Sammy's Camera in East Pasadena on Colorado Boulevard has a great reputation for price and advice. They deal with all things camera and video, as well as studio setup, lighting and sound. They have never disappointed me when I needed something. Their location is between Allen Avenue and Pasadena City college. When I was there, there was a diverse clientele. You are greeted immediately upon opening the door in the back by the parking lot. I was able to walk around and look to see what items were in the store. They have a very diverse selection. From office to professional photographer or videographer. After looking at a number of bags and carrying cases I decided to find out more information about lighting. I was interested in trying to find a pocket sized light for photography with my phone. I walked to the counter and was greeted with a friendly smile. When I queried the associate about what was available I was given a number of selections. Some were too big and some a different setup that was not available on my phone. I was shown two items to compare that were in my price range and satisfied my lighting needs. I was not pressed in any way to purchase any of the items. That's not often the case in other camera shops. There were plenty of associates available behind counters as well as walking the floor. As I left the parking lot was busy. They also have parking on the side street nearby. They are open every day except Sunday. If you have camera video accessory needs this is definitely the place to go.

This place is amazing I have a canon t8i and everytime I walk in I am greeted by the staff and when I need something they have it in stock will definitely continue to do my business here at Samys camera for future needs and will recommend people here

I came in the other day to buy an attachment for my Canon flash so I can shoot off the mount and Brian and Stephanie were incredible with their help. I had some other questions about my Canon flash and they were so patient in going over some more things with detail as we did a little deep dive with off mount shooting. I was so incredibly grateful for their help and just how they handled everything. I never feel rushed, I always feel really taken care of at Samy's Thank you so very much

Boy I had made a mistake. The kind that I typically make fun of other less fortunate photogs. I had charged my battery before I left for this trip. I was only going to shoot for a few hours and thus did not bring my whole kit with me. Was setting up my gear the day before and apparently I had not charged the battery. The Z9 I shoot with precludes just heading to Target and getting something. I needed a store like Samy's to save the outing They had the charger I needed and after a bit of a drive, I was back in business. Service was top notch and while I would have loved to spend hours poking around the store I was in and out fast. Thank you Samy's

Samy's Camera is a camera store in Southern California with four locations in Los Angeles (close to Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Pasadena, Playa Vista, and Santa Ana. I didn't realize specialty camera shops like this still exist especially with the widespread use of iPhone and Android cameras. [Parking]: There's easy and free street parking available, but they also have free parking behind the store. [Services]: Camera sales, video Sales, photo classes, and camera rentals. Heck they even sell collectible cameras/lenses/accessories. [Visit]: I came here to purchase a portfolio binder and found a solid selection. Prices were also not far off from Amazon. I had to return to the store because the binder size wasn't right, but the exchange process was smooth and hassle-free. The staff was helpful and friendly. [Conclusion]: This is definitely the shop to check out for camera enthusiasts and I am bumping the rating up to 5-star due to friendly service.

I came here looking for some film camera equipment and some 35mm film. The workers were very friendly and knowledgeable on their film stocks. They had a wide selection of film stocks including the popular portra 400s and fuji C200s. I ended up getting a 3 pack of fuji 400s for a decent price. This place apparently also does film developing for a reasonable price too based on what they showed me on their website. I look forward to trying their developing and scanning later on.

Update: 5 Stars! The issue below was handled so professionally and I truly appreciate the length Jason went to, to make sure I left a happy customer. Thank you again, Jason! Let me start with the fact that I have loved Samy's for a long time, recommending them to anyone who asked me what my favorite camera store is in LA. The selection and knowledgeable staff are great, so it was a real surprise when I recently got a roll of film developed and received the worst quality scans I've ever gotten back from a lab. I paid $25 a roll for development and the highest resolution TIF scans and what I got back was quite frankly unacceptable for the price. Every scan was blurry, and about half of them had a lot of dust on the negatives when they were scanned. I know it's not my fault due to focusing issues, for example the landscape photo I've added here was shot with an infinite focal length. The sky has a lot of blotchy digital artifacts, you can see the dust that was scanned and how blurry the shot is overall. (Also shown is the photo zoomed in to 100%) It's also disheartening to see other people having the same issue here on other Yelp reviews. When I dropped off the film, the guy asked me if I wanted to keep my negatives, initially I said no and then he asked "Are you sure?" which swayed me to keep them. I'll just say that I'm glad I kept the negatives because I feel like I paid $75 for my 3 rolls of film only to have to scan them again myself.

Fire one to Jim !

I had a serious audio problem with a Sony video recording. I called B/H and a few others. They were perplexed. Yesterday I called JIM in video at Samy's Pasadena. After listening to the details of my situation, he solved the audio problem, knowing the camera and wireless system I have. (both Sony) Not only does Jim have vast knowledge, he knows how to listen patiently and provided an extremely accurate diagnosis. Samy's, you are very fortunate to have Jim on your staff. Jim, thank you again !!!

I was looking for a Canon G7x for retail price because I did not want to pay 1.5k on Amazon and I am aware that the g7x is super hard to get but they had it! 12/13/25 I got the last one and the workers were super nice and helpful.

Experienced. Professional. Kind and Reasonable…read more You can't ask for more. While recently out of town on a job, my Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 fell from its tripod--a true nightmare scenario. While the camera turned on after the tumble, a small panel connecting the LCD to the camera body protruded out, making it impossible to close the screen. I was also unsure if there were any larger problems with the camera. The next morning, I called Ohannes at Digitech and explained my situation. When I told him I was out of town, he very kindly agreed to take a look at a few pictures of the problem via email. He quickly replied with a comforting message, let me know the plate was just out of position, not damaged and quoted a reasonable price for the repair. When I got back into town, I dropped off the camera and had a wonderful experience speaking to Ohannes in person. A few days later, I booked a job last minute. Panicked, I emailed to ask if there would be any way to pick up the camera early. Ohannes didn't hesitate and had it ready for me the next day. I had another great interaction with Ohannes when picking up the camera. He let me know the repairs he performed, what to look out for, and even gave recommendations for a new tripod. All in all, I got the best luck out of a bad luck situation. I genuinely hope I don't need many camera repairs in the future, but I take great comfort in knowing that Digitech is there if my luck takes a turn again.

I had a very disappointing experience here…read more I brought in two rolls of 35mm film simply to have them developed (no scans or prints, as I have my own scanner at home). When I was told they don't offer "develop only," I said "that's a shame, no problem" and began to leave. Instead of ending the interaction there, the owner questioned why it was "a shame" and began explaining that there's "no money" in just developing film and that it's not worth it for him. He implied that I wasn't bringing enough business and suggested I should just learn to develop film myself. When I mentioned I already know how but don't have the equipment at home, he continued asking what lab I usually go to and what scanner I use, then laughed at my setup. At that point the conversation felt condescending and unnecessary. I was not upset that he doesn't offer develop-only services -- that's his right. What upset me was being made to feel like I was doing something wrong simply by requesting a service and being willing to pay for it. After the exchange escalated, he then offered to do the developing anyway, and eventually even said he would do it for free. By that point, the interaction had already become uncomfortable and argumentative, and I no longer felt confident giving him my business. A simple "we don't offer that service" would have been perfectly fine. Instead, the interaction became unprofessional and dismissive. I cannot recommend this shop based on how customers are treated. Also check out the response the owner Rick gave to my review on Google on the image attached. His response tells us far more about him as a person. 1. "We do not offer Dev. only and our website reflects that." This is deflection. My review already acknowledged that it's his right not to offer that service. That was never the core complaint. He's reframing the issue into something easier to defend -- policy -- instead of behavior. That's a classic move when someone doesn't want to address tone or conduct. 2. "Established 1998... devotion and love of photography..." That's credential shielding. When someone leans on years in business or passion as a defense, it usually means they don't want to examine how they handled a specific interaction. Longevity good customer service. 3. "The rest of your review is just a personal rant..." That's the tell. He didn't: Acknowledge my experience Apologize for any misunderstanding Say he's sorry I felt uncomfortable Clarify his intent Offer to make it right He labeled my review as emotional and dismissed it. That's ego protection. What this tells me about him * He takes criticism personally * He reacts defensively * He reframes instead of reflecting * He likely believes he did nothing wrong * He prioritizes being right over being relational Zero accountability in that response. A business owner with strong emotional intelligence would say something like: "I'm sorry the interaction came across that way. That was not my intention. While we don't offer develop-only services, I regret that the conversation felt uncomfortable." That would have neutralized everything. Instead, he escalated by calling it a rant. "because of a short, first time interaction". In business, first impressions are everything Mr. Rafik Keshishi.

Most of the other locations do not have staff around, but maybe since this location is at the mall, they had one staff member maintaining the store, but didn't really interact much with the guests. For anyone unfamiliar, Life4Cuts is a photobooth store where you can come and take photobooth photos. It's mostly self served. This location has booths: pink, purple and blue. They had their props more organized than other locations since there is a staff on site, but there wasn't any props that my niece and I wanted to use. So my niece has been on the prowl for a labubu and I managed to snatch one up for her, so we had an unboxing and then took her new lababu to take a photobooth pic. She got the secret one from the Have A Seat collection, DuoDuo. Super stoked LOL. So anyways, we went the pink booth since the purple one was taken. The pink does not show up well in pictures so in the future I would probably go with purple or blue. You can get 2 long strips for $8 or a 1x4 strip and a 2x2 for $10. The booth had a decent amount of frames to choose from. There is an option for a QR code to provide a digital copy of the photobooth pics. Luckily there was a retake option at the end since we weren't in love with our first batch of photos. The second time turned out great and the system allowed for us to select which 4 out of 8 we wanted. My niece and I love photobooths so we really enjoy these opportunities. Another one for the memories!
