This is the fun, lively cafe that Mount Gilead needed. The recent change of owner has been a breath of fresh air. New menu items, including delicious food and drinks. Lotus energy drinks for non coffee drinkers! There is also a selection of the cutest local artisan items for sale.

    Breakfast sandwich and coffee.

Almost a daily morning stop for me. Friendly people. Good coffee. Fantastic muffins in the morning and oatmeal cake. Breakfast sandwiches also. Open for lunch also.

The place was incredibly clean -- the kind of clean where you almost hesitate to set down your coffee mug because you don't want to mess up the shine. Inside, the locals were holding court: talking crops, local happenings, and laughing like this was their morning news network. It felt less like eavesdropping and more like I'd been drafted into the Edison Breakfast Club. I went with the Country Fried Steak and scrambled eggs (the waitress must've sensed I needed backup protein). The food was solid, classic diner fare -- hearty enough to fuel a day of farming, driving, or just another round of local gossip. The real MVP? The service. My waitress treated coffee refills like an Olympic relay -- the bottom of my cup never once saw daylight. For the tribe, I ordered a breakfast bowl, a half order of biscuits and gravy, some bacon, and even oatmeal to keep things balanced. The portions were generous, and it all packed up neatly for the road. Pro Tip: Don't just come hungry, come curious. Sit back, sip your coffee, and you'll leave knowing more about Edison crops than you ever planned. Verdict: Edison Depot is the kind of place where breakfast isn't just a meal -- it's a community event with eggs, gravy, and unlimited coffee on the side.

It's a unique place with an old train car built into the structure. Be careful on the steps. Tjey don't have anything vegan and not much is vegetarian, but my parents enjoy the burgers and say it's much better than fast food. I had a grilled cheese with fries. It was good, if a little basic, but it was also really cheap. Could make it at home, but nice to eat out sometimes. Much cheaper than grilled cheese at a food truck. The burgers are cheaper than fast food so it is better to go here as opposed to a fast food chain. They also have an ice cream parlor, but I haven't tried that yet. Over it's pretty good.

There was one in Maine every bit as good. To be fair some states were just drive-through, but we tried coffee shops in all but 2 of those listed. This was a really great place. They have friendly attentive staff and most of all, the way they present their baked goods and the quality of said baked goods is worth the steps inside. Everything is hand created there. Speaking of the food: The breakfast biscuit made on the herbed biscuit is a MUST get. If you don't get one and someone in your party does.. you "will" have food envy. Not even joking. It is that good. We surprised our friends at a dog show down the road ag the richland county fair with breakfast sandwiches and baked goods from Nickel and Bean and they multiple times brought up how good the sammie was. The reviews and pics of this location looked good - as were the hours of operation. The only challenge as it turned out was parking. I had not done my homework on that. I ended up parking on a side street off the town square. Short walk and free, so I guess I can't complain. The coffee menu is basic - and I'm a basic decaf person. They had a limited selection of baked goods. I had hoped for more so I could take something home for the hubby - but my friend found something she wanted and ate every bite. Drinks were fine and they had a table for us to sit and talk. And talk we did - for two and a half hours. The seats were comfortable as I normally would not be able to sit that long. They also have a restroom that was nice and clean. Driving some distance, we both needed that amenity! Overall, I highly recommend so a nice, casual place to sit and chat and enjoy someone's company. The noise level was relatively quiet and we didn't have any distractions. While I doubt I'll be back, I would not hesitate to return if I had a reason.
