I frantically scheduled an appointment with a nail tech at Perfection Nails with the hope that someone would save and redeem my 2 back-to-back SNS powder manicures that were chipping nonstop within 4 days apart after getting them fixed a different salon in Sandusky. I finally gave up and decided to give Perfection Nails a shot! I'm so glad that I gave it a shot! I'm typically not overly particular with my nails, but after gone to numerous nail salons while living in LA & DC, my expectations are quite high. Cheyenne was so understanding, patient and thorough with my nails after explaining to her my disbelief. She took the time to explain the condition of my nails and what products she'd be using to ensure they don't break easily, especially since I haven't used gel polish (they don't do powder/SNS products at this salon) in a while. I showed up to my appointment and was greeted right away and signed in and got into the pedicure care all within 2 minutes. The people were very friendly and the customer service was the best thing from my experience. I got my pedicure and everything looked good to the eye so I paid ($60 which is a little expensive to begin with) and left. As I got home I realized I never got any sugar scrub, calf massage, got a very minimal effort foot massage and only got lotion on the top of my foot. My calluses are still all over my feet even with the little bit of scrubbing they did. I have cracks and dry skin still everywhere you look because I never got lotion on the bottom of my feet. I then realized I had polish on my skin, toe nails they were uneven or very sharp, and cuticular skin that wasn't clipped. I am disappointed to say the least and considering I paid $60 and tipped 20% I felt like I should've gotten way more lotion, scrubbing, massage and more diligent polish. First, the positives: the atmosphere is definitely a vibe! It's cute, relaxing, and has a nice overall feel. I also appreciated that the service comes with snacks, which is a fun little touch that makes the experience feel more elevated. Most importantly, I love how my nails turned out. My nail technician did a great job, and I was very happy with the finished product. Where things got a little frustrating was with communication. I requested a basic pedicure with gel polish and a gel polish color change on my fingernails. The receptionist mentioned that she was confused about my request, which caught me off guard because I felt like I was pretty clear about what I wanted. I also didn't understand why I was charged separately for removing my previous gel polish when I was getting a gel polish change. To me, removing the old gel seems like part of the process of changing the gel color, so I would have appreciated having that explained before the service. My fiancé also got a manicure for the first time. He specifically and repeatedly requested no polish. Unfortunately, clear polish was still applied to his nails. He didn't even realize it had been put on until I noticed his nails later. That was probably the biggest communication issue for us because he had clearly expressed what he wanted. Then, when it was time to pay, there was another mix-up. Our services were incorrectly assigned between our bills. Instead of me being charged for the gel polish change on my hands, I was charged for the pedicure. His manicure and my pedicure should have been on his bill, while I should have only been charged for my gel polish change. We didn't really push the issue at the time because it felt like trying to untangle everything was only going to create more chaos. However, it is something worth mentioning because clear communication and accurate billing are important parts of the overall customer experience. Would I go back? Yes. I wouldn't write the salon off based on this experience. My nails genuinely turned out great, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and little extras like the snacks. I think there is room for improvement when it comes to communication, listening to specific requests, and making sure services are entered and billed correctly. For now, I'd personally rate my experience around a 3.4/5. The nail quality and atmosphere definitely earned points, while the communication and billing issues brought the overall experience down. I'd suggest booking an appointment rather than walking in, and make sure to confirm exactly what services you're going to receive and the pricing beforehand. It also doesn't help to see that the receipts aren't itemized specifically to show the customer what services they received with add ons (if any). The service(s) on the receipts just reads "custom."

I get there and they ask if it's okay that they move me to someone else due to overbooking Tina. I ask who and they say Becky, and I say absolutely not (I've had Becky on two other occasions and neither were pleasant). They say how about Kim and I decide to give her a try since I've never had her before. Kim was nice on approach but we did not speak during the service (which is fine, I don't need small talk). I get basic gel nails, one color, nothing fancy, and asked her to reshape my nails so they were all round. She maybe spent a total of 10 minutes on my nails. She barely filed them, they are all different lengths, and barely put any polish on my nails. There are dents, a few bubble holes, and the polish doesn't go all the way to the cuticle on a few of them. Her gel polish heat lamp thing that I had to put my hands in either had hair in it or a spider web, not really sure but either way it had not been cleaned in quite some time. It's not the worst nail job I've ever experienced, but not even close to how good Tracia normally does. I didn't complain and I still left a decent tip, but not as much as I normally would. Their scheduling is a mess and most of the nail techs aren't great, some even rude. There was a time when I showed up for a nail appt and Tracia was unexpectedly not able to be there, and they acted like "oh, well she's not here so.. you can go with Becky.." I make appointments with specific people for a reason. If for some reason that appointment is not going to be as It was made, maybe call me and let me know??

Instead of acknowledging it, she insisted it was just my eyes focusing on the contrast between colors. That response alone was frustrating, especially when the issue was clearly visible. The owner, Sarah, was brought over to fix it. She did address one side, but the other side was left uneven and still needed to be matched. Instead of completing the correction, she shifted her attention to her daughter, who also works there, and focused on doing her hair. When she returned to me, she simply said she had been working all day, was leaving, and that my cut would be complimentary. While I understand the gesture, I expressed that I didn't want a free service--I wanted my hair fixed. Unfortunately, there was no interest in making that happen. The appointment lasted five hours, and by the end of it, I was completely overwhelmed. I can have grace for a newer stylist making a mistake--what I can't overlook is the lack of accountability and professionalism. A simple acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way. What was most disappointing was the owner's response. My husband called the next day on my behalf because I was so upset, and she never returned his call. Hair trauma is real. This experience has left me anxious and honestly afraid to trust another stylist. Very disappointing overall.
