This place was tucked away over on Mill and Baseline. When I went in it was actually cleaner than most of the ones I go to. It was small as well but there were more flavors of thrifty ice cream than I've seen at the others and they really drew me in! How could I resist, I just had to get a waffle cone and I selected strawberry cheesecake and salted caramel for my two flavors (I could have picked 10). Thrifty Ice Cream has gotten pretty expensive over the years but the servings I got at this location were huge! The only down side to my experience was I asked for a chocolate dipped waffle (which was a dollar more) but he must have forgotten and gave me a regular. I won't hold that against him because I placed my order then took my water out to my car before going back in to get my ice cream. The guy working was very nice and pleasant as well. All in all I HAVE to give this spot 5 stars for being open when others were closed AND the serving size I received.

Came with a small group of friends for an evening of sweet treats; first time for us to be here…read more Let me start by saying, the 4 stars are for the product itself...I would have truly given 2 stars for the two young men working that evening. Having never been, it took us some time to get the feel of the treats, watch others order, study the menu and then deciding on what to order. Several others in our group had been previously and they all had suggestions as well to share. Both of us got a small Jelati, which is a layered mix of Italian Ice and soft serve ice cream...you can also choose to have toppings like sprinkles, Oreo cookie crumbs, butter cookies, etc. I decided on the Key West Tropical (a wonderful tasting mix of pineapple, mango, passion fruit, banana, and coconut) layered with vanilla soft-serve and no toppings. Also, I choose the small size which was actually perfect for a tasty treat. The Jelati itself was so good...creamy and the Tropical ice was amazing and so made me want to be in the tropics! Wife decided on the lemon ice layered with vanilla and no toppings. She loved it but did say it needed a tad more of that lemon tart flavor. We will come back to try some of the other flavor combos...highly recommend this place for nice, cool, summer treat! Now on to the reason I initially said I would give 2 stars for the employees. As I was watching them make treats, I observed no gloves, I observed both touching their faces and hair, rubbing hands on pants, etc. When I was asked about ordering, I specifically asked that the young man making the treats please wash his hands and glove up, to which I got a look from the one taking the orders but he walked over to the other one, said something to him and he in turn took over the cash register while the initial young man who took the order went and washed his hands for a second or two, walked over to the gloves, put them on and made my treat. As soon as he was done, the gloves came off and he continued to make the following treats being ordered. Although nothing was said by either, the looks and overall tone was definitely changed but I really didn't care and just explained that food safety should be the top of their list. Just in case they see this...from the AzDHS food safety website: In Arizona, food workers must avoid bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods by using single-use gloves, tongs, or deli paper. We will be back for sure so hopefully employees are brought up to speed on safety requirements for washing hands and wearing gloves.

My cousin ordered the sunset with strawberries and mango and that was nice and refreshing as well. Their matcha strawberry latte is also absolutely TO DIE FOR! You can really taste the quality, especially knowing they use premium matcha from Uji, Japan. As matcha lovers, we can definitely appreciate that! The matcha soft serve is creamy, refreshing, and absolutely perfect for a hot Arizona day. You really can't go wrong! We'll definitely be back again and again! Highly recommend stopping by if you're a matcha lover!

If you love matcha, this place is definitely worth checking out. Everything we tried was delicious, and they have plenty of options for any matcha lover. But what I wasn't expecting were the Korean corn dogs. Those were AMAZING and easily made the visit even better. It does get pretty busy, so you might have to wait a little bit, but trust me--the wait is worth it. Great treats, great food, and a cool place to bring the family. Definitely recommend Matcha Maiko. The craftsmanship, creative flavor combinations, and sheer deliciousness make this place such a treat. This visit, we tried the Breakfast Pork Sausage Pain Suisse, and OH MY GOODNESS--this was the star of the show! A buttery, flaky croissant layered with JL's signature maple pork sausage patty, cheddar cheese, spicy aioli, and caramelized onions. The sweet maple, savory sausage, creamy cheese, and little kick from the aioli came together in the most incredible way. The flavors were absolutely out of this world! This is officially a new favorite, and I'm already thinking about my next one. We also indulged in the Pumpkin Chocolate Croissant, which was such a lovely seasonal treat, and the Banana Dulce de Leche Kouign-Amann. The latter was pure pastry magic, with banana pastry cream, a dulce de leche filling, banana mascarpone, and a delicate banana chip on top. The combination of banana and rich caramel sweetness was simply divine! Of course, I had to pair everything with a coffee, and it was delicious as well. Customer service was good, making the whole visit even more enjoyable. JL Patisserie is one of those places that reminds you why a well-crafted pastry is worth splurging on. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or a savory breakfast pastry with a gourmet twist, they know how to deliver. Every visit leaves me wanting to try something new, and my only real problem is deciding what to order! They were nice about letting us take as much time as we needed to browse and once we were ready, it was really quick service. After you get your pastries boxed up, you can order a drink at the register. I just like black coffee and got a plain Brazilian cold brew which tasted like any other place but was still good. The person working was very polite and worked quickly to make our drinks. The space was very open and fun, with lots of places to take photos. I came here close to 9pm a few nights ago wanting a hot milk tea with cheese foam and boba. Woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. I asked if she could make my milk tea hot and she thought about for it for a second and then said yes. She then even showed me the cup she was going to use for my hot drink and I said ok. It is plastic, so made me cringe a bit, but I let it be. Milk tea I ordered was 25% sweet and just right for me, the milk tea was very good and fragrant, but there wasn't much cheese foam left on a hot drink and the lady left out the boba. I did enjoy the milk tea as it was nice and fragrant and a good quality milk tea was used and not made from powder. I'd definitely come back here and next time, will ask for the cold one so I can enjoy the cheese foam more and make sure to emphasize that I want boba. Solid boba tea place near me, which I wasn't expecting at all and sometimes those are the best kinds of things in life.
