Great little place. Albeit the menu is small but everyone found something they wanted. They have a great happy hour 3-5 and 25% off food. We had oysters both raw and grilled. We also had the bao buns which were good but could use a bit of sauce. I had the duck salad and it was great. Others had the ramen, fish and birra tacos. Alls were very well received. Alas they close for the season October 12th. Wish they stayed open thru the winter. read more

We were there tonight; walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation. They were able to seat us in the bar area and we had an amazing evening! Service was excellent; food was amazing! We started with local oysters that were tasty and fresh. Then my husband had the cod with crispy rice and I decided to pick 2 starters as my mains; the tuna crudo and lobster hand roll. All great! Topped it off with a chocolate ganache with the most intense strawberry coulis I've tested in a while; it was fingerlicking good! All people we met were super friendly and helpful, so definitely would recommend stopping in Bucks restaurant when you're in the area. read more

New owners, New menu. A mix of traditional American food like "Smash burger" and lasagnap with more Asian influences. A more limited menu with small plates and larger dishes. Bright, clean,cheerful decor with Maine art on the walls. Our server who was pleasant, willing and very attractive just graduated from high school with no experience still did a terrific job of meeting all our needs. The food was beautiful and very tasty. My cod was poached in a bright acidic ponzo flavored sauce was cooked perfectly with the silken texture which is hard to achieve except with very exact cooking. It was served over cooked scallions and was one of the best things I have eaten this summer. Simple salad was fresh and perfect. 2 pieces of toasted sourdough bread was an extra charge. Lasangna was vegetarian with a slightly spicy fresh tomato sauce and a generous portion attractively presented. For dessert we has a outstanding grapefruit sorbet and a luscious blueberry sauced tres leches cake. We had an overall great experience and the new young and friendly owners have done a wonderful transformation of well beloved restaurant. read more

Somewhere in a tiny harbor town in the far west of the beautiful Blue Hill Peninsula, down a little side road, in an alley behind the general store, is Buck's restaurant, a bright, immaculately renovated space where attentive and friendly servers bring out extremely delicious food. The new owners of Bucks have created something really special, another example of the Blue Hill food scene punching way above its weight. Normally an eclectic menu like this would be a major red flag, but somehow the execution make the Asian and Mexican influences work. I did not expect an innovative take on _rice_ in a backroad Maine restaurant but the culinary geniuses at Buck's did it. Molded into a square, seared on a griddle, nestled in a dashi-like broth and topped with Cantonese ginger-scallion sauce, this rice would make Manhattanites stand in line. The burger even won over this smash sceptic. It's among the best if it's kind I've ever had. And don't get me started on the cocktails and desserts. To sum up- Bucks is an awesome little place. Food-lovers fortunate enough to be driving the back roads of Down East Maine - or sailing its scenic bays - should go without hesitation. read more

Buck's Restaurant is beyond a 5 Star restaurant. Having traveled the world over the last 30 Years, I've been fortunate enough to dine at some pretty amazing, top of the top, restaurants. Buck's Restaurant is at the very top of my list now. When you step into Buck's, you immediately feel a sense of elegance, and creative style all around you. I started off with Alaskan Snow crab as an appetizer. It was delightfully out of this world. Presented beautifully, with yuzu beurre blanc sauce, it looked and tasted so great, just right! Next up, a blood orange vinaigrette salad. The salad was refreshing and felt like an energetic, splash of light. A refreshing and uplifting adventure, so tasty, I was all in! The main course was the Rack of Lamb. I was absolutely floored by how delicious and captivating this Main Course was. You can tell that the Lamb was of the highest caliber of meat one can wish to dine on. Cooked perfectly, this was one of my very favorite dishes I've ever eaten. I've traveled to Greece and I can say without a doubt, this was the best lamb I have ever had. Presented with crushed pistachios and a tasteful amount of hot honey, accompanied by some of the tastiest pureed potatoes one could wish to have. I was in pure ecstasy eating this fabulously rich and filling dish. At this point, I wasn't sure I would have any room for dessert. However, there was no way I could pass up trying Buck's Chocolate Mousse. Chef Phil Le Breton informed me that the Mousse was made from a select batch of Belgian Chocolate. I believe him, I was in my glory. My taste buds experienced a perfectly sweet, seductive chocolate mousse that just was frankly heaven. If you want the very best, look no further than Buck's Restaurant. It's privately cool, the food is creative and expertly prepared. The staff is highly professional, always there when you need them, but a focus on giving you the privacy and space to enjoy your company and meal. Hands down, my favorite restaurant. read more

Wine by the glass was limited but one can select a bottle from the extensive list of varietals. The white onion & leek soup & truffle oil was a palate pleasing starter. Chef LeBreton & his sous chef came table-side 2 describe how he prepared the evening special of Halibut, filleted from a 180 pound fish he personally caught in Penobscot Bay. Spectacular dining experience!! The restaurant is tucked away behind the Bucks Harbor Market down a floral lined pathway. The interior decor is chic and neat with soothing colors and lighting. 2 exterior seating areas as we were seated on the quiet and charming back porch. Loved the bar area- Very fun style. Our server Chelsea was delightful as she warmly greeted us and remembered us from a former restaurant in Blue Hill. Excellent service as she discussed the restaurant offerings and specialities. We enjoyed a 3 sheets cocktail with local mussels in a tasty Thai coconut curry sauce and local greens salad that was fresh, crisp and flavorful. A basket of homemade corn muffins were served with soft and creamy butter. Our main course was the linguine with a creamy, caper white sauce. Great flavors and a generous portion. I enjoyed the prime beef tenderloin. It was perfectly cooked medium rare that was tender and flavorful. A silky Demi-glacé sauce with generous shavings of truffles!!! Smooth, creamy potatoes and a simple grilled veggie medley. A light and flavorful glass of Pinot Noir accompanied our meal. It was perfectly plated and presented with care. You could feel the flavors pop from the plate!! We shared the chocolate lava cake and some homemade sorbet. Delicious and decadent. Chef Paul took a moment to say hello and we were able to congratulate him directly for a spectacular meal!! I loved everything about our evening and our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant. We made a reservation using the open table app. We ended up having a scheduling conflict, so we called and left a message to see if we could reschedule. The restaurant cancelled our reservation without returning our call and charge my card $50. We called the restaurant to find out why no one returned our call and why our reservation was cancelled without speaking to us first. The woman we spoke with said she would have a manager call us. No one has ever returned our call or responded to our email. We never received a refund for the fee. The woman we did speak to on the phone was very rude. A five star culinary find on the Blue Hill peninsula! Thank you Chef Phil for the memorable dinner and festive setting for my birthday celebration! There were fourteen of us and everyone commented on how delicious the food was. My husband and I both had the beef tenderloin with the Demi glaze and others had the halibut wellington which received rave reviews. The icing on the cake was your special chocolate mousse birthday cake which we all enjoyed . Overpriced mediocre food. This restaurant spent all of its efforts to create a pleasant ambiance, and little to make good, tasty food. The mussels my wife ate were tiny and obviously farmed, not fresh. The sauce was overly spicy, when real mussels should be cooked with onions, garlic and little else. The halibut dish I got was a disaster. It was mashed up fish in a kind of bread sandwich, with little taste, certainly not the natural taste of halibut. Again, this fish should be cooked in butter and seasoning, letting the taste of the fish come through. It came with a salad mixed with canned mandarin orange slices, not a good look. The wine was overpriced, as was the espresso. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. read more

This has been and still is one of the most outstanding restaurants in the area. The location at Bucks Harbor in South Brooksville is out of the way but well worth a drive down the scenic Coastal Road. The short walkway past plantings of herbs and flowers and the Peter Beerits sculpture of a life sized couple sitting down to dinner sets the mood. There was a young man shucking clams and oysters at a shiny metal serving cart in the alleyway which further whet our appetite. The décor inside is subdued and elegant with high ceilings, art works on the walls and earth colors. The servers are in dark uniforms and are pleasant, professional and always ready to welcome us and make sure we are well taken care of. Every little detail has been well thought out and adds to the experience. There is a nice wine list and some innovative and delicious cocktails. I had a "3 Sheets to The Wind" which was plenty large and strong with an allspice flavor which was a pleasant surprise. The other choices were equally different and sounded delicious. They had no sparkling wine by the glass which was a little disappointing. The bread service included some nice sweet corn muffins with pieces of corn and some chewy yeasty squares of very good sour dough bread sprinkled with a lot of sea salt. The menu seems largely unchanged from last year which is to say it is short and well imagined. Sadly not all the food was just as perfect as I remembered from previous years. The gazpacho had too many raw onions which overpowered the dish. Grilled Shrimp Spiedini on the other hand was just about perfect, grilled shrimp skewered with basil, tomatoes and Mozzarella with a nice olive oil and balsamic dressing, like a Capresse salad on a skewer. The Acadian Jambalaya was tasty with sausage and seafood but was just much too salty for my taste. Again, I do not recall it being so salty last year. The Pollock was terrific as were the deserts. Prices were rather high. The oysters were fresh and tasty with a nice mignonette and a red cocktail sauce but at $2.50 a piece I could not bring myself to order too many. Drinks were $12. Over all, a great restaurant that just missed being 5 stars by some small slips. read more

We came to an early dinner and we welcomed into the beautiful hidden space of Buck's. The dinner menu changes and we started with a cold spicy gazpacho followed by a perfectly dressed seafood salad. A warm assortment of breads accompanied our entree- perfectly prepared Bluefish with a lemon cream sauce with fresh peas and spinach. They have a good selection of wines, beers and mixed drinks. This is a gem of a restaurant on the Bay with excellent service. read more

Small seasonal restaurant tucked away behind the Buck's Harbor Market (tip: the market, which is also very small, sells a few terrific but pricy items prepared by the restaurant staff -- we are fans of the marinaded olives and the soups and chowders, but not of the sandwiches, and are looking forward to seeing what else will be offered this year). The restaurant's emphasis is on local, seasonal fare (often sourced from the remarkable Blue Hill Peninsula farms and fisheries). Overall, really delicious food and appealing presentation. There's always a labor shortage in this area, but Jonathan manages to find attentive, friendly servers who add to the dining experience. The market and the restaurant have just had an extensive renovation and we are hoping everything will be even better than ever when they open soon for the 2019 season. A "5+" for a tiny rural town, but can be inconsistent, the menu is very limited, and the prices are definitely in the "special occasion" range (although very far from outrageous for city people from away). read more

Located at the western end of Eggamoggen Reach at Buck Harbor is an absolute mirage. This is in the middle of no where, located behind a very small convenience store, you will find a restaurant that tops most of the locations we have enjoyed all over the world. Total shock at the modern, open and stylish interior. The restaurant is small (30) seats, the menu limited and wonderful. There is large bar and good wine selection. With the first bite you know this place is special. The owner/chief presents fresh, beautiful, seasoned delights. We felt it was five star dinning at four star prices. The staff are local young men and women who are equally as charming while providing great service. We have been traveling for over a month a know this was going to be our top pick. Buck's Restaurant is going hard to exceed. read more

We stumbled upon Buck's years ago and couldn't believe our luck. We've made it a point to eat there whenever we're in the area, which has been annually since we got a boat and cruise these waters every summer. It's an easy walk from Buck's Harbor Marine. A reservation is required -- they fill up fast. Last night we started with excellent cocktails, a margarita and a mojito. The bread basket included little homemade corn muffins, which were a treat. For our entrees we both had the seafood stew, which was outstanding in both flavor and in presentation. Our waitress was perfect. In short, another home run for Buck's Restaurant. read more

Buck's Restaurant continues to be one of the best restaurants at which I have dined. I was there for the first time this summer last evening. They opened late this year due to renovations in the market with which it shares a kitchen & a few in the restaurant. I had poached halibut with a sherry cream sauce and lobster on it along with snap peas and fingerling potatoes. As usual, it was great! The combination of tastes and textures all complemented each other, again as usual. The bread continues to be superior & the service attentive without being intrusive. I'm not sure I saw local artists works on the walls as in the past, I will take greater note when I undoubtedly rerun. My friends were equally delighted as I with their entrees (one the same as mine & the other had the beef tenderloin). Dessert, mocha mousse, chocolate peanut butter parfait & a latte were equally as wonderful as the entrees. read more
