When I visited for a book event (The Cozy Chapter), I found myself thinking - "Wait, is this Ohio? How amazing! Vacay vibes!" Accommodations: Lodging is definitely very unique compared to the surrounding options. Accommodations include houseboats or cottages with various tiers. Lodging accommodates anywhere from 2 to 8 people (plus pets). Both cottages and houseboats have big windows to look at the marina and surrounding nature. Houseboats seem like the most exciting option (they gently sway in water). All lodging includes shared hot tub, floating sauna, and wifi. Pricing is comparable to a hotel starting around $143 (varies based on dates and selection). Pricing and what's included are clearly stated. I think that prices are well worth it. Photos show the exact view you'd see outside your windows and interior accommodations. Interior seems very well designed and picture perfect. Some accommodations don't include shower/bathroom which are shareable onsite. Booking is available on Airbnb and on their website. Parking is available onsite. Activities: There are plenty of activities to do while vacationing. Offsite Cedar Point is minutes away. Onsite there are fishing, hiking (large property), boat tours and boating, kayaking, birding, relaxing by the fire, relaxing by the water in the Adirondack chairs, floating sauna and hot tub. No swimming is available in the marina (not deep), but there is another water location on the property. There's a store onsite where you can play board games or grab any essentials you might have forgotten. Events: I visited for an event series at SōLSTAY - The Cozy Chapter (booked via Eventbrite). It includes book discussion on particular book genre, crafts, book swap, gift, conversations about favorite reads, and community at the SōLSTAY store. The event is ticketed, opened to lodging guests and visitors. Guests can purchase tickets for the season or drop in. I loved the event! Everyone was super friendly, welcoming, social, and in sync. The organizers were so sweet and amazing, even more friendly than I would reasonably expect! They were just really good people! I also found out that they have little free library onsite for any readers who stay here. Book events should return in the colder months. While I only dropped in for an event, I already have plans to return and lodge! They have an all day retreat coming up in the fall! I can't wait to recharge at this dreamy location - lodge, retreat, and use an amazing floating sauna! I'm telling you, you have to experience this place!

We called ahead a few days and asked about the pool and then made reservations to stop on our way back from Lake Leelanau, MI. We let them know we would be arriving late and were told it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived we had to knock on the door of the house for several minutes until a lady in her nightgown (it was still daylight out) answered. She checked us in, took my payment, gave us our gate key and we went to our spot. This is more of a trailer park than a campground, there are more large seasonal trailers here than campers. Spots are no frills, ours was pretty much a small yard big enough to park the truck and camper with water. No shade, no nothing. We could live with it due to the pools. However, when we got the kids in their swimsuits and went over to the pools...they were all closed. I found that this was deceptive since when we placed the reservation we told the lady on the phone we were choosing them because of their heated pool for the kids. She took our reservation fee and never bothered to tell us the pool closed shortly after Labor Day. She knew that it would be closed when we got there but didn't bother telling us. I went to the office to complain and was met with indifference. I went and packed up my camper and kids and on my way out demanded my money back which they refused. Great customer service eh? In the end I got my money back because I called my credit card company and issued a chargeback. I hope they got a fee for it on top the chargeback for wasting my time and gas. You're better off staying at East Harbor State Park Campground which is nearby. Even though the sites are primitive, there's a ton of things for kids to do and it has beautiful beaches that don't close down and staff that will take care of you.

I was skeptical because the photos really didn't do this place justice. However - after a couple of phone calls and a couple of FB messenger exchanges, I really felt the warmth and hospitality that this place offered. They answered all of my rookie questions and told us we would really enjoy it. We ended up in one of the wood cabins and proceeded to call our adventure "glamping" because there was a full bed, 2 bunk beds, a dining table w/2 chairs, ceiling fan/light, air conditioning unit, a microwave and college dorm size fridge and outside a fire pit, a charcoal grill (like the ones you see at national parks) and a picnic table. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and so accommodating that they "escorted" us to our camp site.... literally across the driveway and 25 steps away (lol). There were a few other campers and lots of parked RVs towards the back of the camp ground. We were near the dog run so we saw lots of cute pets and nice pet owners. We even met another camping family who offered and gave us a couple starter logs so we didn't have to buy the bucket of wood for the couple of days we were there. Such a nice community! The pool was our fav spot as it was clean, low key with lots of bright and colorful big sun umbrellas and ice cream and hamburger and hot dogs if you wanted to purchase them. The second day we were up early and the staff was kind enough to let us in the pool before it technically open. We had a little burn incident with tiny hands on a hot marshmallow stick and they gave us a first aid ice pack even though we were ready to buy a bag of ice. The only reason I didn't give them a full 5 stars was because the full bed was not very comfortable and bathrooms looked like it could use an update (comparing bathrooms to a previous experience with Cub Scouts @Bert Adams). The beds are a foam type which for the full size bed it was very thick and became too soft over time. The bunk beds were a thinner type foam mattress and it was just fine. Overall the cabin was very clean - no surprise critter visitors. A couple of tips - opt for the gate card ($10 refundable deposit) - it's well worth not calling every time you return to the site. If it's a short stay, go to Walmart (5 min away) and get the fire starter log. On local experiences - Put In Bay is fun - go for the Perry's Cave, we were told by locals. Cedarlane sells the mining bags - probably save a few dollars buying it here and have it in the car with you. If you want to do the African safari adventure, go to Groupon to get your tickets.... it's fun like a drive through petting zoo but nothing extravagant so get coupons or discounted tickets. When we walked up to it the first thing we all noticed was the rot on our building and the front deck hadn't been pressure washed in a long while. The chairs outside needed to be cleaned as they were filthy and moldy. When we opened the door it seemed like the housekeepers had come in to clean out but didn't add any shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. There was no hair dryer. There were no cups, there was nothing extra but towels. And we spent three nights. The mattresses were lumpy. It was crappy enough sleeping on a double bed but the mattresses were all terrible. This is supposed to be the Mecca in the USA for coaster fanatics. And yes, we have been all over the USA to ride coasters and check out all sizes of parks. This was pretty much the worst place we have ever stayed in property. The food was pretty awful as well js. When you play with the big boys you have to keep up with the big boys and this is not keeping up. SMH. Loved the view.

Our townhome had two main floor bedrooms and an upper loft, all with twin beds - so it could sleep 6 in beds and maybe 2 more on couches. There was no double bed for a couple to sleep in, and my 6' husband's feet hung over the edge of all beds. Bedding was not impressive in any fashion, nor were pillows. There were no lamps in the bedrooms, so overhead lights only. 2 bathrooms and a washer dryer were all good. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment, but bring your own coffee because they don't provide ANYTHING. Lovely table and chairs, big comfy couches and a big TV, all good. Lots of taxidermy, which I find troubling but that might just be me. "The Bay's Edge consists of spacious townhomes along the shores of a well-stocked private fishing pond" - again, rather optimistic.... The townhomes sit on a small man-made square pool of water. It's not a pond. It's stocked with fish, and "catch and release" fishing is allowed, so the fish just keep getting hurt and tossed back over and over. Doesn't seem very sport-like to me. There is no way to get into, or on to the water. It's for looks only. There is a very small area of sand and chairs that is trying to look like a beach but is not. Water is chemically treated, and dead fish were at the water's edge. There is a horseshoe pit and a volleyball area, and the outdoor public bathroom was spotless. Major roads on all sides, so it doesn't look, or feel, like a resort, but more like a roadside attraction. The deck is lovely. Great table and chairs, great gas grill. Renting a sun umbrella will set you back 50.00 + a 30.00 deposit you'll get back (and the sign explaining this is worded in an angry and scolding fashion, as if you are in trouble for a past sin). At this time of the year, it was impossible to be on the deck without it - too hot, full sun. The deck has rails and is mostly child-proof but the square body of water is wide open and easy for little kids to fall as they look for fish. Check-in takes place at the fish-cleaning and bait store on the property, and this is where fisher-people on bigger lakes might enjoy the place, they could fish on the big waters, come home, have the fish cleaned and then grill them up themselves. The bait store also sells beer and Amish furniture. Fish cleaning must be paid for in cash, and there is no ATM on site. If guys were on a fishing weekend, they'd probably be ok as long as they didn't mind the short beds. Families should note the challenges in the bedrooms and the safety issues. Location is close to bigger water, and it might be a good place to stay for Cedar Point as well. I wish I could say the front desk person made it all worthwhile, but she was terse and gruff, as others have stated. To be fair, it can't be an easy job do deal with fisher-people while running a fish cleaning business. The reservation and payment was accurate and easy. Nobody was wearing a mask in the store. We don't fish, we were attending a birthday gathering at Twin Oast, which is a great nearby brewery. We were really looking forward to being away from the kids and getting a great night's sleep, but it wasn't possible in twin beds. Since we had to go out for coffee in the morning, we left long before check out, so we paid 271.00 for 19 hours. Hope this helps others.

Only stayed here for a night, but this place was perfect. I booked a camping spot over the phone 15…read moreminutes before the office closed, and the woman on the phone was extremely helpful. We slept on the ground in sleeping bags. There were a lot of people making noise until about 12:30am, playing music, singing, talking and yelling. The showers were not great but fine for a campground. I went to bed around 2am when everything had died down. Around 7am, some banging started like there might be a shooting range nearby. In the morning, I explored the camping area and got some exercise. So much better than a hotel gym! I ran around, shot some hoops, and bounced on their "jumping pillow" which was exactly what I needed before a day of driving. And it was so much cheaper than a hotel room.
