When Things Go Bad, they go BAD!!! & that was according to a staff member We did the zombie experience game It is only a 24 min experience (started at 7pm ended close to 9pm); so many tech problems and the staff had to get assistance from another location remotely. Took forever, and we had all the equipment on.... Then, when the game started, they kept having problems which did not allow us to really get into the game. It was okay! However, the most offensive part was the offer for 10% discount; they give a 20% discount if you do a survey. They did not respect our time obviously, even though they knew their delays caused us problems with our dinner plans. Bad Customer Service!!! read more

Saw this place a couple of times at the mall so I tried it out. Welcoming staff and clearly explain everything. Shaloma was awesome at helping me out here. You can reserve ahead of time or walk in. You can go solo but the manager Reagan offered to join me so I wouldn't be solo. I played Amber Sky 2088 and it was great! I would try again in the future. Couple of things to note. They only take cards. If you wear glasses they have lenses for you to try with the headsets. They have a place for you to put your jackets and other belongings. Height affects the way you play the game if you are in a group and at certain points in the game requires players to touch the other players sensors. If the headset feels loose during the experience you can raise your hand and the staff will pause the game and you can adjust everything as needed. read more

Game was fun when it worked, but we had tons of technical issues. Spent half the time waiting for rebooting to happen. They had to switch my battery pack twice mid-game. We did deadwood mansion. Staff was fine. I've done vr a bunch of times and I've never gotten sick but for some reason I got sick here and almost threw up. Had to stop early. The game was super laggy I think that was what got me sick. The aiming was also glitching which was annoying and made it less fun. The game just wasnt fun in my opinion. There were 4 of us and only 1 didnt get sick and said they would come back. That was their first vr experience though. I honestly don't think I would come back. This was our first time trying VR. Our reservation was for 3pm and they say to get there 15 min early, which we did but when we got there an employee told us they were a little behind because of technical issues. We were okay with that since we weren't in a rush. So we are finally called around 3:15 and the employee that helped us put our gear on wasn't the friendliest but not a big deal. So we put everything on and get started, only for the game to freeze about 5 min in. Then again a couple of min later. Then AGAIN AND AGAIN. All in all we stood around doing nothing in between playing for a total of around 15-20 min for them to do updates, replace batteries, or fix equipment. It was horrible but the worst part to me was that we didn't get an apology or anything of the sort. We'll never go back. read more

I have been to other locations and had a great time, but this location was really bad. First red flag was that when we put on the wristbands they were soaking wet and we saw the people coming out of the room right before the same bands were handed to us, I don't think the bands were sanitized at all it was purely someone else's sweat. The main issue though was that we didn't get to play the second half of our scenario because one player literally couldn't see, his screen went black and we were yelling the safe word for at least 5-10 minutes which is about 25% of the entire game, nobody was paying attention or heard us. It was really disappointing. We have played at other locations before but this one was very understaffed and didn't offer any type of refund or credit for a next time, but since my friend couldn't play for 25% of the game it literally wasn't worth the money. Also, if they are so understaffed then why did they have all rooms running? They should only operate the rooms they have staff for.... read more

Really wanted to give Sandbox VR Cerritos 5 stars and would've if their equipment wasn't so faulty, as we still had a blast. You can make a reservation online at their website in which you'll be asked to make a payment. I went for a sisters date and we arrived on time to our reservation and waited around for our room to be set up. Which is fine but we only had 29 minutes of game time. The game had to be paused multiple times for technical difficulties- one of the guns my sister had literally fell apart while she was using it. VR limbs were disappearing and dislocating, which was actually really funny. But the most frustrating part was that 5 guns out of 6 were not shooting properly. Zombies were not being shot/ taking damage even though aim was deadset and trigger was pulled, so it took 3x the effort from all team players to kill them when the connection did go through. The staff that was helping us were friendly and trying their best to support us- no complaints there. But we did feel like we lost our dignity because our scores were so low and embarrassing (except for the one person whose gun was fully functioning)! There's no way 4 grown adults scored in the 10,000s- we can't be that bad! We failed the mission. I can't even look at my dog in the face, that's how personally I took this loss, haha. I want us to play again to redeem ourselves but for the price of the experience ($45 pp on a weekend), it's just not worth it only to risk getting faulty equipment again. That's out of our control. I just can't take another hit to whatever pride I have left. Overall, super cool concept but perhaps can test run equipment more often? read more

$55 down the drain for me. I guess my headset was broken the entire time, my group couldn't hear me, nor could I hear them. My gun stopped working, they gave me a new gun, it broke again, then I had to completely change my gun to a different gun. My headset was extremely blurry. I could barely see anything. I thought the blurriness was normal until after we left and my group was talking about how amazed they were with the clear graphics. Then at the end apparently they filmed a dance party for a video you can take home, because my headset wasn't working, I didn't hear this was happening and my screen was entirely black. Until, again, we left and watched the video and I'm just standing there not participating in the dancing because all my equipment was broken and I didnt know there was a dance party happening and I was left out of the experience. You get another video at the end thats like a "trailer". The video is cool, except again, my mic wasn't working so I had zero participation in the video. If the employees are editing the footage in real time to make this trailer, they didn't notice they weren't receiving voice bytes from me during the session? I was speaking the entire time. Overall, all my equipment was broken, blurry, unfixed. $55 - I'm not sure what I payed for. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Such a great experience! Came down to Cali for a quick vacation with the family and found this Sandbox VR. It was our first time ever doing it and it was so fun. We played twice with three players and had a blast. Everything felt so real and is a really great way to bring people together. The room that the experience takes place is pretty big and has enough room for even more players. First time trying out the VR with my girlfriend. The staff were super welcoming and very informative in regards to what the place is about. We did Amber Sky and it was fast pace and exciting. Super futuristic without lag and rooms are very wide and mobile. You can talk to each other on the headset. Passed by this place many times but I'm glad I gave this a chance to try it and now I'm hooked. Definitely coming back to play deadwood mansion with a much bigger party! I would recommend this to anyone that would like the best high cutting edge tech experience when it comes to VR. Not forgetting to mention there is PVP gameplay surprisingly. THINGS NEEDED TO BE FIXED: defected guns, glitchy laggy and choppy games, bugged body trackers, better headsets w/ better mic (can barely hear tm8s and needs better surround sound that enhances the experience), few more games (hopefully coming soon). OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE. Right when I walked in, we checked in and were already helped with a worker within a few minutes and quickly escorted to our room. Shermae helped us in and out of situations that didnt allow us to play the game properly quickly. She paused the game to let us know what was happening and identified whose weapons weren't working, then quickly replaced defected weapons with well-working ones within a minute. Not ready for prime time yet. First time going and it was for a birthday celebration. Had a party of 3 and we played Deadwood Valley. The game seemed to have quite a few glitches and was lagging at times. Guns had a delay when shooting and sometimes it took 4-5 trigger pulls before they would fire. One of our teams guns would just randomly float away during game play. We were fitted with Haptic feedback vests, but they didnt do anything, they just made it hotter. You do have mics so you can talk to each other, however there are no settings and the operator apparently cant adjust. One of our team members was incredibly loud and the other two were crazy quiet so it made it unusable. I dont know if this is normal, but halfway through they had to pause to replace everyones battery pack? This could be a fun experience when the technology gets there, but as is, the oculus quest gives a much better experience. read more

I was taken here by my friends for my birthday last weekend, excited to no end to do something like this that I have never done before! It was the Star Trek experience and I was horribly disappointed! This 30 minute event took almost an hour and a half, and not in a good way! Most of the time it was either on pause or down, rebooting. Some of the equipment wasn't working, the employees were too inexperienced to handle it, and we were all exhausted from wearing all that heavy gear 3 times longer than we should have. Was very excited about trying this new place. When we got there the rep advised we needed to make an appointment. Went online to make next appointment available at 4:30. We had to wait an hour and fifteen mins but that was ok because the kids were excited. We went back at 4:20 for our appointment and was advised that they were trying to call us, even though no missed calls to state that they double booked and wanted to give us a credit. Unfortunately we are from east coast just visiting for spring break leaving in a few days. They ended up giving us a refund but was very disappointed we wasted a whole hour and a half sitting waiting to not get in. Gave it 1 star cause I had to. Future reference to keep your potential customer's happy, fix your appointment scheduler to not overbook, if that was even the case. Very disappointed waste of time read more

Buyer beware! Take your entertainment dollars elsewhere. After an AMAZING experience at the Austin location, I thought this would be the perfect birthday adventure for my nephew. Unfortunately, our evening at the Cerritos location was an unmitigated disaster. We chose the Star Trek Discovery Away Mission but there were glitches in the software from the very beginning that required multiple system restarts, swapping out equipment, calling in other staff members to troubleshoot the problem. All of this went on for the next 2 1/2 long hours but we made the most of it and I have nothing bad to say about any member of their team. They tried to help fix the issue as best they could and were all really great. My real issue is with the manager who said he would refund our money. Had that happened, as he promised, I wouldn't be leaving this negative review. The first one I've ever made, in fact. But despite numerous attempts to reach him directly on the phone or ANYONE at the location to help resolve the issue, even going as far as contacting SandboxVR's corporate customer service, I have yet to see a penny of the $238 refund they promised. read more
