We are semi-local and have been here several times. Sought this place out on Sunday because we were looking for somewhere to watch the Eagles game. The place was not very crowded and we were able to get seats at the rail and could turn and watch the TV. We had good service and split an order of the wings with the bourbon whiskey sauce. They were very good. Then later we split a Brie LT and were disappointed. Nothing is like the original Brie LT made by the old Coastal Provisions 10 or 15 years ago. Sandtrap inherited it but the ciabatta roll is not nearly as chewy and satisfying, the piece of brie is not the slab it used to be, and the bacon is not the thick peppered applewood smoked stuff it used to be. We were looking for a Breakfast place while leaving the beach. This place was well rated and we decided to check it out. It took us 10 minutes to get a menu, another 10 minutes to order, 20 minutes to get our food and then 10 minutes to get our check. At one point the waitress even came up to us and asked us if we wanted our check, but we have not yet received our food. The food was average -- just average. I ordered an egg sandwich and the SO ordered two eggs and a side of bacon. The bacon was good but both of our eggs were wildly over cooked. My English muffin was super chewy and not crispy at all. And certainly the service was terrible. For a Monday morning with little traffic and 4 waitresses I expected a little more. read more

During our family vacation to the OBX, we searched through Yelp for a good dinner option, We settled on Sandtrap, based on the high rating, and the menu. Had no idea it was just a golf clubhouse, until we entered the parking lot. We even considered just driving on down the road to choice #2. Glad we didn't. This place is very good. Not a very extensive menu, which actually made it easier to choose. I had the brisket melt, and my wife the fish tacos. We also had the buffalo shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was pretty average, but the tacos and the melt were very good. Everyone at our table was also very pleased with their meals. Our waitress, Stevielyn, also did an awesome job. Don't let the clubhouse environment scare you away, and go on in. read more

THIS PLACE IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES IN THE OUTERBANKS! If you are fortunate to be there during happy hour, GET THE SHRIMP YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED Its the best shrimp I've ever had granted I'm in my 20's and I have not had as many shrimps As I would like, I still have to say this was my favorite. I had the brisket sandwich which almost made me lose conscientious because of the food coma I had just endured. I then paid my bill and stumbled to the car with a pot belly full of shrimp and beef. I think chef was having a bad day. Very basic menu good prices but nothing fancy yet they still screwed up and no I'm sorry or let me do something to fix it. We ordered scrambled eggs and we got hard eggs that were cut a few times. Then I ordered over hard eggs and very well done hash browns thankfully the waitress caught the hash browns weren't well done and my eggs were soft not worth the trip in. read more

This is our third time visiting and again good food, and service. Greeted as we came in, servers both welcomed us and said they would be right with us. One came right away and took orders. Drinks refilled, and never felt in the need of something. Table of 4, different sandwiches, and salad. Good portions and prices. We sat outside and nice day to just sit and watch golfers. Open to anyone not just golfers, and as a local nice to find a place to go that I know the food is going to be good. read more

It was GREAT! Stopped in after a day at H2OBX with the family and had the fried chicken sandwich, pulled pork sliders and steamed shrimp. We are staying in our timeshare villa this week at Seascape and decided to try out Sandteap Tavern. I'm sure glad we did!! We went for the happy hour 3-6 specials wings, shrimp, tacos, etc. The wings and shrimp were larger than other restaurants serve during their happy hour. The kids ate off the kids meal and the chef even made a speciality of his for the kids to try...a.grilled pb&j!! We all sampled it and now my kids want me to make it for them at home. The husband ate breakfast there also one day before golf and enjoyed it. I k know we'll be back to eat this week! read more

My sister and I went here while on vacation at the outerbanks. First of all we walked in and they barely greeted us and basically just said sit wherever u want. The menu was really small and did not have that many options, I ended up ordering shrimp and it gave me FOOD POISONING. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Brittany was our server, and it seemed as though she was the only person working that night. She had a rowdy crew sitting at the bar, but she kept her composure and every time she arrived at our table, she always had a smile. She checked in often and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was tasty and very affordable. We ordered two sandwiches and a pint of beer each. I was surprised at the bill, it felt as though we were only charged for one person. The service was terrible. Went there yesterday. Only 3 people inside. Our group of 6 came in and sat down. Employees ignored us. Had to go to the bar to request a server. After our order was delivered the server brought us our check before we finished without asking if we wanted anything else. Paid her in cash and she never returned with change. Our poor waitress had to deal with a large group of us (appx 20 or so, some locals and some from Colorado) coming in without advance notice and not long before they closed. She was super attentive and if she felt any pressure, she never let it show (I later learned that was the first time she handled such a large group on her own). She was gracious and sweet and all of our food was brought out in a timely manner with virtually no mistakes. That's quite impressive considering how many of us she had to deal with. The bartender made sure our drinks were always refreshed and was also very pleasant and friendly. The food never disappoints. I've eaten there several times over the past few years and have always been very happy with whatever I chose. The salads are amazing, the fish tacos top notch and the shrimp and wings are to die for. Bonus....if you go in on Thursday or Friday nights you get to listen to some great bands! It's one of my family's favorite places to go, hands down. read more

Absolutely terrific. This is our new favorite restaurant in OBX. Yes, it's a golf clubhouse but it's open to all and easy to access. The restaurant is clean and welcoming with plenty of seating. Our server was very attentive and hospitable. We started with their happy hour (3-6pm) steamed shrimp, which was only $5 for 1/2 lb, and then I had the Founder Platter, my wife had the fish tacos and the brownie a la mode. It was all absolutely delicious and 1/3 the price as the other local seafood joints. The menu isn't huge by any means but it has more than enough great options for us. With drinks, our bill was less than $35 total - same price as 1 meal at other local spots. Highly recommend giving this place a shot! Also, the sweet tea was great. read more

We are from Va Beach and was visiting my brother and sister in law who lives around the corner. They had not tried it til today when we all went to lunch. I have never had brisket melt taste so wonderful... it was hot - cheese was melted - the bread was toasted and it melted in your mouth with sweet flavors.... my mom had the tavern dip and she would not stop telling us how fresh the bread was and how tender the meat was. and the dip - there was enough for a few more bites if she had any left :) my brother had the tavern burger and that is next on my list when we go back up there.... my sister in law had the cobb salad and it was big enough for 2 people to enjoy.... and loaded with all the right fixing to the top.... I definitely will go there again and again.... our families new secret hidden spot... (beware though I am a emt with a transport company so if you see an ambulance there it is NOT for any reason but to EAT GREAT FOOD) read more
