Chicken Fried Rice

Stopped in to see the wonderful owners of Sandra's Rice & Noodles and was welcomed as soon as we walked in. Ha sat us at our favorite table and took our drink order right away. My daughter was struggling to pick her food but of course the owner helped us decide by describing what the food was to her in a way she would understand. Though we haven't been to this side of town to enjoy this delicious food since August of last year, she remembered my sons order exactly and made him feel special as always. I can not tell you how wonderful the service is at this restaurant! Though the parking lot is currently under construction, the inside of the building is clean and has plenty of Asian decor and awards they have won over the years for their amazing dishes. One of their most popular dishes is their chicken pho and it's made fresh daily. Please come see them soon and try their yummy food!

If you want some of the best Pho in the city, check this place out. I've been here a few times, and they have always provided top notch food. On this occasion I met some coworkers for lunch. We were the only ones dining in and were promptly provided menus and waters. I usually get the beef pho, but opted for the rice noodle soup, which had shrimp and pork. It was awesome. It came with bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime on the air, just like pho. Everything was fresh! The soup was hot with a flavorful broth. Would definitely get his again! This mom and pop shop is worth a visit for sure!

I was very pleased with the quality of the food. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The portions are big too. I would definitely come back.

This Vietnamese/Chinese eatery has been around for many years. It is not as flashy as some of the newer places I love to frequent, but it is enough and comfortable in its subtlety. Plus, the flavor is what's important and there's nothing subtle about the flavors going on here! Plus, plus, the owners are very kind and appreciate all support of their business that (literally) serves edible art. #Getlostindiana

Absolutely love coming in here. They never seem to disappoint. I was lucky enough to get here after any lunch rush.

Sandra's is always a great place for lunch. I have my standard order of chicken noodle but decided to try the teriyaki chicken this. It was delicious. I love that the lunch specials come with a poultry roll and chicken rice soup. Shown are the teriyaki chicken and pork with stir fried rice noodles.

The dinner box delivered us to here on date night and I was excited. We eat dinner pretty early, so there was nobody else in the restaurant when we got there. The server was very pleasant and greeted us with menus and water pretty quickly. We shared the poultry rolls, Hubs got a seafood and noodles dish, I got a beef and rice noodles dish. The poultry rolls weren't terrible, it was the dipping sauce that made them good. Hubs said his seafood and noodles was amazing. The beef on my dish was quite tasty, but the rest of it was just a cold, tasteless concoction of rice noodles, cabbage, and bean sprouts. I was disappointed.

The restaurant features an extensive drink menu that will suite anyone's pallet. We chose to start with the bread service which was killer especially the honey butter. All of the apps look d amazing but went for the dry rub duck wings with home made ranch. My only critic was I wish there were more than 3. Finished off with the shrimp and grits. Although, I wasn't in New Orleans the spiciness took me back there. The wait staff was great. Even though we were late for the reservation we were seated promptly and had multiple people taking care of us. Spoke & Steele is a must if you are staying in the hotel but also if you want a cool vibe for drinks and great food I would stop by and take a look.

Intimate. The lighting? Soft. The whole space feels like a quiet luxury moment tucked right into the city. Now let's talk about what REALLY matters, the food. The shrimp & grits??? Listen... this wasn't just a dish, this was an EXPERIENCE. The grits were creamy, smooth, and perfectly rich, but that sauce layered on top?? Whew. Flavor on flavor on flavor. You've got that deep, savory, slightly smoky profile with juicy shrimp, sausage, and those pickled onions cutting through everything with the perfect tang. Every bite felt intentional. Like somebody knew what they were doing in that kitchen. And can we talk about how beautiful it was plated?? Because yes, I absolutely appreciated the aesthetics before I even picked up my fork. Paired it with a simple coffee moment, sitting by the window, and honestly... it felt like a reset. Not rushed, not loud, just good food, good atmosphere, and a chance to actually enjoy it. If you're looking for a brunch spot that feels a little more elevated, a little more intentional, and delivers on both flavor and experience. This is it. 10/10. I'll absolutely be back!!!

The restaurant has a very cute aesthetic and plenty of seating whether you wanna sit at a table or at the bar. It was a little bit of a busier time when we came for lunch, but it didn't take our group too long to be seated. They have plenty of options if you have a taste for sushi or if you want a regular protein based entrée with rice I also appreciate that there were a lot of veggie options for non-meat eaters. I had a dish with broccoli and shrimp and it had great flavor and the portion size was perfect. It also came with a small side salad or soup before your entree came out.

It looks appealing on the…read moreoutside and, walking in, also has nice booths, some tables, and a unique, beautiful, large bar/sushi counter. The restaurant presents like a higher-end sushi house, but this is a little mismatched with the slightly loud 80s pop tunes streaming from the speakers. It seems like instrumental soft Japanese stings would be more appropriate. Also a little mismatched in the ambiance is a giant TV screen on the back wall (near out table), and large TVs over the bar area. They just don't "look right" with the tables and interior décor. The menu seems on par in price and offerings for similar-style sushi houses. We split edaname($6), I got the sushi dinner ($23) and hubs got the special lobster & seafood clay pot ($36). I drank water and he had 1 diet coke, so everything with tax + 20% tip came to $90. The food is presented beautifully, and tasted good. Both dinners had choice of soup or salad, and we each got ginger salad. We're lovers of ginger dressing. This one was ok - tasted good but could have used more, as I has lots of un-dressed lettuce in the bowl. My sushi dinner was fine but nothing extraordinary. For the "special" lobster & seafood clay pot, presentation was again beautiful, aroma and taste were good, nice sauce, but it was a little underwhelming in both seafood contents and amount. That being said, we had a small amount of leftovers from the hub's dish (some rice, sauce and veggies), and they present very nice takeout bags with a thermal lining. We actually ended up giving the container of food to a homeless man downtown, so I did not eat the leftovers, and, admittedly, it was not enough for a full lunch. So overall, while the food was very pretty and also tasty, we have a lot of other sushi options that give more bang to the buck for our quantity and atmosphere preferences. #yum #ReviewsByRL

I had the mocktail Nohito and it was sooo cute and delicious! The others had cocktails and a bottle of coke (yes glass bottle)- cute right?! Now we had the Karange tofu and I need that recipe! The crispiest most flavorful tofu outside and nice and soft inside. Couldn't tell it wasn't chicken! We also had oysters. For dinner I had the Katsu Curry and it was on point! And the leftovers were just as delicious. My sister had the Tantanmen and it was sooo good!! I could drink that broth. They do give you options for rice instead of noodles and broth if you like options. We also shared the Glazed tofu and yall it will change your LIFE!!! The drinks, the ramen, the dessert...we love it all, and we love spending our money at a local business. For years now, the kitchen has substituted rice for ramen for me because I have gluten intolerance. I have always asked respectfully, explained why, and said thank you, every single time. Tonight my husband and I walked down to Strangebird for dinner, ordered drinks and dinner, and I had *just* said to my husband that Strangebird has come to feel like a second home. Then the server came out and told us that the chef has decided they will no longer permit any modifications, including those that meet dietary needs. We were out on the quiet patio surrounded by other customers, so on top of being totally blindsided, it was actually pretty embarrassing, too. Folks, let me tell you how much I wish I could just eat the ramen noodles like everybody else. So much food that I love (and in some cases spent years learning to make myself) went out the window forever when my body stopped being able to handle wheat. But at Strangebird, I could still go in and enjoy the depth of flavor in every other component of a bowl of ramen. And that meant the absolute world to me. I'm heartbroken.
