Tanks were dirty. Fish did not look healthy. Just didn't get a good feeling about this place.

They are phenomenal, btw. Went to give new ownership a go and they are almost as bad. I asked for medium pre-killed rats. I was told "oh there's been a law for two years now...that's illegal." (uh....then how do the frozen rats die?) Whatever, ok, I'll take the frozen. What I was given were the tiniest "medium rats" I've ever seen. I admit, my bad for not looking at them first before being placed in the paper bag. Also, I have NEVER not been asked "do you want to see how big they are?" first. Again, just terrible business practices here. They weighed in at 2.2 ounces. An AVERAGE sized medium rat should weigh in at 3.5 oz. They are claiming "it's been a law for 2 years that we can't pre-kill rats for you. We can sell them to you either alive or already frozen." Well, guess what kids. That isn't a thing. CA penal code section 597 (animal cruelty law) states that animals can be euthanized as long as the death is humane. (Humane is typically categorized as rapid unconsciousness and immediate death with as minimal pain as possible). The way rats are killed in a reptile shop is with a swift bop on the head. Which falls within that penal code. So, do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else for your feeders.

I've been a loyal customer here for almost 2 years and even though I've since moved away, I still…read morehappily make the 3-hour round-trip drive just to get all my birds and supplies here. I breed birds as a hobby and this is my go-to place for everything I need. I recommend this store on social media bird groups and to everyone else I meet who need cages, food, and supplies. The quality and prices are unbeatable. A lot of my friends and family come here I won't feed my birds anything other than magnolias seed. A 25-lb bag of high quality parakeet food is around $17 here, and I can even get 50-lb bag for about $30. You won't find prices like that anywhere else, and even the most expensive seed online or at big-box pet stores doesn't come close in quantity or quality and will cost you 4x as much. On the rare occasion I've run out and had to buy seed elsewhere, my birds wouldn't even touch the dyed and pesticide filled garbage from the big stores. Their nest boxes are also the absolute best! My birds will only lay eggs in their boxes for some reason. They are thoughtfully and well made and even have concave bottoms ! Over time I've bought about 15 cages here, along with 3 stands, dozens of nest boxes, a lot of birds, toys, water and food dispensers, medicine, supplements and accessories. I've been here well over 30 times and have spent thousands of dollars. Everything I have bought has held up great! No regrets. All birds are still healthy and breeding. The older gentlemen you will find here has been an absolute godsend. His knowledge and willingness to help with advice has saved many of my birds and helped me reach my breeding goals. He's truly the go-to person for anything bird-related, but just walking through the aviaries to see the beautiful birds here, is worth the drive alone. The only kink in this place is, as you'll see in other reviews, is the older ladies at the registers can be rude and dismissive. If you have thin skin, there is one lady in particular who might really hurt your feelings. The first time we came in, my husband and I almost walked out leaving $300 of merchandise/birds on the counter because she rolled her eyes and scoffed at us when we couldn't find the location of a product. She then made us feel like 2nd class citizens during the entire checkout process. My husband and I still laugh about it because it was so bizzare. Anyhow, I am a die hard loyal customer and it's still the same thing everytime I go to that register. Though its felt personal at times, I've learned that this is likely not the case. She was the same way to my best friend and my sister when they came in to buy things for their birds . This place is old school in that way so don't take it personal or waste your time feeling offended. Put your feelings in your pocket before you go to the register and don't miss out on this gem for bird lovers. Magnolia bird farm is hands down the only place I recommend for bird supplies and birds.

I've been taking my dog there for a while & this time she just kept finding every reason to not groom my dog. I've been taking him there for so long & they never gave me a problem, till today she didn't want to give him a bath. She was just horrible, I won't ever go there again. Idk how she works there with her disgusting attitude. Btw I'm not racist but she was a white girl with colored eyed. She doesn't know how to talk to clients. So unprofessional..

When my son finally seemed ready for a pet we agreed on a hamster, did our research and went to Petco. This was a few months ago now but the interaction has stuck with me and I want to share it here- my sons first pet purchase was entirely overshadowed if not ruined by the Petco woman employee who got the hamster out for us. Without skipping a beat she immediately spoke to my son as if he had done something wrong, spoke so condescendingly and rudely to him about how to care for the animal, I did cut her off and lied and said we were short on time but I wish I had told her the way she was talking to my kid wasn't ok and took my business elsewhere. We haven't and will not be back. My son left nearly in tears clutching his new little friend. Employee was 50ish, mid length brown hair, and just so mean. I wish I would've gone to a locally owned pet store instead.
