We haven't been to dinner in a restaurant on Christmas Day, ever! But having celebrated Christmas Eve with our family, the two of us were looking for something memorable and delicious for a Christmas dinner. The family that runs this restaurant was very cordial and welcoming. The food was delicious! The meat could have been served a little more frequently, but it was fine. And if you want medium rare temperature, you need to be sure to get a slice from the middle, and not the end. Overall, wonderful Christmas experience and we are very appreciative they were open, welcoming, and accommodating.

Experience was awesome. Chef made sure to get our preferences, and food was brought out the way we like it. Less salt, medium rare, whatever, he makes sure you get what you like. The grilled pineapple was amazing!

This review once again is LONG OVERDUE!! I apologize to the owner because we had a FABULOUS meal…read moreand experience. We were given a gift certificate by our realtor last year and waited for a special occasion since we were told it is pricey. Valentines seemed like the perfect time and it was! Made reservations several weeks before opting for the 13th of February and at 5 pm in hopes of avoiding the crowd. It worked. We arrived and were seated promptly in what they call the Al Capone booth which was for two and tucked towards the back wall which was cozy and private except much later the table across from us which looks out toward the table we were at, 4 people were seated. It wasn't a big deal as they were busy talking with their group. Our waiter was Jason (I hope I'm remembering his name correctly) and he told us he was fairly new. Great waiter, engaging with us, gave us excellent tips on the food choices, how things were cooked especially the steaks, which cuts would be best for us according to our tastes, very attentive our entire meal, didn't rush us through our meal and told us what to expect with the dishes we chose. Now we share our meals and opted for a 16 oz steak which my husband finished his half and I brought 1/2 of my 1/2 home along with much of our side dishes. I guess that means each side comes with a lot of food. We ordered the sweet potatoes, which was incredibly delicious, nice and soft on the inside and a bit crunchy on the outside. They have a caramel flavor bc of caramelized. Oh sooo scrumptious. The asparagus were nice a large and once again the flavor on them were delish!! Our steak came out on a plate by itself bc Jason said the chef likes to show the beauty of it. I agree, simple, but the steak on its own looked grand. It was cooked to perfection, so juicy and packed with flavor. It melted in our mouth. Worth every cent. The mushrooms along with the sauce flavor we chose were a perfect combo with our steak. The steak on its own was amazing but the mushrooms were delicious with the steak. The incredible rolls they serve are to die for. Light, fluffy and down right a perfect accompaniment to our dinner. My husband enjoyed his wine choice with Jason's recommendation. I had Jason take back my Lemon Drop Martini because it wasn't to my taste, just a bit boozier than I enjoy. The second time was much better. The manager Peril came to our table and introduced himself. Told us about the history of his restaurant and was a kind man. We talked with him about being from CA. Also how his restaurant being located in an area you'd never imagine having such a great restaurant would be was awesome. It's in this small strip mall right off Meadow Drive amongst other small shops. Not very grand looking on the outside but very nice and lovely inside. Very intimate feeling in the booths. I did notice they have a small bar area which was packed as well as small tables in the area. The parking lot is not very large with some handicap parking spots. Quite large inside with outdoor seating within a tent covered area with windows. We definitely will visit again, on another special occasion. Everything and everyone was GREAT and ever so tasty.

Now for the review I HATE giving out 5 stars and was looking for a reason or excuse to knock them down to a a 4.9, but found NONE. The night was perfect. We were there to celebrate a birthday. As I included myself in the "Powers" reservation for four people, I insisted on paying for my own meal. PLUS knowing that my chances of eating there again were slim (visiting from San Diego), I wanted to splurge and indulge. :) I had the 8oz filet (cooked medium) with blue cheese crust, accompanied with 2 pan seared scallops. Oh my God! The steak was cooked perfectly. It had a nice sear while remaining perfectly cooked in the middle. I judge a restaurant/steakhouse by how well it cooks it's scallops. HAVEN eaten many, I know they are easy to mess up. Some places either over-cook them, or don't clean them well. However, these may have been the best I ever had. Cooked perfectly and with full flavor. The group raved about the loaded mashed potatoes and dessert. THE MEAL was awesome. understanding that everyone's experience there will be unique to them, "I" highly recommend you visit this place to have your own experience. I hope in the future I get to eat there again. THIS PLACE IS KEN HARMON APPOVED.

Decor and ambiance are nice. That's it. I ordered a Filet without bacon (wrapped). Why put pork on the best cut of beef??? Well, they couldn't figure that out in the kitchen and still sent a filet out with bacon. So I sent it back. They were to cook a new steak....it took 20 minutes for the new steak to come out. Mean while, my son ate his ribeye and my wife at a little of her way over cooked and dry salmon. Finally, my steak comes out. I cut into it and it was so rare, the middle was cool to the touch. If you want an American Steakhouse dinner, go elsewhere. It's just not worth it here.

My birthday is Christmas week and I typically don't go out as I simply would rather not have to deal with the anticipated crowds. The replacement entrée was fine--it tasted good--but by that point the experience was already affected. For a place like this, you expect a higher level of quality control and attention to detail. While they did try to fix the issue, finding something like that in your food is hard to overlook. Overall, just not the experience I expected for the price. It is housed in a sprawling & cavernous California Ranch Style building that has an assortment of tables & booths & a centered & open barroom. The bar tenders hustle. I found my margarita weak as were the fancier style mixed drinks. But straight on the rocks drinks & martinis have a good pour. The ridge provides Forsyth County residents an '80's vibe - with weekend entertainment & dancing - only thing missing are the ferns hanging from the rafters. The acoustics are very good for cabaret style singers. Eating in the back area with its spacious booths adjacent to large picture windows & overlooking a wooded lot is very nice indeed. The Ridge has fairly new owners - all for the better. Menu is basically the same as the original with a few more seafood selections. The fried jumbo shrimp are very good. Steaks are a little too thin for my liking but look good coming off the flames. Their signature filet mignon medallions is still an excellent choice & good value. Best are the double rack of BBQ Danish Pork Ribs. Danish cut ribs are more petite & leaner than baby backs. On this night they were excellent. Weekends are jamming at the Ridge so a reservation is definitely needed. Be sure to note your table style choice & avoid the dance floor area if you want to have a more intimate dining experience - otherwise you will be part of the entertainment. I gave the ridge a very generous 4 stars. But they actually should rate 3 3/4 stars. I was glad to see that the expansive outside deck area with tables under umbrellas will be opening up soon.
