Great spot in NoHo and always a good sign when the parking lot is packed. Parking can definitely be a little rough, so it helps to come with a game plan, but once you're in, you get why people keep pulling up. The ambience is lively right away. Sports on the TVs, the whole place buzzing, food smells hitting the second you walk in, and that unlimited salsa bar really sets the tone. Tons of different salsas and they stay on top of refilling everything. Chips hit the table fast and the food comes out quick too. The food is a full on indulgence. Our server, Iliana, was an incredibly rude server. She barely checked on our table even though the restaurant was practically empty. When we ordered a side of rice, she gave us a side of fries and when we asked for her to correct the order, she argued with us before rolling her eyes and walking away without explanation. The side of rice never arrived until the end of our meal where we followed up on the order we had not yet received. She just rudely replied, "Another one?!" And we had to point to the table and show her we hadn't received our order yet. Again, she walked away without a word. The rest of our service with her, we were ignored even after multiple tries of getting her attention so we could get the bill. Again, the restaurant was not busy and we were not even asking for anything more than our correct order and bill. There's no way people still like this place. I used to love salsa and beer; I used to brag about their good food, their prices, and the place that introduced henchatas to me. Now, this is no longer the case. I got myself a quesadilla de asada, and it was the saltiest quesadilla I ever had; I had to dip it in so many beans and crema with random salsas from their salsa bar just to eat it. I could only eat maybe 1 slice and a half before calling it quits; it was so bad, and it was 18 bucks to top it off. Dude, the burritos here are about 24 bucks, or 23 if you pay cash. Like, yo, there's no way! I've eaten at finer Mexican restaurants that have cheaper burritos than that. There's no way! To top it off, service was so nonexistent on a slow day too, as I went during lunch around 1:30 pm on a Monday. I was ignored the entire time; I had to flag someone to help me each time. Great food. Loved the bean dip they bring out at the beginning. It was very busy on a Tuesday night. The parking attendant will help you find parking so you just have to wait in line until your turn. The server brought everything out that we asked for and refilled drinks. Their white queso is amazing and definitely worth the try. The salsa bar that is serve yourself is also very good. Went here with my 2 kids, husband and mom. The food is good, server is judgmental when we order 1 kid meal for my 2 kids (1.5 and 4). When we left, we're told that there's 2% extra charge if we pay with credit card. Also, the menu has no price which kind of sketchy. My husband left my 1.5 hat on the table and the tip. I was at salsa bar. When we realized we left the hat, I came back to the table and it's gone. It's not even more than 5 mins. It's amazing how dishonest the workers are. I won't come back. My friends had the same experience where they always lost something there. So, if you want your personal belongings to be gone, please come. My first time at Salsa and Beer, I know I'm so late to the game. This location has free parking which is great. We arrived at 8pm they close at 10, had no issue finding parking in the lot. We waited 30 min to be seated. The place is a little on the small side so the tables and booths felt too close together and I didn't have enough elbow space. They sat us at a table for 4 but we had 5 in our party, so it felt crammed a bit. Service was great though, very attentive. Free chips and salsa and bean dip which was divine. Ordered the following Steak/chicken fajita - steak was ok, shrimp was on point. Beans rice and all the sides it came with was delish. The fajita veggies were good, the dish came out sizzling which was great. I'd skip the steak next time and just get the shrimp although the chicken might be good so may try it. Big portion of food. Shrimp hard shell taco was delicious. MVF most valuable food in my opinion. Packed full of flavor. Arroz con pollo was a very large plate of all the goodness. The rice is delish, very authentic style Mexican rice. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. I'd do light cheese next time as it added too much sodium to the dish. I will definitely be back to try some more dishes like the wet burrito and enchiladas next round. Oh and I'd like to try the shrimp cocktail. The cleanliness of the table area could have been better. BRING CASH! You can save a bit by paying cash versus card. FYI, if you use card, there is a 4% service charge. As for parking, it can be a bit of a nightmare and you may need to do a bit of walking to reach the restaurant. The table turnaround wasn't too bad for a Saturday evening and the wait was about 15-20 minutes. Once seated, they'll serve you some fresh tortilla chips and spicy bean dip. A bit different than the usual salsa, but you can always serve yourself at the salsa bar to the right of the entrance. For my entree, I got the Guadalajara fajitas with flour tortillas and was not disappointed one bit! The entree itself is humongous and can easily make two meals. The drinks looked pretty good as well as they offer various margaritas and can even do virgin ones if you're driving. The food also came out lightning fast! I was a bit shocked at how quick it was. Once my fajitas arrived, I liked that the fajitas had lots of veggies included including leek, bell peppers, zucchini, and plenty of caramelized onions. The fajitas also come with a plate of rice, beans, and other fixings. Overall, excellent and rapid service with delicious food and generous portions. Welll... i have been going to salsa and Beer since 2007-ish. I have always appreciated most everything from the generous quantities of well- priced, simple, charred mexican food to the margaritas. Until recently, that is. Let me backtrack a bit--friends and i have enjoyed the Taquito Trio many times. Even though I was suspicious on several occasions (yes, SEVERAL) that there were not three different kinds of taquitos--there never seemed to be beef), i never said anything because other people were sharing. I went i to denial and enjoyed what i got. Today, ii ordered the taquito trio for myself, not to share! I planned to eat one of each kind, then take the rest to go. The problem is, that everything i ate seemed to be the same. That is when i decided to slice each piece down the middle to find the beef! Guess what? There was NO BEEF AT ALL. Just like in previous times. Each piece looked like the other which was a gooey, cheesey mess. To be fair, i figured out a couple of the cheesey rolls had chicken, but the majority were chicken and cheese. Ick. When i pointed it out to the waitress, she at first made excuses, but i suggested she look at the place herself, and tell me which were which. Well, then she left, came back and said there were no beef taquitos that day. No sht, sherlock! Why didn't anyone tell me? They should have told me before they brought my order. Nothing. The bigger problem is that this was not a one-off. They have done this repeatedly over the past few years. They have been deceiving customers for years! I complained to the manager--waited for him until he got off break. He flippantly said he wouldn't charge me (ya think?), but never offered an apology. Honestly, i pleaded with him that this was unacceptable and to please, please, please take my complaint seriously. That it is wrong to deceive the customers, and they need to tell us when something is not available. He did NOT seem to take me seriously at all. Not in the least. In fact, he threw the waitress under the bus, saying she had been told that beef taquitos were not available. It was her fault. No. I don't think so. He was the manager. It was his responsibility to follow through with correct information. Shame on him for blaming his wait staff. At the very least, the cooks should have told her to tell us ... they didn't because this is par for the course with this particular dish. Beware! So, two other minor complaints. Tacos and taquitos are typically made with corn tortillas. The tortillas of the taquitos and the tacos in the main combos are not 100% corn tortilla. Seems like more of a blend between corn and flour--gets soggy faster. It's not necessarily a bad thing, just know the tortillas are altered. Ok, one final complaint. The flour tortillas are steamed hot, not heated on a grill. This means you just might get raw tortillas like i did (a month or so again). I don't know about you, but i find raw flour tortillas to be yucky. Beware!!!! In conclusion, i will still return but not as often and with reticence. I was very, very disappointed in the quality control and the 8/25 monday 2:00 pm manager at Salsa and Beer on Sherman Way. read more

The menu book is via QR and there may be additional specials on the table and not presented in the menu. Just ask your server. We got the #11 taquitos and enchilada combo plus shrimp Veracruz with salad. All tasted good but we noticed some of the salsa was saltier than expected. Be aware like other Salsa and Beer there is an extra credit charge price. There's on-site parking lot but can be narrow to navigate. This is the place. The steak fajitas are the order. I also recommend you get a side of avocado (which is an entire avocado). It's already a HEALTHY PORTION but (pro tip) if you order a side of steak, you basically get double the steak (if not more). I was here on Christmas Eve (if that tells you anything) and it was a magical experience. Be sure to order extra tortilla. I don't know how anyone could consume the amount of fajita contents with just three tortillas. It's not physically possible. Even with all these extras, this place is still absurdly affordable. And the service? Come here several times and they will remember you even though this place is hella popular and packed. I don't want to rate this restaurant in stars. I want to rate it in galaxies. This is a Great spot to catch some delicious Mexican Food. We started off with the Chips with Salsa, Bean Dip and Guacamole. I ordered the Steak Fajitas and my friend ordered the Cheese Enchiladas Plate. Both of us were extremely satisfied with our food The dishes were very large and we both ended up with leftovers. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Everyone from the Parking Director, to the Hosts and of course our Waiter were all amazing. Our Waiter was very attentive to us and checking in often and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was on point. The place was packed but our little booth gave us just enough privacy to have a conversation without having any difficulties hearing each other. Areli was not attentive we waited 10 mins just to get drinks. Not sure if she needed help but there were only 3 guest at the time. It's sad because this place was once a good restaurant. I will not return to either Vanowen location the only location that still has some quality is the Sherman way location but on a thin line.
