My little son found a long hair inside his ice cream, which was already upsetting enough, but what made the situation worst was how the staff handled it. When I brought it up to their attention, the employees completely dismissed my concern and acted like it wasn't a big time. Finding something unhygienic in food is absolutely unacceptable. All I wanted was a refund since my son had to throw way his ice cream, but instead they told me "sorry if you don't like it you can leave." I seriously could not believe it. The other day I ordered some of my favorites from the Tempe Marketplace location for delivery using my $5.00 Birthday Reward. I was following the delivery tracker and when it showed it was delivered, I went to grab it - but it wasn't there. I live on a property where things get delivered to the wrong place all of the time, so I made sure I checked each location. Nothing. So, I called the store and explained my situation. A very nice & understanding employee offered to call her manager to see how to proceed. She took down my number & within 5 minutes the store manager called me. She was deeply apologetic & explained that they use 3rd party delivery (UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub) & that this is a frequent occurrence. I told her I just so happen to be a driver for all 3 of those apps and I hear this all of the time from establishments I deliver from and I apologized on their behalf for having drivers on their roster who literally steal people's orders & that I understand how this affects their business. After our exchange she asked me to re-place the order for delivery and that the next day she would add my $5 reward back, refund the original purchase AND the second one for the inconvenience. (I got my ice cream for free!) As promised, the very next day I received an email the my $5 reward had been restored and shortly after saw both transactions refunded to my account. This is above and beyond great customer service - from the employee who took my call to the manager who addressed the issue, this was an amazing experience and they deserve this very long & glowing review. Went in on Friday with some friends and the place was a mess!! The counters were disgusting and covered in ice cream, the stone was covered in food and the spades the girl used were covered in fudge! Hard to not love ice cream and the combinations and customer service at this location earn it special recognition. I have a few favorites from their menu, including the banana caramel crunch and also have designed some treats of my own. The people working here work very hard and it does get busy at times (it is adjacent to a major movie theatre) but they always are happy to accommodate whatever requests you make. I find the prices to be fair and I'm usually in the $6-$7 ballpark with my creation. (5/25/20) And so, after a little shopping around in the 90+ degree weather, we stopped by Cold Stone for something stone cold. I don't have much to say, really; Cold Stone is well-known for its wonderful ice cream and silly names for size options. About the latter -- seriously -- how are we supposed to integrate "like it", "love it", and "gotta have it" into our order? (i.e. "I'll have a 'like it' chocolate," or, "I *gotta have* that chocolate!") It's all very cheeky. Nevertheless, we got a "love it" raspberry sorbet. I found the flavor selection lacking at this Cold Stone; I'd have preferred a strawberry or pineapple sorbet myself, but we were satisfied sharing the raspberry. My favorite ice cream flavor, chocolate peanut butter, was nowhere to be found, although they did have individual chocolate and peanut butter flavors. One complaint of note, and this is what really dings the stars: our ice cream maker, though a kind gentleman, was not wearing a mask. Whatever your beliefs on the subject, I find it reasonable to vouch for all employees, particularly foodservice staff, to gear up for work during this time. So, do consider that if you're planning on stopping by. We don't frequently go out for ice cream goodies, so it was nice to have a little something this afternoon. In terms of quality Coldstone really is delicious. Their flavors are rich and satisfying. The price point is a little high, but as a treat I can let it slide. When I get the pints or quarts from this location they are definitely under filled compared to their other locations which sucks because they're so pricey, so if recommend a different location for those items. In addition, this place is at Tempe Marketplace. So if I am already here for a movie or for Korean BBQ, all I have to do is just walk toward one end of the mall. I think their flavors are pretty standard compare some of the mom and pop shops in the valley. It is pretty corporate and cookie cutter. Pretty clean location! We came here the other night something sweet, and boy were they busy! There was such a line long but it looked like they were moving fast so we decided to stay. There were four employees working and hustling although you could tell there was some tension between a few of them. I don't get it. The number one flavor in America is vanilla. I tasted the no sugar added vanilla and it was terrible. They could take a lesson from Kroger's No Sugar added Vanilla ice cream. Now that's a delicious ice cream. So then I bought the regular vanilla ice cream (medium) without asking for a taste. Vanilla is vanilla right? WRONG. This was the most terrible tasting vanilla ice-cream ever. I bought an ice cream for my son who ordered the mint chocolate and he loved it. So the one star is for that. Sweet, savory, and deliciously thick, it was the perfect way to end the evening. My only complaint lies with the whipped cream, which seemed a little too close to Cool Whip for my liking - I prefer it to be lighter. However, that is just a minor complaint. The line can usually get a little long, especially at peak hours, but it moves along at a decent pace, so fear not! I literally could not stop eyeing these desserts in the freezer that was 2 cookies with ice cream in the middle. I am in no way, shape, or form embarrassed at how basic I can be. So when I saw that they had a seasonal pumpkin cheesecake ice cream flavor I instantly knew I had to taste it. I had a list of 3 different flavors to try that I recited in my head but didn't even bother after I tried the pumpkin cheesecake.
