Love this place! Traditional Korean home style dishes with no fuss. You order at the counter and sit down with a buzzer. There is also self serve tea and broth. Roomy, good for small groups. Friendly staff.

Bone Soup

Dined here again this weekend for lunch, they were packed and busy! This was our second time, we ordered the Macarel Meal and the Bone Soup! They gave us a heads up and let us know that our food will take time as there were quite a few orders lined up before us! Found us a table and enjoyed the warm comforting meal on a snowy Sunday! The food tasted so so good. Hit the right spot. Majority of the diners were from Korean decent so you know this place is Legit! I am so glad they gave all the sides: rice, kimchi, radish kimchi, veggies dipped in soy, and soup with the fish meal and same sides except for the soup with the Bone soup meal. The ambiance here is casual, the area is spotless clean, and self service! No tipping! Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed.

Raw fish naengmyun and pork neck

Sambong is a self serve no tip restaurant! I liked that there was unlimited broth and tea to drink with your meal. The hwe naengmyuns noodles were perfectly cooked however the actual raw fish part was quite hard to chew. If you have dental problems I would not recommend. The flavor was good though! The pork was also flavorful and very good and tasted fresh. A nice to place to stop by and have a quick meal! Will probably just get the bibim naengmyun next time and maybe try the galbi!

Absolutely loved my meal here, highly recommend if you're looking for good Korean food. It can be pretty busy, but there's plenty of space and we were able to go on a weekend for dinner with just walk in. Once you order at the counter, you just find a table and seat yourself. The flavor is incredible, the flavor hits home, and the prices are great value for the portions you get. Will definitely be coming back and cannot recommend it enough!

Pork Dumplings

Nice place! The staff were nice and it was a family friendly atmosphere. I got 5 dumplings for a little over $10. Based on the location I understand the pricing however I don't think they were worth $10 personally. They were tasty but given the size and quality, I think they were too expensive. They were an appetizer. Not many vegetarian options so I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for a meat free meal. They are self serve so you order and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. Water is free and you can get it at the self serve bar.

Great korean eatery with self serve tea, broth, and take out containers. Food was very good and great value!

Good food, a bit pricey, nice ambiance. Self serve which is nice. The second time I went, I ordered a mackerel which was a nice option. Fish, rice, soup, side dishes for around $16 with tax.

The menu and restaurant itself is very authentic with a good food options. I got the Japchae and Bulgogi but next time I would like to try the other food that I've never had before. It was yummy and filling and the self serve was pretty self explanatory.

It's a you-serve-yourself type of place, and I don't mind that. They have bone broth is available as a drink option, which is quite interesting. We enjoyed the bone broth a lot. The LA Galbi is excellent. The portion seems small and rice is not included. The bibimbap is OK, they have lettuce in there, which is a bit weird. More of a homey style of a dish, a bit different than what I expected. The cold noodles seemed like a big hero on the menu, so we decided to give it a try. That's the only thing I do not enjoy. The noodles are really thin and hard to chew. I wish they offered more small dishes that come with your meal like most other Korean restaurants do.

Seafood soondubu & LA galbi combo

If you are looking for authentic Korean staples, Sambong is where you should go. I love soondubu and they have one of the most flavorful soondubu's I have tried in MI. The LA galbi wasn't overly marinated (usually it's quite sweet) and it had a nice smokiness to it. I appreciated the self serve barley tea and bone broth which were both delicious as well. Each table also has a little pull out drawer with napkins, spoons and chopsticks. Staff were very friendly. Food came out pretty fast.

First and only place in MI that lets you get unlimited hot beef broth, that's a win for sure. However, overall their food was just ok. - mul naenmyun & beef kalbi combo - hwe bibim naenmyun & pork kalbi combo - grilled mackerel - Donkatsu Both pork and beef kalbi was great, meat was tender on both, but I preferred the pork more than the beef, maybe it was the price point. Mackerel and donktasu was decent, nothing special to write home about. The bibim naenmyun was a lot better than their mul naenmyun. The mul naenmyun, no matter how much vinegar/hot mustard you add, it didn't really help with the seasoning of the broth. You order at the counter, they give you a buzzer, when it rings, you go pick up the food, when done, you drop off the tray at the front and out the door you go, no tipping, which is nice, but we all know it's added to the price :) Glad to see they have other food options, as with MI winter, they wouldn't survive just on offering naenmyun. One issue I had with their naenmyun, the mul naenmyun seemed like they pulled the noodle when I ordered it, whereas the bibim naenmyun, the noodle was precooked and ready to go. I got a lot of clumped noodles in my dish, thus can only give three stars. Interior is nothing special, but the tables do have drawers with spoons and chopsticks, so you don't need to get them from the self serve counter area :)

Authentic (not many non - koreans!) Fast service (order to food was 10 minutes) Satisfying (had the beef tendon stew), just the right spice level, leaves a warm feeling inside. Recommend this given it is cold outside nowaday. Dumplings were large and filled with egg and vege. Barley tea self service Beef broth self service Portions decent Thing that resulted in minus one is tables too small, felt a bit cramped. Service can be slow. We can at a slow weekend late evening time so it was quicker. The other time food came out in 1 hr. It is also quite warm inside.

Newly opened!! Fast casual Korean food - they were really busy on Friday night, which is a great sign! You order at the front and then find a seat and grab all your utensils, water or complementary bone broth (yummy!), condiments and plates and bowls at a self service station. Signs everywhere to remind no tipping and you bus your own food - but prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly! We ordered bulgogi, pork cutlet, dumplings and pancake and total was $60 all in, no tip. Everything was great, fresh, and the main entrees included a small bowl of rice and kimchi. There's mustard and vinegar along with salt and pepper at the self serve counter. We live nearby and will definitely come back - and a good sign that so many Koreans were eating here too! This is a welcome eatery to the area - fresh, reasonable prices and unique! There were some things on the menu that they don't have in stock; Small menu but very well done; there are about 3 vegetarian dishes, so may be limited if that's a dietary restriction. Small seating area that can fill up at busy times. We were a party of 3 and got the last 4 top so there may be a wait if it's a busy time. Big strip mall parking lot High chairs and booster seats Bathrooms but I didn't check them out.

The pork neck BBQ is fantastic. Authentic mul naengmyeon is fairly hard to come by in Michigan, and this place does it right.

The service isn't bad, but I think the expectation is that you will let them know if you need something. They don't keep an eye on your water or drinks, but they were quick to fill them once we flagged them down. We tried some of our personal favorites and new things. They had a corn tea, which I never tried before. The flavor is hard to describe and a bit outside my preferences. It has a strong earthy corn taste. It was hot and came in a big pot. The banchan were awesome. I loved their kimchi, cucumbers, and fish cakes the most. They also had a seaweed salad and bean sprouts. We have tried sundubu jjigae with pork, kimchi fried rice, fried dumplings, japchae, and pajeon. I wouldn't get the sundubu again. There was something strongly overpowering the soup that was too intense for me and kind of bitter. Ive ordered this soup before at other locations, so I was surprised that it didn't suit my palate. The pajeon was huge. I prefer them thin, and this one was crazy thick. It was also overpowered with garlic, and I don't think those words have ever come out of my mouth before. What I would order again---japchae, kimchi fried rice, and dumplings! I love that they have so many options, and I had fun trying new things.

Service is a bit more hands-off, but I personally prefer that so it was a good experience in my book! One thing I must say is that I felt the menu was a bit limited. A lot of the menu consists of soup, which obviously isn't a bad thing (I personally LOVE soup), but my partner felt a bit of disinterest as he's not too keen on it. We opted for bbq and a shared entree (I can't recall the name, but it had pork belly and squid) instead. Both were tasty! The bbq also came with sides and two bowls of rice.

This time we got the bibimbap, black goat soup, and a bone soup. We also got Jap Che for appetizer. Everything was satisfactory. Both the soups were piping hot. We got barley tea, which was complimentary. The service was below average. It was busy but our server never came back once to check on us. We had fried Mandu for an appetizer- they were delicious and crispy. We picked Combination A- which had bulgogi, marinated short ribs, chicken, and shrimp. All the meat turned out so good and tender. We also got the steamed egg- would definitely recommend this as well. All the Banchan that came with the combination meal were delicious. And comes with purple rice- we got one extra bowl so we'd each have one as the combination plate comes with 2. This was a good amount of food for me, my husband, and child. My 4 year old was a big fan of the food too- and they gave her a cute pink plate to use so she loved that. Also tried the Bokbunja, Korean raspberry wine, and it was good! Moderately sweet berry flavor, more of a dessert-y wine, it was fun to try!

It's not easy to find and I never learned to make it myself; I'm always looking for it on menus. A couple years ago, I was in Lansing for a business trip and had Loco Moco at a place and was super impressed. I went to write a review about a month later and found they were closed. Imagine my surprise when I saw they were reopening a short bit later, but in Troy! This review is long overdue. The Loco Moco is my favorite by far; the gravy is incredibly savory, the burger patties are well seasoned, and the egg yolks are perfectly runny. Served on top of rice + with some perfectly made Mac Salad (not "pasta salad"), every bite is so good!! I also really enjoy the Meat Jun special that they have every once in awhile and the Pork specials they had for a bit were quite good as well. In their previous space in Lansing, they had a bigger space with more tables and the eat in service was handled very well. In Troy, I read that they specifically picked a smaller space to largely do take out/pick up only due to personal circumstance. They have always been personable when I pick up, which is incredibly often; thankfully, they also always seem pretty busy, which is good, I need them to keep making delicious food for a long time. :)
