Like many women close to me, I've straightened, blow dried, and applied all kinds of products to hide my curls. She also stood talking to the owner for fifteen minutes while I patiently waited to be seen (there was only one other customer in the salon). The entire experience was unprofessional. Richie Rockstar did an amazing job on my hair! I went to Richie Rockstar after reading lots of GREAT reviews about his work. I've been cutting my hair myself for years now, because I haven't found anyone who had really listened and done exactly what I wanted, until I decided to go to Richie Rockstar. This time, my hair was very damaged and, attempting to save it, I decided to keep cutting it myself, but I made serious mistakes. Richie Rockstar not only fixed them all, but he also brought the haircut together and gave life to my hair again! We did a deep conditioning, and he also corrected a few strands of colored hair to better blend in the color I had. The result was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I've been going to Theresa for devacuts for about 2 years now. She's amazing! I usually just get a trim and a some layers, but during the most recent visit I went for a completely different style and got bangs. I was nervous about it, and she took baby steps (started with a side bang to get a better idea before I made a final decision). I appreciate that she will explain the steps and the products she's applying, and offers a full range of deva services (deep conditioning, build-up buster, pintura highlights, etc). The atmosphere is very chill and welcoming. You do need to plan ahead a little, as Theresa's books usually fill quickly! Totally worth it though. The salon itself is very cute and clean on the inside. All the chairs are comfortable if you have to sit for a while. My stylist, Richie was amazing! I came in with hair I didn't know what do with, and not only did he cut and style my hair perfectly, but he also taught me how to reproduce the look on my own at home. His techniques took my hair from frizzy to sleek and voluminous. He was also able to cut bangs for me that I absolutely love. He really knows curly hair and was able to finesse my mixed hair. Theresa Damron, the owner, has been my stylist for about 20-years. I've been to Hollywood stylists who charged me double what she does and her work is on-par or better than theirs. She's a kind, genuine lady and that's important when someone's your stylist. More so, her technique is precise, she knows the latest techniques, she's trained and certified as a Deva/curly-hair stylist in NYC, she's also a national color-expert. She's been a platform artist for several international companies (What does that mean? She trains other stylists!). The salon hosts training events--so the team are all skilled on the newest trends. Also, I have to say that I've sent a number of friends to her, over the years and their hair style and color has never looked better, except when they move out of state and she can't do their hair anymore. I waited a week following my visit to Damron Salon to post a review. Why? Because in the past I have been disappointed in a haircut a few days after having my hair done. That sure didn't happen last week! From the time I entered the salon till I left with my new 'do, I was a partner with Richie in the process of improving my curls. The salon is clean, adorable, and bright and sunny, definitely a cheery little boutique. I see Lyndsey for my cuts and keratin treatments. What sets her apart from other stylists I've seen is her attention to detail and the TIME that she takes to ensure your mane is perfect. The prices are great, and she really makes you feel welcome and beautiful. She also does my best friends color and it is always stunning and perfect for the season we are in. Lyndsey is also a great make up artist! She worked on some folks I know for a photo shoot (male and female) and the makeup was natural and complimentary to their already great features. You would never have known that man had a full face of make up on lol! The salon has Deva Curl and Kevin Murphy in stock, great products. I was also told that they do facials and lash extensions. If you have curly or wavy hair and have spent your life wearing it straight because you can't figure out curly hair--this is the place for you! I've had Valerie and Theresa do Deva cuts and it's just been life-changing. Theresa cut my hair last week and really spent a lot of time talking to me about what to do, how to do it, why my hair does what it does, etc. She even has a hand-out to take home that will walk you through the steps. These ladies take their time with you--they know how it is to take the leap of faith to wearing hair naturally. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and the salon is wonderful. I have had the worst luck finding a stylist that does what I want AND stays put and doesn't disappear for greener pastures. After wearing my hair long (and usually up in a clip) for many months out of sheer laziness and dread of the search, I decided I wanted to try a shorter cut AND try to bring out what little curl I do have. I had most of the length cut off by an independent stylist who did a nice job, but blew my hair on a round brush, giving me a nice style, but not really what I wanted. Not short enough and smooth and straight. Nice, but not what I *want*. I did an online search for salons that offer Deva Cuts, having been pleased in the past with a previous Deva cut and style (from a stylist that is no longer available) and I found this salon which is right near my neighborhood--a definite plus. I was fortunate to schedule an appointment with Theresa Damron who is one of the salon owners. She listened to what I wanted, made recommendations and observations and gave me exactly what I asked for. I have just had my second cut and am again very happy with the results. I'm trying a new style for me, and she nailed it. And I know enough to be able to recognize an excellent cut. She definitely knows what she's doing. And as a salon owner, I expect she's not going to vanish. A definite plus for me. Another favorite: the shampoo sinks have a platform for your head to rest on. The most comfortable shampoo I've ever had in a salon. No neck strain! The decor is lovely. They've made the most of their space, with lots of warmth and sparkle. Was in town on vacation and could not stand another day of my bad haircut. I was so unhappy with my former stylist of 8 years in Colorado that I had issues trusting anyone else that would even be willing give me a haircut. Stopped by the super-cute, shabby chic salon by chance and after some lengthy discussions with Valerie, decided to give her a try. She did an AMAZING job! Not only did she fix my hair, she gave me confidence there are stylists that listen to their client's requests. I'm not exaggerating, this is the best haircut I have ever had. I had recently moved to Austin and was referred to see Val! I had been going to the same hair stylist for 12 years so I was a bit nervous to try a new place! Val was AWESOME and didn't disappoint!!! The salon is beautiful and offers some yummy coffee/tea. Val was very professional and kind. She took the time to get to know my hair and what I wanted done to it. I went to Katie Reeves for the first time for highlights and trim. She was very focused and intent on getting it right the first time. She spent some time going over the exact color we were going to use and decided on lowlights for the first visit. My hair needed some contrast so she adjusted the color so that you can actually see the difference between the highlights and lowlights. (prior to going to her my hair was one huge bleached, blonde, highlighted mess from a different stylist and salon.) My hair was a "hot mess", but Katie got it back to normal. I will go back to Katie at Damron & Company. What a beautiful salon tucked away on Anderson Mill Road. Everyone was super nice in there. I would definitely recommend Katie Reeves. Ritchie cut my hair on Friday 17 August. I told him what I was thinking about, he LISTENED, and asked some questions. After that I showed him a photo which he took into consideration. Then the first thing he did was to cut my bangs while they were still dry! This was brilliant because all too often I have gone home with bangs that are too short because my hair was wet when they were cut. It's such a beautiful salon! I had my first experience here today with Valerie and I could not be more happy. The salon was clean and bright. The staff was friendly and warm. My stylist Valerie was on time. I was nervous about getting my hair cut in a curly style. I've never worn my hair full time curly before. Valerie is a Devacurl specialist. Right off the bat, I felt comfortable and I just trusted her to do what she does. She taught me so much. I feel she really did the best with what God meant for my hair to look like. I no longer will fight to try to keep it straight. She also gave me some highlights and lowlights which look more natural than I've ever had. All of this in just two hours. In all my life, my salon visits have always been 3.5-5 hours! As much as I'd be willing to sit that long for good hair, it's sure nice not to have to!
