This place is fantastic! The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly, and the owner Matteo is so nice! We ate here twice because we enjoyed it so much. My 14 year old son who loves carbonara and makes it at home was so impressed with the carbonara here. He got talking with Matteo about it and Matteo showed him the difference between the cheeses and the bacons to make a proper carbonara. I ordered the Rigatoni Alla Gricia and the Involtini Al Sugo. They weren't bad, but not that good. It would be ok if I had made this for myself at home, but I would have had notes for myself on how to improve. The woman server, who I did not have seemed very hospitable. The others were nice enough, but seemed to be ready to move me along. This is a paper napkin and a Applebees plastic menu kind of place. Who can go wrong in an Italian restaurant in Rome right? Right. After searching in the scorching European sun for a nice place with air conditioning at a good price point, we stumbled on this place! The atmosphere is really nice and there's a lot to look at. They have a menu with something for everyone. Their house wines are phenomenal and everyone gets a sample at dessert. The gnocchi wasn't the best I've had in Italy but it was delicious none the less. The pizzas are very large, one is probably enough for 3-4 people. My favorite thing to do in Italy was order a pizza to share and pasta dish to eat, as well as having a glass of real champagne. We ate here on our way home from sight seeing and looked at the trip advisor reviews to find a restaurant nearby. Usually trip advisor does not disappoint, but this time it did. I ordered the eggplant entree and it was rather greasy and nothing special. I've had better back home in the states. My husband & I shared the gnocchi which was drenched in cheese- again we've had better. My husband ordered the beef involtini and it was not tasty- the beef had no flavor. The Italian house red wine was good- I never met a wine I didn't like! They did bring us a tasty cherry wine sample after dinner- which was nice & different. They did speak good English. The service was very slow, but we found this to be the case almost everywhere in Rome. I read about this restaurant online as being one of the best restaurants in Rome so I wanted to try it. It's definitely on a touristy, restaurant packed street but was still wonderful! I ordered their special appetizer for the night which were artichokes along with the carbonara. The artichokes were good but as someone who is just generally not an artichoke fan I wouldn't order them again, nothing against theirs. The carbonara was honestly amazing and perhaps the best I've had; I asked for rigatoni instead of spaghetti and ended up with spaghetti but I still loved it. The portions were reasonable to large, leaving me too full for dessert. The wines are also very reasonably priced. I ordered two glasses for 11 euros total. read more

I am not a fan of caprese salad normally, because I've only had it in North America, but when I tried it here I became a fan because of the fresh buffalo cheese! It was divine! The reason I gave 4 stars was because the cacio e pepe was salty, and the sauce was bit thick. I've had it else where so I was able to compare it. However I do appreciate the pasta being handmade, and once you try that, there's no going back lol, atleast for me. Other than that, the tiramisu was like nothing I've had before! 5 stars just because the manager offered excellent service. Also, this was one of the better restaurants in terms of the quality of the food. We found that great food in Rome is hard to come by. We first came here for dinner, and I believe we ordered fried mozzarella, steamed mussels, and mozzarella di bufala pizza. All three definitely did not disappoint. The fried mozzarella was deep fried bready goodness with gooey cheese in the middle. I was pleasantly surprised to find a thin crusted pizza that was perfectly crisp. The juices that the steamed mussels were could in were absolutely delicious. I actually sipped a little bit of it because it was that good. We ended up coming back here to enjoy a Euro League game, and the manager kindly allowed us to enjoy it while sipping on drinks. read more

Lovely place close to piazza Navona to grab a bite. It's quite an informal place but the food is great and so is the ambiance. The people who run the place are super nice. I ordered a salad and it was delicious and the people with me ate a dish with different typical Italian meals which included meat and vegetables and, according to them, it was delicious as well. The night I had dinner in this place it was filled with Irish people singing and celebrating the results of a hockey match. I wasn't part of that crowd but I had an amazing time. read more

Guanciale was perfect with sauce. Al dente rigatoni served piping hot. Lasagna was 8.5/10 and the Coda 9/10. So glad we had to walk out on the touristy perfume laden Bernini in Piazza Navona to wind up at our backup. A solid 4 stars, considering the proximity to the touristy area of Piazzo Navano. The first thing I will tell you is that they should be known for their craft contrails. We didn't have any, but we witnessed the care and "craft" they used in making any of of the many cocktails. The food is better than your average bar. In our tour of Europe, we learned the difference between a "Bar", a "Cafe" and a "Restaurant". In the US, we sometimes use the terms interchangeably, but to my point, even though this is more of a "Bar", the food was very good. What did we have?? First, of course we tried the veal saltimbocca. We also shared "rosemary ravioli" and "tortellini caico e pepe". We could never get used to eating so much food nor the course order that is used in Italy. We ate all three of these as our main dishes and shared them. English was very good for all of the servers. Finally, we sat by the window and had great people watching. There are tables outside, but it was too hot for us to enjoy it. The one thing I will caution you against is using their "free" wifi. It requires you to enter your Facebook account info and Like Saltimbocca. Later that day, Facebook emailed both my wife and me asking us to change our password because of suspected fraud. read more

this was my wife and my last meal in rome before we left. one of my goals in italy was to get some seafood pasta and saltimbocca delivered. it's also one of few restaurants i've found that make drinks. i got the italian mojito which was delicious and my wife ordered the berry fizz which was really good too. i ordered the seafood spaghetti and fried calamari and shrimp and my wife ordered the spicy salami pizza. the salami was spicy! we've ordered this pizza from somewhere else before and it wasn't too spicy, but this one has a kick! which i love. the seafood spaghetti was delicious and felt like it had more mussels than noodles (in a great way)!. it was also super filling. my goal for the night was to stuff myself as much as possible to enjoy our last meal in rome. i didn't even get to eat much of the fried calamari i was so stuffed from the spaghetti. i really wish i ate the fried calamari in the restaurant because the couple that i had were so light and crispy. by the time i ate it at home it had gotten soggy. it's also not as salty as fried calamari you would get in the states. i wish it was seasoned a little more, but i'm not complaining. i'd say it's still worth ordering if you like calamari. great place for seafood and drinks! read more
