I went to the ocean and somehow got my hair so tangled I couldn't get the tangled out. 1st time in my life. I walked in and she offered to help me so she took her time and saved the day! She has many clients shed's had for decades who come back time and time again. She only takes cash and also trims women's hair but doesn't do women's cuts. I am very disappointed they have not returned my deposit. I have worked with the manager Tonya, also TRIED tirelessly working with Doug Caister on this matter for MONTHS! The salon itself is very contemporary, clean, and the kind of place you would want to "git mah hair did" at. I would advise anyone and everyone to steer clear of Samantha Bonno at Salon Republic(Double Take Salon). She is extremely unprofessional and just plain brash. She was completely rude to me about the condition of my hair and would not give me any suggestions on how to fix it. My stylist, Melissa Mercado was previously with Kisma now MFX salon, when they changed over the whole vibe of the salon changed as well :( I'm happy that Melissa and Michelle decided to take the plunge and go out on their own. Melissa Mercado is a fantastic hair stylist who just recently relocated to Salon Republic. She has been cutting my hair for a couple of years now. In fact, she took me from very long blah hair to a super cute pixie, and I've never looked back. Last week, I went to a restaurant for lunch and the server came up to take our order and said "Oh wow! Basically it is a place where the "independents" can lease their own space and make the experience completely unique to them. I have followed Michelle for the last 14 years and I am so excited that she is able to realize her dream of having her own space and salon. She is a class act and likely the best colorist in town! BILL IS THE BEST! I recently moved from L.A. to Austin. I'm a dark blonde naturally, with long hair, and I like COOL toned highlights. Dropped $200 for color and cut at another salon, and came out ORANGE! Luckily bumped into Bill, who works at Salon Republic on Fri/Sat. He's a MIRACLE WORKER! Gave me a gorgeous cut, cool highlights, and managed to correct some of the atrocious orange so I look human again instead of like a new breed of ninja turtle (ok they don't have hair, but still). It will take a few more sessions to fully fix it, but WOW what a difference. As a comparison, another hairdresser I went to looked at the orange and literally shook her head in disgust and seemed very doubtful about being able to do anything with it other than chop it off. BILL- Thank you! He's extremely reasonable in pricing as well, and honestly better than my LA hairdresser. So lucky I found him, he saved my hair. read more

I am a client of Melissa Mercado now at Salon Republic. I previously was a client at MFX salons. I moved from NY and was hesitant about finding a new hair dresser. I absolutely love Melissa and thinks she's fantastic! I moved to Salon Republic with Melissa as her customer service is awesome and she is truly for her clients...this is much appreciated after I was shell shocked by the cost at MFX salons as well as the fact that when I had an appointment after the move, I was not told that they had changed their address by the person calling to confirm appointments. I thought it would be a common courtesy to inform a client that the location has moved. Anyways, I am very happy I followed Melissa to Salon Republic and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I also love that the prices are reasonable and it's convenient to have a nail spa right there! Everyone at Salon Republic is very friendly and makes you feel at home versus a more corporate feeling at the other salon.
