Cup of tom Kha soup.
Lois M.

Sometimes I just want an appetizer dinner and places that offer a variety plate of appetizers are my fave. Sandee Thai has a great appetizer sampler that comes with two of each of the following: fried dumplings (gyoza), spring rolls, shrimp rolls, crab rangoons and fried tofu triangles. It's served with a little dish of sweet & sour sauce and soy sauce is at the table. The appetizers were delicious and perfectly cooked. I also had a cup of tom kha, a coconut-based soup with lemongrass, lime leaves, mushrooms, tomatoes, cilantro, cabbages, carrots, galangal and onions. The cup was as big as a bowl in most other places and very tasty! Service was great, attentive to our needs, and friendly. I'll definitely be coming back here. I forgot to take a pic of the appetizer plate (which just means I'm going to have to go back soon and order it again!) but I did get a pic of that (big) cup of tom kha :)

First of all, let me say that their food is good. We have been going here for years for their Orange Chicken and Soups. We were faithful customers during the pandemic and still were. However, last night we went there and my wife ordered the curry at spice level 2. It is a 1-5 scale. When we received it, it was too hot for her to eat. I tried it, and I like spicy food--I found it to be hot as well. We called the waitress over and let them know. They came back and said there really is no way to make it any less spicy--as they don't add spice to level 2--it starts at level 2. Then she told my wife that she shouldn't order curry again and walked away. I feel an appropriate response would have been to offer something else less spicy--or ask my wife is she would like to get something else in place of the curry. Or some other solution other than--"tough luck--that is what you ordered." In the end I shared my orange chicken--which is great--with my wife. I am going to eat the curry later, but still feel this was the wrong thing for the restaurant to do. We have spent a lot of money there over the years and now I don't feel like going back. I might give them another chance, maybe.

Sandee Thai in Silverton was divine. Drunken noodles with duck, crab fried rice and a tasty tub of punkin curry!

Pad Thai Gai with tofu

Had a late lunch with a friend. It was completely empty but was uniquely decorated (ie. a large Valentine heart next to a statue). I ordered their tofu Pad Thai Gai and my friend ordered one of their curries. I do not like to eat spicy food, but I would recommend getting 2/5 stars for spice. The slight spice will provide a more complex flavor to your dish. My Pad Thai Gai was absolutely amazing. The wide noodles were surprisingly chewy. The strips of ginger and green onion were plentiful. Definitely don't recommend the Pad Thai Gai if you don't like ginger. I tried a taste of my friend's curry, and it was so good that I wished I had ordered their curry instead, but I really loved my dish! Service was quick and friendly. Place was clean. If I am ever in the area, I would definitely come here again. No doubt.

Gluten free beef Pad Thai

We stopped in on Friday for a late lunch and we were not disappointed!! It's hard to find a restaurant who offers vegan and gluten-free options in the Salem Keizer area! The server was so helpful in making sure we could modify dishes to be vegan and gluten-free. This is our new go-to Thai place - we ordered shrimp drunken noodles, vegan yellow curry and gluten free beef pad thai and they were all delicious !!

Basil chicken was seriously good. The service and price was great. However the setting could use some updates. 4.5 stars.

It is a simple condiment and I have no idea why they would tell me that unless I paid I could not get the peanut sauce when the Thai restaurant right down the road next to the dollar tree (Lanxang Lao Thai Cuisine) has never told me I could not have a side of peanut sauce nor do they charge you! The people of Salem are keeping your business alive and open by purchasing food through you, the least you can do is take care of the people and stop trying to pinch pennies and take, take, take from all of us, and treat us with respect and kindness, knowing that we choose to eat at your establishment and that we do not have to choose to eat there! It's literally just a simple side condiment and I am baffled that you wanted to charge me and I don't think that I'm going to be back and I think I will take my business elsewhere because there is plenty of Thai options in Salem!

We looked on Yelp, and decided on this place because they had decent reviews, and were pretty close to Mom. I ordered the drunken noodles, she ordered phad Thai, both with chicken, and we had an appetizer of chicken sate. The chicken sate was good, I thought the drunken noodles were just alright. Mom liked hers, and she liked mine even better. She isn't used to really good Thai food like I am, I am spoiled in that way. The place was pretty busy, there was only one table open, we were seated right away. Our orders taken fast, Food given at a decent speed, but once the food came, not once were we checked on, and no one came for quite a while. In fact I had to go get our to go boxes, and go up to get our check to pay. Our waitress was no where! It was a man. My Mom was a waitress for most of her working life, in fact retired from it not long ago. Even she was disappointed, and she hates complaining, knowing the service industry. I truly hope it was a fluke on this particular day, because leaving is like the waitress did was rude. I can't see wanting to come back, I would rather drive the extra distance to South Salem to the better place.

Walking in the doors it felt like you'd expect in a small strip mall; cluttered in the counters, open seating, Thai themed decor, and someone smiling and available to seat you. It had a bit of a chaos, meets slow paced feel. The pace is slow. You are not in and out, unless you pre order to go. The experience is slow. And seating is close enough that conversation is shared amongst all. But the vibes are positive, and the feeling was good. We knew going in our food would take a little longer than elsewhere. The server was kind, a bit nervous it seemed, but did an awesome job and made us feel welcome. The food was good, and okay, and great. The chicken fresh rolls were odd, while a good introduction to salad rolls for someone that hasn't had them before it was an odd combination for us (tofu and shrimp are preferred). The shrimp salad rolls were yummy, and on par with others. The peanut sauce was also good, not my favorite but better than anything store bought that I've tried. The pad Thai was a bit overly sweet for us, and more saucy than we've had in the past, it was good but not our top choice for pad Thai. The Yellow curry and Duck Curry were the stars of our orders, both curries were on par with elsewhere but the proteins shined, especially the duck!
