I've been coming to this camp grounds multiple times for the past 8 years. Usually we love them and NEVER have any problems. Today we called to cancel a reservation 12 days in advance and they charged me a cancellation fee as if life don't happen. I asked why wasn't this told to me when I booked. Mike, responded it was in the waiver that you signed. I signed it AFTER payment. I spoke to the manager Mike and he told me it's not his responsibility to tell me the cancellation policy it's my job to ask and he hung up after I informed him I'd dispute it with my bank. Once my husband called he offered me a credit. I will NEVER return after the manner in which MIKE spoke to me. You lost a lifetime customer. read more

Decent place to stay, but it isn't aging well... Non of the sites are paved- it's all grass. If it has been raining, it'll be a real mess. Lots of shade from the trees, but the trees are old and are dropping a lot of branches. One big one landed not too far from our RV- Had it been a 'hit' there would have been damage. Wi-Fi is technically available, but doesn't work most of the time. Playground is OK. Pools- They show two beautiful pools on website- but one of them was green and filled with muck. Roads around campground are a mix of paved and gravel, not too well kept. And, It's a little loud. We probably wont be back... read more

Don't take your pet here! We spent last weekend at Camp Sandusky so we could be near the park and still camp as well. We paid $473 for 2 pet friendly cabins with air. It was like we were pushed to the trash heap, literally. A HUGE pile of leaves, a ton of discarded 5 gallon pails of pool chemical, 2 full sized refrigerators on their back with doors hanging open, and a pile of what looked like old wood from picnic tables. I don't mind paying an upgrade for our pup, but we should get something for that, not just be penalized for having a pet. A pet friendly fenced area perhaps, or even a bit of space to play. I requested our complaint be escalated to someone who can address it but have not heard from anyone. If they don't want pets, just say so. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. My sister stayed here one night on 8-18-18 and upon returning home had multiple bed bug bites. The bites were all over her legs, arms, and hands. Just goes to show what an unclearly camp ground this is. Incredibly disgusting. read more

Not sure why they have so many bad reviews, we had a great stay here. Purchased a Groupon deal for a cabin for $25. The cabin was perfectly comfortable with a queen mattress and two bunks. Was the mattress the most comfortable thing ever? No. Did we expect it would be? No! The ground are very well kept, the pancake breakfast was AWESOME, (they even made us bear cakes), hot water in the shower, wifi, pool, store. Not sure what else you need? My only gripe was the close proximity to the busy-all-night highway. Other than that our stay was very nice and we will be back! read more

This place looked good until the next morning when there was a bed bug on my sheet owner was rude about it I had to call there three different times for him to get back with me he said they don't give refunds and there is no bugs in his cabins also said he had an exterminator come look and they didn't see any and he had to pay him $50 just to come out them paid him another $150 to spray . Bottom line don't go here terrible place would not recommend this to anyone needs shut down immediately read more

Such a beautiful piece of property that is neglected and quickly deteriorating . There is garbage , broken equipment, spare parts and furniture laying in piles throughout the campground . Buckets of trees never planted and dying . Bathrooms with broken hand dryers. Empty plastic jugs laying everywhere. Permanent site mobile home / park models with overgrown weeds and junk surrounding them . The store looks like a catch all with few products to sell , dirty windows, piles of mail and boxes cluttering the counters . They advertise 2 pools , but fail to share that the second pool is broke and wide open, empty and covered in green mildew-moss. There are no attempts being made to make the campground looks presentable . The staff rides around on golf carts driving over the litter, passing the mossy pool pit instead of cleaning it , ignoring the clutter that could be organized in sheds. A clean pool pit would look less disgusting. Paint the pool patio sets . Take down the broken umbrellas . Fixed the hand dryers! Wash windows. Put old stacks of papers in file cabinets . Pay for larger dumpsters to control the garbage . Use bleach to clean your kiosks . A clean and tidy campground is what people would like to come back to each season . read more

What a great overnight! I took of group of students to Camp Sandusky for our end of the summer program. We got 5 cabins. The only reason this review is not a 5 is due to the size of the cabins, they were extremely small for the price; other than size every thing was great. The weather this particular overnight was rainy for most of the day. The times that the rain was out of view there was plenty to do. There are two pools. A kiddie pool quick allows youth to frolic freely in safely and another pool where adults and older teens can enjoy the water without risk to the little ones. There are paddle bikes available for rent, a basketball court as well as plenty of grill tops and each cabin has its own fire pits. While we were not there for Cedar Point, the location of the camp makes it easy access to the park. Another awesome perk is the fact that there are stores and restaurant within 1-3 miles of camp. If you don't want to cook and eat outside you don't have to. Lastly for $4.50 there is an all you can eat pancake breakfast. It is nothing fancy.. You start with two pancakes, which you can refill, you get a sausage and a drink of your choice. Camp Sandusky welcomed our group with open arms and a great overnight was had by all. read more

I am surprised by the bad reviews here, I really don't what people were expecting. I wouldn't call Camp Sandusky great by any means, but it's not bad if you know what you're getting. Take a look at the pictures. If that offends you, don't stay here. Our cabin had a few slightly large bugs and it was unnerving. If I had known that they don't spray the cabins (or at least in the off-season) I would have brought my own and then left for a few hours to let it air out. The beds weren't bad, once again, I have no idea why people were expecting a plush bed at a place that says "bring your own linens." The fireplace was nice and it was nice having a wall plug for my cell phone. The area seemed pretty nice, they have nice recreational facilities for kids a few things adults might like doing to. I have two main complaints. One - It is right by the highway. Why they couldn't have put it on the other side of the corn field I don't know. But if you're a sensitive sleeper bring earplugs. Two - as others have mentioned, they don't enforce their curfew well. I had people nearby my cabin partying with a group of 20 or so until 1:30am. Was annoying. All in all, not a bad place to stay and I was happy for the price ($27 groupon). read more

What this campground is, is a great spot if you need a quick overnight and cheap place to stay if you're going to Cedar Point or Bass islands. Spaces are tight and crowded, noisy , kids running everywhere. The sites are so small the kids had to play games in the streets. One way streets and speed limits that no one obeys. Quiet time is 11pm. That's a joke, people coming in at midnight trying to setup tents in the dark with headlights or flashlights for an hour all huffy and mad and swearing out loud because the tent won't cooperate. If you're looking for a place to relax outside( you know,"camping") this is not the place. read more

We booked late and I wasn't expecting much here to begin with based on reviews but....oh, what a t.e.r.r.i.b.l.e campground! Would've left immediately had I thought they would've been willing to refund our money. Campground "could" be a nice place, it's small but cabins that surround entire campground have a "sketchy" clientele to say the least. Pool is gross; water looks grey, campstore, well... ewwww....wouldn't consider this a place to let small kids out of your site if you have them. Definately not good for families. We locked our doors, spent most of our time away from campground or inside. Looks like some people use groupon but our price was the same as what we pay for nicer campgrounds. Even if we'd gotten a better price, not worth it. This place is the pits. Many improvements needed here. Hope this helps someone. read more

We are camping in a big rig 5th wheel and are in our 60's, no kids. This is definitely a place for kids, fills up with tents on the weekends, and no specific sites for tents. Sites are OK, but roads are extremely narrow. We are in a pull through at $50/night with full hook ups but no cable. Water pressure was low before the weekend and a lot worse when the place filled up. Should've read the reviews before we got here. If you are a young family, you might love this place, otherwise, not so much. read more

Campsite was ok. The camp had a pool and a store which were nice! Quiet hours clearly are not enforced. Bathrooms and showers are sub par and poorly maintained compared to most other campgrounds. This place is awesome!! It's all the fun of camping without dragging out your tent or pulling a camper. You get your own cabin for 4, a patio, a picnic table, a fire ring, and a grill!! The camp store is stocked with everything you need, including the makings for s'mores!! Then, the next morning treat yourself to a pancake breakfast, with fast and friendly service! We read before on yelp, that there was bed bugs 11 months ago so, we were are ready skeptical. We checked the beds immediately and found a bed bug. We immediately left and they gave us a refund. The receptionist made it sound like it happened a lot. I do not recommended unless you want some unwanted travelers with yeah. One upside is they had a bunny farm. read more

My husband and I stayed in the air conditioned, pet friendly cabin with our dog the last weekend of June. Overall, the property was neat, the other guests were respectful, the staff was nice, the location was close to the theme park, and the cabin and amenities were adequate for the price.  The cabin had wooden beds (a bunk bed and a queen bed), a wooden bench, an air conditioning unit, a small refrigerator, and a fire pit and picnic table outside. We also used the BBQ unit that we shared with the cabin next to us. We did not have bug or spider problems like some of the other reviews mentioned, nor did we hear traffic sounds despite the proximity of the  freeway. I was worried that other guests would keep us up, but everyone quieted down when the sun set. Our dog plays with guinea pigs, so we let him say hello to the bunnies from outside their pen. He loved that. We didn't try the pancake breakfast. We did bring our own coffee maker and snacks. I would recommend bringing flip flops for the shower. I was happy with our stay and we may go back and stay at Camp Sandusky again on our next trip to Cedar Point. read more

My friend and I stayed here for a night in their cabins after a long day at cedar point. It was a Sunday night so nobody was there except us and like 5 people. They put us in a cabin way in the back of the park which was annoying since it was so empty and the bathrooms were so far away. The cabins are no frills, mattresses wrapped in plastic and very hard. The lock on our cabin was broken so we jammed our furniture against the door when we went to sleep just to be safe. This place is located between a busy highway and a large industrial park/field so it was kind of creepy when no one else was there. The noise of the high way could be a problem too if you were in the cabins that backed up to it. The next morning we had a free pancake breakfast which was good. The bathrooms were clean and the pools were refreshing. It's the perfect cheap place to stay while visiting cedar point. read more

I came in August of 2016 with 3 of my nephews and we had a great time. It's rustic to me but my nephews like to go camping so it was luxury to them. We felt this was a great compromise. Camping with amenities. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We really enjoyed this experience and will be coming back. read more

This place is nice if you have a tent or an RV. The sites are good sizes, lots of trees, oh...and that wonderful loud sound of the highway fifty feet away. DO NOT rent a "cabin" here. They are HORRIBLE. It is literally plywood slapped up around some framing. No insulation. The matresses are rock hard...cement may actually have more give. Showers are ok... I've seen better at campgrounds. The only nice thing is it's close to everything and there is a Mcdonalds and a Subway across the street. But we will not be coming back unless we have an RV or ther weather is warmer and we can stay in a tent. read more

No running water at the campsites in our row this weekend and they failed to mention this. When you have a camper with a sink and bathroom, no water is a major problem. They also failed to mention that it was bike week when we reserved our spot. We would have chosen a different week. It's also VERY close to a major road, so there's a lot of noise from the traffic. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay in early August. Very conveniently located to Cedar Point! My only negative was that I did not feel that the bunny rabbits on site, who were very sweet, were not taken care of. We were there during a hot few days and every time we stopped by the poor things were so thirsty. I kept filling their water. read more

My family and I won't be coming back to this camp site. It's very small, people kept walking through our yard. Couldn't put a tent up next to our RV for our children. Showers had no room to put our clothes unless we hung then up next to the shower faucet which then got wet when we showered. The soap dispenser was way down on the end of the sinks. We couldn't plug more then one thing in cuz everything kept shutting off on us. Horrible place. We will be going some place else next time. read more

I would give a 0 for this campground if I could! We made a reservation months ago for a 40 foot motor home with hookups for WES for $105 per night (ridiculous pricing). The site they assigned us was clearly under construction, didn't have any paving or stones to support the levelers, and had huge mounds of dirt on the side and back (preventing us from even being capable of pulling in to hook up). Even if we could have fit, there would have been no outdoor space and if it rained, it may have caused mechanical failure to the levelers We tried to talk to staff about the problem but it was clear that they had no customer service skills and didn't enjoy working there. Staff advised us to go to the office and get our money back and when we asked for a manager, s/he refused to come out and speak with us. Despite other open sites, they weren't willing to work with us or offer any other solutions. We were screwed over after driving 8+ hours with no camp site on a holiday weekend. read more

Friendly staff who even provided a helpful map with directions to major attractions and even the local Walmart (we always forget something when camping). Our campsite was literally 100 yards from a major highway. It's not pleasant to wake up to semis at 6:30 in the morning. Totally ruined the camping experience. If you go, be sure to ask for a site as far away from the highway as you can get. read more

We stayed 4 nights here with 3 kids ages 10, 11 and 12. We had an RV site in the back of the park and furthest from the freeway. My first impression when we arrived was not great. There was trash (pizza boxes and plastic) in our fire pit and a used half full water bottle on our picnic table at the site when we arrived, I felt that maybe it had not been fully cleaned before we got there. There were a lot of cigarette butts outside the ladies bathroom. On a positive note, The staff was friendly and I like the feel of a family owned campground. Their firewood was priced well. It was close enough to Cedar Point and Soak City. I would prefer Camp Sandusky to staying at the amusement park. Our overall experience was good and we would stay there again. read more

We stayed in one of the rustic cabins and it was just fine for what we were looking for - a low cost place to sleep while visiting Cedar Point amusement park. We like the family atmosphere of campgrounds, and this one was bustling with families. The bathrooms were clean as were the cabin and mattresses. The playground equipment was good. The staff in the office/store were friendly and helpful. My only complaints would be how close together the sites and cabins were and the close proximity to the highway (earplugs helped.) Will probably stay again, as I expected the traffic noise and other campers being noisy. probably due to inebriation. So I was not disappointed. Cabins were not too bad, better than expected. It was a good place to stay being close to cedar point. We didn't spend much time there and we stayed in a tent. The sites are small and offer no privacy. The bathrooms are not very clean. The sites are not marked well at all. It's hard to find where your site is and it's unclear on how much room your site has. Staff was friendly. Couldn't sleep in because the nearby farm that was 20 yards from our tent was doing work in their fields at 7am. I would prefer not to go back but I don't think Sandusky had any place much better to offer. read more

If i could give this negative ratings i would.... Well, the cabins are really just a glorified shed with a bed!!! I had called prior to arrival and ask about cabin location, the gal on the phone said "if you don't like where you're located it won't be any trouble to move you." So we got there, they put us looking at the bathroom, beside a dumpster and propane tank! I went to the office, they said sorry, but the rest of the cabins are assigned already.... even thou they were all empty around us!!! Bathrooms were disgustingly dirty and the sites are so small you can't park your car and have a fire without having to sit on top of your fire ring!!!! Needless to say, we drove down the road and found a hotel that was charging less for a king size bed then what they charge for a shed!! I went to the office, explained my situation and dissatisfaction, spoke with a gentlemen that ensured a full refund but he couldn't do it, said to call the manager the next morning. I call the next morning as instructed and she says "sorry, but he was wrong. We will not be giving you a full refund."And she charged me for 1 night stay! She was very rude and unpleasant!!
