Beautifully served flan

We haven't been to dinner in a restaurant on Christmas Day, ever! But having celebrated Christmas Eve with our family, the two of us were looking for something memorable and delicious for a Christmas dinner. The family that runs this restaurant was very cordial and welcoming. The food was delicious! The meat could have been served a little more frequently, but it was fine. And if you want medium rare temperature, you need to be sure to get a slice from the middle, and not the end. Overall, wonderful Christmas experience and we are very appreciative they were open, welcoming, and accommodating.

Experience was awesome. Chef made sure to get our preferences, and food was brought out the way we like it. Less salt, medium rare, whatever, he makes sure you get what you like. The grilled pineapple was amazing!

My party of four were met with smiles from about five hosts dressed in black; that was nice, but…read morewhat followed was not. We arrived on time for our 6:40 PM reservation but were asked to allow five to ten minutes to clear the table. We waited about 30 minutes, witnessing the same hosts telling everyone after us the same story about waiting only an additional five to ten minutes to clear the table. Some of those groups were seated before us though we were there first! I had to walk up to remind them of my party's name and reservation! The empanadas were very delicious. Soft drinks are NOT refillable. The steaks were excellent with a grilled taste, the perfect texture, and a great flavor. The sides were not that great. We had lobster Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant mashed potatoes, and the Mac and cheese didn't have enough lobster in it. It also could have had more sauce. I did not like the flan at all; all I could taste was condensed milk. My husband and kids liked the chocolate cake, which I did not taste (not a chocolate lover). I also bought the confetti cake for home, which I really did not like. The icing was just way too light. Maybe someone else may appreciate that, but I don't like moose-like icings that have to be refrigerated. I do not think it was worth the $415 price tag. It was okay, but I probably won't return. In total, I purchased three 8.oz center cut filets, one order of empanadas, one order of mashed potatoes, one order of Mac and cheese, two Coke zeros, three sweet teas, a confetti cake, a chocolate cake, and flan. I could have saved about $56 if I hadn't gotten any dessert. I wish I hadn't.

I was curious about their tea, but there was a winter combo at the time that caught my eye more. I got their hot chocolate, traditional beef empanada, and bulgogi BBQ empanada. It was my first time having such a flaky empanada. The dough is nice and tasted good, I like that it's baked instead of fried, which I'm more used to. Out of both the empanadas I got, I would recommend the traditional beef because of the unexpected raisins that worked pretty well with the beef filling. The bulgogi was alright. The meat itself was a bit dry but the BBQ sauce helped with that. The hot chocolate was milky and great for the cold weather. Next to ordering, there's a fridge for bottled drinks and chilled empanadas. At the time, they only had beef and bulgogi, but I think it's cool that you can bake them at home at a later time. Since Sweet Octopus and Empanada House are in the same building, they seem to share seating space and the bathroom, which is on the lower floor. Food comes out fast and makes for a nice quick bite. There's one empanada that's for vegetarians, though I'm not sure if they don't use eggs for the dough, so vegans should check on that. Sweet empanadas sound good, and if I were to come again, I'd prob get one to try.

I ordered the goulash and traditional beef which came up to be around $10, and didn't take too long for it to be prepared. I brought my food downstairs, and there's plenty of tables to sit both upstairs and down. The flavor was flavoring!!!!! It was hot, fresh, and perfectly paired with the salsa they gave me!! I highly recommend if you're craving empanadas, but if not they also have other menu items like drinks and smoothie bowls. If you don't want those, Sweet Octopus is downstairs with their menu items!

I cannot rave about this place enough - I am beyond happy to have a Brazilian steakhouse in Duluth…read moreinstead of driving all the way to Atlanta. First off, the staff here are so nice. The manager/owner is there everyday and she is so sweet, treats you like family the second you walk in. The restaurant itself isn't very large, and it's very casual. You pay after you eat at the front. The set up is all you can eat, with a self serve salad/sides bar and you walk up to the counter to get your meat cut. Sides: I love that they have plantains. They also have yuca fries and other authentic Brazilian sides. Meat: I am blown away by the quality of the meat here. The picanha is rich and fatty, just how you want it to be. The beef ribs were huge. Pork ribs had a nice crunchy exterior as well. The sausage isn't my favorite but I think that's only because I prefer the taste of American/European style sausages. Their prices are super fair, around $23 for lunch and $33 for dinner with the only real difference being ribs are only on the dinner menu. They are closed on Tuesdays, and the close at 9pm. I've been back 3 times and they're consistently kind and delicious. Will continue to come to satisfy my picanha cravings!!

There were buttons at each table that said push for service. I did but it must have been some fake something because nobody ever came. At a price if $35 per person we were completely ripped off. I've been here many times, with family and friends. I'm actually amazed I haven't written a review…read morebefore, but maybe it just got buried. Today I came with my friend and we decided to eat lunch here. It's changed a little, they now have online menus and one word of advice is to make sure you press "confirm" in black once you think your order is in. Otherwise, it'll stay in a state of flux. Plenty of parking here, but tough entrance and exit when it's busy for the Old Norcross traffic. We did the Unlimited lunch for $31, and got two Coke zeros along with an ice cold jug of water. The servers all rotate thru the restaurant, making sure each table is being managed well, meats are cooking properly, and filling up banchan when needed. My buddy who is American LOVES mandu, so we ordered one and it was so nicely crispy and came with a garlic onion soy sauce drizzle which I wished I could take home with me. Even with the all you can eat this was fun and delicious. We had the Unmarinated beef (twice), the bulgogi, the marinated pork neck and the spicy pork belly. Both of us felt like we were hungrier than we were, however we appreciate the options given with the AYCE. I used to come here during Covid when I first moved here, they had a killer lunch special but I'm not sure that's still around. Either way, it's great here and a change up to some of the other spots. This one has great pork options, and some beef for those who don't eat pork. I didn't look for spicy chicken but I've had it here before. Support small owned businesses!
