This review is so long overdue. I've been taking classes with Zonnie for over a year now, and I cannot recommend her enough. I started Pilates with Zonnie after a back injury flared up. Working with Zonnie has built up my core and strength overall. I'm more toned and have lost weight. But what I really need to recommend is working with Zonnie herself. She adapts each lesson to how my mind and my body are feeling that day. She has helped me focus or be Zen when I come in frazzled or will accommodate on days when I'm just plain tired. Zonnie's Pilates knowledge is expert, and she is warm, funny and fun to work with. She's the best! read more

It is astonishing at how much improvement I have had and how quick it was. I had some old and newer injuries that affected balance, movement, walking, knee pain, lower back, hip, etc. It wasn't just that Zonnie knew the exercises that were correct, she knew exactly how to do them, what exact position, and what muscles to activate. She is keenly present from moment to moment observing, correcting, and controlling, and is a very competent, pleasant, and calming presence. Then there is a different way of breathing, standing, balancing, and operating one's body in day-to-day life, the training along with the exercises to activate the appropriate muscles. The improvement in my balance is huge, I was frequently tripping or bumping into things - no more. I love to stand up paddleboard, now my balance has improved so that I can paddle on rougher ocean water. I like hiking again - it had become tiring due to injuries. There are side benefits associated with the core exercises and breathing technique that has improved certain common difficulties associated with males of a certain age. Better sleep etc. My knee, lower back and hip pain seem to be in the past as well. It's a lot more fun to do the day-to-day stuff. read more

Zonnie is an incredible teacher and trainer. Her attentiveness and knowledge far exceed any Pilates instructor I have worked with. I had pain in my lower back on a daily basis that subsided after a short while with Zonnie. She tailors the workout to your specific needs and provides corrections that often seem small but targets the correct muscle. The vibe of the studio is great - clean, organized, and well-spaced out. This is my second attempt to post this review-- guessing Yelp thought noone could be as good as I said Zonnie is-- but she is-- We have been working together for 6ish months now-- She is able to work with you in whatever way you will see the best results. I believe she is trained in almost every discipline that could touch pilates in any way. I have been going to Zonnie Bauer Pilates for about 5 or 6 years and I can't say enough wonderful things about Zonnie!! When I started my knees were barely operational (after surgeries) and my core strength was nonexistent, not to mention that my posture was horrible due to bad knees. Now I'm doing intermediate and advanced Pilates moves! (I started at 100% beginner.) Zonnie personalizes each session based on the client since everyone's needs are different. Her attention to detail is really what stands her apart from other studios where there is not much posture correction. I needed to find a Pilates instructor who would be able to help me with torn tendons in my rotator cuff. I found the perfect instructor. Olga is an excellent Pilates instructor. I love going to Olga because she is encouraging, patient, fun but mostly I always receive 55 minutes of an intense workout. She knows what she is doing and she has a million different movements she has me do. I feel so healthy and encouraged that she is helping me with my journey of healing of my shoulder. My fiancé brought me to do Pilates with Zonnie. I was skeptical because I thought Pilates was for women, but I had a great time and Zonnie is amazing! She really knows how the body works and I really liked the individual attention I got from the 2:1 session. I highly recommend. Zonnie has been training me in Mat Pilates for about three years now. I am a past dancer and sustained many injuries to my knees and lower back over the years. The result was an inability to dance or move the way I wanted to. I thought that these were just the sort of things I would have to deal with and that they might worsen over time. I completely LOVE working out with Zonnie Bauer and the online classes work GREAT for me! Last year I had major abdominal surgery and hear I am six months later and definitely need to rebuild my core. Zonnie is so gifted in analyzing the body. Both my husband and I went to her for constant aches in our hips and lower back. She was able to immediately point out areas to focus on and worked with us over the next 10 sessions. This was my first time doing PIlates therapy. Prior to this I saw a PT and Chiropractor. Both of these only worked on parts of the body while Zonnie had a whole body approach. I would highly recommend visiting Zonnie and at minimum doing her 3 sessions for body evaluation. read more

I've actually known Zonnie off and on since around 1989/1990. She is a great trainer, very patient, takes care to make sure that you are getting what you need out of the work-out. She definitely deals with "the person in front of her" in terms of understanding what they can and can't do, and what they are trying to accomplish. I like this because "other places" I have felt like I am one person among a giant crowd and while that's fine, you are pretty much mostly "on your own". Zonnie never makes me feel like that. I think Zonnie is just terrific! She has such a command of the body and how it works. A physical therapist friend of mine says that 'there is Pilates and then there is exercise,' and I completely agree with him. Zonnie gives such a good, tailor-made workout! I waited until i finish 10th session in order to write a fair and honest review and so far Zonnie is a amazing pilates teacher! she is very knowledgeable about how the body works. She will figure out where your weakness is and can tailor the pilates program based on your own needs. During the sessions, Zonnie consistently checked my postures and corrected every single movement.  I've been to another pilate studio before trying Zonnie, but they didnt pay attention to minor details like zonnie does. Zonnie Seriously changed my life. I took some 1 on 1 classes and by the end of it her classes had corrected by posture, made me stronger, feel younger and helped me get my next belt test in taekwondo. Which requires tumbling. I would have never been able to do this before. I am also a filmmaker, we have to stand on our feet and direct for anywhere to 10-15 hours. She has helped me strengthen my core so I can do this comfortabley. I also had a c section, which cut accross my stomach muscles that were numb. As a full time dancer, and religious gym junkie i was crushed when I got injured with two herniated disks in my back. I thought it was the end of my career, because at 18 years old with that type of injury is very uncommon. zonnie is an amazing pilates instructor. she does a full analysis of your posture, weaknesses, and imbalances to figure out what you need to work on. she doesn't just throw you onto the equipment as if everyone has the same abilities and/or issues. she KNOWS classic pilates, which i really love, but she also knows rehab pilates, which is different and wonderful. most times when i walk out of a session i feel like i've gone to mind/body therapy - breathing, stretching, and sometimes even a little massage for an hour twice/week will make you feel good and strong. her session package prices are very reasonable. i highly recommend. read more
