Formerly Smokin' T's Bar & Grill, Salt Bistro has opened their BBQ restaurant and bar at the corner of US 3 & NH 135 in Lancaster. They have another restaurant in St. Johnsbury, VT serving mostly Italian and Mediterranean food. The place has a full service dining room to the right and a cozy bar area with seating at the full service bar and a few high top tables. There is also outdoor deck seating.
The food menu offers pub and BBQ fare including a selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads, steaks, pasta, fried seafood, smoked BBQ (ribs, chicken, pulled pork, wings), prime rib (Fridays), smoked brisket (Saturdays), and desserts. They also have specials too. The bar offers 4-6 beers on draft, bottle/can beers, wine, cocktails and mixed drinks. The prices are moderate.
I stopped by Salt Bistro Smokehouse recently for a late lunch. The place wasn't busy, with the dining room empty, so I headed to the bar area and took a seat at the bar. The bartender offered a drink and gave me a menu. I got an ice water and ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($17 plus tax) served with fries and dill pickle spears. The food came out in about 10 minutes after ordering. The sandwich was a good size with plenty of soft BBQ pulled pork over Asian pear slaw and minimal sweet BBQ sauce on a thick soft potato bun. The pulled pork was not piping hot, but the golden fries with skins was very hot and good. I finished the food and got the check which was $18.45 (cash)/$19.19 (non-cash) with tax and before tip. The patrons next to me ordered the Fried Mushrooms and Chipotle Sausage Pasta, both looked pretty good.
Overall, a good relaxed place to stop for food. The TV in the bar was playing nonstop 1980s hair band music videos such as White Lion, Poison, Cheap Trick, Firehouse and others. I would stop back here for another meal if I happen to be driving through Lancaster. read more
