Could not decide what to do after burning a transmission on my 2007 GX 470 Lexus. To replace it with a used one from a junk yard, buy a rebuild one or to rebuild my original trany... was a difficult choice as I wanted to keep this car and did not want to regret my decision as transmissions can be very tricky to work on. After going back and forth pricing all my options, I decided to rebulit my exicting trany, and after looking in to several shops gave it to Sal's as I figured they have been in business for a very long time and have to know what they are going after all these years, and they are very busy. We did agree on a very fair price, I was even willing to pay more just to make sure everything would be done right! It did take several days, but they kept me updated on the progress. I waited some time before leaving this review to make sure that everything works fine. But now I can tell you that everything works better then fine, but GREAT It has been more then 3 months since, and I can say transmission is even smoother and better then it was. Guys were very nice and definitly give them a 5 star rating, they even helped me with a rental and drove me there. Thanks a lot guys, my car runs great and I will keep it for years to come. First of all, it's a shop that has "transmission" in the name, meaning this shop does intricate work; transmissions are very complex and time consuming. That being said, anything equally as complex, like the engine, they would be able to fix. Brought my car in believing that it had a cracked head or a destroyed head gasket after hearing a loud pop under the hood and faint smoke coming out, talked to both Sal and mike, both were professional and knew what they were talking about (particularly if you have done your own research, and knew what they were referencing in your conversation). Most places would have taken advantage of a customer that had worries with their car, but Sal and mike did not, they explained everything concisely and rid away of any fears I had. They went through their diagnosing process (free, of course) and found my car is running perfectly normal. I am to bring back my car to them at a later time if I want to do any aftermarket part installation. read more

While driving my car 2007 Honda CRV i've noticed a loud grinding noise. I brought the car to my regular mechanic shop and he told me i need a new TRANSMISSION!! OUCH. He told me a rebuilt transmission goes for $2,300.00. So i called a few places and some were help full and some just up right rude , found Sal's Transmission and spoke to Sal Jr. He advised me to bring it in for a free check up. So i did. These people are scam artists, if you come to this shop you are GUARANTEED to spend a minimum of 2500 dollars they will tell you anything to get you in the shop and no matter what you need they will only want to do a full rebuild of your transmission, even if it just needs a sensor no joke if you have a scrape in your oil pan they will say you need a full rebuild, they won't do nothing else! Not to mention they tell you one day which equals 1 month. If you drop it off to them be prepared to not have a car for a very long time! They are NOT HONEST AT ALL! Friend of mine recommended this place to me. Thought I had a transmission problem on my truck so I took it in. Mike was the guy that helped me out and diagnosed the problem with my truck. Thankfully it wasn't the transmission but a problem with the engine misfiring. They were able to fix it that day and I picked up the truck a few hours later. Problem gone. Really nice people. They are completely upfront about cost and aren't trying to sell you things you don't need. He's more appropriate with a 10 star! I called regarding my transmission for my rogue and I must've called him 4 times and each time, he was always nice and told me to swing by with the car! Thank good I did! He didn't charge me to check the car out, told me what was wrong with it, gave me a decent price with warranty plus a one month follow up! I dropped my Jeep off to Sal's on Saturday night. I had it back by Friday night. Not an easy task to do when you consider that I was out of town. The Jeep need a new clutch, new front and rear differential and a full brake system overhaul. Easily a two week project at any other shop. All the equipment got there on Thursday morning and they worked day and night to have it ready Friday morning. To top it all, the work was done to perfection. Prior to going to Sal's I used a AAA auto repair shop (AAA member). There were times I had to return the car at least 2 times to have the work completed properly only to find the problem still existed and the cost was too high (even with AAA Discount). Since using Sal's Transmission for my auto repairs, I can honestly say I am VERY pleased with the work that they do. The staff is friendly and honest and the cost of repairs are reasonable. I went to my own mechanic and he said I needed a new transmission. My friend recommended Sal's Transmissions. Sal is a great and honest guy and diagnosed the problem immediately. Very honest and great mechanics, I brought my work van to sal for a leaky gas tank and cracked transmission mount. He was extremely fair and honest with me and above all had my van out and running perfectly within 1 day.
