Truth be told....I write this with a bit of a tear in my eye....not to get too melodramatic over a yelp review....but pictures...when done perfect and if your in a particular sentimental mood....can have that effect. Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. This review is wayyy overdue! I came here about 8 years ago to take pics of my son, and ALL of the photos were so amazing!! Btw, I really love all the backdrops and props here-there's so many cute things to choose from! I've been at photo studios where they charge so much for ZERO props and just a boring white background. Now, I know some people like that simple look (which they can offer here, too), but for me, I want my photos to be more unique! Anyways, we came back more recently to take photos of our other child, and DOG! I love how dogs can take photos here, too. Michelle does a superb job of making sure everyone looks good. In fact, the first time my 2 year old came, she wasn't being cooperative at all, so Michelle suggested we come back (but we did manage to get some good photos in the first time). The second time, my toddler was MUCH better!!!! Thank you Michelle for being so patient with us!!!! I know other studios wouldn't care and would just want to take photos and get everything over with, but Michelle wanted to make sure everything would look great, and they did! I didn't realize the shop closes at 2 PM on Saturdays but she went out of her way to fit me into her schedule which I truly appreciated. Photographer is very experienced and patient and knows how to arrange groups in ideal poses. She had many tricks to keep our baby interested and looking at the camera. My husband and I went to Michelle this year for our Christmas Pictures! Her studio is very elegant and has many different backdrops! She is super sweet and has very high energy when taking your pictures and really knows how to get your best angles! She has many different packages and pricing based on the amount of poses and photos you want! We found it very much fit our needs and budget! SHE DID IT AGAIN, after 9 years later. Now Michelle is taking my son's 1st photo for his bday. She was able to squeeze my son in last minute into her busy schedule to do his photoshoot. Mind you, it was the week before Labor Day weekend. Such the greatest experience and Michelle was the greatest and she's so funny. She was able to capture so many beautiful photos of him. The hardest part was to choose which one we liked the most because my husband and I, are so obsessed with all of the photos. As you can read in my previous 5 star reviews....Michelle is an artist with a magician touch...those who know my hyper kinetic 4 year old Daniel, wouldn't recognize him in a still position....but somehow every year Michelle catches lightning in a bottle. This year she had the added task of a grandparents pic...directing a 100 mph 4 year old and 10 mph 80 year Olds is a difficult task that Michelle handled with ease. Scheduled a family photo shoot for 9 adults, 7 kids & was told they could accommodate our large family. While at our appointment, it didn't feel much of an accommodating space. We got the largest package available that comes with pdf downloads. This was back in January & our pictures just got picked up yesterday March 6th. I definitely understand other things come into play when needing to print & etcetera but we are STILL waiting for the pdf downloads. You would think that at least would be given same time as pictures were picked up but it's been a whole new day & still waiting. The printed version came out great however the overall experience was not worth pricing in my opinion. Studio was small & only one worker so the shoot took longer than we expected, poses for larger families was limited because of the space, a lot of money spent for just a few pictures & still having to wait for pdfs. Worker was professional but the experience and space is probably only suitable for small groups. read more

I decided to get my passport photo done today on the spur of the moment. The place I had planned to use was closed, so I did a little more searching online and found a place even closer, Imagix. I fully expected it to be like getting your picture taken for your membership card at Costco. Stand up against a wall, smile, flash, and you're done. I should have realized I was wrong when I called to ask if they do passport photos, and after I was told yes, I was then told to wear something dark. Michelle (I see from the other reviews her name) took her time. Even applied makeup to my eyebrows, saying that the flash would make them washed out. This service is way far and above what I would expect from just getting a passport photo. I highly recommend Imagix Photo Studio in Artesia. Wow, my experience was amazing, quick and easy all thanks to Michelle! I have an emergency trip I am going on so I needed to get my passport photos taken as soon as possible. I literally called today and she said she was available within the next hour/2 hours. I got ready so quick and headed over!
