Exactly what I needed!!! I just move here recently and needed my hair trimmed. I have had the same stylist for 20 years so going to someone new was scary for me. I felt so unwelcomed in this salon. It is my first time visiting a salon in Citrus Heights after we moved here from Bay Area. I regret that of all many salons in here, I chose Salon Maxx and I felt embarassed by one of their staff. I went there for haircut only coz I dont have time to stay longer due to my kid and hubby waiting for me in the car. She was very accomodating at first but kept on pushing me to get more of their services such as highlights, color, mani/pedi, etc. I asked how much for highlights and to my surprise she offered me more than $300. Mind you my hair is shoulder length. I told her I'll do it next time, then she started to feel disappointed and kinda bitchy. When another customer came, I felt like she was rushing to cut my hair. What irritates me the most was when she blow dry my hair, her fingers gliding through my hair really fast and even poke my eye. She didn't even say sorry or anything. Suddenly, she stops the hair dryer and quickly went straight to the counter. I was like "that's it???" MY HAIR IS STILL WET but she's in the counter already waiting for my payment. I am so disappointed at the service I received and I don't have the time to argue at that moment so I just pay and leave. NEVER EVER GOING TO VISIT THIS SALON AGAIN!!! read more

Bad service, Mai did my lashes and she said she has been doing lashes for a long time so I trusted her not knowing that she will just ruin it. She did eye lash extensions but everything is falling off and the glue stings so much while she was doing it. She asked me to go back so she can fix it but same thing happened. Poor quality and she was even mad because she was not able to take her lunch because she have to fix my lashes and it was her who booked the appointment to fix it. She was rude when I went there. I asked for a refund but she don't want to give back my money. So I paid her the full amount for doing a bad service. Not a good place to go. read more

I don't understand the negative comments, but go figure, some people just do that. I have been a client of Mai's for 16 years now and consider her my good friend as well. I can say with all honesty that she is the best in her craft and so is her sister, who also works in the salon. They are both professional and very nice and make you feel welcome. They have lots of faithful clients, some of which travel quite a distance to have their nails done by them. With so many nail salons out there, they really are a dime a dozen, but not here. They take their time with you and I have NEVER observed any pedicure/manicure that took under 45 minutes to an hour to complete, so I would take the negative review about a 10 minute pedicure with a grain of salt. I love the fact that I have Mai as my only manicurist and I don't have to wonder each time Who will do my nails. The simple fact is that you can't go wrong here! I get loads of compliments from strangers every day on my nails--even from men! I can't tell you how many times i have referred people to Mai. I will forever be her client, as long as she will have me! The salon is truly beautiful as well! It is clean, modern, and inviting! Called for a request of an appt to get nails done during my lunch break. Went in, and Mai approached me by the door. Super friendly!! She spoke to me the whole time while getting my nails done. I know some ppl prefer silence, and sometimes I do.. But I enjoyed talking to her. Very friendly, great person. Did my nails beautifully, in a timely manner got back to work just on time. I think twice about coming here. My husband bought me a coupon at Christmas time 125 bucks to get eyelashes done. I came in to let them know that I had lost my coupon. It was gone to no longer had it I mean is no longer to be found. I was told there's nothing she could do about it. That somebody else might come in and use it. I said, so i'm out a hundred twenty five bucks then . Without hesitation, she walked away from me.. She had no remorse or compassion at all whatsoever. Its not cool. Customer service like that is rude and very unprofessional. And yeah I'm a dummy for losing my coupon but she's a dummy for not recording who bought it... just saying very very shity customer service. read more

If I'm being honest, the ladies were very nice, they are talented stylest, if they did what you asked them to do. My hair turned out nice, but opposite of what I asked. When I complained she had every excuse as to why it's like this, thinking I don't know anything, she wasn't willing to fix it, she argued that they used a lot of product already, and the last was on her feet 3 hours for what they charged me. So I said I you have me a discount, so you give me a discounted color is what your saying, she said enjoy it now, and I'll only charge you 85 next time. I look at the price chart and that's what the root touch up starts at, she said, we don't go by that, the more we do the more we charge. Of course, but don't say you're discounting me and charge me the price you charge already. I am sad to leave this bad review because I think the ladies were very personable, very talented, and sweet, so if you don't care how your hair turns out they are great, if you have a specific look, you might not get it. So very sorry but it's bad business not to care about your clients. read more

I made an appointment spur of the moment,i wanted to change my hair before going on a birthday trip that weekend.I'd been calling other salons and not getting callbacks for days on end. I called here and the owner handed me over to Laina who fit me in THAT day,I wanted an extremely layered cut,along with a color job. She did awesome! I was totally happy and went on my trip with my new hair :) The salon was extremely clean and everyone was talkative and nice. I'm already planning my next visit(not spur of the moment) to get more highlights added in or a complete color change. id like to add that i brought my son with me(he was 3 months old at the time) and had him sitting with me the entire time,Laina kept checking on him for me which was super sweet! read more

WOW! This place is gorgeous! I love the atmosphere, I have gotten my hair colored and cut by Laina Hicks and I honestly can't wait for my next appointment. I have not tried the Manicure/Pedicure services yet but there were a few women there when I was that seemed more than pleased. I have already recommended my mom (who has gone in) and my best friend. If you go in for a hair appointment I HIGHLY recommend Laina, she has worked miracles with my hair and has suggested things that I would have never thought of before and thanks to her very experienced knowledge I discovered I was allergic to something in my previous used products. read more

It was my first time going there and the wait time was okay since I have made an appointment already but I did not like the quality of service I got for how much I paid. I got Gel for both of my hands and feet. At first some of my hand nails were not covered completely and it looked like some of my nails were smudged I also had same problem when I got home with my toe nails. After couple of days my nails got chipped (which is usually would not happen for my nails with GEL) and after exactly a week I saw Gel broke off of my nails as you can see in the picture. It shows me how low quality products they are using and I am very disappointed at what I got for what I paid. read more

Most horrible service ever! Mai is amzingly discorteous. After booking an appointment at 1230, she doesn't even come out until 10 minutes after (BTW, there is no receptionist at this place). This was my first visit to Salon Maxx. I came because of all the great Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. I went in to get my hair styled, and my stylist was Karen. We hit it off immediately. I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair styled/cut and she nailed it. It's always a pleasurable experience to get my hair washed by someone else, but she added in a scalp massage that had me über relaxed. The facility is lovely and spacious, with a calm atmosphere. The staff on site were all friendly and eager to please their clients. I'm absolutely returning for future cuts.
