It was 2004. I was just getting into Photography at East L.A. College and was using an old Pentax ME Super. It was falling apart and the shutter sound was off, pictures looked muddy and dirty. I took the camera here for service and a day later, it was a completely functioning camera again, brought back to life by Phong. 22 years later and the camera is still working just fine. I go back here every so often just to say hello, even if i'm not there to purchase anything, Phong makes it a joy to chat and browse his stock. I absolutely love it here, and reccommend this place to Pros and Beginners alike. Never change, Phong! read more

I came in with the worry that I busted my Olympus OM-2 and Fong wiped away any worries I had! He was able to fix what needed to be fixed in like 3 minutes. He was very nice and attentive, couldn't ask for better service. I will definitely be coming back if I have any problems and when I'm on the hunt for new lenses. He's got a customer for life in me. read more

The person that owns it so nice and helpful. I took my Canon A1 because it was showing Es in the viewfinder and was scared it would cost a lot to fix it. However, he took a look at it and adjusted it without charging me because it was a silly error. Great selection of used classic film cameras and gear. Highly recommend this shop read more

The owner here is an honest man who won't overcharge or lead you to buying something you don't need. I came in thinking I had to buy another point and shoot and it was just a loading error on my part. Guy didn't charge me at all. read more

Thank you Phong. Love Canada Camera! I've been coming here for years to get my cameras repaired and I'll keep coming back for many more. I used to drive from Riverside just to go here for their camera selection/camera repairs and to this day I still commit to the drive from North Hollywood. Crazy? Maybe. But worth it? Always :) Amazing service, friendly atmosphere, and the owner is super knowledgeable about all things camera and photography. Whether you want to buy a camera or repair a camera, this is the place to go. Both of my Nikons, my Canon, and my favorite lens can attest to the quality of care here :) read more

Mr. Phuong resurrected my father's Fujica ST605N light meter works. He made this old camera a second life. The legacy of my father's love of photography carries on. Thank you very much, Mr. Phuong. read more

Mr. Phuong is a camera expert. I got some sand in my Ricoh GR II and brought it in once the lens cover stopped working. He was not excited about fixing it, saying that sand is the worst thing for cameras, and initially said it would take too long . But after some chatting over street photography, he offered to repair it for a reasonable price and would get it back to me in 3 weeks. Sure enough, 3 weeks later it was repaired, although it took some follow up on my part. It's been over a month since the repair and it works beautifully. Thanks Mr. Phuong, I continue to sing your praises! read more

This was my first time visiting a store for camera repair, and I cannot recommend this place enough! I brought in my Sony A7iii as there were several black spots in my videos after trying to clean my lens and sensor on my own. Phong fixed the issue within minutes! A gem for any analog photographer in the city! I brought my Hasselblad into Canada Camera Service today with a stuck lens that I was worried might be a serious issue. Within minutes of walking in, Phong -- the owner and main tech wizard -- greeted me with genuine warmth and a reassuring smile. This guy knows his stuff. Not only did he quickly diagnose the problem (apparently a more common issue than I realized), but he also had it fixed in just a few minutes. I was honestly blown away by how smooth and confident he was with such a delicate piece of gear. And here's the part that really sets Phong apart: despite my attempts to pay -- multiple times -- he refused. Just shrugged it off with kindness and a smile. In this day and age, that kind of generosity and integrity is rare. Whether you're a pro with a camera worth more than your car, or just need help with a simple fix, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend Canada Camera Service. Phong is the real deal. read more

What a marvelous place. And my Leica M4-P was restored to perfect working condition by Mr. Phong!

They were closed during business hours. Maybe they're great but I won't be driving across town again to find out. EDIT: The store's team is pretty nice as evidenced below, so I'm updating my review despite not being able to t actually go in the store when I visited. read more

Phong is THEEE GOAT!! I had broken my Nikon D3500's LCD screen, I honestly thought it would be a nearly"import fix due to the various assessments I was recovering by other repair shops. I turned to Phong for help on fixing this issue, and he was able ti assess the damage and give me a very, very reasonable estimate/final price for the repair! While he fixed my Nikon, I decided to purchase a Canon AE-1 from him (in mint condition). He is an honest vendor and provides the best prices, when compared to online resellers!!!! He's very generous as well, depending on what you buy and spend, he will make sure you are hooked up for all your photography needs read more

I would first like to say that this was my first ever time coming here for anything. And please read the whole review. So there's a story about how I found out about Mr. Phong. At the bargain camera show I bought a Leica M2 for a good amount of money. Now while I was looking at the camera the seller at the show kept telling me it was CLA'd by someone local about 3 months ago.. so I end up buying it and take it home and put 2 rolls through it. Turns out the higher speeds weren't showing any exposure. So I message the seller and he told me that he never guaranteed the camera would work and all sales are final. Basically he lied and deceived me thinking it was working. So then the seller he will give the number for the person who CLA'd it and it was Mr. Phong. I call Mr. Phong and tell him the situation and he informs me that he hasn't worked on a M2 in a while and the seller lied to me and that I should ask him for a refund because if I bring the camera to him he will have to charge me and that's not fair because I thought it was working. Then Mr Phong told me if the guy doesn't give me a refund just bring the camera to him and he'll help me out because that guy is screwing me. I try to get a refund from the seller but if course he says no and all these other excuses and said he will txt me the receipt for the CLA. He never emailed me anything. So few days later I give up on the refund and take the camera to Mr Phong and I ask him if he remembers taking to me about my situation, he said yes. I hand him the camera and he immediately said yeah..I would never give a customer a camera like this if I CLA'd it. Then he tells me that the camera was likely never worked on. He then offers to help me out because of what was happening to me and offered me a "special price". He said it will take him 4ish days to complete the CLA for me and he would call me when it's ready. 2 days later he calls me and tells me that the camera is ready. So I go pick it up and it works so smoothly and all issues are resolved and I can't believe it! I get excited and start to leave without paying!! Ahhh but of course I pay and thank him for all he's done for me and that I would never forget such a kindness and if I ever need a camera fixed that he gonna be my first visit. He didn't have to help me out but he did and I greatly appreciate it. Thanks Mr Phong! read more

Phong is THE camera guy! Highly recommend to all my friends- photography beginners to professionals. Reliable, honest, and he knows cameras inside out. I started going to Phong's camera shop when I was 15 years old and 18 years later, I am still a loyal customer. He fixes all my cameras- medium format, large format, analog, digital, and yes, he even fixed my first 35mm camera when I started photography 18 years ago. Most recently I purchased a beautiful polaroid camera from Phong and he simultaneously fixed my Canon digital lens with the quickest turn around in town! I hate to write a bad review: I left my Nikon D5300 with the owner 7 months ago and he still haven't finish fixing it. It's getting to the point for me to wonder if he lost or damaged my camera more? He keep saying he will call me when it is fixed.. Updated Review: The owner told me to come in the store. 5 star service. I brought a lens in to get tighten. It works like new again! thank you!

I've been to many camera shops before, and there was a local shop that I go to in Anahiem that does a pretty good job on repairing my cameras. However I have to say this spot does a great job as well. Owner is a friendly guy, and is very knowledgable on the equipment and has an idea of what is wrong with the camera you want to repair. He also has cameras to sell, and I've bought a few products from him. Pricing is very fair, and the amount of work he puts in is very much worth it! Personally I believe there is value in taking in equipment to have it fixed up as opposed to buying new equipment leaving the old in the dust bin. I've taken my equipment to him for servicing many times, and they're pretty much new at this point. If we're talking about logistics, since I work in and out of LA his shop is usually on the way to work and on the way home which is very convenient on my end. Highly recommend photographers to come out to him for repairs. read more

My Minolta x700 shutter counter was broken. Best prices and worth the drive (coming from North Hollywood). Extremely quick turn around time for the repair. Fung was great knowledgeable and had a great selection of 35mm cameras within my price range.

I had brought my lens due to my auto focus not working the owner told me it was a 2 day turn around . After looking at my lens he said he needed another week , i told him no worries. He originally told me $200 to repair. After a week i had called to check on the status , he told me he needed more time . For the price he had given i was willing to wait. After another week he stopped taking my calls , i had called 15x before he had answered. when he did he explained he could not fix it but he had the same lens he could sale me for $1000 . The way he had explained it was the lens i had brought was not able to be fixed with out spending $2K . So i agreed to pay the $1000 for his lens . 3 months later the ring popped off while connected to my camera. When i brought it to my new repair shop in upland , he had shown me how the last shop used short thin screws and they had completely stripped the threads and thats why it had popped off so easily. Save your money and look else where for your camera or lens repair needs. Love supporting small businesses and i hate that i feel SCAMMED by this shop. read more
