Besides the fact that right of the bat I was turned off by the decor, which does say a lot about the place, we were t here for 3-4 hours while they checked us out. Now comes the extra douche part. The sales agents takes my husbands amex with a simple "Can I see it?" Sure. Here you go...what do you need it for? "I just want to see it" So he sees it. And comes back with a 7,000 charge. No papers were filed asking us for permission and we refused to signed the check. We were told that the charge won't go through and were reassured 3 times. So what happened? It went through. I too had a terrible experience with Guiffre. Brought my car in for the one year service and asked them to do an inspection since it was due. The car had less than 10,000 miles on it. I called to see if the car was ready and I was told that the car needed new brakes and would not pass inspection. I told them not to change the brakes and picked the car up. I then took the car to Midas and paid extra to have them pull the wheels to check the brakes. They told me that the brakes were good for another 15,000 to 20,000 miles. One year later, inspection time again I took the car to a local place and the car failed. He said that it would probably pass at the dealer (I don't know why). I went to Guiffre and the car passed. EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED. STAY AWAY.... THEY ARE NOT HONEST!!! read more

Went with my brother in law to get a new car (for him and his wife). It was a pleasant experience, actually i've never witnessed such an easy transaction. The workers made sure he saw everything on the lot that fit into his price range and were patient with him as he and his wife made their decision. They wound up with a very cool 2011 Hyundai Sonata that was hooked up with all the toys. I'd highly reccommend checking this place out if you are looking for a new car. read more

I don't really consider three stars A-OK; it's more like Eh, it's OK. I take my car here for service just in case I want to trade it in some day. However, I don't think I'll do that any more. Somehow, I always feel like I was "taken" by the time I leave. A year ago, I took the car in for inspection/check-up/minor fixes that I couldn't get to on my own. After dropping it off at 8 AM, I took the bus home with my toddler and did my thing for a few hours. Around 11:30 or so I got the call that the car was ready. Wow! Quick! I traveled back to Giuffre on the bus, toddler in tow, and was told it would be a few minutes. After about 20 minutes, when I realized that "few" may mean entirely different things in my world and Giuffre's world, I asked about the car. Some car emergency pushed things back and now it would be another hour. Super sorry blahblahblah. Why did you call me to say come get the car? WHY? So at this point, I need to get some lunch for my restless toddler and myself. We head to Casa Calamari (the highlight of the day, really) in the rain. Long story shorter, it was almost 5 PM by the time I drove away with the car. Had I been called at 4:30 PM, I would have been happy to get the car back the same day. Grrrrr. The service manager, Tommy, was very apologetic, and wrote "next service free" on the bill. That's nice, but I'd rather have my day back. Fast forward 12 months. In for another inspection and check-up. I show the "next service free" to the gentleman who was taking the car. He looked at it and said, "This says 'next oil change free,' is that what you want?" I corrected him, and then he had to bring the bill to Tommy to check out my honesty. MY honesty? How stupid do you think I am? Anyway, it turned into some BS service check for free, but of course it didn't cover what I needed that day. I was told it would be an hour an a half, and when I asked if that really meant an hour and a half I got a look and a sarcastic answer. Personally, I think it was a pretty legitimate question. Long story shorter (I'm trying), I was in at 8:45 and home by Noon (a call an hour and a half into the service told me that more needed to be done). An improvement. And I can't complain about the service on the car (although I never seem to get the free car-wash that is promised with every service). But like I said, I always feel like I've been taken despite the (usually) friendly staff and service. I think I'll take a couple of car repair classes when I get a chance. read more

Everyone else's 1-star - really NO-star - reviews are correct. Car dealerships are not known for their ethics and honesty, but these guys are particularly egregious. Let me tell you a little story. Back in 2007, we purchased a new car from Giuffre Hyundai. At the time, we could not find the title to the car we were trading in, and the dealer said, No problem, they would take care of it. A few weeks later, we get a threatening call from the dealer, demanding we obtain the title, and threatening to mess up our financing if we did not. I'm not kidding you. I reminded them that they said they'd take care of it, told them I did not appreciate being threatened, and hung up. A few weeks after that, I get a summons from the State of New Jersey for abandoning a car in a town out there - our old car we'd traded in. I could not rectify this matter by phone; the NJ Court told me I'd have to come to court and show evidence before a judge that the car no longer belonged to us. Bottom line, we had to take a day off from work to go to court in NJ to clear this up. You get the picture: rather than go to the trouble of obtaining the title to our old car, which they said they would do, they simply dumped it in New Jersey. Yes, that's a true story. Flash forward to March of 2013, and again we are in the market for a new Hyundai. Unfortunately, after doing the research, Giuffre was the dealership that seemed to offer the best price. We should have our heads examined for ever stepping foot into that den of thieves again. But we did. Needless to say, the price quoted by email was lower than what the salesman quoted, but I had done my homework and with haggling was able to negotiate a good price for the car. (I STILL should never have dealt with those guys again, though,) Again, we could not locate the title to the car we were trading in. I told the salesman the story of what had happened the last time, about the car being abandoned in Jersey, and again, he assured me the dealership would take care of it. This time, though, I got him to sign a paper stating that. We were supposed to get the new car the next day. Long story short, OF COURSE the salesman had a lame excuse the next day for why it wasn't at the dealership for us to pick up! The day after that, after our kicking up a fuss, we were finally able to pick up a car - but not the one we had ordered! Because the only difference was the color of the interior, which was disappointing but not too important to us, we decided to accept the car. But, the dealership was not able to supply us with the car we had thought we were purchasing. But the story doesn't end there. Guess who just phoned? Giuffre Hyundai, demanding we obtain the title for the old car. Yes, even though they had given me a document saying they would not do that. They had some lame-ass excuse about why they could not obtain the title, which is pure crap because part of being an auto dealership is dealing with such paperwork. When we bought our new car, I told the dealership that I'd be reviewing them on Yelp. I KNEW there was a reason I waited this long. I admit, we are complete idiots for EVER dealing with these &@^#*&!? a second time, and I am ashamed of myself, I admit that too. But I'm writing this in hopes of saving someone else the anguish of dealing with such dishonest, unscrupulous snakes in the grass as Giuffre Hyundai. I don't know how our story will end, but please, do yourself a favor, don't let this be your story too: go ANYWHERE ELSE to buy your car!!! read more

I can not believe this business is in existence. I actually bought a car from Giuffre two weeks ago. Believe it or not when I got my online quote via email from them they told me the car would be 21,650. I went to the dealership and the price magically changed to 27,800. This is not a joke. Turns out I did wind up leasomg the car after causing a scene and they did give me a decent deal, not great but decent... this was only the beginning of my horrors.... Two weeks after i bought the car I was having an electrical problem so I figured I could just bring it in and being that it is 2 WEEKS old they would take care of it no problem. Long story short I was told the problem could not have happened without me doing something wrong to the car and my warranty has been voided!!!! I paid $340 just to get my car back from the shop!!! My rim was scratched and my family and I were told we had to leave the shop immediately and wait ouside to pick up my car. The service manager, Tommy, even continued to call me "Bro," "Cuz," "Yo," and "Son." Unreal. I am taking this to court and the BBB and what not but please, for your own good, take your business elsewhere. My story seems outrageous and made up but sadly its not. read more

Just want to give a big thank you to Guiffre Hyundai in Brooklyn and, especially, Kevin Baker. I bought my car there in August of 2010 and got my regular service done there for the first year. But after going for an oil change I was sent home needing an inspection and new front brakes. They just didn't check or forgot to let me know. So I stopped going there for about a year. One day a few months ago while driving my wheel froze and several lights came on. I was forced to go back to Giuffre because the car was still under warranty. Unbeknownst to me Giuffre was under new management. I was greeted by Kevin Baker immediately and was taken care of right away. The problem I went there for was covered and I was alerted to some other problems needing attention. But at no time was I pressured or made to feel like I had to have these repairs done immediately. Kevin arranged for me to have a rental car at no extra charge while my car was repaired. The next day the car was fixed and I was on my way. I was completely satisfied with the experience I had at Giuffre Hyundai in Brooklyn. I'm also very appreciative of the time and effort and above and beyond service which was provided by Kevin Baker. "You should have known better" There were many promises made to me during the day of deal, none of which were fulfilled on time. My calls were never returned even though they claimed to have returned them. Its funny now I did not even get a voicemail to confirm the claim. My salesman avoided me like the plague when I showed up looking for answers and I was peddled around like a $5 hooker until I landed in the hands of the Customer service manager. Nice Lady, useless nonetheless. During one of my calls one of the salesman asked if I had the promises on paper. I replied that certain things, like the delivery date should not need to be on paper especially if they said it will be in the next day. Otherwise I would not have paid the deposit for a vehicle they did not have. He retorted "You should have known better" Yes, I should have know better than to trust anyone in there to do the right thing. I should have know better than to have done my business with any of Giuffre's auto group. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Why can't I give ZERO stars?? I would not send my worst enemy here. Never have I received this terrible of service on such a regular basis. I've been frustrated and annoyed so many times that I now blame me for putting myself through so much torture. You would think that if you drop your car off at 8am and pick it up at 5:30pm that that would be more than enough time to get an oil change, an inspection and a car wash right? WRONG. I came back at 5:30pm thinking all I had to do was pay my bill and leave. WRONG. They only did one of the three things I asked for - an oil change. They claimed that I didn't ask for an inspection. I was 100% sure I did. Even if I didn't they should have seen that my inspection sticker was about to expire in 3 days and suggested that I get one! That's what a proper service station would do! So, I had to wait about another hour to hour and a half to get my inspection that I desparately needed as well as get my car washed. I was so late to an event that I that evening that I had to cancel on it all together! More recently I made an appt again at 8am, this time just for an oil change and for them to take a look at my bluetooth that suddenly stopped pairing with my phone. They said it would take 60-90 mintues. Fine, reasonable amount of time. I get a call around 10:15am (over 2 hours after I drop my car off) asking me to come back so that they can try pairing my phone. I got there within 15 min. They took another 30 min after that to test my phone. Then after that was done, they still had to finish (or start) my oil change! I didn't leave with my car till almost NOON! Why does it take FOUR HOURS to get an oil change and blue tooth looked at????? I asked this of the manager. His response is that I should expect any service on my car, even a simple oil change, to take a minimum of 2-2.5 hours and that the guys that work on the cars don't come in till 8:30am. Then why did someone make an appt for me at 8:00 if workers don't come in till 8:30am??? He says because she probably thought you were doing a drop off instead of waiting for my car. Why didn't she ask me that when I made the appt?? He says, I have been here a few times, I should know that. What??? I should know the hours of your workers?? Get out of here. What kind of answer/customer service is that?? Go back to management/customer service 101 freak. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. They do not deserve you as a customer because they do not know how to properly treat customers. They take you for granted and do what they want on their own time. They either overbook the number of cars they take a day or the workers slack off and take several hours to do simple things. There service department is absolutely horrible. They promised me my car the next day, it took 3 weeks to get my car back. Whenever I called they told me it would be ready tommorow and then when I called tommorow they told me the part was not in. This went on for 3 weeks. I rarely write such a poor review but I feel it is necessary to warn anyone who attempts to purchase from Giuffre only because you would have to deal with the auto mechanic if you have a warranty (or should I say so you think you have one). There is such poor customer satisfaction and until they realize telling people yes something is under warranty and then later telling you it's not then this place should seriously close down. I was trapped into sending my car all the way there where in fact I could've easily brought it up the block for almost 200.00 less. My mistake was not getting a name of the person who said it was under warranty, although I'm not even sure that would've made a difference. When I explained to Tim over there the situation he was nice enough to listen and apologize, but unfortunately his boss Tommy was the complete opposite. Customer satisfaction class 101 should've told you to at least apologize to the customer. Clearly he shouldn't be dealing with people. And what did he offer as to satisfy myself and maybe stop me from writing this truthful review, nothing. Luckily AAA will tow from one place to another if you haven't already towed it to that one place already. Tommy and the person who lied to me over the phone will never realize the trouble you put me through. As having a broken foot, a 19 month old to take care of, and a husband who took enough time off from work wasn't enough, I now have to deal with rude untruthful mechanics. This review is about the Giuffre Service Department, because apparently, they had so many bad reviews they took down the page. But the department has its ups and downs, so I wanted to write this. I had a bad experience there (having to wait six hours when I was told it would be two or three) and then got whiny excuses from Charles, the manager that day. I was so angry that I got in touch with the guy who's in charge of the department, who was fantastic. He personally oversaw my next appointment. However, then they mistakenly added an extra fee, which was annoying, because I had already paid by credit card, and apparently even the manager can't void a credit card charge (?), so when the head guy called me to follow up, I told him about it and he said he'd fix it for me on Monday. End advice on dealing with Service Department: - Don't deal with Charles; make an appointment on a day on which Andrew is running the office - Always check the breakdown of your bill before paying - You may have to escalate matters to the head boss if something goes wrong read more

We bought a second hand CERTIFIED CAR from this dealership some years back and we learn that when we trade our car *** THEY SOLD US CERTIFIED HYUNDAI SANTA FE WITH FRAME DAMAGED WITH TMU (THEY PLAYED WITH THE MILEAGE).*** Of course we get almost no money back from the trade. Beware of classic bait and switch tactics at this place. I called and asked a female representative who told me she worked as a salesperson to see if this particular pre owned car was still available. She said yes and I asked her if she could actually physically check to see if it was in the lot. She said "let me look at my window...oh yes its there on the lot". Fine. I go in and of course the car is no where to be found after looking for it on my own among the lot. I call her again and ask her where the car is, and she says that she'll be right out. Ten minutes later of waiting a sales guy steps up to me and asks if I need any help, to which I reply that I was waiting for a certain sales lady to come out to meet me to find a car. The guy then says that she sent him out to see me but that she only answers phones and is not a sales person. I then ask him where this car I have been looking for is, and he looks around with me on the lot and concludes it must have been sold. I tell him that the lady on the phone told me it was on the lot, and he tells me that she works a couple of buildings away (with no view of the lot of course) and that he didn't know about that. Realizing now that this was a total bait and switch that I fell for and that I had been lied to on so many levels, I just walked away so disgusted. I later checked them out on the Better Business Bureau website, and found that they had over six dozen complaints filed against them, six dozen! After terrible experiences at Bay Ridge Honda and Bay Ridge Volkswagen, Giuffre Hyundai was a great experience. We were promptly greeted by Tyron who didn't laugh at us when we gave him our price range despite not really having much inventory that fit and instead did something shocking: his job! Tyron laid out the best options based on the criteria we gave him and actually tried to sell us a car rather than condescend and eat pizza. We test drove a Kia Rio, which wasn't for us and certainly not worth the 17K they charge for it, but we're not reviewing the car we're reviewing the dealership and Tyron. read more

I was referred to this dealer through the USAA/True Car program. They low bid the fixed price to sell the car after I was referred to them on the internet and then when the booking agent (Naomi) called to follow-up, she said they would not only meet that price but if I came in over that weekend, they would pay up to $ 3500 above KBB on my trade. I said too good to be true and it was. Drove from Westchester to Brooklyn after checking twice by phone to make sure they would honor these deals and received assurances. Of course when I got to showroom, the salesperson said they could only honor one of the two deals I had been told I was eligible for and then they wouldn't even give me KBB on the trade. They are bait and switch artists and scammers all the way thru. True Car (great program!) stood by me and tried to intercede on my behalf. I was then told by the internet manager (Amanda) at the dealer that they would give me the True Car price and the KBB amount for my trade...then later, sales manager (John) called and said no way unless I financed the new car. Told him this was not the deal Amanda had promised. Again, True Car attempted to step in to get this dealer to honor their deals and Owner said he would reach out to me...he never did, surprise! True Car banned them from their program because of my and other customer interactions with these duds...Needless to say, would not recommend this dealer and want to tell everyone to STAY AWAY! read more

I was lured to Giuffre Hyundai by a competitive price advertised byTrueCar.com The salesman told me he located the car that matches my request, and provided a written notice of the vin number of the vehicle and a tentative sale price. The car was to be delivered the next day, the latest, according to representatives from Giuffre Hyundai. In order to secure the vehicle, I was asked to leave a 500$ deposit that was charged to my credit card. A week passed and I have not heard anything from the dealership. When I drove there and confronted Angelo, the manager who signed the written notice, I was told that they never had the car, nor ever arranged for a dealer swap. I courteously asked them to return my deposit, and was again lied to by Angelo, who told me they processed the reversal and it would take a maximum of 72 hours to finalize the transaction. To this day I have not received my money back. Calling the dealership does not seem to help, as anyone I speak ignores my pleas and fails to follow up. Avoid this dealership, save yourself a headache. A star, is an overrating compliment to this place. read more
