Welcome to the club! I've come to this Sam's Club location several times in the last month or so. There is ample parking available every time I arrive. The gas price is super cheap compared to other gas stations and I've never had to wait in long lines like you typically do at Costco. Once you have the app, the check out process is super convenient and removes the need for check out lines. I come here regularly for lunch. Ordering ahead on the app cuts the wait time down. $1.50 for a hot dog and soda, $1.99 for a slice of pizza, $1 pretzels, $1 frozen yogurt. Won't let you order from the cafe unless you're a member, this is new to me. They also don't prioritize customer service, as everything is digital and via the app, took me 10 minutes to even get helped by another customer, as he saw my confusion, and told me how to order. My first return with Sam's Club was... interesting. It's the holiday season (December), and there was only one person working the customer service desk. Naturally, I couldn't help but compare it to Costco, where multiple staff usually keep the line moving quickly. As a former retail manager, this is a critical time of year -- staffing should be strong, not stretched thin. Instead, a line of customers waited while a single associate helped everyone. The actual return process was simple enough. She scanned the barcode from my digital receipt in the app, and I didn't need to sign anything. Quick and easy. But the next morning, I noticed something was off. The item I returned was $22.98, yet my refund email showed $18.47. I'm not sure how that math works. Now I have to make another trip back to the store and wait in line again just to get the correct amount refunded. A super neat experience at this Sam's Club! We paid through the app and walked through no problem. Got everything I need as per usual from cleaning, laundry, snacks.. even fresh flowers all in one place. It's organized and the employees are super helpful. Big store with everything you could possibly want & need, plus cheaper gas for your vehicle. Very well stocked & constantly cleaned. The food court, however, needs improvement. We ordered a pizza & did not receive a text saying it was ready & we had to ask a few times about when it would be ready. We waited nearly an hour! Also, in order to pay for items, you have to pay through an app! Nobody was showing confused customers what to do & it caused a long line trying to leave the store! Im so excited to have a Sam's Club super close by and it is super convenient! Ive been waiting for years and its finally here. Not sure if anyone ever noticed but Sam's club was on tempe marketplace's map I want to say 4 or 5 years ago! When I first moved to mesa I anticpated the day for it to finally be built. Gas prices here are phenomenal. Take advantage of the deals currently to get a Sam's Club membership. Went on grand opening day August 7th. It was super busy but there were employees ready and willing to help make sure you are logged into the app to scan your items in. There are no registers at this Sam's. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is done on your Sam's Club App. You pay on the app as well. Can't get signal? No worries there is wifi to connect to. Whew! Wow..... I have to say this Sam's Club definitely is on a higher level then the other local ones! First REGISTER-FREE store they have you use the App or have representatives up front to help you. If you like register service do not come here. My dad is 76 and said he is not coming here without me. It is huge but what I like best is the local items it sells and some of the higher end brand names like Hoka! I never seen these at other stores. read more

I am a life long Costco member but I was tempted to try a Sam's Club membership because the digital option was only $15 during their Black Friday sale. This Sam's Club at Tempe Marketplace is all Scan and Go for regular purchases and fuel. However, I did use my HSA card at the pharmacy. The newer location has a nice layout and to my surprise there were even robot floor cleaners working throughout the store. Overall there were a few items avaliable at Sam's that Costco either hasn't had in awhile or does not carry. So I was pleasantly surprised, especially with the food court offering diet and regular Dr. Pepper. Also the fuel prices are often very low so that is a major boon! I have a year to enjoy both clubs so we shall see how it goes. read more

We visited this location while on vacation. Failed to pay attention as we walked in. This location is fully digital check out, no cash registers. So we scrambled at the end to get the app all set for check out, but got it done. Thankfully they have staff near the exit to assist. Megan was beyond friendly and so helpful! Store was set up like any other location we have been to. Large selection with plenty of fresh options to pick from. The store was clean and well laid out. I always like to check out the clothing section & found a Halloween sweater at deep discount. Thank you Megan and the entire Thursday staff for a great experience at this new location. read more

This Sam's club is pretty great. They have lots of products for sale. I think they had rhino shield service providers offering services for purchase inside the store. Rhino shield was giving away stickers. They also had a Kelloggs representative there with a back to school pencil. There were some folks selling goat cheese and brie cheese. Very thick and creamy. They had lemonade and fresh squeezed orange juice for sale along with pineapple. There was berry cake for sale along with berries and whipped cream. They also had freshly made tortillas and chocolate cake and key lime pie. There was sushi for sale, steak, chicken thigh, pork in tortilla, spinach and cheese ravioli with chicken and ice cream. They were giving koozies out with the ice cream. They also sell various yogurt flavors. They also were selling graham crackers and luigi ice in lemon, cherry, and strawberry. They were selling salmon with a side salad. They were also selling hersheys packs with hersheys chocolate, malted milk balls, and kit kat and reeses peanut butter cups. They also had pretzels with ranch dressing dust. They were also selling Angie's popcorn and little beef jerky sticks. They were also selling a green health drink. The employees kept saying hello as they went around the store. This made them seem friendly but then I wasn't sure if I should start taking with them. A lot of them were also on their phones to either take pictures or converse with their coworkers. Nice temperature inside. Good for cooling off after being in the hot outdoors. Lots of people just doing pick up and not leaving their cars. They had a quick car pick up section. Parking lot can get crowded and crazy especially since they are located in the Tempe Marketplace plaza. Hard to get out of their parking lot to get to the freeway since It is manly right turn only out of their part of the parking lot. Store seemed clean and organized. A big warehouse. Scan and go only store. They have a food court and a pharmacy and an optometry there. Unfortunately, their sample kiosk was not working as someone had left the machine door slightly ajar. read more

One of the best Sam's clubs I have been to! I live closer to a different location but came out of my way to try this location. It did not disappoint! I will definitely come here again! Parking was convenient and the prices were great! Staff were friendly and I love the scan and go option. They also had the cheapest Buffalo Trace I have ever seen! Today is the grand opening day for this location! Stopped by yesterday for the members soft opening and we had a lot of fun. The store is big and has a lot of ASU merch and along with some State 48 shirts only sold here. Employees were all friendly. Checking out is a little different here as we were told to use the app to check out. You scan each one of your items on the app and the employee standing at the door will verify the transaction as you walk out. There is plenty of parking out front. I had a great experience visiting our new club! We live about 15 minutes away and we absolutely love having one this close to us! The parking lot has so many spaces available. Very convenient. Is it busy? Of course, it is. It's Sam's Club. Do they have scan and go for purchasing? Yes. No cashiers which allow for more retail and food shopping space. Love it. The variety of food? Amazing, which is why I love Sam's Club. Unlike Costco, Sam's Club has no shame selling other competing brands. The options are amazing. I felt they had a great amount of sample stations. I also feel like the aisle spaces were so nice and big. One thing I do believe that Sam's can do that would really enhance the difference from Costco would be: similarly to parks where they have "lanes" for walking and bikes, the store should create lanes for stopping, and moving. This would truly alleviate any altercations between the shoppers in the store due to countless amounts of stopping and going and blocking of the aisles. The staff is extremely helpful and I felt like the store was clean and offered a great organized layout. I loved our visit! Great job Sam's Club! Can't wait for our next visit! read more

This is a new store, so still shiny and well-organized. Lots of staff on the floor for questions. We were taken aback a bit as there are no registers! What no long checkout lines?!?! It's all scan and go. However, we are seniors and did not have the app on our phones and not in the mood to set it all up. Your main store is clean and nice and not crowded, and most staff are very friendly. BUT... the food court always has dirty tables and trash on floor and at the soda station. And even worst is the young woman who YELLS the food court order numbers with a rude annoying tone (and MUCH louder than necessary to be heard by those near the seating areas). 4 visits and she was there every time shouting like an angry bird. Ruins both the shopping and dining exierience. Gave constructive advice to mgt on 3 of the visits, but zero change in her volume or tone on my last vist. Sad to say but she is the single worst part of this entire otherwise very nice store, and why I tell friends and family not to shop here. read more

I absolutely love Sam's club in general and I'm so glad there's one with scan and go only, that's neat. I love the layout and how big this warehouse is inside. Zero problem-solving for Sam's Credit Card payments, lack of in-store connectivity until you're in scan and go mode (which is discovered when you're done shopping). Paid for a full year, canceled after three weeks with no refund, that's how cracked this location is. Shiny new shell, but the service feels like a Final Destination nightmare. No staffed lanes, the app glitches and loops a message "go to a register", but no register exists! Staff vanish the second the tech fails, and when they do grudgingly show up, they have a disgruntled, lethargic 'I can't be bothered' attitude. Opened only a few weeks and the food court was sticky, tables unclean, garbage cans overflowing, carts drifting across the lot, and trash was littered everywhere. I live in the apartments in front (north) of it, even that convenience is not enough to stay. Also, I'm pissed because they're dirtying up the Tempe marketplace, it feels like a motel 6 Walmart parking out now! :( I pay a small fortune in rent, this is a freaking downgrade! What a miserable direction for the Tempe stores here, when my lease is up next year, I'm now planning to move (love my home), but I hate this ugly/overly crowded parking lot situation. This site was such a stupid choice, Sam's Club is too big for the tiny little corner they picked. I now drive past this dump to shop at Costco for bulk purchases, despite the further location because of how much I hate this Sam's Club, and Walmart's spitting attitude towards its customers. This setup turns paying customers into forced, unpaid labor. You scan, you troubleshoot, you 'bag' (yeah you gotta bring that too), you wipe your own table, and you get ignored when their system glitches. It's anti customer, hostile, and anti-human, a wet dream for Walmart, but a friction filled horror show, for customers and a time sink, for your life energy. If "innovation" means no help, no store accountability, no basics, congratulations, you've engineered a line of dysfunctional business practices, combined with a dystopian, vulture culture. People who like to shop here, are the people who bring the movie Idiocracy to real life, in real time. Trading their dignity for carnival food and some dirty gas, you deserve the destruction of society that awaits you, just so you can save a few pennies. God I hate this pathetic customer base, Walmart is living proof that people will give up all their honor, and regard for their worth as human beings for a slushy, and a few cents off some crap products. Terrible app! Or maybe it was the TERRIBLE WIFI at the new store at Tempe Marketplace! New store, all scan & go, no options for checkout, yet WiFi inside the store was only 1 bar--thru out the store! I spent 40 minutes trying to set up my new account as per instructions from the nice customer service desk. Then I finished shopping and discovered no checkout counters of any kind! No Apple Pay or PayPal.. Nope you have to enter your personal info & credit card info into a VERY hunky system. Worst shopping experience EVER! It wasn't just me. There were crowds of people having similar problems getting a WiFi signal. I will not return here. I'm sticking to Costco where there is Excellent prices, service & actual humans who give me the great service. read more

Weak Wifi and cell coverage in a store that only allows Scan and Go that requires wifi or cell coverage with no cashiers. Store doesn't carry my favorite Sam's Club items like whole bean decaf coffee and Dinky Moore stew so I still have to drive across town to another Sam's Club. With rows of coffee products they only carry one crappy brand of pre-ground decaf. read more

Walked out before I even started to download the app. Whet to the Target in the same shopping complex to get the lemons that I needed. The new mobile scan and go is a good idea but the moment you are 30ft inside the store you lose cell service (Verizon). They recommend using the open unsecured WiFi. No thank you. Not logging into my app and using a CC on an unsecured network. Has to leave my cart and items behind. I was able to get gas so not a total failure. read more

If you enjoy using only an app with zero check out help no boxes or customer service this new Sam's is your place. If you are over 60 and spend over $500 on most trips to stock up beware of what you are entering. They offered to install the app on our phones. We decided to just leave our overflowing cart. They then said just this once they would assist us in scanning our items. We asked about boxes to help us carry the many items. They said if you find any on the floor you can take those but we do not keep any for this purpose. We were so excited to have a Sam's closer to us! Since they closed our Scottsdale location we have been driving to Glendale. Guess that will have to continue:(!! You really should warn the public that you are the FIRST ALL DIGITAL location. They have no plans to have any checkout stands. May I suggest a senior day where actual customer service is allowed one day per week or month?
