Went to Hilna Tires when I first purchased my new Jeep Wrangler in 2017 to have larger Cooper tires installed. They ordered the 295/70/17 STT Pro mud tires I wanted and they came in within a few days. They called me and I came in to have them installed and balanced. Drove away and they were perfect. Just came in again in 2023 as they had over 70k mikes on them and replaced them with new Coopers. Same good price and service. I also had them change front brake pads at the same time. Great price, service and the owner is a very nice guy and very hands on with his crew of good techs. Highly recommended. read more

My initial review of this den of thief, singular, was two stars, primarily because they employed the most mechanically brilliant, straightforward, reliable and always helpful mechanic in Brooklyn. Ronny could diagnose and repair anything and everything on a car. If conventional methods didn't work, he kept trying different things until he found the solution. Since Ronny finally came to his senses and moved on, there's really no reason for anyone not to go to one of the many other shops in the area. The owner of Hilna, the eminent Louie Gelman is nasty, obnoxious and often verbally abusive. He has more used tires filling every area of his shop than he could possibly sell in fifteen lifetimes. He could squeeze so much blood out of a dime, you have to wonder why his hands are always filthy black from grime, and not red. And he will charge regular long term customers as much as three times more than almost any other mechanic will charge. If Louie gets lost under his tires one day, and if Ronny comes back and takes over, keeping Jimmy and the other honest and competent mechanics who have worked there for many years, this would truly be an amazing shop. As it is, it has one major serious fault that makes many people like me walk away and never look back. That flaw, of course, is a cheap nasty little hustler named Louie. read more

My dad and I were recommended HILNA by our collision guy Mikey Rodz of Atlantic Auto Spa so we went - I was very happy we did . I bought 4 new tires and my son bought 4 new tires the week after . The young man that helped us was very polite in his salesmenship showing me and my son all our options and prices - even a cash discount . The price included the 4 tires and removal of old ones and mounting +balancing . It was a great experience . My son then went today and dealt w Louie who was very kind and courteous . He made the sale - got the tires out and my son was out within an hour . He said he was impressed how Louis went around to all the waiting and arriving customers to check on them . Great Fast service ! Great prices ! In my opinion how can others give a " bad review". Thanks HILNA !!! Jimmy and Gary read more

Went to them today 10/29 with a thumbing noise coming from my r/s front. I took a drive around the block with one of the mechanics, he said it was a large nail in my tire , any other place could have ripped me off. They fixed the tire, and I wanted a wheel alignment, which they did. The price for both was very reasonable. Will be back. read more

Don't go here , terrible people the guy who helped me for a simple inspection very rude , I was asking a simple question and he cursed back at me , don't recommend to go here ! read more

The largest tire selection in Brooklyn great service guarantee the best prices in New York in New Jersey. Highly recommended.

This review is based strictly upon my experience not on their work on cars Came to this shop because I was directed by Michelin to go to an authorized dealer. My normal tire shop wasn't an authorized dealer unfortunately. I had a tire that had a bubble on the sidewall so wanted to get it checked out to see if it would be covered by warranty. I went in and was directed to Antonio who was very quick to help me out. He came out and quickly assessed my tire and verified that it was damage from an impact so unfortunately it wouldn't be covered. Then we went back into the shop and he told me that the tire would cost $250. It would be $237 on tire rack after shipping and tax by the way. I then asked if I could order from tire rack (tire rack has a great road hazard warranty program) and have it delivered at the shop and installed which he said was fine After that, I asked if he could measure my tire tread depth since my car is AWD and the depths need to be similar or the same or it'll put stress on the power train. He then went off on me and saying that was a stupid idea and that I can go masturbate on that idea or whoever said that to me. I then proceeded to say that for AWD cars, I've seen it before and he still continues to go on bashing on that information. All I wanted was my tread depth measured and I got an earful of nonsense. This was my first and last time coming here. I will definitely not be coming back. He was nice enough to direct me out of a tight spot to leave after that read more

Came in for new set of tires great on my nissan great quality got a Full set very good work

Hilna Tires is the last of a dying breed: a small, no-nonsense, honest company that does excellent work. Can Louis be curt? Of course, like anyone else. But just imagine his tough clientele. Everybody tries to nickel & dime him. I have witnessed men try to negotiate down already reasonable prices. Louis has had our business for over 2 decades and we have total confidence in him. Don't take the abruptness so personally! He's a gem. read more

Overall bad taste of the experience.Needed help to fix my tire . Thx for fixing it. Was the valve issue. I asked how much no answer maybe 20-40$ Asked to get my job done they asked me 40$ the max price np My2 stars begins from here : After i paid they rushed me out ( its tight to get out even i have 20 years or driving experience )mentioned about we need a tip we work for tip( I am new yorker and i decide when i tip, its not mandatory ). U dont act like that lower your attitude. And the overall price in nY is 20-30$ and we are in Bk stilwell . They are many other shops way more friendly and easier to get in there . I wouldn't send my gf there with the new drivers license read more

Unprofessional, arrogant, & rude. Louie threw money at my father, screamed at him in front of his employees, & grabbed his arm all because my father didn't pull his car in front of the shop for his inspection to be done. My father asked one of the employees where he should pull in & was told he can pull in on the side of the shop. DO NOT use Hilna unless you want to be treated like garbage. If there was an option for zero stars I would give it, he does not deserve the one star given. read more

The mechanics there are good but the owner, Louie, can be nasty. I would not recommend them for that reason.

Came here for new tires and was happy with the end result. No frills, its a tire shop expect to walk in with cash and out with a nice set of tires. Very competitive rates and fast service. 30 mins in and out. read more

Louie is a great guy and one of the most honest tire.mechanic shops you will ever come across. I worked for him as a kid and he has been my auto tech for 30 years now, His staff is caring and they take care of your car. And are careful not to scratch the rims or the paint. They always go the extra mile and never try to sell you something you dont need. read more

I have been a customer of Hilna Tires for over 30 years! Most currently I've been bringing in my daughters 2013 Nissan Rogue for repairs, inspections and whatever else the SUV needs. Louie always goes above and beyond for his customers and I absolutely love Louie! He is an honest and wonderful guy! His mechanics Ronnie and Al are fantastic, and the place is run to perfection thanks to the leadership of Louie and the respect that his staff has for him! He is not a boss that sits on his butt, he gets down and dirty with the rest of them and works his ass off for his customers! Louie will be seeing me for many more years to come. Thank you Louie! Hilna Tires is the Very Best! Your forever loyal customer, Bonnie read more

Had 2 tires low on air, they wouldn't even check the tires unless I committed to buying tires.

The owner is extremely rude and treat customers like garbage. I pulled up to the service area and he started yelling at me for getting out of my car. Shame on you to be in a service business. read more

I usually am not a complainer, but changing my (4) tires at hilna has been frustrating. - I changed my tires in December 2021 & ever since my tpms light has popped on. I brought it back- they checked all the sensors- sensors were good, but low pressure in (1) tire so they adjusted it. - I then took a 3 hour drive- tpms light came back on when I drove 60 & above- then switched to low tire pressure light. - I brought it back & they now say I need to change (1) tire pressure sensor- so I did- told me the blinking tire pressure light would turn off after 15 mins- in 20 mins it turned off & the tpms light came back on- I give up on hilna- I'm just going to pay for my mechanic to review & charge me whatever it takes to fix this, but I would never use hilna again. read more

I purchased tires online and was connected to this business. I got my tires changed, got an inspection done, and it was simple and seamless. The gentlemen were courteous and polite, and my first experience there was really good. I think I found my automotive spot. read more

I have been a satisfied customer of Hilna tires for 31 years and have never had difficulty with them, until my recent visit. I came to buy four new tires for my Nissan and in the process of having the old tires removed, I was told that a lug nut was frozen and that it would take time to remove. I waited while a worker used an air wrench, then a chisel, to no avail.... This same worker then left for about 20 minutes and returned with an acetylene torch and proceeded to heat the lug nut, in an effort to release it. The worker took over five minutes to simply light the torch and that should have been enough of a red flag to me for his inexperience. He proceeded to use the torch to heat/melt the lug nut, or so I thought....What he was ACTUALLY doing, was melting the existing lug nut opening, on the wheel itself, making a hole large enough to pull the tire off, OVER the frozen lug nut....Two other workers came over after the fact and actually shook their heads over the wheel that now lay on the ground. When i complained, I was told that it was the only option available and that I shouldn't worry, because I didn't really need to have five lug nuts. A simple search will tell you that driving with a missing lug nut, can be dangerous and that it can cause harm to the wheel bearings. Since the damage was already done, I accepted the fact that I could do nothing, but then was told that I would be charged $88.00 plus tax ($94.00) for the privilege of having my wheel destroyed, after having just purchased $488.00 worth of new tires. They told me that they MIGHT be able to find a used wheel for my car, but it would cost me "about $75.00:....I declined. They would not release my car until I paid the additional $94.00 and I did so, under protest. I took the car to my long-time mechanic who told me that ANY tire shop should have had the proper equipment on hand, let alone a technician who had the proper knowledge and experience to remove the frozen lug nut, properly. I had to incur the expense of buying a new wheel for the car, because of Hilna's worker's incompetence. One would THINK that they would have at LEAST admitted their error and not charged me for destroying my wheel, or at LEAST offered me another wheel for free, to compensate for their mistake. 31 Years of loyalty to a local business did not mean as much to them as covering their asses because of a worker's incompetence. I liked shopping there because of their prices and their efficiency, but their disregard of that loyalty means the end of my business relationship with them. Reprehensible..... read more

This is an old-fashioned no frills tire store that also had an up to sate web presence. I was able to select the tires I wanted for my Subaru Outback and get an emailed price quote (with a discounted price). The next day I drove there, had my new tires installed and get a wheel alignment with very little waiting. A= service! read more

When a "mechanic"is scared to fix a broken brake Line to factory specs and says it will take three days, but calls you the same day and has a half assed job that breaks later do you really think I'm gonna trust them again with any facett of my vehicles? Typical. Bring them an old car, they say it's not worth fixing. Bring them a newer car they mess it up. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Terrible customer service!!!!!The owner Lewis attitude is arrogant and aggressive! My Dad came to the shop to purchase new tires for my BMW. He doesn't speak English well and he hoped they could assist him to pick the good tires. My Dad showed owner Lewis some pictures of tires that we need. The owner mumbled something and my Dad kindly asked to speak a little bit slowly. Instead of that the owner Lewis yelled at him and screamed "This is my business, my business!" My Dad left very upset and frustrated. Stay away from the place! read more

This will be my second time going to Hilna tires for my tired needs. the staff is quick, attentive and the price is fantastic.

Service was good my only concern was that there really wasn't a waiting area for the customers. I had to wait outside and somehow caught a Bronchitis. Still recuperating. read more

Service was alright, wish the staff was more friendly but then again it is a tire shop so they move on a "get in then get out" aspect if that makes any sense. Just wish it was more welcoming. read more

Called for a quote was placed on hold for 10 minutes and when the guy finally answered he was a jerk. I am sorry if I am nice enough to hold for you for 10 minutes and you can't wait 5 seconds for me to read info on tire size then you won't be getting my business. Thumbs down After the response I read from Louie I will respond : the same day I went to another tire shop I got everything I needed which were 4 new tires and balancing and alignment. They were nice to me from the moment I called and was not hung up on. Good you are hiring people to do a better job than employees who obviously should not be doing certain jobs. Just a memo to the owner ... it's better to leave a message than have a rude person answer the phone and hang up on me. read more

This is my go to mechanic and very pleased. I brought in my vehicle at 8am and by 9:04 they called me back saying it's done. I needed an oil change, car inspection and to check my brakes. I ended up here one day when I went for a yearly car inspection elsewhere, only to find out I had 2 bald tires on the verge of a blowout. I was desperate to find a tire shop, and arrived here based on the recommendation of an auto parts store a couple neighborhoods over. I was especially wary of being ripped off, showing up by myself in an auto place, but was never pressured into paying for any extra services or parts beyond what I needed. There seemed to be a couple father-son duos working the shop, and plenty of returning customers. I got a great price on the tires, and was even recommended against replacing my tires with the same, overpriced ones. The tires were promptly changed, and they did the inspection as well. The guy John was a great help and even wrote down for me when to return for a $10 tire rotation service. I'd definitely trust these guys to handle any future car issues honestly. Be prepared to pay in cash and you'll save yourself a couple bucks. read more

I was calling around to see which place will give the best price to mount and balance two tires that I bought from Tire Rack, Size 18. Whoever said this place has the best price I wonder how much of a kickback you're getting! They want to charge $38 per tire to mount, balance, and dispose of!!! That is insane!!! I ended up going to Kem Auto Good Year cost me $15 to do the job! read more

These guys saved me $100 more than any other place in New York and were a mere $24 more total than what TireRack.com listed (and I didn't have to pay and wait for them to be delivered!). John helped me out, and he reminded me, as well, that they'll do a rotation for $10 in 7k miles. If you need tires, this is a Brooklyn gem, but be sure to research which tires you want before you call them. read more
