If you are in Teaneck NJ and you are looking for some dairy kosher food I would highly recommend Sammys. This is more of a spot for Breakfast or Lunch. This is not a dinner spot unless you are looking to have a pizza night in. The best option there is there make your own salad. The options are endless from their lettuce, toppings, proteins, and dressings. The one downside is when the run out of a item they will not tell you. That is disappointing when you are expecting a specific vegetable and you realize it is not there when you are already eating. The mac and cheese is another one of my favorites. Three different types of cheese and it is a large portion for the price. If you are looking for a filling Breakfast I would recommend their omelettes. They have a few different options and they are all very tasty and filling. read more

Food is pretty good but consistently the absolute worst service of any restaurant in the area. I dread having to get food from them.

I guess they do not want, or need, new customers. I have been trying to get a menu so I could place an order. I sent a message yesterday. They asked for my Fax number. NOTHING. I called this morning. The young woman asked for my Fax number. Then said it is easier to email me the menu. NOTHING! I just called and said that I was trying to get a menu either Faxed or Emailed to me. Worst bagel store ever! Do not waste your time or money! Waited 45 minutes for 2 toasted bagels then they messed up on the order 3 times! Never getting the order right. The manager was "magically not available" when we asked to speak with one and we could not cancel the order without one. Tried calling the manager got put on hold for 20 minutes! Placed an order on their website two weeks prior to the delivery date. When the delivery guy came he had the WRONG ORDER. There is no person to speak to in order to rectify any issues. Attempted to reach out via phone, email and text with ZERO RESPONSE. I placed this order as we advertised a pizza party for our last day of religious school which is kind of hard to do WITHOUT OUR PIZZA ORDER. Extremely disappointed in this business as we spent close to $200 and were hoping to use them in the future, which clearly we will not be doing. I ordered food for delivery a few days before I needed it. The food was never delivered and when I tried to contact the restaurant, via email,text, and voicemail, I didn't receive a reply. No one answered the phone. My husband went to pick up the food an hour later and the order wasn't ready and he had to wait another 30 minutes. The wraps were messy looking, like they were rushed. The bagels are delicious, but if you don't already know how to order in the horribly confusing layout, don't expect to figure it out any time soon. Customer service is nonexistent. The staff acts annoyed that you can't figure out which bar to go to to place an order. There are no menus or prices, you just kinda have to go for it. The few times that we went there, they were always rude, slow, and crowded. We avoided the place for a few years because of that, but decided to give them a chance again today. We were disappointed again. The place has not changed. They got the order wrong, and were very rude when we complained about it. Always a long wait. Especially when they're fresh. Oh my god, when I'm up at 6:35 and i see them pouring out the trays of fresh bagels, my mouth starts watering. Plus, their prep technique is great, they're geniuses-- they slather on cream-cheese. That is their Simple yet elegant solution to making a great bagel. Their flavored selections of cream-cheese are all I can think about sometimes. I wish they got strawberry flavored cream-cheese though, cali style, you know. Toasted everything bagel with lettuce tomatoe and loxspread=heaven. Love this place! I tried this place for the first time by accident. during lunch a coworker and I were going to try that tai place on the same block but got lost going there and realized we wouldnt have enough time so went to sammys instead. I saw it was kosher and thought it would be expensive but the prices were actually fair!! The pizza was so good too!!!!!! Ever since then i go here a lot and bring others as well! Everyone I introduced loves it! Omg they added a cafe and its even better now! They have 3 in one, deli, cafe, and pizzeria with other Italians dishes and more! The bagels are great. They are also huge. Everything is nice and fresh. The custom salads are a lot of fun too - though the dressings have way too much sweetener and could be way better. One thing I'll never understand is how they manage to mishandle the long line during rush-hours or big bagel days. I don't understand why they can't develop a good working system. I suspect there are some seniority issues with new managers being brought in and senior employees insisting on doing things their way. Either way, there's always bickering and inefficiency during peak hours. That said, everyone knows this and continues to wait on the lengthy mismanaged lines because the bagels are just so good. read more

While the food is ok, the service and attitude are both horrible! I placed an order for delivery and was told my order would be delivered between 11:40-11:55. Over an hour later, and it still hadn't been delivered. Every time I call and hear my voice, they immediately hang up on me. They have done absolutely nothing to remediate the situation. My experiences there: Customer service is pretty average. Salad options are great and tasty (a la cart style ordering). Pizza is just ok and overpriced. They don't serve meat. Bagels, again over priced, but are pretty good. You pay for the Kosher experience which I'm not concerned ab but its near my house so I go for convenience and if I'm in the mood to pay ab $10.00 for there salads. Don't go during lunch hours if you are in a rush. read more

The best bagels I have ever had, been going there for almost 20 years-crazy! The staff overall is incompetent, but I am still giving it 5 stars (the baker gets 10 stars to compensate for the front end staff)! I had a coworker bring in bagels and coffee from this place back in June and I was very pleasantly surprised. The bagels were huge and were delicious; they had the perfect consistency and was exactly what a bagel should taste like. The coffee was also very good and was definitely much appreciated. I can't comment on the restaurant itself, but if you're in the area and want a good bagel and coffee, this is a good place to try! read more

I have now ordered from Sammy's several times and while the food is good the service is terrible. On all occasions I ordered in advanced and when I arrived at the store they were not ready. On one occasion it was a catering order I placed a week in advance. When I went to pick it up they not only did not have it ready they had no idea what I was talking about. On a second occasion I followed the instructions and texted the order in. Not only was the order not ready they had not placed the order. I reordered the food. It was 45 minutes before they even started to make it. I waited over an hour for an order texted in. I was not alone. Others in the store were in the same situation as I was. If you are waiting to feed hungry children Sammy's is not the place to go. The people working there were very rude to the customers. Customer service needs to be improved. read more

This is a Kosher deli so expect higher than normal prices and no meat and cheese combos. However don't let that dissuade you from checking out this fine establishment! I only go for their lunch specials but god are they good. For ten bucks you get a whole deli sandwich and a quarter pound of any side you want. Sandwiches range from hot or cold deli, freshly made roast chicken, pepper steak, and other fresh roasts. The salads are always fresh and tasty, I usually get the rosemary potatoes when they have them. Although the price is a little high, I highly recommend this deli. Terrible customer service. I called in advance to order lunch for pickup, for a total cost of $11. Manager told me I had to prepay over the phone. I told her I was driving and could not read my credit card while driving. She refused to budge and would not take my order unless I prepaid. I watch the man preparing salads and sandwiches using his bare hands after taking off the obviously filthy gloves he'd been previously wearing. I then watched him bare-hand plate French toast that was served to a child. There was no hand washing between. The pizza guy was sweating Into the pizza and appeared filthy as well. The chairs are cracked, greasy and filthy. The bathrooms are filthy. The tables are filthy. I really want to love this place. I am a huge fan of kosher dairy, and this place has it in spades. It's pretty tasty too. I just wish they can get their act together. I've been several times, both dine in and delivery. Dine in takes about 30 minutes to get your food, and you often have to go to different counters to retrieve it. Delivery is a crap shoot...maybe you'll get what you order, maybe you won't (I've had a 25% success rate of getting exactly what I ordered). WHEN they forget a dish in your order, don't try calling to ask for a refund...they never answer the phone. I just placed an order for delivery, and 40 minute later I got a message saying they canceled my entire order. This place is just not worth the hassle. Don't bother. read more

The food is pretty good, but the service is terrible. To begin with, it is extremely confusing as to where to order everything. At the bagel counter, you order anything with eggs at the registers and then pick it up at the pizza counter. But for any other bagel order, you have to go to the line closer to where the bagels physically are to place your order. Not knowing this, I waited on line by the registers to place my order only to be told that I had to go to the back of the other line since my order did not involve eggs. Of course, the woman behind the counter couldn't simply take my order and walk 5 feet to grab a bagel and slap some tuna on it. The people working behind the pizza counter are rude and aloof. They don't seem to have any idea how things work when you proactively ask them, but they have no problem pointing out when you're 10 seconds late picking up your order from the counter, after they rudely yell your name across the whole store. When I ask them simple questions they just respond with a blank stare. If there were an option with comparable food and better service, I'd never step foot in this place again. read more

I started coming here when I moved to nearby Englewood about three years ago. I found that the food was OK at best, but for a town and region whose kosher options are limited, it would do. Then came two incidents when I got sick after having brunch there - I believe I had my usual Spanish omelette with potatoes and bagel with butter on the side. The second time I was so ill that I swore off coming back to this place ever again. And until tonight, I didn't. Tonight, Saturday night, my wife and I went out for some slices. When we got there, 9:30 pm, the doors were locked, but the lights were on and there were employees inside preparing to open. One of the workers inside flashed us the ten-fingers sign, and later someone else opened the door to explain that they were not opening up until 10:00 pm. They explained that it was because the kosher-certifying agency required they not open before 10 which didn't quite ring true because the other kosher pizza place across the street was already open and serving customers. But hey, I keep kosher and I know that the rules can be arcane and vary from one certifying agency to another, so I dealt with it and waited. The worker who came out also told us that we could order ahead by phone, which I promptly did, thereby saving myself a long wait when the doors did finally open. I did have to wait a little bit before I could claim my order, but the food was hot, so I didn't complain. I took a seat with my wife and proceeded to tear into the slices I ordered. They were good - nice and cheesy, nice proportion of cheese to sauce, fresh in a way only pizza straight out of the oven could be. My wife had ordered slices and fries, and was telling me that the place wasn't so bad. The trick was to time your arrival and order to when the pizza was fresh. I was ready to heed her encouragement to give the place another chance - I don't have to order an omelette, she said. OK. But then I saw it. The MOUSE. Yes, there was a MOUSE scampering on the floor of Sammy's Pizza, keeping to the foot of the counter wall and then disappearing into the molding at its base, right near the feet of some waiting customers who did not see it. But one of the girls at the next table saw it, and told her friends she saw that she thought was a large cockroach. I told them it was no cockroach. My wife heard me say it was a mouse; she promptly put down the slice she was still working on and dumped her bowl of fries face down into the pizza box. I told her, "case CLOSED!" as I folded up the box and dumped it in the garbage. We wanted to tell a manager about it but we could not be sure who the manager was. I come here all the time and I'm so frustrated with the experience I had today. I waited to hand my salad to the salad guy for 10 minutes and there was nobody there so I flagged down another employee who just put my paper behind the counter. I then waited for another 20 minutes and nobody was able to make my salad. I was told that nobody could find the salad guy. I had to leave for work so I had them take my number for a refund, but unfortunately I will not be eating today till late at night. Terrible service. Go here if you want to be aggravated by habitually getting the wrong food, waiting on long lines, being ignored, and having your credit card charged in error. Tonight I ordered a salads and mozzarella sticks. Long story short, I never got the mozzarella sticks, no one had a clue what happened and it took forever to get a refund because the manager was making coffee and didn't want to be interrupted (and was rude to me). Ordering take-out, salads and an order of mozzarella, sticks took 40 minutes and I left with half the order and a ton of aggravation. While I was excited they remodeled this place and added extra seating I have never witnessed this place in such discord. The manager Joanne is horrible. She is rude, unfriendly and frankly doesn't seems that she cares about the customers and is running this place into the ground. WAKE UP OWNER! I have never seen this place so filthy dirty. The Pizza was ok. The Place was ok, very confusing as to where and what to order. The employees behind the counter were terribly rude. One was speaking on the phone to her friend in spanish and couldn't be bothered to help me. When I did get her attention, she wouldn't acknowledge me, only with grunts, and wouldn't look me in the eye when I spoke to her. The gentleman who was making the pizzas was annoyed by my presence also. The spanish speaking lady was prancing around, speaking very loudly to her comrades about all sorts of inappropriate things, personal things, joking she was going to be fired, and really was not interested in servicing the customers. I went today with my son and ordered 3 slices of pizza and a French fries at 12pm. We got the slices and ate...went back for my fries every 4 minutes...30 min later my son's done and I went up and said please, 30 min to make fries? I need to go. The woman behind the counter was soooo rude (as usual) and I said please just credit my card, I must leave to get my daughter from a bday party. She tells me be more patient. I said kindly again as always, I was patient for 37 minutes from the time I ordered but I really have to go, please just credit my cc and held out my card. She said NO and walked away!!!! I left. Literally thieves. Didn't give me my fries or credit for them. I had the class to walk away from a psycho situation like that because it wasn't about the few dollars. I know they are technically two different storefronts, but I'm treating the bagels and dairy place as one. The bagels are of the best, if not best bagels I have ever had. Heavily flavorful, soft,fresh, with a rather unique, amazing texture. The bagels are one of my favorite things about living in Teaneck so far. The pizza/dairy place I had avoided a few times, because since it looked really nice, I figured it would be very expensive for cheap food and not worth it over EJ's across the street (which I liked, but not loved). I still have not yet tried the actual pizza, which I hope to change soon, because it looks really good, and the selection of slices is fantastic, but their other food was no disappointment at all. We got a ravioli dish for $8, and were worried it would be tiny for that price (Comparable places we have been to had been charging in the $12-$16 range for ravioli), so we asked the server how large it was. He responded "a lot". Very specific measurement indeed, but we didn't believe him until it came. Well, it had a solid 10-15 pieces, and it was topped on a bed of fettuccine, so yeah, I guess that's " a lot", especially for the price. Why they don't advertise the fettuccine is beyond me. $8 for all of that is an incredible deal, not to mention it tasted fantastic. Not the best pasta I have ever had, but definitely by far the best I've had in a Pizza place. We also got mozzarella sticks which actually were the best I've ever had. Fresh, big, and perfect amount of cheese, with quality marinara as a dipping sauce. The chairs were rolly and comfortable, also unique for a pizza place, and the service was decent. Prices were more than fair, and food was incredible. I'm very glad to live so close to Sammy's Pizza and Bagels. read more
