What a wonderful experience! The last time I was here I was highly disappointed but this time everything went smooth. I'm wondering if it had something to do with coming on a Thursday rather than the weekend. I was called back to my appointment on time and got my service right away (gel manicure.) Most of the color examples were available for me to look through when I got there, even though the one color I wanted was out of stock (go figure) I was able to find a very similar one and was just as happy with it. The receptionists were MUCH nicer this time too. I also enjoyed that it was not super busy so it actually felt relaxing to be there. Brooklyn was so friendly, kept the conversation going, and did such a great job on my nails. She paid attention to detail and did a great polish. TLDR: Went in for self care, a gel nail polish removal and a nice manicure; left with thumping nail beds, bleeding cuticles, and feeling emotionally worse.... I'm not a big nail person, so this is an extra special treat for me. I had them done for a wedding, so I needed the gel off. I was feeling very sad already due to sad news as well & needed some special self care. The nail person who did my nails used a grinder to remove gel nail polish, and the manicure was quick and done with little effort or care. My cuticles are swollen and bleeding and my nail beds hurt. I had to drive home with my palms. I left early from dry time because my nailbeds and cuticles were thumping from pain. I'm very disappointed due to how much I felt like I was in a chop and how much more down I felt emotionally after my nails being done. The nail person said, "I like being booked, I like the money." I felt like I was dollar signs, not a person. I cried the way home. I feel like because I'm a novice, I was taken advantage of. If there isn't time, please don't book. I have been coming to Sandals since before they moved to their new building and I have never had a bad experience with them. Their website is easy to navigate for scheduling appointments, their salon is always decorated cute and for holidays and it's extremely clean!, their front desk employees are eager to help and they offer a lot more services than an average salon. The nice thing is they have a lot of techs so I recommend choosing "anyone" the first couple times if you're new to help you find one you really like. The owners are professional and extremely kind, as well as all of the massage and nail techs I have encountered. The front desk employees are always nice and offering to help too. One thing I love is the salon is kid friendly and they don't make you feel unwelcome. I started taking my daughter with me sometimes and the staff have been so nice to her. They have her choose a ring from a big case every time (ones shown on her finger in the picture) and they make her feel comfortable to be there. Sooooo, trans woman here! I was really nervous going to a new place, and after my friend got sick the day of, I had to go in alone. I was doubly nervous because this was my second time ever getting my nails/toes done. (First time in Ohio) So I had no clue on what to expect, what color I needed, and oh yeah, I had a wedding later in the day!! ILANA made me feel so at ease. We even connected on the stresses of teaching ! I never once felt unsafe or uncomfortable during my time with her/at this establishment. As someone who fears new places and just being myself in NW Ohio in general, I was completely relieved to find someone so knowledgeable, supportive, and just overall kind! So grateful for this experience! I will definitely be going back in the future! I know all of this may seem small to others, but this was very important to me.. Also, I asked for an upgrade to gel from a regular polish when I got there and that seemed like no big deal at all! Update to Owner Response: Being a loyal customer of 3 years I'm aware of how appointment confirmation process. My phone received 3 text message confirmations regarding June 17th appt. So this further proves the company does not like to take accountability. Very disappointing and further confirming the down spiral of customer satisfaction Lately I have been seeing a decline in professionalism and decorum. I have been a faithful customer for the past 3 years but as of late I'm not sure this is the best place of pamper. Most of the seasoned technicians are gone and the appointments are starting to become mishandled. I had a manicure appointment on June 17th, an appointment I made 3 weeks prior but 15 min after arrival i was informed Janessa was not able to perform my manicure. The receptionist claimed she called and left a message but I had NO RECORD of that. Last time a Mishap like this happened the older more seasoned receptionist made sure she got in contact and she left a message as well. The whole situation ruined my pamper day, my time is valuable & that definitely was NOT taken into consideration. When a manager or supervisor was requested the 2 receptionist advised NO ONE was scheduled. So it seems all management leave after 5. This place needs to do better!! read more

I was on a tight schedule while visiting family away from home. I needed my brows done and stopped in hoping for a walk in slot. There was an appointment available in just about 40 mins, but that would have been the time I needed to be somewhere else-the receptionist suggested she could check and see if Heather was able to take me right then. Within 5 mins, I was in the back, and in less than 15 mins after walking in on a Monday afternoon without an appointment, I was out the door. Today I came in to get my nails done for my bachelorette party. I paid $85 for them. I got acrylic nails with gel matte black polish and ONE finger with a design. The letters look poorly done and my nails are lumpy and not at all smoothed. They took an hour and a half to do. I was thinking of having my wedding nails done here as well as my bridal parties nails but if this is the work being sent out the door of this salon I don't think so. I booked and went here after seeing the website and the nails posted. I want to cry my nails are so horrible for what's suppose to be big one time moment in my life and now I can't book at another salon because everything is booked. I came in as a returning customer to get my acrylics filled before going on vacation. I booked three services and all of which were running late. By the time I was done I was literally in my car on the way to the airport then I noticed how bad my nails looked. I immediately called but was put on hold for several minutes. I opted to send an insta DM with pictures of the work and how bad it was so there was proof. They read it and never responded. I called again once I got home and again put and left on hold. I tried IG again that day and a week later, I literally just wanted my polish touched up and to book that appointment without a deposit. No responses. No call backs. So now I offer the warning. They are extremely hit or miss and when they mess up, they will not fix it. read more

I started coming here when I would come home to Ohio for the holidays to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure. I found Kim and come to her every time I'm home - she does a phenomenal job and is really personable and easy to talk to. She always does a wonderful job and gives the best color suggestions to fit whatever the occasion. The salon itself has a nice cozy layout. It's never too loud - I've heard it can get crowded but I always make an appointment ahead of time so I've never had a problem being seen right away. Prices are fair - better than what I'd pay for the same services in CA where I live. And I've seen other girls to get my nails done besides Kim, and have never been disappointed by the results. Was a customer for about 6 months until they moved to new location. Loved my pedicures up to that point and had no complaints. When they opened new location I went back for a full set. Prices increased drastically. First time there, the lady doing my nails was on phone yelling at someone even though my appt was already 20 mins late starting. No apology when she finally did come get me for my appt. She continued to stop to text someone repeatedly during my appt and told me about her drama. She was very rough on my nails, and they were crooked. My nails literally hurt from her filing them. Told the front desk not to book me with her for my fill. The new person did an ok job, but my nails popped off before my 2 weeks were up. Tried again with a different person. Nails lifted like crazy. Ended up with a nail fungus. My only complaint is I got powder color on my nails for the first time as I have been told they last longer than gel. I went to Sandal nail-spa. I was disappointed to be honest with you, I really had high hopes. My nail tech was super nice, but my Pedicure wasn't very good unfortunately...especially for the money. I brought my own polish, so they didn't have that expensive. I have a few complaints cost for a pedicure is pricey, plus I gave her a 10-dollar tip so on top of cost of the pedicure, it cost me almost 60 bucks (tip and pedicure) for maybe 15-20 mins of her time. She was too quick made me think I was in one of those other places around town the wham bang thank you Ma'am places! So, I search on for a decent place that gives you value for your money and make your Feet Look and Feel Good. Back to what was wrong. My tech rushed everything only to talk to her friends after my pedicure. They do not cover their bowls with plastic that sort of grossed me out. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm sure they take the proper precautions. Just an FYI for the ones that prefer covered bowls. Tech did not let my feet soak in the solution to really make my calisis soft and she spent very little time rubbing-getting calisis off. That was a huge waste sorry to say. Pedicure is supposed to let your feet soak to get your feet in shape, I believe that was included in the pedicure I paid for. Then she polished my toes with one of those toe spreaders and didn't check the sides after she was done. So, I was missing polish on a few of the sides of the toes. Very disappointed and really tired of wasting my money. I am elderly and can't do my toes myself, so I have to rely on someone else to do them. I have been coming to sandal nail spa for years and I have always been so happy with them. They are open Sundays and it has always been convenient. However, ever since they opened the new place they have been horrible. The last time I went to get a pedicure I had to wait half an hour and the woman that was supposed to do my pedicure was still not done. I finally left and called them back for another appt and they had nothing. They really didn't care or apologize. Every time my mom goes she ends up waiting 15 minutes. I ended up cancelling and finding another place to go and I've always been a regular customer. If they want to run a good business then hire more staff and let clients know if your appt is going to be 15 to 30 minutes late. I am thinking about going elsewhere from now on. read more

I sought out to find the best pedicure spot in the Toledo area. Sandals Nail Spa had decent reviews so I booked an appointment for Thursday evening after I got off work and I asked for the technician that gives the best pedicure. I received a call from Sandals Nail Spa on Wednesday asking me if I could reschedule because the best technician had called on sick, so I said ok I will be on on Friday evening. I arrived on time for my appointment anticipating this relaxing and pedicure...well I greeted and asked to pick my color. The technician Julia must have been brand new she didn't have the correct tools for toenail clipping instead she used nippers, when I asked why she didn't use toenail clippers she said she like them because they don't Crack the nail. Well the nippers don't cut a straight line! So I have crooked toenails. Now here is the best part...the leg and feet massage was terrible at best she barely rubbed the lotion in any then when went Julia went to get the hot towels for my legs she came back with towels that looked like they use them to wipe the floors...they were supposed to be white but were very, very dingey. I originally came here on a Groupon, and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was. It's modern, clean, and always bustling. Not at all what I expected. I now regularly come here for eyelash extensions. Props to Amanda and Celia for doing an awesome job and filling the awkward silence on me laying there while you glue hair to my eyelids for 40 minutes! I've came to Sandal's off and on for the last 5-6 years. The place is never beautiful or particularly clean, but the service was great. Over the last year I've noticed the cleanliness has declined, and the service has gotten worse. The techs are very young and inexperienced. Professionalism is out the window...as is the quality. I was there on 9-3 for a no chip. It took 1.5 hours to get a manicure with no-chip polish. INSANE. The nail tech had me hold two nails at a time under the light, so as to "improve quality". The polish was very thick and goopy, the surface of each nail is bumpy and uneven. By 9-6 two nails had peeled. I paid over $30 for this gel manicure. I could have called and spoke with the manager, but I feel the best thing I can do is to never return. Oh, and tell all my friends :) read more

I chose to get my nails done at Sandals based on excellent google reviews, however was very disappointed with the service I received. I was scheduled for a gel mani, and the technician cut 2 of my cuticles to the point of bleeding. In addition, she did not ask how I wanted my nails shaped and ended up cutting them into squares (my nails were rounded before and that is how prefer them to stay). My friend came with me and left with gel under her nails and uneven polish. Our nail technicians gossiped, discussed drinking, and talked negatively about other clients while we were there. Let me start by saying that the nail tech did my nails was AMAZING! She was friendly and talkative and made sure I was very happy with the outcome of my manicure. Now, for the reason I'm giving 2 stars. The customer service of management here is terrible. We went here as a bridal party and the bride booked the group several weeks ago. She was told a deposit was needed for each person that would be coming ($10 per person). We would get the deposit back if everyone showed up. The moment we got there a woman (I'm assuming the manager that day) game up to the bride and said "hey are you the one that put the deposit down?" And she said "yeah I'm the bride" the manager says "okay well one girl in your party didn't show up and didn't call 24hr ahead so you won't be getting her $10 back, another girl changed what she was getting done so you won't be getting her $10 back, and another girl is going to be than 15 minutes late so you won't be getting her $10" I understand why they have groups put deposits down, they work off commission and want to make sure their techs get paid. My problem is not that, it's the way management handled the whole day. The girl that "didn't show and didn't call" DID CALL 2 WEEKS AGO TO CANCEL. And she called again yesterday when informed of this to make sure they remembered she cancelled previously. The girl who was going to be late, called and said she was stuck in traffic (she's coming from over an hour away in Michigan) and was told by a staff member that it would be no problem. The girl who changed what she was getting was me and all I changed was from a full pedi to just a polish change because I got a spray tan and a pedi with the soaking a scrubbing would have discolored my legs. None of us were told individually that this would be a problem. The communication was awful, AND another girl changed her service from acrylic nails to just shellac yet she wasn't charged for her deposit????? So I really don't understand this policy. Also on top of this, the bride was paired with the WORST nail tech there. She took 2 hours to do a shellac mani, and had no clue the customer she had was the bride. She was sloppy and slow and they had 3 other techs come over to try and fix her crappy job. Then the same manager came over and told the bride she was scheduled for only a polish change on her toes not a full pedi. The bride at this point was very upset because her nails took so long and she was bombarded with the whole deposit situation the moment she got there and now she was told they had her scheduled for less than what she wanted. Even if they did have that right the nail tech took too long for us to stay and have her finish her feet anyways because we had to be at the rehearsal in 30 minutes. No one was apologetic for any of the inconvenience. No one cared she was getting married and this was supposed to be her day to relax and get pampered. The bride left in tears because of all of this. So management, do better. Be kinder with your explanation of why you're doing things. Make sure if you have a bridal party coming in, you don't put the bride with a bad nail tech. And be consistent with you policies. read more

Some of the techs seem experienced and professional. Some not so much. I gave them three strikes, and today was the last straw. The first time I went there I liked the atmosphere, but had a tech who took almost two hours to do a balance. Then I turned around and had to get the polish fixed two days later. The next tech I had commented at how poorly my nails were done by the last person and apologized. Yet I was charged the same amount for this new tech as I was for the experienced one...? Later on, I had an appointment cancelled last minute and when I called to reschedule they were not helpful. I then go in today for my rescheduled appointment, got there five minutes early hoping I could get in and get out. I sat there for 30 minutes before walking about. And this wasn't the first time I've made an appointment but had to wait 30 minutes or so before being seen. Like I said, some of the techs were great, and seemed to really know what they were doing. The owner is super sweet. The atmosphere was decent. But the waiting game even with an appointment, cancelling last minute, and the inexperienced tech pushed me bring my business elsewhere.
