I don't even like seafood and think this is the best sushi place in town. They make such wonderful rolls and I love how it's a family owned. The husband and wife are extremely nice. I came in for lunch and had a bowl of ramen and when I got the bill I realized I didn't have my wallet. They were more than understanding let me go down the street to my bank to grab cash. The ramen was so great and such a big serving I ended up packing some to go. I offered my leftovers to my roommate and later got a text from her wondering where I got such a delicious soup from and is determined to learn how to make such a rich broth. I ordered the chicken ramen which had carrots, green onions, and an egg. It's the broth that got me though, it was so good. The way it was milky looking I can only assume the bones were boiled for a while to make such a rich broth also it had just enough oil to it. I got a spicy tuna roll (remember I don't do seafood) just to taste it out and it was great, now I just need to learn to handle my spicyness. I have tried bites off of friends rolls that were fried or special rolls and liked them all. I can't wait to try another one but more especially get another bowl of that delicious ramen. read more

I was having a bad day so my boyfriend treated me to Samurai Roll because it's one of my favorite places. But this time was different. Samurai Roll has always been good in the past, with the owner walking around asking everyone how they are. Sometimes they give out free samples of new rolls, and he always comes out whenever anyone orders sake bombs! haha I got a Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll (I believe that's what it was) and the Baked TNT Roll. OMG. SO GOOD. Seriously the best rolls I've ever had. I don't know if it was a new chef or what, but they were better than all the great ones I've had before. If I could give more stars I would! I'm a pretty shy person, but I made a point of walking up to the man who made my rolls and told him that they were excellent. Seriously, this place is awesome. Very reasonable prices too. They do take out, but eating in is a much warmer, more fun option IMO. Some suggestions are: Baked TNT Roll, Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll, Monkey Balls (sounds interesting, I know, but they are VERY tasty), The Volcano one, and the 3 Amigos was good, but very spicy. I ordered the Samuri roll and it was only okay. I'm not even entirely sure what was in it. The salmon was decent but not super fresh. Where to start. Menu was very dirty. I don't think they have been cleaned in a while. I was afraid to order sushi or a roll so I stuck with cooked food and ordered the Udon Soup. It was very bland and the veggies where a mess, I mean they were chopped hap hazard and some had brown spots. The noodles tasted like they came from a store bought bag like Chikara microwavable Udon. Samurai Sushi was excellent. I went in for dinner by myself and sat at the counter. I was immediately greeted and my drink order was taken. I had taco and hamachi nigiri and it was excellent. The spider roll was amazing as well. I also had the Hawaiian Poke Salad, it was pretty good. The tuna was fresh and tasty but the price was a little surprising for the Poke salad. The rolls and appetizers are good eats. Everyone is very friendly. We've had a lot of the hand rolls and special rolls. We just got back from there today, we had their specials (six slightly smaller than usual pieces) and one specialty roll. The specials are listed on the wall and they are 6 bucks each. A great deal! We got the calamari roll, a California roll with huge thick pieces of fried calamari. We also had the Kiss of Fire roll which lived up to its name, thing was HOT. It had spicy tuna on the inside seaweed and tempura on the outside and a great spice sauce.Hot but delicious. Then we had the three amigos roll, spicy tuna, avocado, jalapeno and cream cheese all deep fried in tempura. This one was a tiny bit disappointing because it didn't look deep fried in the picture at all. Even though it was different than pictured, it was still very good as well. We were also given soup and edamame without asking for it (for free). It was a nice way to start to the meal. We keep on going back and haven't been let down yet. We took off one star for the ridiculous "all you can eat" rules. For instance you will be charged for any part of a roll you don't finish. So if you pay the all you can eat price (27 bucks) eat 7 rolls but leave half of the 8th roll. You still get charged separately for that roll. But get this...they wont let you take it home after you've been charged for it. Seems pretty nuts to us. We've never tried the all you can eat because we never eat very much anyway, but if we ever were interested the crazy rules would have really scared us away from this place. Stick with the specials they have listed on the wall. It's an amazing value for some great fresh sushi! read more

I'd give this place a negative 5 if possible. Our experience here was simply awful, a small serving of hamachi sashimi was $18 dollars, and this was just the beginning of the worst of it. The best times when I lived in Paso Robles was at Samurai Sushi and Roll. Never a dull or disappointing time!!! The food is fantastic and made to order. I would come in here during lunch hours with co-workers or for dinner with my crazy neighbors and/or co-workers. The service is fantastic (even when my friends are wild) and the owners are patient, helpful, and extremely fun to be around. The food: ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!!! Yes sir! Four rolls for me and I am out cold! Best deal if you really love sushi and want to try more than one. All the sushi rolls are tasty, especially the fried tempuras! I really like the Three Amigo, Rainbow, Kiss of Fire, Monkey Ball, but my favorite is the Wasabi Special and Hawaiian Volcano Fire!!! If I do not want sushi for some bizarre reason, they also have Korean food like bi bim bap, teriyaki bowls, and delicious and hot soups for an excellent price!!! I've been addicted to this place lately. I can't say its the best sushi I've ever had, but its a good value, and its at least as good as anything else in Paso. Its also located in a convenient strip mall instead of busy downtown, which is a plus in my book! The all you can eat lunch special is awesome. $24.95 for any roll on the menu! The owner and staff are really friendly, and always make you feel at home. The only negative I would have is that most (all?) of their baked rolls have Mustard on them. WTF?!? We found this place here on Yelp and we are glad we did. The sashimi & rolls are very delicious. The albacore and salmon melt in your mouth. The jalapeño popper appetizers are probably the best I've had at any sushi joint. The owner is super friendly and makes us feel right at home. It's only three minutes from our new home and Paso Robles so this will be our new go to for sure. read more

The service was horrible. We couldn't get a refill on our water. The one sushi roll we ordered was horrible and we had to wait over 30 minutes for it. The fish was grainy and over processed and the rice was soggy. The guy who made our roll had zero interactions with us and had us order from the waitress who stuck her dirty hand into our edamame accidentally as she dropped it off. We will NEVER be back. I eat sushi about 3 times a month. I've been eating sushi for many years. I've eaten sushi all over the US and in a few different countries. Today was the first sushi restaurant I've been to where I had bad sushi. I'm ok with bad service from time to time or even bad sushi from Safeway or something. That's expected. But this?!? It's like they didn't care at all. I think that since there's no competition in town they can get away with. Also, when two people are sitting at a table, you shouldn't have to wait till after your buddy gets three of his roles and eats a whole one before you see one of yours. The bathroom was disgusting. There was urine all over the floor. The local girl wearing the nasty jean shorts with holes in them was nice and that's the only reason the place got one star. She kept apologizing. I spent $21 for two bad rolls, chosen from a very poor menu. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place at all costs. Your stomach and your wallet will thank you. Harsh, but it's the truth. read more

Stopped for dinner. We stopped in Paso Robles before on the way through and it has been a problem to find a good place to eat. This time I researched and found Samurai Sushi. The sushi was good and the service fast and friendly. Could not beat my two favorite places but a good place to stop. We came on 46 from Central Valley and turned left to go on Golden Hill blvd, turned right onto Crest Ave and immediately right into that shopping area. A bit out of the way but in the past I was circling around in Paso Robles to find a place to eat and spent more time. Okay, I'm spoiled. I'm from Seal Beach in the OC. I've been eating at primo sushi bars that go to the docks every morning. Fresh off the boat stuff. I must admit I was a little dubious about finding good sashimi in Paso Robles, but my buddy said it's just like home (he grew up in the same neighborhood I did). Regardless, I have tried dozens of the best SoCal has to offer from Oceanside to Hollywood and all parts between. I believe I know my fish, lol! So we head to Samurai. Laid back, cool vibe, fun. Turns out the boss grew up a few blocks from my hometown! The party was ON! :D The fish was excellent! I'm not a rice and roll person really. I did try the Oishi roll. Yummy! The Hamachi, Ono, Maguru, Oysters Half Shell were all fresh and tasty. Big pieces too! I ordered the Uni and the Itamae inspected it and said it was not up to his standard. Many places would have served it anyway. This man took pride in his cuts! The service was friendly, prompt, and banter among patrons was not at all discouraged. A quiet corner table for a date, or shorts and flip flops at the bar. No problem! I've been back twice, and I got the same experience. Kanpai!!! They deliver too! read more
