I hadn't seen my PCP, Dr. Amy Kakimoto, in over a decade, but I was so happy to find out she's…read morestill at North Coast Family Medical Group. Life happens, and I'd put off routine check-ups for far too long, but I recently decided to schedule an appointment for blood work and had a list of questions, along with a need for some advice and recommendations. Scheduling was a breeze. Their patient portal is user-friendly, and the response time was surprisingly quick. Despite my last-minute request, they managed to fit me in. In the past it would take me months to see my PCP. This was a big improvement. Everything, from lab work requests to accessing clinical notes and instructions is automated in their system, so there's no hassle. On the day of my appointment, I was pleased to find plenty of parking, even on a busy weekday afternoon, which is always a plus. The clinic looks amazing and they've clearly made major renovations. The space is bright, modern, open, and spotless, with an inviting atmosphere. The staff were professional, warm, and attentive. From the receptionists to the medical assistants, everyone made me feel welcomed. During my appointment, Dr. Kakimoto addressed all of my questions and concerns with patience and detail. Even though the visit lasted only about 30 minutes, I left feeling reassured, informed, and optimistic about my health. I also love the reminder texts and emails! So helpful especially when you have so much going on. All your clinical notes are available in their patient portal app for easy access as well as all your medical records, tests, and more. I highly recommend Dr. Amy Kakimoto and North Coast Family Medical Group to anyone looking for quality care.

OVER BILLING: Kara their billing coordinator will not take responsibility for billing issues and…read morehas alienated me over $50 because she won't fix their issue with Aetna. Aetna pays NCFMG over $500/visit and each visit I paid my PCP copay of $20. Yet the billing went through as if I saw a specialist ($45 copay) and I only saw a PA, plus North Coast doesn't have specialist they only do Primary Care. This was all because the doctors were listed incorrectly on the bill sent to Aetna. So I called Kara a few times, and I called Aetna a few times and then I put them on a conference call together, and then I followed up with Aetna several times to make sure they were fixing the issue. So after about 4 hours of my time and Kara blaming Aenta and Aetna blaming her I had to give up. And I had a final call with Kara and said there is no way I am paying the $50 because this was billed wrong, just on principal I can't and won't pay it. I can't believe I am ending a 10 year relationship with NCFMG who gets paid $500+ every time I visit over $50 I was wrongly charged for, that is brilliant customer service and a fantastic business model. Note for NCFMG if you even read these reviews: PA Noel and PA Morrison are setup incorrectly with Aetna. They had 2 profiles, one with UCSD and one without. Aetna billing uses the one without which makes them unrecognized so they bill as a specialist. So why don't you call Aetna and fix it before you have more patients leave you over erroneous billing.

I have been seeing Dr. Kadry here for 2 years. Although I am usually as healthy as a horse (are…read morethey really that healthy?) I have had to see him a total of three times. I'm paranoid about any symptoms and immediately think I have either A. cancer or B. Heart disease. Reasonable fears since both my parents died very young with those very diseases. I usually don't call a doctor unless I am panicking and needing an immediate appointment. Annoying patient I know. But they are always willing to work with me and get me in. This I like. They don't torture my hypochondriac soul by making me wait. So the reason I went yesterday is because I've been extremely dizzy for the past couple of days and am having trouble focusing my eyes and maintaining a balance. At work I looked like a pinball trying to work my way through the hallways. Well Dr. Kadry was very nice and calming because I seriously thought I was having a stroke or something. (Thank you Web MD.com) He told me most likely I have a severe inner ear problem and gave me reassurance and a prescription. That was before I stood up off the examining table and lost my balance and fell face first onto the chair in front of me. This concerned him enough to send me for more tests. He even offered to arrange a car service for me since he told me I would be unable to drive until my symptoms subsided. Really the bottom line comes to that he was patient, actually listened to me and didn't treat me like I was an irrational hypochondriac freak. Things I look for in a doctor!!! .

Small place that contracts out most of their lab work. Receptionist is very friendly and understanding when you have to reschedule your appointment. She also looks out for you and lets you know what your insurance will and won't cover. Also, she knows how to break down your services so that you won't get overcharged by insurance. Dr. Williamson is also friendly and big on nutrition if you ever feel the need to remind yourself to eat healthier. She has very good recommendations on good books and vitamins the average person should take. Overall, nice little place, but nothing exceptional. I like it because it's close to my place and they haven't don't anything rude like certain hospitals.

Very pleasant experience here. Not sure why so many negative reviews…read more Came here one day with a family member for a health issue and only waited 45min to be seen. Not too bad. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. We saw a nurse practitioner instead of a doctor and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. Did a thorough exam and provided medications for the patient. The waiting room is a bit small and could use a deep cleaning. Otherwise a good experience.

The worst urgent care experience I have ever had…read more I initially went to Access Medical Centers in Encinitas for UTI symptoms and was prescribed a 7-day course of Macrobid. My symptoms did not resolve. I continued to have leukocytes on multiple at-home urine tests and had been experiencing persistent flank/kidney-area pain for approximately three weeks. I returned because the issue was not resolving, I had a low-grade fever the day prior, aching kidney pain, and I wanted further evaluation. I specifically asked about additional testing for STIs and Candida and wanted to discuss whether my persistent flank pain could warrant evaluation for an upper urinary tract infection or another cause. While I was waiting in the exam room with the door open, I overheard the supervising physician discussing me with the NP. I heard him say that I was going to react to every "little twinge" in my body, suggest that I had an overactive bladder, speculate that maybe my pain was "from yoga," and say that I had it "set in my mind." I then heard him say that they don't treat "psychological issues" and that I should go home and "just relax." I was appalled. I previously worked in an ER while earning patient care and healthcare experience hours in preparation for applying to physician assistant school. I understand that clinicians may disagree with a patient's concerns or believe that a particular diagnosis is unlikely. That is completely different from speaking dismissively about a patient within earshot and attributing her physical symptoms to psychological issues without appropriately communicating that assessment to her, or even meeting her. After overhearing the conversation, I told the NP that the physician should not speak about patients that way, that I knew something was wrong with my body, and that I found his behavior extremely unprofessional. She apologized to me on his behalf. Women with urinary symptoms already face enough difficulty getting persistent or atypical symptoms taken seriously. If you have recurrent UTIs, interstitial cystitis, persistent urinary symptoms, or simply want your concerns addressed respectfully, I would strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

She even refused to check if I was dilated and then told me that if I go into labor this weekend I should go to the ER for treatment. Wtf? if you don't like what you do, don't practice and make other PREGNANT women's experiences miserable. The Encinitas Scrippts office was miserable as well for my doctor's visit. One nurse wasn't concerned at all about my weight drop and my husband had to ask if the baby is ok and safe. It was really a huge let down to receive such bad treatment but at 37 weeks, there's no time to switch care or do anything really. However, depending on your…read moreassigned primary provider, it can be difficult to see the same person for annual wellness visits. This makes it challenging to build a consistent relationship and can feel impersonal. In one case, a pediatrician refused to prescribe an antidepressant for my child, despite her long-term therapist recommending it after other approaches had been exhausted. We had been actively addressing her care, but her depression was worsening. The situation was framed as though I was pushing for medication, which was not accurate--I was responding to clear signs of distress and her own requests for help. The pediatrician spoke with my daughter alone for approximately five minutes and appeared to make a decision based on that brief interaction. My daughter later shared that she felt uncomfortable, unheard, and somewhat led in her responses. Her condition worsened significantly, spiraling into SEVERE DEPRESSION and SELF HARM. While the provider was kind, the approach felt dismissive of parental input. It gave the impression that a brief interaction was given more weight than the insight of those more familiar with my daughter's history.

This is now the second time I have tried calling the office and have been unable to get anyone to answer the phone. I left a voicemail, but during my previous experience, I did not receive a return call. I understand that medical offices can get very busy and staff may not always be able to answer every call immediately. However, patients should at least be able to expect that their voicemail will be returned within a reasonable amount of time, especially when they are trying to schedule an appointment or communicate with the office. I previously brought this concern to the attention of the receptionist/medical assistant, and they seemed surprised when I explained that I had difficulty reaching anyone by phone. Unfortunately, I am experiencing the same issue again. This is very inconvenient and frustrating, and I believe it deserves attention from management. A cardiology practice handles patients who may have important and sometimes time-sensitive concerns. Having a reliable way to reach the office is an important part of patient care. I hope management reviews how incoming calls and voicemails are being handled and makes improvements. I appreciate the medical care provided by the practice, but communication and accessibility also matter, and this has now become a recurring issue.

Most endocrinologist deal with people with diabetes and not complex hormones issues, go figure. It was evident to me that Dr. Weiss knows her stuff with the battery of lab tests she ordered. Some of the tests I had asked for to previous doctors and was scoffed at. One plus side is the time she spends with you, nobody has spent an hour with me before, it was usually a 15 minute glance and was told to come back in 6 months. As far as the 'membership' and fees charged up front I did not see any issues with it at all like other reviews mentioned. You get your deposit back as long as you show up, and you can opt out of the membership as long as you are aware of the fees for extra care. As a business owner I totally understand, especially with the way insurance is structured these days. Time is valuable. All in all I am extremely excited to receive care with Dr. Weiss and find more answers to things that have been plaguing me. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family.
