we arrived, we knew we would love it. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were kept clean. Yes, there is a train, but it did not bother us at all. Neighbors were respectful, and friendly enough. Definitely will come back again. read more

We stayed in R cabins (trailer). They are a little dated and dusty but, we're camping right? The staff are 110% awesome. The kids had fun trick or treating. We participated in passing out as well. There was at least 40 sites participating and we were told because they were booked max to expect 50 kids. I did not experience any of the bugs everyone is talking about and they warn about them AND the train. The price? Everywhere is expensive. Just go with what fits your style and look at the credit card bill later. Camping USED to be the cheaper option until it became a thing after 2020. Supply and demand. This camp ground stands up to the KOA Holiday standards. PLENTY for kids to do here and AROUND here. read more

This place is filthy. Our cabin had not been cleaned, inside or the outside sitting area. The front steps are not secure to the building. Plan on bringing your own towels-bath, washcloth, kitchen. And a fan-the air conditioner barely works or freezes up. They did state the trains going by are loud-be prepared. Very loud & very frequently! The laundry room was a total mess-overflowing trash, dirty floors, & beer on the folding table. There are no mirrors in the bedrooms, hooks or in the bathroom, & no backup supplies (like one extra paper towel, toilet paper, or no tissue) You have to go to the front desk to get another. You have to stay 48 hours to exchange the sandpaper towels. It's a campground. Enjoy the pool, unless it gets used as a bathroom & closed, like it did during our stay. Not their issue but that did happen. Just very disappointed for the little space, inaccurate supplies, & cleanliness. For the high price, find a different location. read more

Really expensive for what it is. Was 96$ for the night and was told that was the cheapest price. Pretty frustrating when they have a whole section of the campground completely empty. When hotels are similar pricing, it just feels like a money grab. The site was clean and neat. Bathrooms were fine. Pools looked nice but we didn't swim. The trains all night were loud and was another reason I don't agree with the price. read more

This KOA is right by extremely busy and noisey train tracks. ALL NIGHT there are trains every half hour or so. They blow their horns at every road crossing. No bueno. The bugs (from standing swamps) are terrible an unrelenting. That being said, Its a good campground designed for kids. LOTS of kids. read more

The staff were very friendly and helpful while checking in and throughout our stay. The sites were nice and ours was right on the water.

Great customer service! We love that they are dog friendly and have 2 dog parks and a walking trail for our furbabies. The entire campground is very clean. They also have an adults only swimming. Very close to Cedar point and Cedar Point sports center. Close to many stores and restaurants as well. We will be staying here again on our next Cedar Point visit. read more

Hands down the best place to stay! I ran into a little issue with my cabin and Nathan was more than accommodating! He was friendly and apologetic and made sure to correct the issue promptly. Once I got situated, I hid my wallet (I'm weird) and went to cedar point with the kids. Stayed for 2 days and left without my wallet. I knew that I wouldn't be getting it back, but I still called and left a voicemail. Being that it's off season, the office was closed until Thursday. Wednesday, Jennifer called me and told me that she found my wallet exactly where I left it! Not only did they ship it back to me OVERNIGHT, all of my cash was still inside! Integrity isn't a quality many possess these days and Jennifer could have very easily said she didn't find it and it would have been her word against mine. Jennifer and Nathan are the kind of employees that keep a business afloat and I hope they're truly valued and appreciated, because they're a needle in a haystack! My sister and I stayed at a handful of Sandusky campgrounds this summer and we have decided that the search ends with KOA Sandusky! Thank you guys soooo much! See you next summer! read more

A great campground that is well loved. The grounds back up to the Sandusky Bay with seagulls over head. It's a big campground with multiple cabins, Rvs and even tent sites. We opted for a deluxe patio with full hook ups, cable, wrought iron table and chairs, fire pit and concrete patio. There are 2 pools although my son says they are heavily chlorinated. He's a life guard, so he's pretty aware. There were lots of kids running around and playing. There is a seasonal section of the campground for long term renters which probably contributes to it being a busy place. We were happy to see the grass being cut, regular trash pick up, on site security and a welcoming front desk crew. Thanks for a great stay! read more

It is worth the money to get the deluxe. Plenty of space for a fifth wheel and two trucks plus jet skis. Swimming pools in excellent condition! Bath houses clean. Would highly recommend this place! Plus it is so close to Cedar Point read more

We were camping in our tent- so our experience is based on that. We stayed 2 nights to go to Cedarpoint with the family . The showers and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Our campsite was clean on arrival too. It was a very active campground ! Good mix of seasonal and regular campers . Even though it was a lot of people, everyone respected the quiet hours. If you are going to be with nature - this isn't the place for you. However it's so close to cedar point and was perfect for our family. There are trains that run nearby - they didn't really bother us at all . We weren't there that long but they have so much to do! We didn't even get a chance to explore the whole campground and activities that they offer!! We wish we could have stayed a week! read more

We decided to stay at a cabin for a trip to Cedar Point and choose a 6 person at KOA. I have to say, first the 6 person is very small so it will not handle six adults unlesss you are very friendly. But, the big issue was we had bites all over us after sleeping here. I told the staff and they offered to send cleaners up. But I suggested that they have someone who deals with insects or bugs. I don't know what type of bug it was but it is a week later and we are still dealing with it. We left and found a motel without any additional guests. You aslo want to know that there is a train near by that you hear all throughout the night, it is loud. The grounds themselves are very nice, kids liked the big pillow to jump on and also the gem mine. read more

The bathrooms are very dirty. They do not do regular cleaning and even when they do clean, they are not thorough. Water pressure in showers not good, walls of the shower dirty. Quiet hours are not enforced. People were playing loud music well past midnight. Our cabin had headphones left in them from the last guest. This tells me our room was not cleaned. Our cabin was cute and had a tv and ac. If they can get the cleaning issues fixed - it will be a nice place to stay. read more

Pretty cool place. Got here around 8ish on a Friday evening for an early Saturday morning Cedar Point trip, so didn't get to check out a lot of the amenities. Stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe cabin which was very clean. We packed sleeping bags, but learned they weren't needed because each bed was provided fresh clean linens. For the price of a deluxe cabin which includes a kitchen and full bath, I highly recommend this place over your standard hotel room. The trains are kind of loud, but didn't stop me from getting sleep at all. read more

There were trains constantly and bright lights shining into our cabin at night. The cabin was more like a mobile home than the nice KOA cabins we are used to. The sites were tiny and it was definitely overcrowded and loud. We had to leave before the night was over as we found bedbugs. They did refund the money for our stay because of the bedbugs. read more

This is the second year we have stayed at this KOA. The first year we had a small cabin north of the check-in office and we had a good experience and returned. I am pretty easy to please. I have expectations that this is a campground and it's not a fancy hotel. With that in mind, my only complaint this time is that we rented the 3 bedroom model and the "master" reeked. My in-laws were in a cabin next to us, and my husband's aunt went to purchase febreeze because her room also reeked. It smelled like sweat and B.O. which, I expect people get pretty sweaty when camping but it would be nice if it didn't stink for the next guest. Luckily, we had decent weather and I left our window open all night and aired it out a little. That either helped, or I just got used to it. Of course, there are train tracks nearby so with my window open, I was awakened by 3 extremely loud trains that sounded like the apocalypse. Talk about a rude awakening!!! I was a little disappointed that we had a fire pit, but no grate to put food on. You could tell previous guests felt the same way because the lid to the fire pit had been smashed and flattened and looked as though some decided to just use it as a grill. I hope they used foil! My in-laws used their stove-top for breakfast so that was good, but who doesn't grill-out when camping. This is a small thing they could fix that would go a long way with guests. *friendly tip* pack your own sheets unless you literally have no regard for what you sleep on. The sheets we received were perfectly clean, no stains, no odor (except a faint smell of bleach which I appreciate in commercial linens) but they are pretty thin, cheap, hospital or less quality sheets. I used mine to cover the plastic mattress before putting my own sheets on top. At least they provided another layer between me and the plastic. My final complaint is that the pool was cloudy and green. We just avoided it altogether as we were here for Cedar Point and Soak City. *note* we made no complaints to staff about smell or pool so I will say they weren't given any chance to rectify, although these are things I don't feel I should have to ask to be fixed, they should just be that way already. That's why they got dinged one star. With all of that in mind, know that will would undoubtedly return. Even if we only had our two small children with us, and no other guests, we would probably still consider the larger cabin (3bdrm) over the small one from last year. While the small one was fine, provided everything we "need", this was much more comfortable and we had a living space and room to put bags and coolers inside and still walk around. There was a TV and a futon in the living space and while we didn't *need* that, the space itself was greatly appreciated and as the kids grow (5&6 now) having their own space provided a little sanity for us. read more

Because of Cedar Point, this place is loaded with screaming kids well into the night. My last night at the campground, kids were playing / bouncing a basketball on the road at 1:30AM. Very little, if any supervision. Then there was a motorhome that installed dual huge speakers on tripods and started blaring their music. There was a lot of dog feces on our campsite. I noticed many dogs unleashed. Basically, rules are not being enforced. The staff are not exactly friendly. The place is very run down. This was my first visit and it will be my last visit... BTW: Forget about WiFi - Completely non-existent... read more

There was construction going on when we were there, so it was really loud and everything was torn up. The AC in our cabin wasn't sufficient for the heat and we had to go to Walmart to buy a fan. The laundry facility was tiny for the size of the campground. Our cabin was clean. The service was acceptable, but not above and beyond by any stretch. We definitely wouldn't stay there again. I'm giving it two stars to be generous--basically only because of its close proximity to Cedar Point Amusement Park. read more

If you're looking for a relaxing camping experience, this is not the place. Sites are extremely tight. We tried relaxing by our designated fire ring, which is 3 feet from neighbors sewer connection and they decided to dump their sewer. Kids have no quiet hours, and campground is chaos in the evenings. There are active train tracks bordering campground as well, with passing trains regularly. Not a very good experience. This is our second visit here and we will not return. We gave benefit of doubt after first try but will not be returning. read more

We stayed here at the end of August and used this as our place while going to cedar point. The sites for a travel trailer are very small. The shower facilities were poor. Hot water was rare and water pressure was nil. For the price and a Koa I expected much better. read more

Had our 40ft RV here a few times this year, and even had the cabins a few times. Never had any trouble, and the price was always fair, especially since we have plat passes to cedar point and its right down the street! I bought the discount card, and so far its paid for itself over and over. Nice and clean. Not very good lake access though like you would want. read more

We booked a pull thru site and were given a back in. Campground refused to make good on the difference. To top it off there is strong sulfur smell coming from nearby business that permeates the facility. Trains run by park all night long. Book at your own risk. read more

Wonderful people! We arrived on 7/11/16 for two nights... Unfortunately we had to cut that down to one night due to time constraints. Very considerate front desk folks refunded us the second night without issue. Facilities were clean and secure. Working on adding a second pool, doubtful that it will be ready for this season though... Sites are a bit tight for big rigs but manageable. read more

Been camping to dozens of places around the Midwest. And several KOA campgrounds among those. This one has everything that you expect. It's just that the place is kind of run down, like Sandusky itself. When we checked in the staff was not super warm and inviting. Instead of giving me a bunch of information I might want I had to ask questions to get that. Things like what are the pool hours, the Wi-Fi password, and if they deliver firewood. Into the issue of firewood this is the most expensive firewood I have ever purchased anywhere! $6.50 for a bundle and no break for buying multiple bundles. Absolutely incredible! I will say that the firewood burned extremely well. I hate wet firewood and this stuff was super dry. That being said your $6.50 doesn't last very long. Wifi is poor. Very very tight campsites too. So overall you could tell with their priority is here, getting as much money out of the situation is they can. I expect more from KOA read more

We had an opportunity to stay at the KOA on a recent trip to Cedar Point. We were lucky enough to rent one of the cabins. The facility was very clean. However, when they said all we needed to do was bring towels, we were mislead. You really need to pack all your camping gear, sans tent to truly be comfortable. Yes, there is a stove, but, you really cannot use it. The space is small and with only one burner running, it heated the entire cabin up. There was not a grate for the fire, so we could not really cook in the campfire. There were sheets and a blanket provided for each of the three beds, but not the futon. There are dishes and silverware, but only a few pieces. We did have a problem with the air conditioning system while we were there and by the time my friend had walked to the office and back to report the problem, the service man was there fixing the problem. He apologized profusely for the air not working and had it fixed within a half hour. There is also a train track near by. Throughout the day, and especially at night, we were able to hear the horn blast. We would stay here again. read more

We were worried before we even checked in. We noticed the trailer park and the shady apartments adjacent to the campground. Bars on the windows didn't exactly make us feel safe. We walked into our park model and realized we should have packed cleaning supplies. Trying to make the best of it we sent the sits to the jumping pillow only to have them return after other kids threw clumps of dirt at them. To top it all off, we were jolted awake by trains throughout the night. If you want to relive the days of waking up every hour with your newborn, stay here. If you want to sleep, I recommend staying elsewhere. read more

Been camping for over 10 years and I have never been so disappointed. This was the worst camping experience ever, loud trains, next to a busy road, next to a car dealership, connected to a trailer park, Volleyball net down, unpleasant staff, office smallest ever and looks run down. This campground was just a complete dump and I'm done with KOA. The seasonal people were the worst I have ever seen, they think they rule the place and we felt pestered by them constantly. We actually had security called to our site twice!!! We are a family with two young daughters and were just minding our own business. One older lady in the seasonal lots called security on us and said my daughter and I stared at her as we drove by in the golf cart, she said she felt threatened by us... are you serious!!!.. I don't even know who she is or what she looks like. The "one" nice security guy that came said he didn't know what her problem was and he felt sympathetic for us, we shook hands and he left. We have never been called on by security,,, ever! As we were packing up to leave there was an older guy hanging out with his dog I believe he was a seasonal and asked me if we were leaving today, I said yes he then left with his dog... It felt like we were being watched and checked on and it was very uncomfortable. I felt bad that it ruined our trip and my kids had to experience this. We will never ever come back to this hole again. read more
