    What a fantastic way to kick off 2016! I had always heard about how Pilates is a fantastic way to tone up your body, but didn't really give it a try. Until a few weeks back! And boy am I happy that I did. I bought a bundle deal from Groupon, $89 for 10 sessions which is a fantastic deal given the fact that each Wundabar class is $30.00. So that deal was a steal! I created an account online and picked my location which was Montrose since it's so close to me. Their classes tend to fill up pretty fast so if you have a specific schedule or want a specific instructor, you better hurry and book your classes in advance. What's so great about their schedule page is that above each instructor they have a little pop up that gives a little bit of history about them. Based on those little instructions I picked my instructors. I picked Nikki, and I'm so in love with her attitude and her routines. She is just always positive and she motivates you to do better! Brandon is also another person I tried who is very positive and has a sense of calmness to him that just instantly relaxes you. I got lucky in one of my classes and got Amy. She is the masterpiece behind Wundabar - and wow was she tough! I was so sore the next day and I LOVED IT! I think it's safe to say by now that I'm just in love with this woke out program and I plan on continuing it to get back into shape! Even though I wrote some tips, I will also list them here: *if it's your first time trying it, go about 10 minutes earlier so the instructor could show you how to use the machine. *there are parking spots in the front on Honolulu street, but if they're taken try the Chase parking lot across the street. *your first class is free. But be prepared to love it and keep coming back!

    First time at this studio and so far I like it. The only thing missing is cubbies to put your stuff in. There's also no sitting area. So far the class is challenging. Pretty much the usual reformer exercises.

My core was trembling five minutes in and my legs were questioning my life choices halfway through. In the best way possible. What I love most is that it feels intentional. It's not just fast reps. It's slow, controlled, focused movement that hits deep muscles. You walk out feeling taller, tighter, and strong instead of just sweaty. Perfect for toning, posture, and that sculpted look. I think they're lacking some basic things though that would stop me from making this my every day studio. One thing they're missing is a refillable water bottle station. I feel like providing water to your workout clients is kind of a must? Another thing I noticed is the reformers are too close together. There's no way you can have people doing legs circles and not touch legs. Same for exercises going across the width of the reformer: your head gets too close to your neighbors feet. I also hate that the cubbies for personal items are right by an open door in the back, so absolutely anyone could just grab your stuff. The set up is also very minimal, which on the plus side, means less clean up? But maybe limits what exercises you do. The classes I've had with Veronica have been amazing though, and I would ignore most of this stuff to keep doing classes with her!

Working with Zonnie has built up my core and strength overall. I'm more toned and have lost weight. But what I really need to recommend is working with Zonnie herself.     It is astonishing at how much improvement I have had and how quick it was…read more I had some old and newer injuries that affected balance, movement, walking, knee pain, lower back, hip, etc. It wasn't just that Zonnie knew the exercises that were correct, she knew exactly how to do them, what exact position, and what muscles to activate. She is keenly present from moment to moment observing, correcting, and controlling, and is a very competent, pleasant, and calming presence. Then there is a different way of breathing, standing, balancing, and operating one's body in day-to-day life, the training along with the exercises to activate the appropriate muscles. The improvement in my balance is huge, I was frequently tripping or bumping into things - no more. I love to stand up paddleboard, now my balance has improved so that I can paddle on rougher ocean water. I like hiking again - it had become tiring due to injuries. There are side benefits associated with the core exercises and breathing technique that has improved certain common difficulties associated with males of a certain age. Better sleep etc. My knee, lower back and hip pain seem to be in the past as well. It's a lot more fun to do the day-to-day stuff.
