Access medical urgent care
Chris K.

AMAZING CARE !!!!!!!! I was feeling so sick and defeated until I went to access for my urgent care needs. Heather Moore the nurse on duty went above and beyond to make sure I left feeling 100% better and explained all my medication thoroughly. Thank you so much to the entire staff for exceeding my expectations

Life happens, and I'd put off routine check-ups for far too long, but I recently decided to schedule an appointment for blood work and had a list of questions, along with a need for some advice and recommendations. Scheduling was a breeze. Their patient portal is user-friendly, and the response time was surprisingly quick. Despite my last-minute request, they managed to fit me in. In the past it would take me months to see my PCP. This was a big improvement. Everything, from lab work requests to accessing clinical notes and instructions is automated in their system, so there's no hassle. On the day of my appointment, I was pleased to find plenty of parking, even on a busy weekday afternoon, which is always a plus. The clinic looks amazing and they've clearly made major renovations. The space is bright, modern, open, and spotless, with an inviting atmosphere. The staff were professional, warm, and attentive. From the receptionists to the medical assistants, everyone made me feel welcomed. During my appointment, Dr. Kakimoto addressed all of my questions and concerns with patience and detail. Even though the visit lasted only about 30 minutes, I left feeling reassured, informed, and optimistic about my health. I also love the reminder texts and emails! So helpful especially when you have so much going on. All your clinical notes are available in their patient portal app for easy access as well as all your medical records, tests, and more. I highly recommend Dr. Amy Kakimoto and North Coast Family Medical Group to anyone looking for quality care.

OVER BILLING: Kara their billing coordinator will not take responsibility for billing issues and…read morehas alienated me over $50 because she won't fix their issue with Aetna. Aetna pays NCFMG over $500/visit and each visit I paid my PCP copay of $20. Yet the billing went through as if I saw a specialist ($45 copay) and I only saw a PA, plus North Coast doesn't have specialist they only do Primary Care. This was all because the doctors were listed incorrectly on the bill sent to Aetna. So I called Kara a few times, and I called Aetna a few times and then I put them on a conference call together, and then I followed up with Aetna several times to make sure they were fixing the issue. So after about 4 hours of my time and Kara blaming Aenta and Aetna blaming her I had to give up. And I had a final call with Kara and said there is no way I am paying the $50 because this was billed wrong, just on principal I can't and won't pay it. I can't believe I am ending a 10 year relationship with NCFMG who gets paid $500+ every time I visit over $50 I was wrongly charged for, that is brilliant customer service and a fantastic business model. Note for NCFMG if you even read these reviews: PA Noel and PA Morrison are setup incorrectly with Aetna. They had 2 profiles, one with UCSD and one without. Aetna billing uses the one without which makes them unrecognized so they bill as a specialist. So why don't you call Aetna and fix it before you have more patients leave you over erroneous billing.

I have been seeing Dr. Kadry here for 2 years. Although I am usually as healthy as a horse (are…read morethey really that healthy?) I have had to see him a total of three times. I'm paranoid about any symptoms and immediately think I have either A. cancer or B. Heart disease. Reasonable fears since both my parents died very young with those very diseases. I usually don't call a doctor unless I am panicking and needing an immediate appointment. Annoying patient I know. But they are always willing to work with me and get me in. This I like. They don't torture my hypochondriac soul by making me wait. So the reason I went yesterday is because I've been extremely dizzy for the past couple of days and am having trouble focusing my eyes and maintaining a balance. At work I looked like a pinball trying to work my way through the hallways. Well Dr. Kadry was very nice and calming because I seriously thought I was having a stroke or something. (Thank you Web MD.com) He told me most likely I have a severe inner ear problem and gave me reassurance and a prescription. That was before I stood up off the examining table and lost my balance and fell face first onto the chair in front of me. This concerned him enough to send me for more tests. He even offered to arrange a car service for me since he told me I would be unable to drive until my symptoms subsided. Really the bottom line comes to that he was patient, actually listened to me and didn't treat me like I was an irrational hypochondriac freak. Things I look for in a doctor!!! .

She also looks out for you and lets you know what your insurance will and won't cover. Also, she knows how to break down your services so that you won't get overcharged by insurance. Dr. Williamson is also friendly and big on nutrition if you ever feel the need to remind yourself to eat healthier. She has very good recommendations on good books and vitamins the average person should take. Overall, nice little place, but nothing exceptional. I like it because it's close to my place and they haven't don't anything rude like certain hospitals.

But when it's all said and done, I truly appreciate the respect given to me and that it is his default. Everything takes *at least* 3-5 messages where you repeat the same things and there's a good chance they will still send in the prescription wrong and you'll have to start over. If I wasn't forced by my HMO to go there, I would switch in a heartbeat. Best part about changing jobs soon will be not having to deal with their shenanigans every 4-6 weeks. Instead of wasting time having people respond to every negative review on her, Scripps should hire more people for the offices or pay the people who are there more so they don't hate their jobs and they don't mind doing them.

This makes it challenging to build a consistent relationship and can feel impersonal. In one case, a pediatrician refused to prescribe an antidepressant for my child, despite her long-term therapist recommending it after other approaches had been exhausted. We had been actively addressing her care, but her depression was worsening. The situation was framed as though I was pushing for medication, which was not accurate--I was responding to clear signs of distress and her own requests for help. The pediatrician spoke with my daughter alone for approximately five minutes and appeared to make a decision based on that brief interaction. My daughter later shared that she felt uncomfortable, unheard, and somewhat led in her responses. Her condition worsened significantly, spiraling into SEVERE DEPRESSION and SELF HARM. While the provider was kind, the approach felt dismissive of parental input. It gave the impression that a brief interaction was given more weight than the insight of those more familiar with my daughter's history.

This is now the second time I have tried calling the office and have been unable to get anyone to answer the phone. I left a voicemail, but during my previous experience, I did not receive a return call. I understand that medical offices can get very busy and staff may not always be able to answer every call immediately. However, patients should at least be able to expect that their voicemail will be returned within a reasonable amount of time, especially when they are trying to schedule an appointment or communicate with the office. I previously brought this concern to the attention of the receptionist/medical assistant, and they seemed surprised when I explained that I had difficulty reaching anyone by phone. Unfortunately, I am experiencing the same issue again. This is very inconvenient and frustrating, and I believe it deserves attention from management. A cardiology practice handles patients who may have important and sometimes time-sensitive concerns. Having a reliable way to reach the office is an important part of patient care. I hope management reviews how incoming calls and voicemails are being handled and makes improvements. I appreciate the medical care provided by the practice, but communication and accessibility also matter, and this has now become a recurring issue.

Most endocrinologist deal with people with diabetes and not complex hormones issues, go figure. It was evident to me that Dr. Weiss knows her stuff with the battery of lab tests she ordered. Some of the tests I had asked for to previous doctors and was scoffed at. One plus side is the time she spends with you, nobody has spent an hour with me before, it was usually a 15 minute glance and was told to come back in 6 months. As far as the 'membership' and fees charged up front I did not see any issues with it at all like other reviews mentioned. It is extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone, and rather than feeling supported or cared for, I often feel like I am simply a number in a large system. There has been very little warmth or excitement surrounding my pregnancy, which has made an already overwhelming experience feel incredibly impersonal. I have repeatedly requested contact from my nurse or doctor and have not received the follow-up or communication I expected. I have been left in tears on numerous occasions during what should be one of the most exciting and meaningful times of my life. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that first-time mothers consider a smaller or private OB-GYN practice where they may receive more personalized care, consistent communication, and emotional support.

Detailed Message for Expecting Moms or those that plan to use Scripps for delivery.... BEWARE -…read moreNIGHTMARE DISABILITY I want to say that I love my doctor, Tricia Rambur. I have seen her for years and she has helped support me while I underwent fertility treatments outside the facility at RPSD. Choosing Dr. Rambur was a natural decision for me when I became pregnant and was excited, she was there to support me along the way. What I must warn about is the Scripps policy after birth in support of disability is TERIBBLE. After speaking with the supervisor this is still not resolved. State disability for mothers is done online and can be submitted through an online portal. You do your best to stay on top of it but there is paperwork that can only be submitted once you go into labor or have the baby. Not prior. I had a c section. Thai had to be confirmed by my doctor with details on when I could return to work. Scripps Coastal refuses to fill out any paperwork through the portal that the state needs. This is a new policy that they started in 2024. This makes your disability filing take 3x the amount of time. They are not sympathetic. I am technically done with leave and STILL waiting on Scripps to correctly fill out the forms and send into the state, when logging in can take 15min. It is true EDD is a nightmare but why are we slowing down the process and making it harder for moms. My disability started in December ON the 28th and I filed in February on the 2nd. All required paperwork the state needed from my doctor took weeks to complete. The staff supervisor requires one - two weeks to complete this paper and send out. Snail mail. This is ridiculous. The state prefers doctors to use the portal as the process alone is lengthy but helps along the claim. The supervisors at Scripps will lie to you and tell the doctors said they wanted to opt out but this is a lie as both my doctor and young customer service agent confirmed. It's just a practice policy. And this is for all Scripps centers. As a mom you should be aware of this as most depend on this money to help. It is April and I still am waiting on Scripps. This is sad. Their billing department has no sympathy for my bills I owe from labor and delivery which is ironic given the situation. So take this into consideration when you choose Scripps to deliver if you plan to file for disability money. Think twice before you deliver here. They are living in the past. Doctors wonderful. Admin = terrible.
