Hello! I've been coming to One Down Dog for 12 years. This studio is by far the best yoga studio in…read moreLA! The instructors are incredibly supportive and explain poses in a way that's easy to follow, even for beginners. They offer a variety of classes from FIT, Flow, and slow etc... you always have something to choose from depending on your mood. I'd definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for a friendly, non-judgmental place to practice yoga that will leave you feeling great about yourself.

I used ClassPass. We recently had a baby and it's been hard to get fit postpartum. I booked a pilates class, but unfortunately was rushing around just before (you know how it is when you have a window of opportunity to get things done with a very young baby!) Blame clumsiness, blame sleep deprivation- I fell down our stairs. Had to go to urgent care and got put in a boot and on crutches. Unfortunately it was within the no cancellation window for the class. So I concocted a plan - I'd send my mom, who was in town helping me with our baby, to take my class. She'd get a treat and a thank you for all she'd been doing for us, and they wouldn't have a gap in their class. They say the reason you can't cancel is it hurts their business to have a gap last minute, and that's fair, but if you send someone to take the class you paid for, I figured that would take care of them too. I was thinking if she liked it I'd get her a membership for the months she is here helping. Win win. NOT how it worked out. My mom came home very upset - the lady at the desk was mean to her even after she told our story and called me on the phone. The desk lady acted like we were trying to scam her. Ultimately they wouldn't let my mom take my class, so she paid full price for her own. They told her I'd cancel my ClassPass so I wouldn't get charged - well, I just got charged so that was a lie. The whole experience left a bad flavor in both our mouths. I know they didn't have to help, but they could have been nice. They talk a big game about compassion and good energy in classes, so I guess I was hoping for some of the same in a tough situation. Honestly, even after enjoying years of their classes, I don't think I'll go again. It's hard to relax and be in the right mindset in a place where they were mean to your mom because they could. So, yeah. They'll talk a lot about compassion in class, but they will stick it to you even if they're not getting hurt, if they have a way to. It's too bad bc I did enjoy their classes and they have good instructors. But in the end it's all just business. Update: in response to the owner's response below, I do not believe it, because other studios on ClassPass HAVE canceled without charging inside the cancellation window (most recently when my child was born unexpectedly three weeks early), and I sent my sister to take a different class after I got into a bicycle accident a few years ago and that studio didn't cause any trouble. So in addition to how they treated my mom, they're just not telling the truth here and I removed another star because of that. There's a way to do it and they chose not to. I understand not being casually flexible, but on rare occasions there are actual unpredictable emergencies, and in those cases, studios can claim "policy" to refuse or they can show compassion. This is the type of studio that claims to be a place of community but when you actually need community, they go corporate. It's fine if you know that's how they are; it's a nasty shock if you actually thought it was a community.

I absolutely love this studio, mainly because in most classes, I LEARN something about my body…read more Paul's classes, especially, offer such depth and understanding of biomechanics. Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels.

A True Sanctuary for Mind, Body, and Spirit…read more I can't say enough wonderful things about Pasadena Yoga House! I recently attended the class for people with mobility challenges, led by the incredible Peggy, and it was truly a transformative experience. As someone living with Lupus and Muscular Dystrophy, finding a movement space where I feel safe, seen, and supported has been a long journey. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed--not just by the staff, but by the beautiful community that gathers here. There's a genuine warmth in the room that you can feel, and Peggy's presence and guidance made all the difference. She was patient, attentive, and so compassionate, offering helpful adjustments and making sure each student felt comfortable and included. The studio is clean, calm, and absolutely beautiful. They offer plenty of props to support your practice, and the meditation beginning and at the end of class was the perfect way to wind down and reconnect with myself. It's rare to find a space that honors both your limitations and your potential--but Pasadena Yoga House does just that. If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, and healing space to move, breathe, and just be--you've found it. I wholeheartedly recommend this studio to anyone, especially those with mobility challenges or chronic conditions. I left feeling lighter, supported, and truly at home.

I've been a long time member of Corepower so I've had my fair share of hot yoga, and it makes me appreciate the way that hot 8 operates - they have multiple types of classes - I tried Strength, Yin, Sculpt, and they're all fantastic. The membership feels so worth it because of the variety of classes and the multiple rooms/times available. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to the front desk staff - they helped me solve issues with my booking process (my fault) and were so kind/patient when exposing the different classes to me. Oh and shoutout to Allison Chiang - the Strength instructor. She brought the energy and spent time on form correction. So key! Finally - there's free parking with validation in the building! Makes it so easy to commit to the practice.

My favorite class at the moment is Yin, which is a restorative deep fascia release class. (I've had some injuries unrelated to yoga, so I need something more restorative.) Prior to my injury I was taking the Barre classes for 5 to 7 days a week and it changed my life for the best. I am very much looking forward to taking the new Strength classes once I'm feeling up for it. I recommend Mia and Damara for Barre. I recommend Jaz, Shanai (who is also an excellent barre teacher too), and Rachel for Yin. Jaz teaches extra special Yin class with tennis balls that help students stretch into their fascia even more deeply, and is better than any massage I've ever had! With my injury, I'm not sure that I would have continued with my annual executive membership if Jaz were not teaching Yin. Her classes have been a godsend. Even when I'm healed I will continue taking her classes! All the teachers are quite good; I just have my favorites based on personality and instruction style. You are sure to find someone who will exceed your needs! The three reasons that I decided not to give the studio five stars are: 1. they've been running out of the towels that I get with my particular membership. 2. there are some rude students who interrupt important times of instruction, especially the Shavasana, which is critical to closing out a successful yoga practice. 3. The showers can sometimes be a little slimy, which is pretty gross. This was not the case when I first started taking classes almost 2 years ago.

The classrooms are heated and I definitely work up a sweat for the tough workouts/flows. The cool scented towels after classes are super nice. The studio is cozy! There's no showers, but all the areas including the bathrooms are very clean and well kept. There are lockers with built in locks to store your items. I'm in and out of there after my classes. I also love that they have community events and offer special things like sound baths here and there. I look forward to checking out these events in the future once I'm not so busy.

Now that I'm healed, I was thinking about going back to Corepower but the algorithm must have seen me browsing yoga studios and an ad for this place popped up on my Instagram for a $36 for 3 classes intro deal. I was a bit weary of my card automatically getting billed for a membership once my three classes ended, so I called the studio and spoke to Kelsey (She's the daytime studio manager I think) who assured me that there's no catch, I can take the three classes for $36 and decide from there if I want to buy a membership or not. She was super friendly and helpful, she asked me what I was looking for and helped recommend me which classes might be good for me. My first class I took Dahhee's mobility class which I enjoyed. While it definitely feels like yoga, it's not a traditional yoga flow class where you're doing chaturangas and sun salutations between each sequence but a mix of yoga, stretching, and strength building. The second class I took was Kyle's slow flow class. This was more similar to classes I've taken in the past at other studios and I really loved that Kyle integrated her playlist with the movement. The studio is also very welcoming, the first class I went to was an evening class and the evening studio manager Karisma greeted me and helped me check in, while the second time I went during the day and Kelsey was there. There's free combination code lockers in the locker room which is really nice, you don't have to bring your own lock. Parking is fairly easy, they don't have their own lot but there's free street parking on their street. Both times I found street parking right on their street, though they also validate meter parking as the free section is limited. You should give yourself some time to walk over in case you have to park up the street. The two cons I have are: 1) No showers 2) The classes are only warm not hot. I asked Kelsey and she said both classes I took they heat the room to 90 degrees. As someone who's always cold, 90 degrees I'm barely breaking a sweat. The no showers thing actually didn't matter too much because I wasn't drenched in sweat like I usually am after hot yoga. Next week I plan to take the "Power flow" class which I'm told is hotter and also more difficult, so I'm looking forward to it.
