I purchased a vehicle in full, in cash, from Bay Ridge Honda exactly one year ago (Honda Civic Sport 2022) At the time of purchase, I was offered a complimentary detailing as part of the deal. Recently, I attempted to redeem that offer, only to be told it would not be honored because the original salesperson and manager were no longer with the dealership. Despite this, I followed up diligently--calling every week for nearly two months. Eventually, I was told by the current manager, Stephanie, that the dealership would honor the detailing. I then drove from New Jersey to Brooklyn specifically for this service, only to receive a basic car wash - if you can even call it a car wash. When I received my vehicle it had hand prints all over the windows, dirt all over the radio and doors and fell well short of anything resembling an actual detailing. Sad part was I never met nor spoke with Stephanie in person. This entire experience has been extremely disappointing. During the sales process, the dealership treated me like gold. But once the sale was complete, that level of care disappeared. It felt as though, because the current staff wasn't involved in my purchase, they viewed my issue as not their problem. To make matters worse, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being taken advantage of--simply because I'm a woman. I was dismissed, given the runaround for weeks, and treated as if my concerns weren't valid. That kind of behavior is unacceptable, no matter who is managing the dealership. Buyers, especially women, should be very careful when purchasing a car here--because once the transaction is done, the customer service stops. I understand that Stephanie was not the manager at the time of sale, but it's unreasonable to think I would fabricate a story, call for weeks, and drive from out of state just to redeem a service I was not rightfully promised. Especially considering I continue to bring my vehicle to this dealership for all maintenance and recall needs. This experience showed a complete lack of professionalism, respect, and accountability. If you like to spend 3 hours for an oil change, this is the place for you. They rep told us it takes about an hour..which is already ridiculous for an oil change. We went during middle of the day when it's some what quiet and it still took 3 hours. Imagine coming here for any service during the weekend? I don't think the oil change took that long, it's the fact that people have a special skill set of working extremely slow..to a point that it's crawling. My car must have been done for awhile since they have parked it at the outside lot. The car was extremely hot when they finally drove it out, meaning it's been sitting out in the sun for hours. All the customers waiting in the waiting room literally look like we are waiting for welfare. We waited hours for a simple service. I am more pissed off that we all waited hours to give them money. This place needs better management. If Bay Ridge Honda really cares about their customers, someone from higher up needs to look into what all these people they hired are doing. I went to Bayridge Honda 6:1/24 after trying to get the right deal and car at multiple Honda Dealers in Staten Island, New Jersey, and Long Island. We were greeted immediately upon entering and introduced to Luis Cintron. Luis was friendly, honest, and took the time to answer all of my questions. He explained the features of the Honda Pilot in comparison to other models in the showroom. Luis encouraged me to test drive the Honda Pilot and I was immediately happy with its performance. Unfortunately, I purchased my car in this dealer and the insurance for my rims are done only at their repair shop. I have gone serveral times for the same issue and they continue to mess it up. It's impossible that a garage that has all the up to date equipment keeps f up the job. Stay away or triple check every single number before you sign any paperwork, do not believe anything they say until you actually see it written in contract. They are scamming customers, they lied and stole money from us, and I'm sure they did it to many others. And it's nothing new for them it turns out - back in 2018 Bay Ride Honda was fined by NYS Attorney General and had to pay over $400,000 in penalties and restitution for overcharging and scamming customers. Look it up, it's very easy to find. We have been loyal long time customers of Bay Ridge Honda, we just got 5th car in a row from them between me and my husband (4 leased, 1 bought), 4 of them we got from the same sales person - Stephanie Rivera. We have been happy with them for years, but now Stephanie Rivera, Dave (Vlad) the finance person, and managers (Stephanie or Stefanie, among others) decided to lie and cheat, and basically steal from us. We agreed on monthly lease payment with 0 down payment via text messages with Stephanie. We went to sign the paperwork, were very surprised by big amount we were supposed to pay at signing but Dave (Vlad) didn't want to show us the breakdown and was throwing numbers at us saying that it's from Stephanie so must be right, that taxes are high plus fees. Very surprised, but never expecting to be lied to and taken advantage of after all those years of being their customer, we signed the documents. It was 5th car we were getting from the same place, 4th from the same person, Stephanie would never lie to us we thought... We went over the paperwork as soon as we got home and saw they charged us $1,650 down payment + tax, that we never agreed on and/or approved. It was late evening so I emailed Stephanie requesting refund of the down payment. She called me the next morning acting surprised and trying to convince me that it's not down payment, that it's the way 0 down contracts are structured, etc. Lies. She then said that her manager will call me later that day - nobody called. She texted me later that finance manager will call me - no calls still. I emailed them and finally Stephanie (Stefanie?) the manager called me giving all strange explanations that didn't make sense at all. All lies again. She promised to send me paperwork with correct number of miles the car had when we got it - document said 10, when it was actually 41 miles. If we go over mileage at lease end these 31 miles might make all the difference, but of course she didn't send me the corrected document. I emailed them again - no response. They don't care. Report it to the authorities (State and City), and to Honda corporate office if you were lied to and scammed, businesses like Bay Ridge Honda and their employees should be held responsible for their deceptive practices. read more

The Service Center people are liars, scammers, and crookedly negligent. They're the worst. Two years ago, I went there for an oil change and some idiot there hit a post with the left bumper of my Honda Pilot. And then tried to spray black paint to cover the damage. How stupidly, laughably moronic. They then sent my car to be repaired for a week. When it came back, some other idiot DENTED the door, and I only found out when my brother saw it. It took them another week to fix that. So 2 weeks of my life driving their loaner which stunk to high heavens. Last December, I bought that leased Pilot. These mofos claimed that the car needed to have the wheels balanced (never mind that Plaza Honda balanced it 3 months previous but they claimed Plaza NEVER put that in the computer system) and the fluids topped up. Two days ago, I went to a local mechanic to have the oil changed and to his surprise, the engine coolant plastic tank was EMPTY, the oil 2/3 down, and the brake fluid half empty! How can that be when I only drove less than 5 thousand miles this year? I never checked them coz I trusted them with my life. The Honda Sales Department management and personnel are wonderful and excellent. But the Honda Service Center is the pits. DON'T EVER GO THERE! They're the absolute WORST. read more

Shady practices. I brought my car in with a recall notice. When removing the tires, they broke one of the 5 studs holding the tire on. When I went in to pick up the car, they wanted to charge me $200 to fix what they had broken. I took it to my mechanic, he charged me $20 and said that the part which they broke and could have replaced for me was only $5. Just shady business practice. read more

Went to Bay Ridge Honda to buyout my Lease. Lester "helped" myself and my family out by explaining how we needed to certify our vehicle before buying it out. If we chose not to do so, the dealership would refuse to provide financing options. Lester claimed that the vehicle needed a "multipoint inspection, Tires and whatever else..." before they can help us even consider purchasing it. This is an illegal practice. A dealership must honor the lease buyout price. Needless to say, we went elsewhere and completed our purchase in Manhasset at a reputable, stand up dealership. I will be following up with Honda. Our experience at Bay Ridge Honda was awful. On August 9, 2022, I called the sales representative at 11 am and discussed our needs with him. Our goal was to buy and move the 2019 Honda CR-V EX (Stock R44654) from NY to MA by August 19, with MA plates. The salesperson assured me that this would not be a problem. I was told that I could go to see the vehicle at the branch, coordinate the financing, and then pick it up on August 19, ready for driving. I told the salesperson that I could not afford to go there and discover that the information we received was incorrect after spending two hours going back and forth. I was assured that wouldn't happen. When we arrived at the branch, we discovered that they would not be able to provide MA plates before our move (the day before, a Honda branch in Jersey City told us they could do it). After telling the branch manager what I had been told on the phone by the salesperson, he didn't even apologize. That had been misinformation, he said. That's all. We returned to Manhattan at lunch (1 pm) on possibly the hottest day of the summer. I would not define this experience as "my needs were addressed courteously" and "I received all the information necessary for you to make an informed decision," as a sales representative wrote me the next day via email. I wasn't given an alternative besides getting NY plates and registering the car twice, one here and one in MA, which we wanted to avoid in the first place. I brought my car in to Bay Ridge Honda for a recall from American Honda Motor Co., Inc., which was to check for corrosion in the rear frame. When I called, I was given the appointment date and time I requested; I was informed that Damian would be the service consultant. I received a phone call yesterday confirming the appointment with Damian. When I brought the car in today, I waited on line. When my turn came, I said that Damian was to be my service advisor. I was assured by the gentleman at the desk that he would take care of my appointment. I think that customers are given the names of service advisors, and then arbitrarily assigned according to whoever is at any desk whenever the customers come off the line. I am not complaining, though! My service advisor was Andy Girdhari, and he was a gem. He listened intently to my request that I only have the recall taken care of, and nothing else, at this time. Bay Ridge Honda utilizes an incredibly complex piece of equipment. When I drove into the service area, I waited in my vehicle under an arch of bright lights. I had no idea that the car was being photographed and analyzed, from the age and tread of the tires, to the condition of the undercarriage, to the amount of oil in the motor, to the cosmetic condition of the vehicle. Andy went over the results of the scans on his computer with me, showing and explaining the areas that my car needed attention. Since I had clearly stated that I only wanted to address the recall issue, he did not try to pressure me to buy the recommended services. Andy was honest, patient, and professional. He told me that the recall would take several hours; it took nearly three. I would be pleased to have Andy Girdhari as my service advisor again. read more

Most of the team members were professional and the car selection was good. I was ready to buy so the overall experience was good. After the car was purchased I feel like the sales rep did a good job at following up and offering their help if need be. The representative I signed my final papers with was very friendly, personable, and for me made me feel good about my purchase before walking out the door (which is a big deal). The things that I feel this dealership could work on as a knowledgeable car buyer but first time dealer purchaser: - transparency about insurance options. For example, the insurance representative working at Honda only offered me one plan for $3,000+/6 months, but I was able to find a third party that's highly reputable for $1600/ 6 months. The sales representative was clearly not excited about this idea of shopping around even though the time investment of 30 min and savings of a net $2400/year is clearly worth it to the customer. You're already spending a lot of money, and I understand that Honda has its partners/beneficiaries, but it would be better customer service and would build trust between the customer and dealer for further negotiations about the options that provide more value for the dealership/customer relations such as protection plans. - The sales representative was a little impatient despite the fact that I was 100% committed to purchasing a car for the offered price. He was a nice person, and I understand the push for same day sales and the psychology behind it, but better recognition of who's there to 100% buy and who's still on the fence would make the experience for those who intend to buy a little more enjoyable. thanks for the new (used certified) car and I'm looking forward to sharing it with my partner. read more

I purchased a vehicle from them last May, and they lied to me about the big tax break I was going to get for purchasing the Honda Insight. Even though it is a hybrid, it is not eligible for a tax break. Also, the manager undercut me on my trade in cause there was an Uber sticker on the window. Another dealership quoted me for $9,000 and they only offered $7,500. I was able to get them to $8000, but I still took a lose. And now that I'm doing my taxes and I'm not getting this huge tax break they kept bragging about. I will never purchase or recommend anyone visit their dealership. read more

When I picked up my new CRV off of a new lease, Betty Lala (the sales consultant)accepted my old vehicle back and promised to coordinate its return to the leasing company. Unfortunately the leasing company is claiming only one key fob was returned even though both keys were handed over to Betty. After several attempts to discuss the situation with Betty as well as John Marino the Manager, neither have had the courtesy to return my attempts at clarification of this situation.
