I told them exactly what had happened with my Infiniti-that I was in NJ, had 1/2 tank of gas, went to gas station there to fill up. The attendant tried to fill it but gas only trickled in a penny at a time. After 6-7 minutes only had $3.35. He tried again same thing only got $1.25 worth in. Then attendant had me move to a different gas pump, got less than $1 in & it stopped like it was full. There was between half and 3/4. Back in Bay Ridge, brought it to Verrazano and actually gave them a typed sheet with the description of what happened the night before with filling the tank, plus I wrote the brakes he just put in are squeaking pls check them. The guy stapled it to the check in card where they have you write your name, etc. They open 8am. It was 11am had heard nothing. I had to call. John said I'll call you back in a couple of minutes I'm on with the dealership. 30 mins later had to call again. He said oh Miss I had to order a new one it's coming from the dealership I asked him what did he order? He said a new gas gauge sender. I said, is it sensor? He said No, sender. He spelled it to me. I asked what does that do? It reads how much gas is in the tank. Ok, but I said there is exactly as much gas in the tank as I expect there to be. He says, what do you mean? The gas gauge is not wrong? I said no, I told you the gas gauge is right, but I can't fill up past a few dollars at a time, John says Oh my God I'm gonna have to stop him hold on. I'll call you back. Now, you see, this is no longer the $$$ repair he was hoping for. I don't hear from him for 40 minutes, Ma'am (sneering now, no longer the respectful 'Miss' from earlier when he thought he had a big expensive job on his hands). He says oh there's nothing wrong with your car. I got five dollars worth in to it $5 worth into it. I said I got about that much into it last night too but couldn't fill up. John says You want me to fill it up? I say yes please I have to go back and forth to Long Island this afternoon. What did you find when you looked at the brakes? Ma'am (sneering) I have 2 fuel pumps to put in I don't have time for this. I said, you've had the car for 7 hours and you haven't done anything at all? He said I'll call you back. Now it's an hour later and I have to leave soon for Long Island. I call. No answer. Wait 10 mins, figuring maybe he really is busy. No answer. He's screening my call. I try on my other phone and he answers instantly. Verrazano how can I help you? (all cheery) He hears it's me his whole attitude changes. I said did the car fill up? Yes. I say How can that be? What do you think the problem was and it it going ho happen again and leave me stranded alone somewhere? He says I have no idea. You probably put it in wrong. I said in NJ you don't pump your own gas. I told you the attendant did it and then he had me move to another pump and he tried again. John says Ma'am (dragged out like I'm an idiot) I don't have time for this. I have three fuel pumps to put in. (This is clearly a lie. It went from 2 to 3?) Come and get your car. I asked what about the brakes? Ma'am I'm too busy for you. And he hung up on me. I went to get the car and they called John over. I said you hung up on me. He dropped his eyes to the counter and said the call was disconnected. I said you had my car for 7.5 hours and did nothing but put a tank of gas in it. Ma'am (sneering) I'm busy. I said stop saying ma'am to me because it is not at all respectful. Did men bring those two cars in here? (there was one car in one bay, one bay empty and one bay with a car sitting with no one working on it) he said Yeah so? I said You would never treat a man the way you have treated me today. His face turned a red. I guess that got him mad being called on his mysogyny. I said 4 things and he interrupted me 6 or 7 times shouting at me. Finally saying I'm not here to argue with you. I said no you're here to fix customers cars which you did not do. Arguing is all you seem to have time for. Give me my key. The only bill better be for gas. (It was). I told him his behavior was disgraceful and I was going to be posting a review of this business. Here it is. Btw I took it somewhere else and they knew immediately it was likely vapor lock and unlikely to happen again but what to do if it did. So John probably didn't know what was wrong and thus couldn't turn it into a big money repair. I would suggest to you to avoid this place. Zero communication. Can you imagine if they changed that sensor for no reason because he did not listen to what the actual problems was? Nor did he call to discuss it or to give me a quote for the work? He was having his technician do it and if I hadn't called it would've been too late. To women who want to get their car repaired on their own without dragging a male friend alone for protection, John may try to push you around. And if it's not a quick fix or a big bucks repair, or if he is busy, you may have the same experience I did. read more

Took my car here for a State Inspection and was told I needed rear brakes. When I wanted to shop the price because it seemed high they tried to give me a discount to do the work right away. Took the car to another shop that confirmed I had more than 50% left on my pads. Don't take your car to these folks unless you want to pay for work you don't need. read more

My steering wheel started to stick on slow turns so I took my truck into the Lexus dealership. They said I needed a new rack and pinion, high pressure hose, alignment + the labor the bill would have been $2,800!!!!!!!!! I found Mike who runs the Verrazano Service Center and he was quick and knowledable. He didn't try to upsell me on every little thing and quickly fixed all the exact same problems for $738!!!! including tax and labor. Lexus tried to sell me the hose for $700.00 for only the part. Mike charged me the real cost of $12.00!!! I will be back for all my car problems! read more

I just moved to Brooklyn a few months ago and have been parking my car there using their monthly package.. Affordable and so much better then trekking down a steep ramp for the indoor garage next to harbour fitness. Anyhow, I've had my car inspection done, tires rotated, wipers updated and oil change done within an hour which speaks volumes on quick service. Also, they are professional and accept Wheels Payment via the phone for those with company cars. The staff within the small storefront and auto repair place are respectful and professional. read more

I went to have an oil change early 2018, they not only overcharged me, but their "technician" was so unprofessional he scratched the driver's door when he opened it too quickly slamming it into a tools cabinet next nearby. Owner said they have video but refused to show it to me. He then started yelling at and threatening me that I should go away. I ended up paying $716.00 to fix the paint on the door. Filed a law suit against them. Very unprofessional! read more

Overdue review: I've had several great and money-saving experiences here, but Mike recently saved me $700. My check engine light came on and I took it to a Pep Boys nearby, who said a host of issues would cost $800 to fix. I took it to Mike, who ran a diagnostic and said the codes he pulled didn't make a lot of sense, and he guessed that the computer had malfunctioned and nothing was actually wrong with the car. He turned off the check engine light and said he'd run a free diagnostic if it came back on. It came on a few weeks later, and he found that the car had a single problem, $100 to fix. I trust these guys 100%, which is tough to find in a mechanic. read more

I did a lot of work at this place. I knew they were jacking me on many ways they know how and on various parts but I let them because it was conveniently located. But not this time! Before a long trip I went in for a checkup and they charge me various little things for $325. OK, as long as I'm safe on the road, why not?! But after driving one day my engine started making horrible noise, so brought it back. After 3days, when they fail to call me with a status of the car I went in and they said I had to change my whole engine and it would cost me $2500+. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to Bayridge Subaru, and have learned that it was one of the broken driving belt that made the noise. I spent $250 on parts and $500+ on labor, but it was worth it -- way cheaper then $2500+. Obviously, the guys at the Verrazano Service Center didn't know what was going on. that's why they didn't call for 3days and try to make me to pay for changing my engine. I don't mind they ripping me off, because most auto mechanics do, but this guys just are incompetent as well. Avoid this place!!! read more
