Salon Persia seemed to be the only hair salon opened on a day that my hair needed to be styled. I went for the "European" blowout as a walk in. There was only one stylist on hand and he juggled the ringing phones and my hair as well as another client. I had never had a "European" blow out (FYI: it's nothing like a Brazilian blowout, I have no need for those). The stylist separated my hair into sections and right after blow drying a piece, he would roll the hair section into a round bristle brush and leave the brush hanging in my hair. I had a good number of round brushes in my hair at the end. I was a little hesitant since he worked so fast and I was worried that the hanging brushes were going to weigh down on my hair and make it flat but when he took out the brushes I became a believer. My hair was shiny, bouncy, and perfect. For the record I dislike using alot of product in my hair and he used TWO hair products tops on my hai I was in and out of the salon in about 30 mins. I'm no dirtball (I did not want to style my hair on my own while on vacation while lacking my favorite products) but my hair was perfect for like 3 days following my visit. I will definitely visit again whenever I return to Providence. read more

Went in as a walk-in to get just my bangs trimmed, and I specified that I wanted the length of my bangs to be above my eyes but below my eyebrows... Well, it was definitely above my eyes, but not below my eyebrows. The stylists there did not seem too welcoming, and the hair stylist did not bother to ask what kind of bangs I wanted to have and accidentally gave me a blunt one when I originally had a side-swept one "because I thought it was supposed to be blunt". Overall, not the best haircut, not the best service, definitely not going there again even for a trim. read more

I used to have to go to New York for Japanese straightening, until I found salon Persia on yelp. Not only do I not have to travel the 3-4 hours but it's a much more pleasant experience (instead of the production line setup of where I used to go), and the staff is much more knowledgeable when it comes to keeping your hair healthy in the process. I wish I didn't go there. Even though the haircut turned out more or less OK and the blow dry made my hair look really smooth and shiny. But excluding the professional side of that visit my experience was overall bad. The person who did my haircut was on the phone every 5 minutes and I felt like I was bothering him. Also the way my stylist addressed me was barking-like and very uncomfortable - in the end I started responding with "I am sorry ", "My pardon sir", "I am so sorry I didn't know that", etc. or I was just silent. I guess this manner of talking gave a really hard time to the salon receptionist. The young lady couldn't understand what my stylist wanted her to do and he kept "barking" commands at her, and in the end the girl ran away into a staff room crying. I felt so bad for her... When I was ready to pay and escape from that place I was told that they didn't accept cards so I had to leave to get cash and then come back. read more

I have been a consistent customer of this place for the past 6 years. I always got a quality cut at a decent price but things were not so good at my most recent visit. Some of the newer barbers are not so skilled or friendly and the management has hiked the price to $23 for a standard male haircut. I have been coming to get my haircuts from Nicholas (Zakhia) Chedid for almost 7 years and had gotten a cut from Wassim as well. Both are experts at their craft and I always leave my appointments happy with the result. Nicholas has clients coming from places as far as Connecticut and Boston and I've witnessed a number of amazing transformations on a number of ladies when waiting for my appointments to start. The first time I visited Salon Persia, I had a job interview the next day and needed emergency impromptu haircut. Before Wassim cut my hair, me made sure to note exactly what I wanted done, and made helpful suggestions as well. It was clear he was an expert at what he was doing, and every cut seemed calculated and precise- no dabbling around or trial and error-type approach that other stylists seem to take with my very curly and rather unruly hair. By the end of the cut the floor was covered in hair but the length was maintained as I'd requested and my hair came to life with body and movement. Throughout, it was a very relaxing experience and I felt pampered, but even better was my new look. I loved the result so much that I recommended Wassim to my mother as well. We are both now regular customers with a very happy experience each time. I pay about $33 plus tip for a wash, cut, and dry (under the auto-dryer, not a blowout). Highly recommend Wassim and his business for a great look at a reasonable, student-friendly cost. By the way, my job interview was a bust, but at least my hair looked fabulous! read more

Called in for an appointment at 6 , receptionist did not inform me it was closing time , confirmed and same day vice president joe biden visited providence , roads were blocked and there was traffic , called them and nicholas picked up informed him i was going to be 20 mins late because of the above reason , said it was fine and that he was waiting for me Reached the salon , saw the lights closed except one light , he gave me a look and said he was going to close and that i should leave , i said ok ill come tommorow then , he changed his mind later on , kept complaining on how he had to go which made the entire experience quite bitter and unpleasant Showed him pictures of how i wanted to get my hair done , said he knew exactly how to do it , after cutting for a while it wasnt at all how i mentioned it to him , said he'll make some additions , still it wasnt same as how i cut it back home , later he said he couldnt style it that way because of differences in the constitution of water in the US and Bahrain , noticed my side burns were not cut at same level , 3-4 centimeters of a difference , his work was pretty rookie and unproffessional , i was very disappointed When it came to payment , i showed him my student ID card for discount , said he couldnt process it even though a clear notice was on the counter that they accept student ID for discount Overall a very unpleasant experience , worst salon experience in my life ( not exaggerating ) both customer service wise and work-wise ! definitely looking elsewhere for a haircut the next time ! read more

I love Salon Persia! I no longer live in Providence but I miss being able to run out of my dorm and get fabulous eyebrows and highlights. Nikolas is the best, I got a ton of compliments about my highlights, the color was perfect, not brassy or yellow or too white...he told me he had worked in Paris doing models hair...I don't know if that's true but I felt like a model everytime I got my hair done. The eyebrow threading here is weird. He shapes the brows just fine with the thread, but then he does a strange plucking thing afterwards with tweezers. The whole point of threading is to not pluck! Definitely not a huge fan. Luckily I found G Spot down the street soon after, and am much happier with the threading there. read more

I like Salon Persia very much -- consistently get serious compliments when I leave there. I wish I could do with my own hair what Wassim can do! The price is also very good and I like the soft sounds rather than the noise of too many other salons (I've been to quite a few in the area). I saw comments about the phone interruptions, and it's true, but at least when he is working on my hair he is not in a full-blown conversation with another stylist, as I've experienced too often at other places. Nicholas is the only hairdresser I will ever see. I have been going to him for the past 4 years for highlights and a trim. Two years ago I made the mistake of going to another hairdresser because I was living a couple hours away for the summer.
