Had friends in town and came here on their last day as a way to wrap up their trip. We were in Delray at a spa, so came here for a bite to eat and some drinks since it's right across from the beach. I like that it's open and very chill. Thank god for the sun shades because it was blazing hot and sunny out. They have a huge tiki bar as well as table seating. There's some colorful adirondack (sp?) chairs with a mini splash pad to keep cool. They have corn hole (bags) and on another time I came (for Labor Day) there was a live DJ. They serve your typical food and bar cocktails, nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but would if I was in the area, craving a frosty beverage and wanted to hang right near the beach. To eat I had the Sandbar Wrap (roasted turkey, applewood bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce and avocado aioli on a tomato basil tortilla). It was quite good actually. It came with Funky Fusion potato chips, also good. To drink I had the Tropical Storm Daiquiri (Bacardi superior rum, raspberry, strawberry and mango purée). I added a Bacardi floater (shot) for $1. This frosty beverage did hit the spot. Parking is readily available, may be more difficult on a weekend though with beach goer traffic. This place is all about LOCATION! Right across from the beach on Atlantic in Delray the vibe at Sandbar is great. The whole place is outdoors with sand floor and one of those ground fountains you see kids playing in... but for adults... inebriated adults. I have not tried the food so I can't comment on that. They have a decent selection of draft beer and full bar. Service has always been good the couple of times I've been there sitting both at the bar and one of the tables. This place is a disgrace. My daughter and her friend went here for food and drinks on Sunday 2/27/2022 and ended up being physically grabbed by the male security guards. The girls were reprimanded for using the bathroom together because the line was long.... while the bathroom lady attendant tried to force herself in the stale. The fact that this establishment condones behavior like this from their workers is horrible. I will be reporting to The Better Business Bureau. My daughter got pictures of the men who grabbed her and her friend. If your a female stay FAR AWAY from this place, shouldn't be a paying customer and have to come here to get assaulted!!! read more

A chaotic yelp to say the least Chose this place with a group of friends while in town because it is outdoors and in the evenings not too crowded so it is a great spot for the covid weary. Ambiance: A great place to hangout with friends. Chill vibes and right across from the beach. Sit at low or high top tables, couches, nice little outdoor games, etc. Drinks: A fun assortment of "spring break" drinks with your usual's. I love their pina cooladas, margaritas, and mojitos. Mildly strong so never a bad idea to make it a double. Staff: The night we were there may have been an exception. Walked in just before 9:00pm on Dec 30th (online and the sign said open till 12am) and was told to seat ourselves. Waitress came by who was super sweet and took our order and the first round came out in about 10 minutes. Around 9:25pm she asked if we wanted a second round to which half of us said yes. She comes back at 9:50ish and says she apologized for the delay there was "a problem with the bartender" less than two minutes later she comes over and tells us we have to leave immediately and drops the check. We look around and see that everyone is being told this and all easily confused as us because several of the tables just also got another round with this "bartender issue" The waitress stands there while we put down a card and the second she walks away the buss boy I kid you not takes all five of his fingers and puts them on the rim of my drink and goes "are you done with this?" while picking it up off the table!!!! Now besides Covid this is just gross all around to do to someone's half drank drink. Before I even respond he tosses it on the ground behind him (which is sand) and moves to the next person. My friend who just got her drink and is 75% tries to move her drink away just witnessing mine but too late his fingers are WET from her drink because he's shoving his hand in her drink!!!! At this point were laughing at the ridiculousness of what's happening that the next friend is hiding her drink under the table so he doesn't ruin it. This is happening all around us at the others tables also. If I had to guess I would have to say someone on the staff got Covid and they were trying to clear out the bar which is fair but maybe don't do it that way or just be honest. Came here for happy hour because we wanted to be at a place with a view of the ocean. This spot definitely checks off that criteria as it is right across the street from the beach! Relaxed fun vibe with actual sand on the ground, music bumping, and people playing corn hole. I didn't love their happy hour options because it was just half off draft beers and 2 of their cheaper wines in each category- red, white, rose. But they also had half off their apps which was good. I got the Pinot Grigio wine and didn't really like it. The conch fritters were good, crispy on the outside and warm and mushy on the inside but they didn't have a lot of actual conch. I came here for a more mellow happy hour with two friends and didn't feel this was the best place for it. However, this place looks like a lot of fun if you come with a large group of people and want to have a fun day of day drinking or a night out at a place with a relaxed beachy vibe. During my visit, Veronica kept my glass full. Nice gal, kept it real. You can sit under the hut, or around a spray fountain to keep your footsies under water, or at any of the tables with or without an umbrella, or the bar on the side. This place is for the outdoor beverage connoisseurs. The ladies are very nice, very pretty, and the atmosphere chill. You can come here after your beach bum experience, or come through for a breather from the sand and walk right back across the street to continue. The service and facility are bomb. Came here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon with my mom. It was pretty full but we were able to find a high top table. The atmosphere is great from the music to the décor. They have drink specials everyday which is great and on Sunday bloody Mary's were only $5 or $6 so we decided to start with that. Our waitress came over pretty quickly and was very nice. We also ordered chips with salsa and guacamole and the pulled pork sliders with cole slaw. We got our bloody Mary's drank those and waited for our food. After about 45 minutes our waitress stopped by to take our empty glasses and we asked her about our food. She said the system went down and she would look into it. At that time we also ordered a round of pina coladas. Our food came out pretty quickly after that except our sliders came with fries instead of cole slaw, but once we told the man who brought the food he brought us over a side of it. The chips and guac were just normal chips and guac nothing crazy but the salsa was pretty good. The pulled pork sliders were very tasty but I only had about two bites of one because as I was eating a very intoxicated girl (who the bouncers had been watching fall repeated throughout the time I was there and did not do anything besides laigh) fell a final time right on her face and was gushing blood all over the place. Met up with friends after work. Spotted a high top close to the bar. Chilled there. Not 1 server came over to us. So I went to the bar. The bartender quickly greeted me but said he would send a server over to my friends and I. She eventually came over but had a bad attitude right off the bat. I ordered 3 specialty drinks and some awesome peel and eat shrimp. We eneded up with about 10 people hanging out around the little table. This server could have made a bunch of money but for the most part was no where to be found. So part of our party got drinks from the bar, and a few of us just stopped ordering. I waited tables for 10 years. It's not rocket science. Have a great attitude...check in regularly...make $. This restoraunt is an AWESOME product. With great atmosphere. We used to make this a regular stop. The place was convenient and pretty much empty most of the time. Waitress in bikinis kind of annoying and demeaning but not the reason for this review. We have a service dog and he's a real service dog with papers and credentials... we approached the restaurant to have some drinks and food when this man, assuming the manager came toward us telling us in no uncertain terms we cannot enter! And WHAT IS YOUR DISABILITY!! Holy cow ... We were shocked! This is a FIRST for us ever! We tried to explain the dog purpose he would NOT listen. At that point I no longer wanted anything to do with this place. My husband is still so upset because it was a tradition for at least 15 years. I contacted the ADA and they sent me a complaint form. I also emailed the restaurant to let them know what I intend on doing for the sake of people with disabilities. JUST because you can't SEE a disability doesn't mean it isn't there. And asking what is WRONG with us is also not okay! The demeanor, attitude and down right aggressive actions of this person are not okay! I've been coming to this place since it opened. It really isn't too hard to fuck this up. Very popular downtown Beach area out in the open, and an excellent day drinking spot. Nighttimes are what they are, but the bar really operates on all cylinders during the day time (chairs set up near water sprinklers to keep you cool during the day, Cornhole & shuffleboard, and just a very nice environment for a day drinking session). Great ambiance. Horrible service. Three of us came in on a Thursday afternoon. The server was not good from the beginning, but the place is right by the beach so I understand it, I guess. When we got our check she had charged us for an extra drink, which is fine but she said that she can only get a drink if she rings it in, therefore we were lying to her. Kim B, the server, was so rude that I was amazed. I was a server for 5 years and I understand that you cannot take a drink unless you ring in, but she never considered that maybe she rang it in on the wrong table or that she left her computer screen unlocked. **AVOID AT ALL COSTS WHEN IN DELRAY** The guys who check ID's at the entrance are a fine example of the lowest level of security service that a service establishment can hire. It must be some satisying fantasy to live in walking into a bar that is the size of about half-an-acre on top of fake sand (which is also across the street from the beach with no view) and pretending your a police officer because you didn't get into police academy due to your lack of confidence. On top of that, add being surrounded by people half your age having twice as good of a time than you are. What do you do? Pick them off one by one, and kick them out at your pleasure, of course. Indeed, that is what they do here. Thinking about dancing? Don't do it here... you'll be cut off from the bar for appearing too intoxicated. Thinking about having a good ole' worry-free time with some friends without having 50-year old men decide what "too drunk" looks like on a couple of young women? Please do yourself a favor and just go to any of the more than 100 bars and restaurants on Atlantic Ave (yes, there is more than 100 choices on Atlantic Ave for you to choose from other than this poor excuse of a bar). If I could forget this place ever existed, my life would be better. I have been visiting Delray Beach for some time and had always wanted to visit the Sandbar. This was about a month ago, I arrived with a friend 10 minutes before they opened, we were spending the day at the beach and decided to have a few drinks there first. Once the doors opened, I asked the hostess is the bar was open. I asked this because I work for local government and know of some cities prohibit the sale of alcohol prior to a certain time, in these cases only the kitchen would be open for breakfast/lunch. The brunette hostess replied with a very snooty response, " Of course it is, that's why I opened the doors." She obviously wasn't interested in being there. I live in Miami and I rarely get such rude service. Thankfully, our server was a very sweet girl and we ended up having a nice time. I came to the US last November to Jackson (Wyoming) and because of the Covid I traveled to Miami to return to my country. I've been stucked in Miami (Brickell Downtown) the last 3 weeks, and almost every day I made 80 miles to go to Delray and Sandbar. If I made it is because I really enjoy that place, also It reminds me Brazil beach bars. I visit the Sand Bar every time I come to Florida. Love the atmosphere and the beach vibe. But the last time I was there the waitress gave us the wrong drinks and refused to exchange them for the right ones. It was obvious the drinks we were served were not Mai Tais, in fact the recipe is on the menu. Not one ingredient was in our drinks. Wrong liquor wrong color wrong garnish. Warning!!! If you don't have a USA ID, they do NOT want you there. I went there with my wife and step son who is 25 years old and lives in Costa Rica. He went to order beer and the waitress carded him for his age. He showed her his Costa Rica ID and she told us only USA ID's are accepted here. So my step son politely declined the beer and said he would have a coke instead. Then the MANAGER ran over told us we would have to leave that my step son is not Welcome here (he is Latin). We will never go there again and I strongly recommend you don't go either. Diverse crowd of all ages. 16 oz. beers are a little pricey but not unreasonable. Food is lackluster. Barstaff much more attentive than waitstaff, but wait! You're not here for attentive, fine dining, are you? Watched the owner very rudely deny entry to a woman with a service dog, even though she offered to show documentation of his qualifications. When she explained that he was a service animal he replied "yeah ok I'm gonna pretend you didn't just say that". She returned later after dropping her dog back home and he continued to antagonize her via the servers, insisting that they unnecessarily ID her and offer terrible service. Today, I was physically assaulted by the very large bathroom attendant for using the restroom. She tried to illegally detain me while blocking me in the bathroom and shoved me with her chest. I advised her that I was very knowledgeable with the law and her detention was highly illegal. My only exit was to escape from her armpit where she proceeded to block and then significantly shove me. I spoke with the police officer on duty tonight at the front 2/19/2022 who had no desire to act on a physical assault and told me to speak with a manager. I was comped 1 free drink as an apology. Not to say the manager was mean but to be so casual about an employee who is a bathroom attendant to assault a customer is just beyond insane. Not to the pull this card but I am a personal injury attorney and this egregious behavior seemed ok by management. read more

Great spot that's right across the street from the beach. It's a good size and is literally a "sand" bar with sand scattered on the floor. There's a bunch of different seating options either by the bar, some lounge seats, tables and even some chairs to recline by a little fountain to get your feet wet. Service wasn't bad and they do ID at the door. I came during the day on a Saturday and we got two mojito pitchers which came out to $50 which I think was a little steep. I've had better but my expectations weren't that high. The burger sliders were good and so was the shrimp.
