Well ... it's another 5 star review. We drove in from Belfast straight to Salt Whatf (like we knew what we were doing)), took a free water taxi over to Peter Ott's Restaurant, and we were immediately given a wonderful table overlooking the water. We shared an extremely generous serving of seafood risotto that was sublime as well as an equally delicious beet salad. We were blessed to have Natalie as our server. She is quite wonderful!!! read more

Update: the manager reached out right away. She said she's looking into this and was very empathetic. So likely just a mistake on someone's part some were in their processes. Let me preface and say I don't think there was any explicit wrong doing here but.. 8/25 my friend and I attended their roof bar. and we both contracted stomach cramps and all that follows with it the very next day. We didn't eat but we drank out of glasses. I had no ice. Just beer in a glass. There is a dishwasher up stairs that must not be functioning correctly. Or one can safely assume. read more

We two made our meal of appetizers that were all flavorful, nicely done and perfect portions for an appetizer - deviled eggs with caviar (4 halves), fiercely vinegary pickled beets, mussels, roasted spiced carrots and a side of fluffy, seared focaccia and Romesco sauce. This is not a Big Portions place so don't expect that. They were Just Right portions. Airy, spacious with good service, an easy going vibe and some seats with great views of boats & Camden across the harbor. We parked downtown Camden and walked around the harbor to get to Salt Wharf. Meaning we got to walk off some of the meal on the way back. A perfect summer meal for a perfect summer afternoon. Will def go back. read more

Salt Wharf - Deviled egg with Oestra caviar on baby arugula. - Seafood Near Me - Camden, Maine

The rooftop bar of Salt Wharf runs like a separate restaurant, with an abbreviated menu and its own kitchen and bar. The view is very good. Service is also good. But this is the rooftop bar, not the restaurant. The Shrimp Cocktail was good. The grilled chicken on both the Salt Wharf Salad and Caesar Salads was chewy and dry; they added a fine mixture onto the Caesar salad that didn't add anything. read more

This is a cute little restaurant on the warf. Has a great rooftop and very nice bartenders. We ate here a couple of times on our stay at Camden. First was lunch on the rooftop with drinks. I was hoping to try their deviled eggs, but they are only served in the restaurant after 4:00 pm. We both had the lobster rolls. Ample amount of lobster. Crispy buttery "toast". In my personal opinion, I wish there was a little more mayo. I like mine to be a little more "wet" and it really pulls all the flavors. We also had dinner. I was able to try the deviled eggs. They are gooood. Perfectly boiled and the filling was piped very nicely. Firm and good flavors. We did add the caviar. Caviar was good, nice amount of salty kick. My husband was not as impressed with the caviar. Said it was better without. He ordered the Roasted Halibut (asparagus, roasted fingerlings, cherry tomato, lemon caper beerre blanc.) He said it was cook perfectly great blending flavors. Only compliant, it was a small piece of fish. I orders the Fra Diavolo (maine lobster, linguine, calabrian chile) Wow. This was soo delicious. Lobster in anything is a must. The linguine was perfect. The sauce. Of the sauce was light and flavorful. I loved that it had a nice heat and spice but it was not overwhelming. I think this would also be nice for someone that is not a fan of spicy. Our waitress Emma was wonderful! read more

We had a lovely view of the water as we sipped our cocktails - a dirty martini and a cucumber drink that were both very good. The halibut was super delish with a crispy sear and very yummy beurre blanc sauce. The asparagus was nicely grilled and so tasty. We also got the citrus carrots that were perfectly cooked. Our waitress was good but a little too quick to clear the table at times. Had to guard my drink that still had a sip left lest she whisk it away. This is a really nicely decorated dining room with a romantic vibe. read more

We went for dinner our first night. It was very expensive and the food was a bit new age. I had gigante beans which was good but an entire entree was a bit much. These tasted just like the Greek gigante beans w a tomato sauce. My husband had the spicy lobster linguini was good. The shrimp cocktail was ok. We went back our last night and sat up top outside at the bar overlooking the bay. We LOVED it! Our bartender made the most delicious frozen blueberry margaritas. Honestly, we wanted the entire rooftop to try them. We wish we could remember the bartender's name because he was outstanding. We also tried the shrimp and oysters. Both were great. For some reason the shrimp were bigger. They also must soak them in an Old Bay's mixture because the taste was great. It truly was the perfect way to end our trip! I'd definitely go back for the rooftop bar for drinks and apps. read more

The vista alone is worth the price of admission. But the cooking and presentation are on par with the view. Deviled eggs with caviar are a splurge, but each bite is a delight. Steak, scallop, and halibut entrees were very good. The creamed corn on the risotto highlighted the goodness of Maine corn. Cocktails are good, desserts an afterthought. read more

Came by the rooftop prior to, and through happy hour. It was not very busy yet and we were able to have our choice of seats. There is some seating under a fabric roof providing some shade. The oyster shooters were super fun and mussels tasty (though oysters/mussels were on the small side). I tried the trout dip as well, and may have ordered if we stayed longer. I enjoyed my cucumber cocktail. The server didn't seem to know much about happy hour upon asking. Happy hour here means everything is 10% off (no special menu). Prices are a little high here, but you're paying a premium for the location, view and atmosphere. read more

I would recommend calling for reservations. We were tourists and called on way from airport. Luckily we got a table. Ambiance very romantic. Right on the water. We headed upstairs to bar and enjoyed the gorgeous view of harbor. Our server was excellent. She suggested places we could go for live lobster. Very helpful. Food excellent. We had oysters- buttery fresh! We split the fish special and carrots. Highly recommend. We both had 2 drinks. I think the bill came to $150. Overall a lovely evening and great start to our Maine trip. read more

Ate here on Sunday night at 6pm, while the Camden Int'l Film Festival was in session. As someone who has spent a couple decades in food service, the experience was very much sub-par. I'm not one to name and shame, and certainly not here since our waitress never introduced herself. She did hand out menus, and take drink and dinner orders, but was otherwise absent, in all senses of the word. To begin, the water for the table was a liter bottle split among four adults, and portioned into the silliest little glasses I have ever seen. I suspect they got a deal on tea-light holders and decided to use them for drinking glasses. After finishing my silly little water, the drinks eventually arrived. No mixed drinks, just two glasses of wine and a can of hard cider. The wine arrived, the cider did not. Since this was early in the experience, I waited some minutes for it before mentioning to the passing host/greeter that I was waiting on it. A couple of minutes later it arrived. Okay, fair enough. Stuff happens. The entrees arrived a short time later, via food runner. The grilled focaccia for the table did not. After mentioning this to the runner, our waitress made a brief appearance to tell us that it was on the grill right now. The focaccia was eventually delivered, once again by a runner, barely warmed, and certainly not grilled. After this we didn't see our waitress again. She did not check in on us and ask if we could use some more drinks, how the food was, would we like some more water; all the things that customer service entails. I had to flag her down once to ask for salt (neither salt nor pepper are present on the tables), once to ask for refill on the water, to get dessert menus, and finally to get the check. I've worked customer service in many different jobs including food service. I'm extremely sympathetic to what these folks do, and I absolutely understand what's involved. At no point did our waitress apologize, provide an excuse, or even acknowledge that anything was amiss. She was both mentally and physically absent for the greater part of our meal. This was not due a large seating. We made reservations, arrived on time, and there were multiple open tables. I suspect, and hope for her sake, that she was extremely new at the job and untrained. This is based on the fact that she was wearing white sneakers without non-slip soles with her predominantly black waitress attire. Then again, the host was wearing navy-blue pants with black sneakers and a black top, so I could be wrong. All in all, the service was abysmal, and the food was a journeyman effort at best. The menu is not large, and quite a few of the sauces make repeat appearances in different dishes. The pommes frites are regular fries, dressed up with parmesan and herbs, and also appear in several dishes. This frequent repetition of components rather restricts choice. Additionally, the steak present with my steak frites was haphazardly pre-sliced (why?), and the steak knife was late to arrive. They say presentation is half of taste. Strictly on flavor, the food was not offensive, nor did it shine. The service made dinner unpleasant, and I'm disinclined to return again. Two stars because the harbor looks nice. It happened to be raining when we ate, but I've seen it before on a good day and it's lovely. Hopefully this was also just a "rain day" for the hostess as well. read more

Came here with a reservation (recommended) on a weeknight, and it was pretty busy. We got some deviled eggs with caviar and I ordered the scallops. The eggs were fantastic, and as someone who very rarely indulges in caviar, I enjoyed the flavor it added. The scallops were delicious as well, perfectly cooked with the right amount of sweetness from the fruit. Service was very polite and helpful, and the place is thoughtfully decorated. They also have a rooftop bar with a nice view, where we went after dinner for a beer. Highly recommend for a good meal! read more

The food was SPECTACULAR! Deviled eggs were amazing it was my first time trying caviar and it was a delicious salty topping to my eggs! The steak was nicely cooked and juicy! The clams were very big and the sauce they were in was packed with flavor! The fish was nice and the veggies on the side were so good it was the best asparagus we've ever had! The service was good although they were out of a couple dishes we wanted, I don't blame them because we did come at 8:30 and they close at 9:00, so we had to compromise and try some new dishes but we were very pleased with them! We sat on a nice booth over looking the waterfront, just beautiful! Definitely come down in Camden, this was one of our best meals of the trip! read more

My first experience at Salt Wharf was certainly a good one! First, the juxtaposition of architecture between the older part of Camden, and this newly developed area is very innovative. The design of the space is very cool with glass garage doors being opened up when the weather is good. The bar was small, but great looking, and definitely a cool place to sit if I was there alone. The food was quite good, and some dishes had a twist. We tasted a variety of menu items including the oysters with Black lime mignonette, the deviled eggs with caviar and the local mussels. All were excellent. Dinner was steak frites with one of the better chimmichuri sauces that I have ever eaten for sure. The lobster roll had some pickled vegetables in it including carrots, which seemed out of place, but I was told it was good. Our server was very knowledgeable, and fortunate for us, the weather was absolutely perfect. Can't beat the view of Camden Harbor. read more

Excellent food, beautiful location and great service! Recommend the free water taxi over!

Great food, great ambience, great wait staff. Everything we ordered was great. Will definitely be back again

The food was good, but unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. Our waitress was unfriendly and seemed irritated with us from the beginning. She rarely came over to our table, and we had to wait for her attention when we needed something. While we enjoyed the food, the poor service took away from the overall dining experience. I hope the restaurant can improve its customer service and fire this waitress! read more

Located right on the wharf in a beautiful setting. Reservations recommended as the space is a little on the smaller side for the dinning area. Plenty of free parking. Our table was off to the side very close to another party so I wasn't super thrilled about that but it was a pleasant experience all the same. Beautiful bar and well crafted cocktails. We had the steak frites with truffle fries and the halibut. Both were well prepared and delicious. Perfect place for dinner and drinks or go for drinks and dessert! read more

As my friend went to sit down she asked if the seat was wet. It had recently rained. The waitress said "no" but when she sat down it became apparent the waitress was mistaken. Lunch: ordered mussels. They were fine. I ordered blackened fish sandwich. Could not find the fish under all the mayonnaise and all very greasy. $23. My friend had smashed burger, same disappointment.$23. One Bloody Mary small but passable. Entire bill for two for lunch $105. Not to return. read more

I have never felt like a restaurant was purposely giving terrible service until The Salt Wharf did exactly that. Ceviche was wonderful. Everything else was ZERO STARS. Restaurant was mostly empty. Our Server was completely indifferent and dismissive. The wait for a menu, and to order, and to be served was inexcusable. The server did not have the guts to bring us the check -- she made the hostess bring it. The hostess apologized and said she was so sorry but could not comp anything because there was no manager on site. Whatever. read more

Not a good choice if you have a group! They will only seat you on the patio. We had several families meeting in Camden and thought looking over the water would be entertaining for the kids, unfortunately it is a bar no kids menu! My husband and I made reservations for dinner here for his birthday which is on 7/4. The food was amazing. The chef graciously accommodated some food sensitivities and adjusted the dish I wanted to have. Incredible. Every aspect of this meal and experience in this restaurant was top notch. The ambiance is the reason to go to this place. It is wonderfully bright and great people/boat watching. The service is also fantastic- I was offered a sample of the rose I was ordering without asking. I really enjoyed the deviled eggs with pickled veg and the homemade chips and dip. My entree was disappointing (the halibut dish but they are substituting tuna for halibut right now) and not up to par with the other dishes and didn't taste like what it cost. If I go back, it will be for apps and drinks, and really enjoy that view! read more

Went here for dinner on a whim while visiting from Texas. Only seats available were at the bar so we took them... and boy was it worth it!! The bar tenders were absolutely phenomenal along with all the food!! The oysters were out of this world good! Briny start with a nice meaty finish! Was a little curious about the black lime mignonette that went with them, but this was definitely a delicious change and nice addition! The mussels were also out of this world! Done deliciously with a light white wine sauce... Our main course was the Lobster risotto!! OMG! This was heavenly! I cannot imagine a more earthy herby deliciousness than this! It was done beautifully! And the lobster was so sweet and delicate! To top it off we were able to watch the fireworks for the Windjammer festival! Highly recommend this place and will definitely one again! read more

We had a lovely opening day dinner here last week, with good food and a really lovely environment looking out over the harbor. We've been here several times before. Service was a bit slow, but it was their first night so it was not an issue. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I do have one grip, namely the menu, where they pair wines with food items. The wines they choose are outrageous - pairing a hamburger with a $200 bottle? And pairing other items with $100 and $140 bottles? i guess they think this brings in the fellas with the 100 foot yachts, but it sure turns me off. I guess they don't want local customers! read more
