I am writing this review to express my dissatisfaction with my last visit at Salon Soy. This particular visit would be my second and my appointment was scheduled with Tangi. I have seen Tangi's color (highlights) work so I thought she would be the perfect person to give me a single color process. My color goal - cover my highlights which varied in shades of warm browns. To be sure that I communicated the exact color I had in mind, I brought in a picture of Zoe Saldana; her hair color is a rich dark brown color. First strike - unbeknownst to me, Tangi does not do short hair. She then asked around the salon to see if anyone else could take me; Kita said she would. Next there was this back & forth between Tangi & Kita as to who would do my color. Tangi acquiesced - I showed her the picture of Zoe Saldana and I again told her that I wanted to cover my highlights [completely]. She acknowledged that she understood and was then off to mix the color. I feel that her consultation was totally incomplete. She showed me no color swatches to ensure that we were on the same page and she did not even question the last time I had shampooed my hair - which had not been shampooed in several days. Tangi applied my color and went through the motions of letting it process and then shampooing out the color. Then the waiting game began. Since Tangi does not do short hair, I had to wait for Kita to take time out from her client to even mold my hair - which was a wait not in excess of 30 minutes. Kita finally took a moment to mold my hair but made a point of tugging through my half natural/half relaxed hair. Due to her roughness - there were chunks of my hair in the comb after she finished. Then I was directed to the dryer. Once dry I used the restroom and much to my horror my hair was not this rich dark brown as I saw in the picture but my hair was almost black - which looked awful and very severe against my complexion. But wait, it gets better - as I am waiting and being subjected to this wonderful (heavy sarcasm) client experience, I get the pleasure of watching Tangi glam-up her Dolly Parton-esque weave by sewing-in colored tracks of hair (highlights). That's nice - put off a paying customer so you can take care of your beauty needs. I arrived PROMPTLY at the salon for my 2:30 PM appointment - I was not finished until 5:30 PM. Another big gripe with Kita - she kept telling me that I needed my ends trimmed, despite me telling her several times that they had just been trimmed a couple of days prior. When Kita finished my hair and I examined it in the mirror what do I see...bleed-through, where not all of my highlights had been covered. I immediately questioned Kita - who begins asking me questions as if I am the professional. All of a sudden Tangi speaks up to defend her work in a highly defensive manner. Enough already - I put my ordeal to bed. I paid (begrudgingly) - did not tip and I tell Soy on the spot that I was highly dissatisfied. I definitely feel that I was taken for granted. That I was underestimated to be some hum drum customer that has never received five star service from a salon - not only by the professional but also by the way of customer service. My intent in writing this review is to help others that are looking for a five star salon get closer to and/or achieve their goal. Game over for salons that cannot deliver to their customers expectations. read more
